Nik collection crashes Aperture
Despite previously working seamlessly, for some reason Aperture is now unable to launch Nik Collection plug-ins, causing Aperture to close every time. I am unaware of any changes to my system which would result in this (although I am by no means an expert in this regard)
If it helps, then I can provide the error report from Aperture, but its pretty big so I havent pasted it in here.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can get me up and running again.

Some additinoal information:
I am working on a Mac mini running OS X 10.7.5. I am using Aperture Version 3.4.4 (digital camera RAW 4.08 - Build 707.1).
I am unsure which version of Nik Collection is installed on my machine but I originally bought and installed the package in about May 2013 - I am not aware of it updating since then (unless it does so automatically with no warning).

Nik collection plug-ins are causing aperture to crash. Please help!
Hi everyone, I am running Aperture 3.4.3 and a while back bought Nik Silver Effex 2.0.
A couple of days ago Google emailed me offering the complete Nik Collection for free.
I upgraded but since then everything has been messed up. The plug-ins all appear in aperture but when I try to load them they either fail to load or cause aperture to crash.
I have contacted Nik/Google but all of their suggestions so far have been to no avail.
Please help as I use silver effex professionally and have a job coming up soon that needs black and white edits!
I am desperate here so any help is appreciated.Nik/Google are trying to work out the issue but have never mentioned any possible compatability issues.

Photoshop CC crash when using Nik Collection
I have been using Lightroom 5 and Nik Collections plugins successfully for a while and just got Photoshop CC.
Unfortunately Photoshop CC crash when I save my work that I have done in ColorEfex Pro 4 or SilverEfex Pro 2.
The other plugins in the Nik Collection works fine, I work with TIFF and layers. My work flow is that I do some basic work in Lightroom then "Edit in...PS". From PS I use the Nik plugins, normally I'd do Dfine, Sharpner and then SilverEfex or ColorEfex. The crash happens when I get back to PS after saving my work and that last layer is never created and all my work is lost.

Installed TWAIN devices: NONEThe solution in my case when I posted this was to contact Google who sent me files that disabled the GPU, updating the driver didn't do the trick. The crashes stopped when the GPU was disabled but Nik was painfully slow.
No I have a new machine with a more powerful GPU and everything worked fine for a while then Colour Efex started to crash when I opened it in PS. Google gave me a link to AMD where I got the latest driver and now I think it's working again, I'm not sure because I have not done much work lately.
Bottom line....Nik seems to require a pretty powerful machine both when it comes to RAM and GPU.

Nik HDR Efex Pro Crashes Aperture
I am using all the Nik plugins with Aperture 3.1, but HDR Efex Pro crashes Aperture about 1/3 of the time on my iMac. Nik says the cause is probably a corrupt file in my user account, and there is a basis for this since I can run HDR Efex Pro on my MacBook Pro or using a new user account without a problem. I think that Nik should also accept some responsibility since this is the only program that crashes Aperture. Does anyone else have a fix for this other than doing a clean install of OS X?
Thanks -Hi I also have this problem with HDR Efex Pro for me it seems that it crashes every 2nd or 3de set of photo's that I am opening. It says that my memory is to full. I've looked at my memory in activity monitor while i am working and it does not seems that my Memory is emptying after every time I've finished a set of HDR series. It is big files and my memory is then full very fast and then system crash. So I don't know why does the files that I've worked with stay full and does not empty itself. HDR Efex Pro is the only Nik software that I find makes my Aperture Crash.

I recently updated to 3.2.1 now none of my entire NIK software suite will run. Every time i attempt to run a plugin it crashes aperture. I have spoke with NIK and they told me the standard uninstall reinstall as well as to check my font folder for duplicate fonts. I have dont this as well as uninstalling and reinstalling aperture.
I have jobs stacking up in the pipeline and need to get this figured out. I have hundreds of dollars worth of plugins that now are useless because of an Aperture Update!!!!Yes that is correct.
i had everything working fine up until i updated to 3.2.1 i have uninstalled all of the plugins and re-downloaded the latest versions.

