NI Volume License Server and IPv6 support?

Please, correct me if I am wrong and realy late with this.
I am quite sure that Volume License Management connection does not have IPv6 support. Meaning connection between client's License Manager and server's Volume License Service.
The support would be realy nice feature for companies using Microsoft DirectAccess to allow empployees to use companie's IT resources outside of company network with their work computer. In this case Volume License Server as a resource.
Yes, there are translators between IPv4 and IPv6, but native support is always the best. And IPv6 is not future technology it is current technology.
I know that there is 14 days product version specific Backup License in use if there is no connection to server. But this is not good when employee has several versions of LabVIEW and TestStand in use.
Another work a round would be a Home License generated to a employee's work computer, but that is not really nice.

Hi JERei,
Thanks for the feedback. You are correct, VLM does not currently support IPv6. We are currently evaluating adding IPv6 support to our products, but we do not have a definite timeline. If IPv6 support is critical to your application, you should contact your sales representative to discuss your options.

  • Can I create a 2012 home license with a 2013 volume license server?

I am having trouble getting a new installation of LV2012 SP1 to see the home license. I have to change computers at home so I am trying to move my install from one computer to the other. While I have given my IT person the new computer name and ID and they have generated the necessary file, Labview does not see the LV2012 SP1 installation I have. It is still in "evaluation mode". While my IT has upgraded the volume license server to 2013, all of my teams have not yet moved to 2013. So can I (or my IT) create a 2012 SP1 home license with a 2013 volume license server? Or is the problem with my new computer?

The license should be good for any version older than the current SSP is under.  So somebody with a license for LabVIEW 2013 can activate LabVIEW 2012 as well.  It is sounding like something is wrong with your new setup.

    Hi,

  • Oracle Weblogic server and OSGi support

I am working on OSGi implementations (Equinox/Apache Felix), application is full Spring MVC based, using Spring DM(Latest versions Gemini Blueprint and Eclipse Virgo) to deploy bundles. I couldn't able to deploy Web application as an OSGi bundle. It is not recognizing web bundles.
Regarding this I have some questions below:
    1. Does Weblogic server 10.3.3 supports OSGi bundles and specifically OSGi specifications.
    2. If it supports OSGi bundles, then what is the way to do it? I haven't got anything regarding this.
    3. Does Weblogic Server has compatibility with Eclipse Virgo or Gemini blueprint, so that we can deploy OSGi bundles using Virgo or Gemini Blueprint.
    4. Which versions of weblogic server supports OSGi implementations?
Any help or reference code regrading this would be of great help.
    Regards
    Rahul

Yes, since the release 10.3.4 the product called Weblogic Server provides features of both "BEA WLS" and "Oracle AS" (namely, support for Forms and Reports, ADF, etc.)
Existing customers of Oracle AS may upgrade to Weblogic Server to get its benefits (for instance, JRockIt JVM). For new ones, Oracle AS should no longer be offered.

  • Filr and IPv6 support

    Hi
Filr apps do not support IPv6 on standard ports i.e. once port redirects are used. This is likely because of lack of NAT support for IPv6 in the Linux version, but the Filr apps will probably need a bit of new code too. Any idea when IPv6 will be supported?

  • Does license server white listing support AIR?

Apologies if this is already covered, search never seems to work for me.
i've been playing around with SWF hashing and providing a SWFApplicationIdentifier in the PlayRight.
Is this feature supposed to work for AIR?  I.e. can i get a hash for an AIR app and have the license locked only to that app?
    Thanks for any information.

