Nike Sensor not calibrating...

Just got an itouch (3gen) and the Nike sensor. Read all the instructions and went out to do a walk. While on it I noticed that it wasn't showing any distance and no pace.
I do not have Nike shoes but bought the Bean Pod to place the sensor in. Could it have something to do with it? I was reading somewhere too that there could be a possibility that the sensor is not in it correctly. Which way does it need to face?
Any help would be grateful!!
Edit
I think I figured it out and it was that the sensor was not position correctly. For others maybe having this issue the red part needs to be pointed upward.

I am wondering if u can edit your runs on Nike + website because my iphonw wont always let me calibrate to the right distance after my workout - When I run it says I am running like a six minute mile and I am running a 12 minute mile - weird and disappointing

  • Nike  sensor not logging distance

The last two times I've gone for a run (this morning and a couple of days ago) the sensor has activated with no problem and logged my time, but not my distance or how many calories I've burned. I thought maybe the runs would stay logged in my history, but after a few minutes they disappeared as well. I tried to sync to my Nike+ account to see if the distance/calories showed up online, but it doesn't even show up. However, it does show my last run on my iTunes.
I've seen that other people have had similar issues, but none of them seem to have been resolved. I have Nike+ shoes, so it's not a matter of the sensor moving around. I haven't used my Nike+ sensor since August of last year, so I don't know if that is the issue.

May be the sensor battery drained? Try this:  Start a run with the sensor and as you run check if the pace updates. If it is not updating it could probably be low battery on the sensor.
I had similar issue and after replacing sensor it worked fine for me.

  • Ipod+nike+sensor not communicating

NikePlus sensor not communicating w/ Ipod nano
Compaq   Windows 2000   Ipod Nano First gen

I'm having the same problem. My first sport kit worked for a couple of months then stopped being recognized by the ipod. I even went out and bought a 2nd sport kit that worked for about 30 days before it stopped working. I returned that one to the store and got another new one but the new one did not work at all so I just returned that one and got my money back. It's a shame because I really like the capability of keeping track of my runs automatically. I was over 650 miles since March, but now nothing. I'm very disappointed.

  • IPod 3G Nike+ Sensor not found..?

    Hi,
I have iPod 3G nano with 4gb and 1.1.3 firmware. Mac OS is 10.5.5 with new itunes. I bought nike + kit on ebay, i think used. And my iPod could not find the sensor. It says to walk with it a bit, but still it does not work. Could it be that the sensor's battery is dead? How could I tell that?
    Thank you in advance!

My guess is the sensor's battery is dead. Try taking it to an Apple store or elsewhere where iPod touches are sold and see if you can get the sensor to work with another iPod touch.

  • IPhone 3G tilt sensor not calibrated correctly

    Hi-
I activated an iPhone 3G today and I've noticed the tilt sensor is broken/mis-calibrated. An install of a iPhone 'level' app confirms that it is off by about 5 degrees. For instance, if I play a driving game and hold the phone level, I'll drive around in counter-clockwise circles
Is there a way to re-calibrate or did I get a dud?
    Thanks-
    -KR

Each app that incorporates the Phone's accelerometer typically has a calibrate feature built into the app.

  • IPod or sensor not tracking distance correctly for Nike +

Everytime i run with my Nike +, it is exactly .04 off per lap. For instance, one lap equals .25 miles, in the sensor's case...one lap equals .21 miles. So, whenever i run 8 laps, which should total 2 miles, the sensor says i have only ran 1.73 miles, and thinks i should run one more lap to complete a 2 mile run. I have calibrated the sensor and also received a new sensor thru Apple, however, the results are exactly the same. Am i doing something wrong? Could it be the IPod and not the sensor? Again, i have done this numerous times to see if the mileage i am running is correct, on a track and on a treadmill, and everytime the sensor is off by .o4 per lap. Please help if you can!!!!! Thank you

I have the Nike running shoes, so i know the sensor is placed correctly. And i also am running on the correct track length inside the white line. The 2 tracks i've used and the treadmill can't be off all the time by .04 each lap. For every lap i run, i will push the center button to get an update, and each time it is off by .04. I guess it is correctly off, but i would just like to get credit for my 2 miles, instead of 1.73 miles. It adds up. Could my stride just be a problem with the technology? Does running at a faster pace decrease or increase the capability of the sensor? The other thing that is off, is my pace of the mile. Because the Nike + does not give me credit for a complete 2 miles, and basically thinks i have one more lap to run, the pace is off by about a minute a mile too.