Nik Software Crash: "Could not complete the Color Efex Pro 4 command because of a problem with-"
Nik Software/Photoshop Crash: "Could not complete the Color Efex Pro 4 command because of a problem with the filter module interface." Define, Viveza work fine, the others, Color Efex, HDR Efex, Silver Efex don't. I called Nik and they said they were familiar with this problem and that it was an Adobe problem. They helped me uninstall and re-install the latest version of the filters. Didn't fix the problem. I called Adobe technical support, they confirmed that indeed it was an Adobe problem, but, they can't help me because they no longer offer support on CS5. I'm on an iMac with Mountian Lion 10.8.5, running Photoshop CS5.1. I searched the internet and found this problem mentioned in several places, just couldn't find the fix. Interesting coincidence - I had been using Photoshop and the Nik software perfectly fine, even the morning of the day it began to crash. I got a pop-up message from Adobe asking if they could anonymously monitor my usage to better their products. I clicked on "Ask me later." Then, my product crashed every time I tried to use the above-mentioned Nik software filters. ??? Why would they want to monitor my usage of a product they won't/don't support anyway? Help someone please - I really love the Nik software. I paid top dollar for it back in the day because people like Dan Hughes actually answered your questions themselves. The customer support was the best in the industry. The opposite is true of Adobe, is it not?
Thank you so much Chris. I know I'm not the only person to run into this as both Nik/Google and Adobe acknowledged this problem. I did however try something else to try and isolate the issue further. I tried editing with Nik/Google Color Efex & Silver Efex, etc., in Aperture, and sure enough, the Nik/Google filters wouldn't open, or they would crash Aperture. So - it's looking like a Nik/Google problem. They used to be so good. The crazy thing is that I had been using Photoshop with the Nik filters just fine, even earlier that very day. What could have gone wrong? Was there some kind of automatic update Saturday 3/1/14? And it was especially weird that it happened immediately after I refused to allow Adobe to (anonymously) monitor my usage. I'll call Nik/Google back tomorrow and tell them what you've told me, as well as letting them know their filters crashed Aperture too. I'll report back as soon as I find a fix. I know I'm not the only one out there who's experienced this.

After LR 5.3 update external editors stop working. PS , NIK collection
I updated lightroom from 5.2 to 5.3 and my external editors NIK and Photoshop CC stop working. I click on them, but nothing happens the applications do not open. In the case of Photoshop I make sure that I had everything updated including camera raw to match lightroom's 8.3
OMG!!! Thank you so very much!!! I went ahead and checked in preferences and the store preset was unchecked, so I checked it "on" to see what would happen. It took NIK off the edit tab, but it still showed photoshop, so I clicked on Photoshop and it worked!! The file was exported to Photoshop, so I went back again and unchecked the box and the NIK collection came back to the edit tab and it started working!!! So thank you so very much!!!

Nik Collection does not work with Photoshop CC 64-bit but with 32-bit
Hi,
though the Nik-Collection-Filters are listed (and installed) in PS CC 64, they do not work properly. The first visible difference is, that the "panel" of the various filters is not displayed when I start PS, but it is in the 32 bit version.
Even if I want to apply an Nik-Filter on an image nothing changes, but it does in 32 bit mode.
Is there a solution for this problem?
Thanks!Hello, I found a Post. I tried this and it works perfectly, you don't have to re-install CC or install CS6 all you have to do is that you install the Nik Collection in Photoshop CC (32bit) (plug ins) then you copy the "Google" File and that is the important one !!

I downloaded the Nik Collection, but when I try "export with preset" the only preset as an option is HDR Efex Pro 2. The other plug ins appear in my applications folder, but I get the error message at the start of this post...I can us, say, Silver Efex stand alone, but I want to use as a plug in...can anyone help please..?

