Nikon 28-300 mm f3.5-5.6 VR profile

If anyone is interested, I have created a profile for the new Nikon 28-300 VR lens.  I am sure adobe will be profiling this one, but in the meantime...

I use LightRoom 3.  I'm not sure what to do with the zip file after I extract it.  Any help is much appreciated.

  • Workflow photoshop cs3 on mac with nikon d200/300 camera

I already asked this question at the mac forum in here ...it dealed with the problem that i have noisy pictures anyway after having changed to ps cs3 under mac.Istill make the pictures with my nikon d200/300 camera and i have not chosen any higher iso number. I usually take the pictures in raw format transform them into tiff format after having finished my work and sometimes i produce jpegs out of the tiff file later on.In fact ,all the pictures have this noise effects . Has this got something to do with the colour depht menue in camera or cs3 maybe?

Probably has to do with your default sharpening & noise reduction settings.
If you're comparing to in-camera JPEGs then the JPEGs usually look smoother initially because the higher ISO images will have a fair amount of noise reduction applied.

  • Can't see a nikon d800 camera profile in adobe camera raw 8.2

    Hello,
I can't see a nikon d800 camera profile in adobe camera raw 8.2
When I open a NEF file from D800, I can see in upper left corner "Camera Raw 8.2 - Nikon D800", but when I open  "camera calibration" and click "camera profile", I can only see "Adobe standard, camera landscape, camera neutral, camera vivid" etc., but there is no "Nikon d800 profie
I copied .dpx files with that profile to:   C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles     ,but nothing happened.
Strange thing is that when I open a NEF file from old Nikon D80, in "camera profile" appears: "camera D2X mode1", "camera D2X mode2", "camera D2X mode3". Any ideas?

The profiles that you see listed are the profiles for the camera that took the photo.  You will not see the camera model listed.  Those are the profiles Adobe created for the camera that took the image.  You cannot change profiles to those of a different camera.
Apparently older Nikon cameras had the profiles you see listed for your D80.  I have those same profiles of as part of my D90 choices.  But, again apparently, those profiles are not part of newer cameras.  I wouldn't know, because I'm still using a D90.

  • Nikon D600 Camera Profiles Not Showing

Hello - I've spent hours trying to figure this out, but to no avail.  I'm running LR 4.3.  I have a Nikon D600 but am not able to see any profiles for it at the following path: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles.  It is my understanding that the D600 is now fully supported, yet I don't have the profiles for it in the Profiles folder (or anywhere else for that matter).  What am I missing?  Where are the D600 profiles?  Please help!
    Thanks!

Custom profiles in one of the Adobe places are ignored starting with LR 4.3, I think.
The place for user-created or third-party-downloaded profiles is where the Adobe DNG Profile Editor puts them, in the CameraProfiles folder, under:
    C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw
The AppData folder is hidden, so you either need to have your “Show Hidden Folders”  enabled in Windows Explorer Folder Options or you can just type it into your Explorer address bar and hit enter when you’ve gotten as far as the YourUserName part.

  • Tagging TIFF-files in Photoshop Elements 5

I'am still using Photoshop Elements 5, but the organizer refuses to tag my TIF-files from a Nikon  D 300 (tagging JPEG's is no problem).  Because I would like to continue saving my edited pictures as TIFF-files, I would be glad, if anybody could give me a hint how to manage this problem.

    1) NEF (RAW) + JPEG Fine. I load the NEF-file with the Editor into this opening frame (don't know it's name). After treating the picture there I choose "Open picture" (translated from German) and continue treating the picture with the Editor. At last I save it as a TIFF- or an JPEG-file.
    2) Yes
    3) After drawing the icon with the tag to the picture it is to be seen for about three seconds. If I choose a new category, this icon appears below the picture.
After this I choose "Save the tag- and featurecharacteristics with the photo" (translated from German) and get the answer: "The tag- and featurecharacteristics have been written into the file metadata" (translated from German).
If I load the photo/file into the Editor, there are tags/keywords within the files I before saved as JPEGs and no tags/keywords within the the files I before saved as TIFFs.

