Niether Firefox Setup 37.0.1 or Firefox Setup Stub 37.0.1 will install

The update to firefox 37 would not complete so I unstalled the current version I had on my Fully updated Windows 8.1 Pro computer. When I tried to install Firefox Setup Stub 37.0.1 the insaller flashed and went away. When nothing else happened I downloaded Firefox Setup 37.0.1 and ran it. After the extraction process nothing else happened. I just want to get firefox installed again on my machine. Please advise. Thanks!

hello, for the old sync system in firefox 28 and below you also had to sign up with a mail address and password originally - to connect firefox to the old account you would need to have all those three pieces (mail, password & recovery key) available to you unfortunately...

I have recently done a factory reset on my laptop. I have reinstalled Firefox but I keep getting a pop up box 'Firefox Setup Stub 37.0.1 exe' everytime FF opens. I download it, it executes, FF opens and the pop up comes back again. I have uninstalled and tried again but the same thing happens. It's getting really annoying everytime I open the internet and get this darn box! Any suggestions?!

You can check the home page setting to make sure that you do not have a page included that tries to download Firefox:

Each morning I get a notice to download a Firefox security update. When I click install, I get a message saying Installing Firefox and Connecting to the update server. It never connects; the progress bar just spins all day.

Since shortly after installing Firefo 5 I get this message every time I start Firefox. A dialog box comes up that says Installing Firefox, followed by a spinning progress bar, followed by "connecting to the update server." It never progresses past this point and will stay this way indefinitely until I close the Window.
Also since installing Firefox 5, the program crashes at least once or twice a day and I have to quit and restart. Don't know if there's any relationship between the two issues.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in compatibility mode.
You can open the Properties of the Firefox desktop shortcut via the right-click context menu and check the "Compatibility" tab.

Firefox doesn't update plugins like that. The worst you might see is a "nag" from Firefox after an update, about that plugin being outdated; and you can dismiss that "nag" by just closing it.

When I switch between networks firefox is not working. I will have to close the browser and open it again!?

I wanted it to be perfect all the time, one issue I come across with it recently is: When I switch between networks (say connecting to myoffice network through VPN when firefox is already open) firefox is not working. I will have to close the browser and open it again to make it work! could you please fix this.

Firefox 4 can't update plugins after installing

After installing Firefox 4 it checks the updates for installed plugins. The program becomes unresponsive. When I installed it for the first time, I let it continue for 4 hours, then I killed the process.
After killing the process I tried to open Firefox. It wont open.
I've tried everything from re-installing to system restore, but it just wont work.

Everytime Firefox starts it says it will install an update and nothing happens

When I start FF, I get a message that an update is being installed, & FF will start in a moment. Then I get a grey screen with a link to learn more bout the update. When I click on it nothing happens. So I close it and FF starts in a few minutes. This happens with every start.

I don't just want to install some unknown plugins. Isn't there a way to determine the plugins that firefox will isntall? Can't it present me with a list of plugins that is going to be installed, before I click the button?
