Nightmare with a Samsung Wifi printer 2165W

Hello,
I've just bought a Samsung 2165W "wifi" printer. I've spent the last five hours trying to configure it to my wireless network. The problem appears to be not my technical ineptitude, but the fact that the instructions provided, the programs on the installation CD and the support section of the Samsung website do not tally with the reality of using a computer (I'm on a MacBook pro, running OSX 10.7.4).
I have followed the installation instruction to the letter. The printer works when connected via USB; but there is absolutely no way I can connect the computer to my wifi network (I don't have a screen on my printer that would allow me to select my network, the Samsung software does seen to want to give me that option either).
I got very excited when I noticed that there was a recently-launched piece of software on the Samsung support site called 'Wireless setting'. It does absolutely nothing apart from raise my blood pressure.
Does anyone have any experience of this before I through the printer out of the window?

I had the same problem, and I eventually fixed it. I installed the printer like they said with the usb cable etc, but in the connectivity section of the installation there was an advanced tab, I entered my WIFI details, WEP Key etc...
Once it was installed the printer would not connect up... So in the printer settings I removed the Samsung printer then re-added it manually... It then came online for about a minute just at random intervals. During one of the online phases I took the IP address down from the Samsung Printer Manager Utility...
I then reinstalled the printer a third time, but from the IP address only... Since then it has worked like a charm...
I think the printer itself is great as a cheap compact high quality printer... But the software is ridiculous! It is clearly not MAC compatible from the offset and you must use OS X to manually set it up...
Samsung need to get it together, because this printer very nearly went through the window!
I have attached a couple of screen shots to hopefully help...

  • Samsung WiFi printer can't connect to new Quantum Gateway router?!

We recently replaced our 3-year-old router with the latest Quantum Gateway router and upgraded fios speed from 25/25 to 50/50.
Every device (PC, phones, tablets, and TV) was able to connect to the new network.  BUT, our Samsung Wifi printer (M283x seriers) cannot connect at all.  With the older router, we were able to access the printer thru Wifi network from two different PCs..
We did not relocate the router and we did not move the printer, so singal strength was not the issue.  We even uninstalled and then re-install printer driver to PC to set up the network again.  Tried every connecting option that Samsung had suggested, but everything failed.
We also tried to log in to Router Admin site to add this printer, didn't work.  WPS was turned on and we couldn't figure out why this new network doesn't add the printer. This router did not like our printer.
One funny thing was that if we turned OFF all the security settings, the router allowed this device to connect to WiFi.
Can anyone help?  Thanks a lot!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have a solution for you.  After upgrading to the Quantum Gateway last week, My Samsung 2835 printer had the same problem. It turns out that the printer doesn't play well with the Quantum Gateway when the Samsung "Wi-Fi Direct" function is enabled.  All you have to do is log in to the printer web page. Then, under Settings--> Network Settings--> Wi-Fi Direct... Turn Wi-Fi Direct off using the drop down menu.  Hit "Apply", then power cycle the printer. After this you can use WPS or manually configure the printer and it will connect right away.  Thank the Verizon technical guy J.W.  for figuring this one out by capturing the Wi-Fi traffic between the Gateway and printer.

  • Cannot print with a Samsung ML2160 printer (mono laser) and Pages. Print function doesn't work, only drag and drop in printer's queue

    Hello,
I just purchased a Samsung ML2160 printer and it doesn't work with nor my Pages program, nor the Preview (to print PDF). No matter the way I tried, the Print function doesn't work and I cannot neither print or even enter the printer preferrences menu! My MacBook Pro has worked before with other printers, but now with the Samsung it doesn't work at all... Though, if I drag and drop a document, jpg, pdf in the printer queue, it prints just fine, but that method gives me absolutely no freedom to the printing... Could it be something from the Computer -> Machintosh HD -> Library -> Printers? Because a friend of mine was recently trying to save me some disk space, and therefore erasing part of the HP printer (to remove the previous printer I owned)...
If anyone has any idea, that would be much appreciated
    Thank you in advance

Do the sensible thing, as you say neither Preview nor Pages print, try other programs eg TextEdit. If none of them print then it is a System problem and very likely the printer drivers are AWOL or were never installed.
Go to Samsung's website and download their software for the Mac:

  • HT4356 I was gifted a new Samsung wireless printer model ML-2165W, it works with my desk top and lap top but can't get it to work with IPad.  Did I just receive a "boat anchor" printer in the eyes of Apple?

I was recently gifted a new Samsung wireless printer Model # ML-2165W and while it works fine with all my computers, I can't make it print from my IPAD.  Was I given a "boat anchor" in the eyes of Apple?

It looks like your printer isn't on the list of air print enabled printers. It'll still work, you just need to do some tweaking.
You can see if samsung has any apps to enable printing.
    or
You can look into a third party app like Print n Share or Print Central.
Then you can print from your iPad.

  • We have two Airprint capable printers thagt my wife uses with her Samsung Galaxy s4 but both printers are NOT listed on my iPhone 4s. any ideas why and how to correct??

I have two printers ... Cannon MS5400 and an Epson Workforce 840 ... both are Airprint capable as my wife prints to both via her Samsung Galaxy S4.
My iPhone 4S only has the Cannon listed when I go to print. Any deas as to what is going on and how to correct???

There are a lot of posts in the forums today with people having problems with iMessage.   There was also a published outage yesterday, so it's possible there are still some issues that may be impacting you both.
I would just wait it out - I'm sure it will be sorted out soon.

