Nice Board for workstations

Just wanted to post the following.
If you are trying to put together a low cost workstation with decent performance. The 890GXM-G65 is a really good choice. On-board video, am3 / am3+ socket, micro-atx with a cost just over $100. Just installed two in our office w/ athlon II 645 x4 3.1 ghz oc'ed to 3.8 and all is good. Total cost per comp, less than $450 inc os.

Is it possible to connect more than one Niagara processor to have a "multi-niagara" shared memory
machine? In other words: T1 has 8x4=32 hardware threads. Can I connect two of them
to the same blade (or however it is) and then have 8x4x2=64 threads running in parallel?Cristian,
With the existing T1 (Niagara) design, the answer is "no" because, for one thing, no means of maintaining cache coherence between multiple processors was designed into T1.
However, adding cache coherence across chips would be a great enhancement that could be contributed to the OpenSPARC community!

  • DLNA would be a nice feuture for Bulletin Board

A nice feature for the bulletin board would be sharing on a dlna renderer.
windows 7 can send multimedia out of the exporer ("Play to") to a dlna renderer (e.g. TV set).
The bulletin board is missing this option.
I would imagine anything like the dlna sharing on a Tablet S.

Nice thoughts. It will be nice that Toshiba software engineers read this forum. ;)

  • One more solution for Silent Monitoring Windows 7 64-Bit - ERROR VOIP2037 Unable to open the NIC adapter for sniffing.

    Hi,
we are using UCCX 8.5 SU3.
After replacing the actual agent workstations with Windows 7 64-bit we had to face problems with the silent monitoring. (no sound at all and in the CSD the usual error popup "Silent Monitor-Session failed...").
In the CAD logfile I found the errorcode. "ERROR VOIP2037 Unable to open the NIC adapter for sniffing. Please reconfigure the installation."
After investigating the logfiles, starting postinstall.exe a hundred times and reading the Configuring and Troubleshooting VoIP Monitoring Guide.
I just learnt about the wonderful tool nicq.exe.
And so i found out that the driver spcd.sys wasn't installed.
Check in the registry for "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\SPCD"
It seems to me that the "Cisco Supervisor Desktop.msi" never installs the driver one a Windows 7 64-bit.
After starting the NICQ.EXE as administrator the driver is being installed.
    Test 1: Check Driver Status
Driver not installed. Attempting to install it...
Driver has now been successfully installed.
SPCD Driver service is not running. Attempting to start it...
SPCD Driver service is now running.
    Test 1: SUCCESS
And after that the silent monitoring works again like a charm.
    Maybe that info help someone.
    kind regards, sebastian

Excellent information, this has been driving me crazy for a while now.  Once i saw this info I was able to get it resolved rather quickly.
+5 for you, (I tried to click it above but it would not let me.)

  • Where can I find a logic board for iMac G5 17" (EMC No. 1989) Apple Part

HI  Where can I find a logic board for iMac G5 17" (EMC No. 1989) Apple Part #: 661-3290, 661-3351?

    Thanks--makes life easier!
I found DV Warehouse has a number of G5 logic boards but none had the exact model number:
    http://www.dvwarehouse.com/iMac-G5-Logic-Board-c-4771.html&pltid=05fedd9f246e2a1 dbc9f35cd6712e781
They have a toll-free number. You could ask if another board # would be compatible.
Another option is to contact recylers or schools shucking off older gear. Using the enigma of " A used computer is worth more parted out," you might be able to pick up another G5 cheaper than its LB. Unless the LB had the dreaded "leaky capacitor" failure, most computers don't get discarded for a bad LB.

  • Can I buy a new Logic Board for an iBook G3 700 12"?

The Logic Board in my iBook G3 700 12" just died. My local reseller says it doesn't qualify for the replacement program.
Anyone know where can I get a NEW Logic Board for my iBook?
I don't like the thought of buying a used on on eBay and having the same problem 6 months from now.
    Thanks!

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Yes, but the best place I know actually installs it for less money than they charge you for buying one outright:
    http://www.dttservice.com/ibookg3.html#ibookrepair
They offer a six-month warranty, which is better than most places (including Apple's own 90-day warranty on repairs).

  • Where can I purchase a Logic Board for a 24" Apple Cinema Display?

My 24" Cinema Display started to flicker and black out shortly after I purchased my most recent MacBook Pro.  Apple felt that the issue was the MacBook Pro so they replaced it.  The problem continued so they suggested I take the Cinema Display to the Genius Bar.  The display was out of warranty and the Apple Genius felt the issue was a bad display even after I told him I smelt silicon burning just before it went out completely.  He said that he could "depot" the unit and have it repaired for ~$600.  Due to the high cost of repair, I chose to purchase a new Thunderbolt Display instead.  Recently, I opened the old Cinema Display and found that the Logic Board is fried.  I have ordered a new board from 2 different Web retailers.  Both accepted the purchase as "in stock" but then stated they could not get the board from Apple.  Where can I purchase the Logic Board for a 24" Apple Cinema Display?
    Many thanks!

I was very interested to read this document.  I think there is a problem with the Cinema Display and that it is frying the computer.
My husband bought each of us a macbook pro.  His was hooked up to the cinema display.  After about a year, his MBP started to suffer intermittent failures where it would suddenly shut off and have to be hard rebooted.  After 2 years, the power or logic board on his MBP completely failed. He bought a new MBP and a Thunderbolt display, and I inherited his Cinema Display for use with my original MBP.
After one month of use with the cinema display, my MBP started to have the same problems.  It has to be hard rebooted almost every time I disconnect or reconnect with the cinema display.  I went to the Genius bar, and they confirmed that my MBP logic board needs to be replaced; I'm just holding out until spring break to take it back in, as they say it may take a week.  Fortunately, I have AppleCare for my MBP.
Our cinema display is 3-4 years old, but it looks like, even though it appears to be working, I should probably get rid of it.  I can't keep frying computers!
I'm posting this because I'm wondering how many others are experiencing this problem.

