Nike sensor drains my ipod battery after 5K

I took it into the Nike store and they told me my ipod was ok and they thought it was the sensor. I tried my sister's sensor and the same thing happened. This is the new version of the Nano.  The battery is fully charged when I start a run. By the time I am done with 5K, it is almost depleated. Any ideas?

The Nike Sensor plays a playlist, so I am listening to music. I can listen to music for almost 16 hours straight before the battery drains without the Nike sensor plugged in. But when the sensor is plugged in, it is 30 minutes before the battery is drained. I should be able to run a marathon or at least a 1/2 marathon. Any ideas?

  • My ipod stops or pauses while I am walking...I am using the nike sensor with my Ipod.  Will it pause when I stop walking for a period of time?

I have purchased the nike sensor to use with my Ipod touch.  I tried it on the golf course and it kept pausing after time.. I tried the different ways to work out eg basic, timed, calories...but it kept pausing after a short distance.   Is this because you stop and start with golf?  Is there a setting I can adjust?

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
#Open Firefox ''Options'' window (''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux) as follows:
#* In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and select ''Options'' for Windows or ''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux.
#* In Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
#In the Firefox Options (or Preferences) window, click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select ''General''.
#In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
#Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

  • I can't calibrate my Nike+ sensor with my iPod 2G

I've just bought a nike+ sensor and there is a huge discrepancy in the distance given after my workouts (always is lower) with the real runned distance. I have tryed to calibrate several times (with 400m, 1Km, 1,2km) but it always say that I have not runned the distance of calibration and don't let me calibrate the sensor. Someone knows what I can do to calibrate my sensor?

Then you need to deauthorize another computer so you can authorize this one. If yo do not have the computers to deauthorize then yo can deauthorize all (you can only do that once every 12 months) and then authorize this one.

  • Nike Sensor with 30GB iPod?

    No. Nano only.

  • My laptop drains my IPOD battery now and won't sync! (Vista!?)

OK. Here's what happened. I have an old IPOD classic - the U2 edition. Anyway, I recently got rid of my XP desktop in favor of a new Vista laptop and I successfully transferred over my Itunes library onto it and synced my Ipod with this library.
Everything was working fine, my Ipod was syncing and charging on it for a while until recently.
Now when I plug it in to any of the USB ports, Vista will not even recognize it or find it. Even crazier, my Ipod acts like it's charging and shows that it's plugged in and charging - but instead of charging, the USB port drains the battery till I get a low battery or lightning bolt on my Ipod display. (My Ipod will charge on other computers.) I've never seen or heard anything like this!?
I tried creating a separate User account and installing Itunes and drivers again on separate account to see if it would correct issue, but no luck. I don't want to do clean VISTA install.
Anyone have any idea what is going on here??
    Thanks in advance!

Figured out my issue. Went into Control Panel and found my Ipod listed as USB Composite device. It was disabled. Re-enabled it and now it's back to working.
Still, wondering though why my laptop drained the battery instead of charging it when it was disabled.

  • Nike + crashes on my Ipod touch after about 1 hr 40 min run? HELP!

I am using my son's 2nd Generation (I know, I know, replace it already! But he has the 4th Gen Ipod touch, I kept his 2nd Gen) with Nike +. The software has been updated to the most recent version that this device can accept, and I have rebooted the device to the original config once already....
I have no issues at all with the app till about an 1:40 to 1:50 mins into the run.  All of a sudden you can hear whatever song it is on, skips a few times then stops.  If I hit the button on the front of the screen, it immediatly closes the Nike + app with no way to continue with my workout.
It does however keep the run data to the point of the music skipping and stopping as it saves it in my history....
Please help if you have encountered this and know how to fix it..
    Thanks,
    T

You can try the following. Also, maybe the next update willmake it better.
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

  • Battery bad, now draining my ipod!

I have the same battery problems as posted elsewhere by hundreds, now with my second battery. The first was replaced last summer.
Now I find that my macbook pro drains my ipod battery if I plug my touch into the macbook to recharge!
Does this sound like a larger hardware issue to any of you?

Most likely just the battery. Power can be drawn from attached, battery-containing USB devices if the computer is short on power.
Call AppleCare about a new battery, or purchase a replacement.