To determine the publisher ID, you can use the AdobePublisherIDUtility.jar command line utility included in the Reference Implementation. Go to Reference Implementation\Command Line Tools and run:
         java -jar AdobePublisherIDUtility.jar <sample-player-install-path>/META-INF/signatures.xml
For the version of SampleVideoPlayer_AIR20.air on the 2.0 DVD, the publisher ID is: 3393887706043A7246E426B288447F1005240798.2
For the version of SampleVideoPlayer_AIR20.air on the 2.0.2 DVD, the publisher ID is: A167FBF93528C87BBCDAC2B8CD0829479DDA6912.2
The application ID and version number are specified in the app's application.xml file. You can find this at <sample-player-install-path>/META-INF/AIR/application.xml or on the DVD at Reference Implementation\Sample Video Players\AIR\Source\src\SampleVideoPlayer_AIR20-app.xml. In this XML file, you'll find the application ID:
         <id>SampleVideoPlayer-AIR20</id>
    and the application's version:
         <version>v1</version>
Since this application does not specific a numeric version number, you will not be able to use the min and max version constraints in the AIR whitelist entry for this application. However, you can still restrict the allowed AIR apps by specifying either publisher ID or publisher ID + application ID.

  • WRT160N V3 and IPV6 Support

Just wanted to know that if any new firmware is coming soon. I m getting IPV6 address from my modem but my router is not working with ipv6 sites. If there is any future with ipv6 i ll wait or should I go with DDWRT?
    Linksys EA4500

    1. I have posted the link to the official Cisco statement. Nothing else is known. For the WRT160N I would not expect updates. Consumer routers have an expected lifecycle of 1.5-2 yrs.
    2. You can still use dd-wrt.
    3. You can also very well use IPv4 only. Nothing much would change at the moment. Many web sites now offer IPv6 access in addition to IPv4.

  • Server 2012 R2 RDS- Only want the Session Host, Connection Broker and Licensing Server!

    Hi all,
Wondering if anyone has experience with implementing Remote Desktop Services (RDS) on Windows Server 2012 R2.
I am doing an RDS design for a platform where we only need an RDS Session Host, Licensing Server and Connection Broker. We do not need web access as these servers will simply be jump boxes internally!
However, implementing this correctly in our test environment has proved to be tricky. The options are:
Use the Server Manager and do a traditional install via Roles and Features ( specifically add the Session Host, Licensing Server and Connection Broker). The installation process seems to go through ok in this scenario but when I head over to the Remote
Desktop Services section of the Server Manager I simply get the message 'An RDS Deployment does not exist in the server pool. To create a deployment head to Roles and Features'.
Use the specific ‘Remote Desktop Services installation’ option on the Server Manager and do a Session Based Desktop deployment and Quick Start. This installation process seems to go through correctly and the Remote Desktop Section seems to be working
correctly via the Server Manager. However this process is ‘hard locked’ i.e. it installs the session host, web access and connection broker. I can then remove the web access component later from Roles/ Features.
Is there a best practice (if any) for installation? i.e. Will there be any issues down the line if I remove RDS Web Access from my server while following method 2?
There is a complete lack of documentation from Microsoft here so not sure what to do! Just need a basic RDS session based deployment.

    Hi,
As I know from server 2012\R2 the best deployment skill is to perform via “Remote Desktop Services” installation mode with Standard deployment and don’t let single role to install. Because when we install through RDS mode, there are specific extra tools and
services activated along with that deployment which you can’t find with single role installation. And that is for sure, when we install RDS role as of this, by default we will get install RDCB, RDSH and RDWA role installed.
Sorry don’t have any option to try to remove that role as that role basically needed for RemoteApp and Desktop purpose. But if you want then you can try it with help of “Remove-RDServer”Powershell command.

  • Downgrade windows 8 enterprise to windows 7 enterprise under volume license and steps for installing windows 7 enterprise.

How to downgrade from windows 8 enterprise to windows 7 enterprise under volume license? and what are the steps for installing windows 7 enterprise?