  • HT1602 Hi, does my iPhone need to be on the left side of my body to work well with the Nike+ sensor in my shoes? I used it on my right side and the calibration was so off point.

Hi, does my iPhone need to be on the left side of my body to work well with the Nike+ sensor in my shoes? I used it on my right side and the calibration was so off point. I recently got a Bluetooth headphone and the antennae is on the right ear piece. For seamless connection am required to have my iPhone on my right arm if am using the headphone outdoors.

I was wondering this too.  Did you ever get an answer?  I just bought a non-nike pair of sneakers and have a pod pouch now on my laces.  I have it tight, at the lower part of the laces so its flat.  When its on the left side my time is very similar to what it was when I used the nike shoes.  When it is on the right side, my time is about 35sec/mile higher.  I wonder which is more accurate and if you are supposed to have them on the same side.  If so, then that is as accurate as with my nike shoes.  Hope we get an answer soon.  Im about to return everything its so frustrating.

  • Nike+Ipod not picking up shoe sensor

Admittedly, I haven't used it in a while... but my Nike sensor isn't being picked up by my ipod (the menu appears, so I know it's not the ipod) Any ideas? Have tried pressing the little button at the back for one second but no change.

  • How can I determine what my sensor is calibrated at?

I sucessfully calibrated my Ipod with my Nike+ sensor, however, I do not know what a mile is calibrated at. I am getting ready to run a 1/2 Marathon this weekend, and I want it to be as accurate as possible. I typically run a 10 minute mile, but want to make sure my calibration is in that range, otherwise, I am afraid that I will be way off. I don't want to think I have a couple more miles to go when I am actually finished, or even worse, I don't want to think I am done when I still have a couple miles to go. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A mile is a mile, so I'm not sure I understand your question. The best way I've found to do a calibration is on a treadmill. Get the ipod prepared for the cal, get up to speed, and run the distance for the cal. I typically wait until the display on the treadmill reads 0.5 miles before starting the cal. The longer the calibration run, the more accurate it will be. Just remember that if you start at 0.5 miles, you need to go that far beyond the cal run... should be obvious, but eeasy enough to miss...
    Best of luck!

  • I can't calibrate my Nike+ sensor with my iPod 2G

I've just bought a nike+ sensor and there is a huge discrepancy in the distance given after my workouts (always is lower) with the real runned distance. I have tryed to calibrate several times (with 400m, 1Km, 1,2km) but it always say that I have not runned the distance of calibration and don't let me calibrate the sensor. Someone knows what I can do to calibrate my sensor?

Then you need to deauthorize another computer so you can authorize this one. If yo do not have the computers to deauthorize then yo can deauthorize all (you can only do that once every 12 months) and then authorize this one.

  • Do I Need to Purchase the Nike+ Ipod Sport Kit or Just the Nike Sensor

I'm a newbie to all of this. I am considering purchasing either the new Ipod Nano or the updated Ipod Touch (32). Would I need to purchase the Nike Sensor Kit if I purchase the Ipod touch or just the Nike sensor to insert in the shoe? Thanks in advance to whomever can provide guidance on this issue.

I can speak for a new iPod touch and tell you that you only need the sensor. That's what I have and I love it. I'm really enjoying Nike's website and the history it builds.
From what I understand about the new nano, it has some sort of pedometer built right in so you can get a calculation of steps all by itself. You can also add the nike sensor to get more information on your walk/run, I'm just not certain if its the whole kit you need or just the sensor in that instance.

  • Nike sensor stopped working mid-run

I have been using my nike and ipod for about 4 months - maybe once every 2 weeks. Yesterday while out running msg popped up saying sensor not found while i was running. No battery low msg, its not that old anyway. hit reset button on sensor, plugged in and out receiver, and turned on/off ipod and still wont recognise the sensor.
    Any ideas?

Same exact problem, only I've only been using the Nike+ for two weeks~ Can't find an answer and the support won't accept the serial number on it...........