  • HT1602 Nike+ Sensor

WHy can't I connect the Nike Sensor to my iPod touch? What should I check after the settings from the iPod?..
Everything from the setting was on. Sensor and iPod Touch were present.
    ~Did I miss anything else?
~Do I really have to walk or run around when the like voice over says?
    Muchos gracias! ^_^

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting the issue?  Perhaps a hard reset of the iPod is in order. To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

Hi i received the nano 7th gen for Christmas and I only seem to get 5 hours of battery life. I use the Bluetooth and Nike app so I expect more drain on the battery.  But I got more time out of running with my iPhone. Does this sound normal? I thought I should get close to 30 hrs of just play time alone.
ALso, my wife got me the Belkin armband to run with the nano but I sweat through the band resulting in the back of the iPod to get wet. Surely this is not good. Anyone have a recommendation for an armband that keeps moisture away from the pod?

iPod Nano are small and they don't use Wi-Fi access so you get less power time on a Nano. As for iPhone, since you got apps, Wi-Fi + 3G access, and everything else, they give you more time so you can keep using. Nanos are ment to listen to music, listen to radio, view your photos, watch videos (without Wi-Fi) and since you got BlueTooth on the nano, it counts as wireless access so it drains your battery faster.

  • My ipod touch 4th gen sometimes is unable to locate my nike  sensor.  works fine with an ipod nano.

i got an ipod touch for christmas after using an ipod nano with my nike+ sensor.  after a month or so, the ipod touch was unable to locate my sensor after i pause during my workout.  since the sensor was a little old, i got a new one and it worked for about 2 weeks, then i had the same problem.  tried using my ipod nano and it has no trouble locating the sensor.  what is wrong with the ipod touch?

the first time, settings>nike+ was grayed out and i couldn't turn off the nike+ button.  had to reboot to recover the nike+.  yesterday and today, bluetooth and nike+ are active in settings, however, the sensor can't be located.
i'd rather not reset everytime this happens.  do you think the bluetooth is defective?

  • 10.5.6 Update breaks USB Keyboard causes iPod Battery Drain when sleeping.

I just recently installed 10.5.6 via automatic updates. I normally connect my iPod touch to my iMac via the keyboard Left USB port. I put my computer asleep at night. When I wake up my iMac in the morning my iPod is totally drained of its power over night. When I placed the iMac asleep in the evening the iPod battery was full. It seems the update broke the USB ports on the keyboard. To test this theory I tested keyboard on all three ports on the iMac by moving my keyboard connection. The iPod touch drained connected to the keyboard on all three ports. If I place my iPod on the USB port by itself it does not happen. It only happens when it is connected to the keyboard.
So far I have downloaded the full install of 10.5.6 and installed it. I also did the little voodoo of fixing permissions but still the same results. If I use the USB port on my keyboard my iPod will drain of all of its power in 6 to 8 hours when I place my computer a sleep. If I connect my iPod directly to USB port and put my computer asleep the iPod does not loose power and will be charged in the morning.
Not only does the keyboard not charge the iPod when it sleeps it drains the power from the iPod.
This did not happen before my update to 10.5.6.
Does anyone have any ideas? Is this happening to anyone else?
    Thank you for your help.

I opened a service call with Apple on this keyboard problem. I was shipped a new keyboard, reverted my computer to 10.5.5, went to the apple store to work with a Genius and worked with online support. Finally after weeks of going back and forth I received and answer from Apple Engineers. It seems the engineers “verified that the behavior for power handling has been changed” in 10.5.6. “resulting in the issue you've been reporting”. They also now “verified that the issue your reporting is correct behavior under this improved handling system”. They suggest to plug devices directly into the USB port when my iPod Touch is directly attached to my computer. I think I will just have to get a USB hub. It is a shame Apple had to waist money sending me a new keyboard. It is also a shame I had to revert my iMac to a 10.5.5 before the engineers took the time to look at the problem I was having. If the send level support engineers took the time to look into the problem the call could have been solved in 24 hours.

  • HT1119 What if my battery does not drain fully but drains a few percentages after being 100% charged then completely shuts off?

What if my battery does not drain fully but drains a few percentages after being 100% charged then completely shuts off?

Want to know how Apple will get 20 hours out of their 60GB iPods batteries ?
They'll fill it with music and fully charge it (of course), then get it to play continuously (probably on random/shuffle or something similar) until the battery dies. They'll have the screen off all that time and they simply won't touch it, in an attempt to get the longest time they can.
    ie. it won't simulate real-life use !
Few other things worth mentioning :
    - Battery life whilst playing videos is only 3 hours total, so playing any videos at all is going to make quite a difference
    - The battery life indicator is only a rough guide - it's not accurate
    - Don't get too obsessed with 'calibrating' the battery. Accoring to Apple, this isn't necessary because ""lithium-ion batteries, such as those used in iPod, have none of the memory effects seen in nickel-based rechargeable batteries."

My battery is getting drained in two hours after getting hot. What's the solution?

Do you mean your iPhone was exposed to high temperature and now the battey life is very short?  If so, take it to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs check the battery and see if it needs to be replaced.  Lithium-Ion batteries are very sensitive to high temperature so there may be damage to your battery if it got very hot.