  • How Can I configure the 6024E board for reading the voltage from a source?

Hi, I have a little problem, I want to use the 6024E board for reading voltage from a source and then display this on the monitor, and also I want to change the voltage from the output using the computer. I read the manual but I don't understand how to connect and configure the board. It is to proof that the board receive and send information.
Thanks, sorry for my english, I'm from Mexico, if you don't understand something about my explanation tell me.

Thank you, now I'm trying to do my project and I have another question, there are differents ways to connect the source and I choose the NRSE configuration because I'm going to use a grounded signal source... well in the manual says "The signal is then connected to the positive input of the PGIA, and the signal local ground reference is conenected to the negative input ot the PGIA. The ground point of the signal should, therefore, be connected to the AISENSE pin." I don't understand this because I only have two wires and here is talking about three connections, please help me, how do I connect the source to the board? I have the positive wire and the negative wire.... maybe is because I don't have a perfect english and I don't understand the sentence...

  • Looking for a nice solution for different cases with nearly same operations

    Hi everybody:
I'm looking for a nice solution for the following problem:
I'm measuring different data at the same time (with different devices).
I would like to save these data all in one array (or cluster?), but I
don't know exactly the way to do this. All values have corresponding
time values. So for one data type it would result in a 2d array,
wouldn't it? But how can I save different data types with their time
values in one array? Or should I take a cluster? And how can I get only
a certain type of data out of this array or cluster again? E.g. if I
only need data type "3" with its time stamps for evaluation? I would
really appreciate an example, I work with LV 7. Thanks!
Then - for evaluation - I only need one data type of these different
data. Which one I would like to choose via the frontpanel (it changes
from test to test). So, I thought of a case structure (where I can
choose which data type and correspondingly which evaluation way). The
evaluation steps for the different data types are quite the same, but
can vary in order of execution. I could write for every case the
(nearly) same evaluation steps, but this would take a lot of time, plus
if I need to change one step I need to change it in every case.
Does anybody know a better way?
Thank you very much in advance,
    Steffi

In this example I have four arrays, which I would like to save alltogether in one file. First column should consists of time stamps, second column of value type 1, third column of value type 2, ... How can I solve this?
Built the 4 1D arrays into a 2D array, the use write to spreadsheet file.

And, after that, how can I display only the second coulmn (e.g.) and time stamps in a waveform chart from this file? Or how can I say in LabVIEW: "display the last 30 values of column three over the time in a waveform chart"?
There is "array subset", which allows you to get any desired subset from an array. If yoyu want entire rows or colums, use "index array".
To display the last 30 values in a chart, just feed the data to a chart with the history size set to 30 elements. The rest will fall into place.

  • Forum-board for non-english speaking users?

    Hello!
As my English isn't very good, and sometimes i don't know how to discribe my problem in English i'd like to ask if it's pssible to open a new Board for non-English speaking ArchLinux Users?
Perhaps one in German, French etc.
There non-english speaking  Users could ask for help in their language and other German/French/Spanish-speaking users could help them.

sarah31 wrote:well i have notice that there are some more common non-english language users on this forum. there are quite a few germans, various latin languages (spanish, portugese, etc), and so forth. i wonder if it would not be possible to have catagories on this forum for our foreign language user so that if they feel more comfortable working in their own language they can post there. i mean really it is not that much of a drain of resources. if these cata gories became very active more organization or splitting could then be done.
The problem with separate categories for different languages is, as somebody already pointed out, that potentially useful information is then also separated. As a non-native English speaker myself, I still feel much more comfortable trying to understand bad English than perfect German of French.
I also reckon that here are not that many Finnish archers that we could have forum of our own.. and even if there was Finnish category I would propably still post to the English forums.

  • Can you swap G5 PPC logic board for an Intel board?

If....and I'm hoping not....I have to get a new logic board for my G5 is it possible to sawp it for an Intel version? I mean, is it possible? I'm aware of the cost and such (Procs, memory) in addition but, may possible be tempted to do it if it's do-able.

Negative, the cases look similar but internally are EXTREMELY different. Even the later ( late 2005 ) G5 are internally different than the earlier G5.

  • Quick question regarding best practice and dedicating NIC's for traffic seperation.

    Hi all,
I have a quick question regarding best practice and dedicating NIC's for traffic seperation for FT, NFS, ISCSI, VM traffic etc.  I get that its best practice to try and separate traffic where you can and especially for things like FT however I just wondered if there was a preferred method to achieving this.  What I mean is ...
    -     Is it OK to have everything on one switch but set each respective portgroup to having a primary and failover NIC i.e FT, ISCSI and all the others failover (this would sort of give you a backup in situations where you have limited physical NICs.
    -    Or should I always aim to separate things entirely with their own respective NICs and their own respective switches?
During the VCAP exam for example (not knowing in advance how many physical NIC's will be available to me) how would I know which stuff I should segregate on its own separate switch?  Is there some sort of ranking order of priority /importance?  FT for example I would rather not stick on its own dedicated switch if I could only afford to give it a single NICs since this to me seems like a failover risk.

I know the answer to this probably depends on however many physical NICs you have at your disposal however I wondered if there are any golden 100% rules for example FT must absolutely be on its own switch with its own NICs even at the expence of reduced resiliency should the absolute worst happen?  Obviously I know its also best practice to seperate NICs by vender and hosts by chassis and switch etc