  • Help! my Aperture help menu is grayed out

I'm just getting my brand new Mac Pro set up, moving from a 2 1/2 year old Macbook. I have a long unsolved problem of having several libraries and their related vaults crashing, rendering inaccessible about 15,000 referenced images and their vaults. Typically what happens is that an Aperture library I've been using for a while quits almost instantly after opening, and the library's vault(s) can't be accessed at all. I've spent perhaps 30 1 To 1 training hours and many hours on the phone with appl care on this problem, and I'm very grateful for all their devoted effort, but we haven't had any luck understanding, much less solving, this problem.
The first time it happened, the library had 6 gigs of images in it from a weekend of shooting. I thought that having 6GBs free (of 55) might have something to do with it, but it kept happening to later libraries even after there were 25 GBs free. With each new library it seemed they would crash at a smaller size, even 1-2 GBs. So my strategy evolved into creating new libraries every few days so they wouldn't crash.
Has anyone had a similar problem and fixed it? Generally most of the folks helping me don't seem to think it's a computer problem, or a software problem, for that matter. Some think my camera (Nikon D70) might have been sending out an occasional corrupted image, but the crashes have continued with a Nikon D 300 I bought new a month ago, making that theory seem very untenable. I'm hoping that using the beastly Mac Pro will help with at least part of the problem. I needed it anyway because my shooting has become pretty high volume recently (3,000 12 MB images per week).
Any suggestions on a fix or a strategy for importing this mess into the Mac Pro? It sounds like the safest way to import is by project. I have about 20 libraries, about 5 of which are crashed, and about 100 projects. I'd really like to have the recommended 1-3 libraries, but it's pretty daunting to think of losing all my metadata and edits to a single crash.... Thanks for your interest.

My above Question should read: "_Several Libraries Quit upon Opening and their Vaults cannot be Accessed_".
(the grayed-out help menu problem was solved by re-launching Aperture.)

  • Photoshop and Bridge CS5 does not auto rotate SOME images.

Photoshop and Bridge CS5 does not rotate SOME of my vertical images.  Most other photos taken in the same time frame and with the same camera display perfectly.
Orientation is checked for display under Preferences, Metadata, Camera Data.
There also seems to be a discrepancy how Orientation is described under Metadata for those images which DO auto rotate : sometimes it is -90 (which is how I hold the camera for verticals and which displays on most verticals) and sometimes it is "normal" even when it has auto rotated the image.   I do not understand this difference.
"Normal" is also used to describe the orientation of those images which DO NOT auto rotate for viewing.
The photos in questions were taken using a Nikon D-300 which is programmed to indicate the orientation of the camera and has always been programmed to do so.
I know I can manually change the orientation but we are talking about hundreds of images (I have over 10,000 photos in all; most of which display fine).
What should I be looking for to explain and correct this issue?
I appreciate anything you can do to help.  Thank you.

Thanks for responding to my query.  I'll check out the thumbnail size.
It is just so curious that 90% of the verticals auto rotate and the rest do not.  The ones that do not rotate are even from different years (other images in those years work fine), although all taken with the same camera.

  • Exif data from sb-800 flash (d70 camera)

    Hi
Ive seen that aperture provides more exif data than iphoto or Photoshop elements. I did a test where I tried my various flash settings, ttl-balanced light, ttl (regular) but I don't see any differentiation in the exif data. This is important when reviewing images to see which I took using each setting, and learning which would be most useful in various sitations.
Anyone who has a similar setup or has used exif for these type of flashes? If so, please post and perhaps let me know what I'm missing here.
    Thank you
    Greg