I have set up my airprint wifi printer which works perfectly with the HP eprint app. However, when i view an email and click on the top right arrow button and select "PRINT" on my ipad nothing happens????...
Also, when im viewing websites and i find something i wish to print, same again, if i simply click on the print option at the top right of the screen nothing happens... the only way I can print is if i copy the weblink of the site page then click on my HP eprint app and paste the web link, then select print, it prints off fine.. but its it such a pain to keep copying and pasting links or screen dumping emails just to print...

Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app.  I am certain other applications also need this information.  Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information.  Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them. Thank you!
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" if I helped solve your problem.

  • Can I add a WiFi printer through WPS with the new AirPort Extreme and AirPort Utility 6.3?

It says here that AirPort Utility 6.2 supports WPS-capable WiFi printers, but on the new AirPort Extreme techs pecs Apple insists that the way printing is shared is by connecting the printer to the AirPort Extreme with a USB cable, which really defeats the whole purpose of WiFi printing doesn't it?
Does the new Airport Extreme support WPS-capable printing? Does AirPort Utility 6.3 support it?

Does the new Airport Extreme support WPS-capable printing?
    Yes
Does AirPort Utility 6.3 support it?
    Yes

  • Looking for a WiFi printer that will work with my Nexus WiFi hotspot

On a recommendation, we have bought an Epson NX530 WiFi-enabled printer.  It does not work with the WiFi hotspot feature of my Galaxy Nexus.  The support tech at Epson suggested that we get a WiFi router rather than trying to use the Galaxy Nexus.  I told her that I would rather trash the NX530 and get a printer that would work with my phone.
    So we have 3 questions:
    1) does anyone know how to make an Epson NX530 work via the Galaxy Nexus hotspot?
    2) does anyone know of a different WiFi enabled printer that works with the Galaxy Nexus?
    3) does anyone know if the Galaxy Nexus is inherently unable to work with any WiFi printer?
    Thanks,
    Craig

This website should be able to assist you.  http://www.galaxynexusforum.com/forum/galaxy-nexus-help/8520-wifi-printing.html   I use an app called Printhand from the Google Play Store for my Android tablet and smart phones. I have a Canon  Pixima 3220 that functions great. I also have a higher end HP Envy D410a that also works great with printhand.  The Canon is cheap at BJ's at $40 when I bought it. The HP is about $269 at Staples and other outlets.  Good Luck

  • WiFi printer which can work with one cartridge also at a time (black or color) in a colour printer

All-in-one (OfficeJet or Inkjet) WiFi printer which can work with one cartridge also at a time (black or color) in a colour printer.
Even if colour cartridge is over, w/o replacing I can still print with black cartridge.
    Which printer is suitable.

Since I upgraded to Firefox 19 from 18.0.2, on my Windows XP (SP3) laptop, I, too, can no longer open a new window. File-->New Window does nothing; also can no longer tear off a tab and open it in a new window (it stays where it is). Also, if I right-click on a tab and select Move to New Window, nothing happens. All of these worked fine in FF 18.0.2. All of these work fine with FF 19 on Windows 7. Only an issue on my XP laptop.
After trying to open a new window, and not seeing the new window come up (and yes, I waited a long time), I decided to close my current window, which had multiple tabs open. Instead of just closing, it pops up the message reminding me that I'm about to close all those tabs. If I say close, and then go into the Task Manager, the Firefox application has disappeared (as expected), but the firefox (and plug-in container) processes are still running. So I have to manually kill the Firefox process to get it to quit. it's as if it thinks there is another Window open (the one I tried to open but never appeared). This happens every single time! I've restarted my laptop, and that does not resolve the problem.
Is there a way to downgrade back to v 18.0.2 until this is fixed?

  • PC won't ommunnicate with WIFI Printer

I have an HP 5060 J610 WIFI printer tht I have been using frequently. To day the PC won't communicate with the printer, up to and including not allowing me to delete the priner/driver and re-create it.
I can print to the printer from my iPhone, an iOS device, as well as my Nook tablet, an Andriod device. Further, fom the PC, I can point my web browser to the IP address of the Printer and via HP's Embedded Web Service, successfully print to the printer.
In short, there is no problem with the printer. I beleive there is a OS lock on  WIFI port of the PC. FYI - I'm running Windows 8.1.
How can I see/work-with the ports?
    Any suggestions would be helpful.

  • Samsung CLP300 prints via old G4 Power(10.4) but not with MacBook (10.5.5)

I bought an Airport Express so I wouldn't have to keep my old power-hogging G4 running as a print server. If I try and print wirelessly to my Samsung CLP300 printer with the G4, it works fine. But when I try and print via my MacBook (10.5.5), the print queue just stalls at a certain percentage. The only solution I've found is to unplug the Airport Express and then plug it in again, but schlepping up to my 3rd floor and waiting 5 mins for the Airport Express to start up can be a real PITA.
    Any solutions?

I'm also having issues with Airport Express 802.11b/g, firmware 6.3 that used to worked fine with my Brother MFC-2040 in 10.4 but now struggles in 10.5 with my new Samsung SCX-4300. Like you, it will print one job fine, then it stalls on the next. Printer dialog shows "Printing page 1, 14% complete..." Then it gives up and the dialog shows "Printer Paused". When I resume the printer and resume the job, an error message pops up, "Operation Could not be completed. client-error-not-possible". But when I click OK, the dialog returns that shows "Printing page 1, 14% complete"
I reinstalled the latest printer driver (1.2), deleted the old printer profiles and created new ones for the printer, and followed the directions on the Airport printing troubleshooting guide. I had no problems printing on a Brother MFC-2040 with OS X 10.4. I suspect this is a Leopard issue. Any thoughts?