Has anyone running PSE and using the Nik Collection of plug-ins experienced any sudden problems with a missing .dll file?
Yesterday, I was unable to open up PSE due to a missing .dll file. After hours of trying to figure out the problem, I inadvertently realized it was the Nik Collection that was the problem and re-installing it solved the problem.
This morning, same error message once again and when I by-passed it and got into PSE the Nik Collection was not showing under “filters” although it was yesterday after the problem was solved. So, I uninstalled the Nik Collection and re-installed it and everything is good now.

You can try this.
1. Launch PSE
2. Go to Edit -> Preferences -> Plugins
3. In the Additional Path, Provide the path of the Bokeh Plugin
4. Click OK
5. Relaunch PSE
I hope, it should work now.

Photoshop PSCC 2014 stops responding with NIK Collection Plugins and when loading from Lightroom 5
I have lost the ability to be productive since purchasing the photographers CC plan and installing Photoshop CC 2014.
1. Send photo from Lightroom 5.7 to PSCC 2014 then edit using photoshop and NIK collection plugin. Photo begins to loads into PSCC2014 then hang-up and PSCC stops responding causing me to force quit PSCC or photo loads into NIK Collection Plugin without any issues, editing is performed, but when I click "OK" the program hangs up, ( photoshop stops responding), resulting in a Force Quit and loss of all work.
2. Send image from Lightroom 5.7 to Photoshop CC 2014 using "Edit In". PSCC2014 hangs up while loading image and has to be forced to quit or it loads photo, work is preformed and after clicking "SAVE" to return to LR 5.7 photoshop hangs up and stops responding, causing loss of all edited work.
I have uninstalled PSCC 2014 along with presets and then reinstalled. No change in outcomes! I have updated and reinstalled the NIK Collection Plugin with no change in outcome. I am unable to get any work done for the last 4 days. I am considering canceling my CC account and trying to return to working with LR 5.7 and Photoshop CS6 as I had before purchasing CC photographers plan providing I can with success return to that configuration.
Can anyone help? I sure hope so.

Sorry it took so long to respond to your suggestion. Long work schedules doing video production have kept me away from my home base.
I did as you suggested in you're reply and photoshop cc worked without issue and returned the photo work back to LR normally. So, I assume by this, that the issue is
the NIK plug-in? Do you now what I can do to get the plug-in working correctly? Perhaps contacting Google/NIK for a solution?
Any additional suggestions and knowledge you can pass along related to the issue at hand is greatly appreciated. -
Photoshop CS6 extended with Nik Collection
I have the Photoshop CS6 extended version, I have purchased & downloaded the Nik Collection to use with my program, but every time I try to use the Nik Collection it shuts down my Photoshop CS6 extended. I have deleted it and re-downloaded and that did not work. I have closed the program, and the shut down the computer & restarted it and that did not work. What do I need to do to get these programs to work together???

Contact Nik/Google for updated plugins that work in the new version of Photoshop.

Some images created in Tiger unusable under Leopard - can crash Aperture
I have tried both updates and clean installs of Leopard on my MBP and external firewire disks. In both cases I find that a large number of images in my libraries (built under Tiger), give Aperture fits. For example, whilst I can see thumbnails, I can't export versions - messages come up to say the images can't be decoded. Similarly, if I try to edit or view some images full screen, I get a message saying "unsupported format". At times, trying to work with these images crashes Aperture.
In a couple of cases, I still have the offending images on cards and I was then able to import them anew into Aperture (running under Leopard) - these work OK.
Boinx Fotomagico under Leopard stopped running and quit without warning trying to run previously created slideshows that incorporate some of the above-mentioned images.
I conclude that there is a problem with Leopard's treatment of images rather than Aperture specifically. However, I have no clue how to address the problem. At present Leopard is just unusable for me.Hello

Knowing such of these problems, I decided to use Tiger as my main operating system.
Here, as I play safety, Leopard is always in test, not in real use.