The link provided by v-yamliu works good.
Steps for installing Windows 7 Enterprise can differ based on the method of installation.
Windows 7 Enterprise, being an enterprise product, is usually installed on PCs count of 20 and above. Also, organisations usually modify the standard installation image to suit the organisation's needs and policies. In doing so, they define the way the Enterprise
edition can be installed. They can be ZTI (Zero Touch Installation) or LTI (Lite Touch Installation). The following links will be helpful in this case:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd919179(v=ws.10).aspx
If the above case is not true and only a standard image is being used, you can perform clean install as mentioned by v-yamliu. The following link will be helpful:

  • [Forum FAQ] Troubleshoot the error "The Remote Desktop Session Host server is in Per User licensing mode and No Redirector Mode"

    Symptom
RD License server is a key component of RDS. It licenses users to access RDS servers.
After purchase the required RDS CALs, we need to activate the RDS License server and install the purchased RDS CALs. However, during the installation or after installation, we may face errors
    about RDS License.
In most cases, the following error may occur.
    Error:
The Remote Desktop Session Host server is in Per User licensing mode and No Redirector Mode, but license server "Server name" does not have any installed licenses with the following
    attributes:
    Product version: Windows Server 2012
    Licensing mode: Per User
    License type: RDS CALs
    Troubleshooting
    1. Check whether the RD License Configuration is configured properly and there are no Warnings in the Event.
    2. The License Server should be part of 'RD Server License' group in Active Directory Domain Services.
    3. Check if the Licensing Mode is correct.
    - To change the Licensing Mode we can use RD Licensing diagnose, PowerShell cmdlet and Group Policy.
    Via PowerShell cmdlet:
To change the licensing mode on RDSH/RDVH:
    $obj = get-wmiobject -namespace "Root/CIMV2/TerminalServices" Win32_TerminalServiceSetting
    $obj.ChangeMode(value)
    # Value can be 2 - per Device, 4 - Per user
    Via Group Policy
Path: Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Services -> Remote Desktop Session Host -> Licensing
Use the specified RD license servers = FQDN of server name
Set the Remote Desktop licensing mode =
    Per User
However, if issue persists, please provide detailed information and post the question in the
Remote Desktop Services (Terminal Services) forum.
Please click to vote if the post helps you. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

    Hi Richard,
You need to uninstall Remote desktop session host feature. After removing it, you will default two connections which does not need to purchase RD CALs'.

  • Backup RDS server and licensing

Hello, I have a client that we implemented RDS with 2012 server.  Sessions not Virtual Desktops.  Everything is working fine but now we want to implement a disaster recover site for the RDS server amongst other things.  My concern for this
    will be licensing.
So ive been reading up and I want to confirm some things.
So my plan is to bring up another RDS server in the disaster site.  Make that server a license server, but I will not be installing any valid RDS license Cals on there.
So the idea is, if they have a disaster where they can no longer access there main RDS server, they can connect to the RDS server in the disaster site.  The License server does not have any valid license cals but my understanding is it will give out
    temp licenses in the meantime.
Then I can transfer my licenses over to the Disaster RDS server.
Just FYI, we are using User cals not Device, not sure if that makes a difference
I guess what I need to confirm is if this will work?  Im told even though I don't install valid licenses the licensing server will give out Temp licenses so users can access the RDS server?
On a side note, im I breaking the law with the licensing at all, im assuming im not as long as I transfer the RDS licenses over to the Disaster site.
On another side note, at some point I would be transferring the licensing back to the Main location, is there a limit to how many times you can transfer licensing?
    Thanks for the help
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Yes, the solution can work for you. You need to configure RD License High availability in your network. As you are using Per User mode license you need the setup can be easily deployed. Please refer following part.
When terminal servers are in per-user mode, the solution is simple. Deploy two activated license servers, placing all license tokens on one license server, and ensure both license servers are discoverable. In fact, it isn’t even functionally required that license
tokens be installed on either of the license servers. By placing all license tokens on a single license server, you simplify backup and recovery of the licensing infrastructure.
Per-User Mode, two license servers are deployed on the network. In the case of either one failing, the other is available so clients can continue to connect uninterrupted. If the terminal server deployment involved multiple sites, it’s best to place an enterprise
license server in each site that contains terminal servers to keep licensing-related WAN traffic to a minimum.

