Nickname is already taken
I'm new to Mac and am already frustrated. I just wanted to play a game to kill some time. When I go into the game center, it asks for my apple id and password. No problem there. But then it wants my age. What if I don't want to give it? It also asks for a nickname. So I give it one. But its already taken. I don't really care, I don't want to interact on line, I just want to play a game. I don't want anything made public. So what if there are a million on us with the same nickname. I know a lot of people with the same nickname. Would you change your nickname if someone at your new job has the same one? Probably not.
So the questions is, can I get into game center without a nickname? Is it even worth the effort or should I just go get my own games?

Go to the Apple Store and check out all the games there. Personally, I have no interest in playing with other people. I found lots of free games, puzzles, and fun stuff to do when bored.

Commenting via iPod in iTunes store: lost text if nickname already taken
I'd like to report a bug that really bugs me. I'll also send this to some Apple support address but would like to inform the community as well. Also to see if I'm the only one or if I'm doing sth wrong.
On my iPod Touch 3G (3.1.3, Darn!), when I want to comment on or rate an app or a podcast in the iTunes store, after logging in I'm asked for an alias prior to the headline and text of the comment. I choose one, then I write my comment, slowly and painfully on the small touch screen keyboard. When I send it, the store tells me the nickname is already taken and ... deletes my comment!
WHY?
Could the store please check beforehand if the name is ok or at least not delete the comment? I have to rewrite the whole thing and try another name.
Is this a bug or am I doing sth wrong? Is anybody else annoyed by this?Well,
A Jason from the Apple support has answered my mail. It's obviously not a bug but sth that could be enhanced in future versions of the store/ iTunes.
I wonder why nobody else has so far had this problem. -
One of my kids ipods needed an update. It wouldn't let me do it via the itouch (like the other 2 itouches did). I had to connect to the PC, sync, update and then restore. Once I did, the apps could be downloaded again via icloud (which wasn't on the itouch before) but progress on games that were through Gamecenter did not transfer. Tried logging into Gamecenter and it states the user name is already taken. Yeah, I know it's already taken, BY MY DAUGHTER!!! Apparently she has a dragon game app that she manages through Gamecenter that she has worked her way to level 22 and now it is all gone. It wants her to restart from level 1. I know this isn't life or death and not like losing work data etc. But to a 9 year old who has spent $40 of her own money on gems, coins etc....... this is the end of the world. LOL. I do want to try to help her, I just don't know how.

I had meanwhile created a new nickname, very similar to the original one, and requested that they swap the advanced world to the new id. I sent this last Saturday evening. This morning (so effectively on their first workday after my request!) I received a kind response from Rachael that they had swapped the parks. Like your daughter my son couldn't believe his eyes. I tried to download a movie on my iPod touch but due to limited space, it did not download. Then, I checked my credit card online, and I found the money was already taken. How will I get it to download on another device with the same account? Also, I was wondering why they took my money even when it did not finish downloading let alone get downloaded?

All my game data i was playing for months was lost. Seems when i trie to put my nickname its already in used. So i need to put a new nickname then it create a whole new acc for me. All my previous data was lost. How can i recover my all my data or use my old nickname? Pls help

Yes, it is the same with me. I know a friend how upgraded to iso7 and lost all of his game center data. He tried singning in and re singning in but no change. Plus on to of all of this, apple is like have me and him to re-validate our itunes acount. Somthing weried is going on. So verified my itunes acount and it shows under settings that I am signed in, but when I go to the app store on my iPhone and try downloading or even updating a app, it says "can not conect to itunes store" after singing in! AND I'M NOT SURE I AM GOING TO UPGRADE TO ISO7 YET UNTILL THEY FIX THIS BUG!!!! HELP! -

So I just want it to check and see if that username is already taken. If it is taken, it can print something or reject then back to the signup page. If the username is not taken, if will add the row. After updating iPod Touch to iOs 5.0, I cannot get into Game Center with previous nickname. The screen says my nickname is already in use by another account. Why did this happen and how can I fix this so I can still use the same nickname?
Did you haveany problem with updating to iOS 5? It soundsl like the update did not correctly restore from the backup that iTunes mnakes as the fisr step of the update.

it says that the mac name is already taken by another device, then my mac starts to change host name oftenI do not get any message at all when I try to trash it. The folder simply does not move to the trash. I marked this solved before I tried the unlocking solution, but I am confident it will work. It seems counter-intuitive to have a locked by default action, since a burn folder should be editable. I thought that was one of the main ideas of a burn folder.

how long does it take to delete an account from a macbook (OSX 10.9.4)? I used secure delete (at the recommendation of the apple genius) and it has already taken 2 weeks... and still not deleted! Granted there was over 200GB of data... any ideas on this? thanks

Please I want my Game Center profile name back I changed it by mistake and when I try to return it it tell me the nickname is already in use!
Restore the device from the most recent backup (prior to restoring as new) to put everything back the way it was.

You can crop the image in the included Image Browser or Zoom Browser software. There isn't a method to be able to crop in camera. We regret any inconvenience that this may cause you at this time.

I have the IPhone, IPad and MacBook, IPad and IPhone share the same Apple ID and Icloud storage. Cannot make ID Change on MacBook as it says the ID is already taken. How can I make all three match?
The problem is that all services are bundled with your Apple ID ([email protected]):
Your iCloud account (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, Backups, etc.),
also iTunes & App Store purchases (Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc.),
and the iTunes Match services.
(I guess that all your devices - yours and your wife's are connected to one iTunes library, right?)
If you want that your wife gets her own iCloud account for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc. but gets also access to your media then you have two set up two things on her device:
iCloud (Settings > iCloud) with her account (e.g. [email protected])
and
iTunes & App Stores (Settings > iTunes & App Stores) with your account (e.g. [email protected]).
In this case she gets access to your library and could use the same iTunes Match account.