  • Terminal server with license server move to another domain (disjoin and rejoin a domain)

I've to migrate an a terminal server windows 2008R2 with is licence server, installed on the same machine,  from a domain let's call DOMAINA to a new domain DOMAINB, what will happen to TS licence server, i've to reinstall and authorise again and add
again licence or it will bring all licence with hm?
Ts licensing server and the terminal server are on the some machine. (it's offer service to only 5 users)
    Thanks
    Luigi

    Hi Luigi,
You should be fine moving from one domain to another.  Regardless I recommend you gather the original licensing paperwork, authorization number, license number, agreement number, emails, etc., as appropriate for the type of licensing program you purchased
them through.  If for whatever reason you need to reinstall the RDS CALs you will be fine if you have the license documentation.
After moving the server you should test by connecting to the server via Remote Desktop and then verify that there are no warnings/errors related to licensing in the server's log.  You may also want to create a RDS Per User CAL Usage report in RD Licensing
Manager, export it to .csv, and then examine it in Notepad.  You should see in the file where the server has issued licenses to users in the new domain.

  • License Server moved to different IP and cannot log in

We moved our License Server to different office location. The new office location has static IP and we'd like to set this static IP as our License Server IP for the clients to connect to. What I have done so far:
    1. I opened port 30000, 30001 on the router (port forwarding).
    2. In SAP Business One Server Manager > Setting > Connection Tab: I have changed the default Server Name from localhost to the static IP address and have ensured that the Port Number is set at 30000.
    3. I have disabled all firewalls in both License Server and Clients.
Then, I made a test drive using my laptop.
    1. I ran SAP B1 client.
    2. I connected my laptop to the internet using LAN / Wifi connection in the office where the License Server is located.
    3. In Administration > License > License Administration - I updated the License Server using the new static IP.
    4. It works!
    -----PROBLEM -----
I disconnected my laptop and re-connect using my 3G Wifi connection. I ran SAP B1 client to login and got this error message:
Enter IP Address or Server Name for the License Server
Connection with license server failed [Message 60070-15]
I have entered the correct IP address and still get the same error message.
Anyone can provide feedback where I did wrong?
    * Please do not suggest Citrix, Remote Desktop connection as they are different from what I want to accomplish.
    Thanks in advanced.

Hi Billy, here is the network structure in the office that has SAP License Server.
INTERNET------ASUS_ROUTER------SAP_LICENSE_SERVER (WITH PUBLIC STATIC IP PROVIDED BY OUR ISP example: 65.100.200.300)
    Steps that I have done:
    1. In ASUS ROUTER config: I reserved LAN IP 192.168.0.100 for SAP LICENSE SERVER
    2. In ASUS ROUTER config: I set NAT settings / Port Forwarding so that any request on Port 30000, 30001 will be forwarded to the SAP LICENSE SERVER 192.168.0.100
    3. I disabled all firewalls and anti virus at the LICENSE SERVER and CLIENT.
    Now for the testing:
I connect my laptop to the internet using my 3G Wifi connection. I ran SAP B1 client to login. I can see the company database, I chose a company then I got this error message:
Enter IP Address or Server Name for the License Server
Connection with license server failed [Message 60070-15]
And a dialog is asking me to enter the correct IP for LICENSE SERVER. I entered the PUBLIC STATIC IP 65.100.200.300 provided by ISP. From here, my understanding is the client will talk to 65.100.200.300 then Asus Router will forward this to 192.168.0.100 which is the License Server.
Waiting arond 10-15 seconds that same error message show up and asking me to enter correct IP address.
I am not an expert in networking but I think I did it correctly, didn't I? Been working on this for 3 days and still can't figure out to resolve.