    Hi
Thanks for the reply, and yes Capture NX does have this information there, I find this very useful for analysis of flash photos and what works best in different settings.
    May I ask:
    1. I have a VR Nikon 70-300 lens but the vr data is blank even in Capture NX (although I downloaded 1.3.1. Do you have a vr lens and was this data available?
    2. At a first glance, it appears aperture has more exif data than Capture but perhaps the specific data that Capture NX has is more useful?
    3. If you've used both Capture NX and Aperture (and/or other apps) for those with Nikon cameras which did you find most useful?
    Thanks

  • Lens Profile Missing for Tiffs

The lens profile for the Nikon 28-300 is listed under Lens Corrections when using raw files. But if you import a Tiff or a PSD, it's not there (other lenses ARE there)
Any way to get that profile to show up when working with tiffs or psds?  thanks
    I'm using LR 4.1

Each lens profile is originally generated either from Raw or from non-Raw test shots. Accordingly, the profile is marked as suitable for correcting either Raw, or non-Raw pictures taken with that same lens on that same camera format. So it will either show up, or not, in the automatic lens profile detection of LR or of ACR depending on the type of file involved.
Generally speaking, only Raw specific profiles are made available for many lenses... because that is the principal demand. The usual case will be that lens correction has previously happened, from the original Raw data, as part of Lightroom's general processing that has gone into any TIFF created; hence, that TIFFs can be normally assumed not to be in need of such.
This separation of two kinds of lens profile is clearly necessary in some cases; for example where aberration correction will have been already applied by the camera, but to its JPG output only; and/or, where LR is doing some (possibly different) automatic lens correction "silently", for Raw - as with its support for some m43 systems.
However where this is not the case - where no prior correction is in question - a Raw-specific lens profile can be "kludged" so as to be perfectly usable with TIFF, JPG etc - which is far better than nothing.
The way to do this is to make a duplicate copy of the profile (.lcp) concerned - changing its filename slightly to suit. Then in a text editor, in this copy, change the line which refers to "CameraRawProfile" from True to False. That's it!
If there is some double correction going on, the option is also there to selectively disable profile-based correction of vignetting, or of geometric distortion, or else to disable CA removal, as appropriate - and to then save that option into a preset or as your LR processing default.

  • Lens Correction Feature

I have the latest version of Lightroom, 3.4.1.
Lately, I have been using the Lens Correction feature more and more.
I have 3 Nikon lenses and one Tamron lens.
I have noticed that when I check the box to Enable Profile Corrections, it automatically finds the correction if it is one of the 3 Nikon lenses.
However, if the image was taken using the Tamron lens (28 - 300 mm), LR does not automatically find the profile.  The message is "Unable to locate a matching profile automatically."  When I enter "Tamron" in the Lens Profile Make, then LR automatically finds this particular lens.
Is there a reason LR finds the profile fully automatically for the Nikon lenses but does not do so for the Tamron lens?
    Thanks

I did what I think you are suggesting, and this is what happened.
I went to a picture taken with that Tamron lens.  I clicked on "Enable Profile Corrections."  At that point, "None" showed in the Make field as well as in the Model and Profile fields.
I then selected "Tamron" to be in the Make field.  Both the Model and Profile fields then were populated (and, the Model field was populated with the correct 28 -300 mm lens).
Then under "Setup," I did select "Save New Lens Profile Defaults."
I went to the next picture and again selected "Enable Profile Corrections."  This time, the Make, Model, and Profile fields were properly populated because that next picture was taken with that 28 - 300 mm Tamron lens.
However, I skipped a few pictures ahead, to a shot taken with a Nikon lens, and this time when I selected "Enable Profile Corrections," instead of putting the Nikon lens information in those fields, it put the Tamron 28 - 300 mm lens information in those fields.
It appears as if perhaps I will have to "Save New Lens Profile Defaults" every time I go to a new photo which uses a different lens, unless I am not understanding what you have suggested to do.
    Thanks

  • Problem with photomerge in CC

    Hello,
I dispose of 11 pictures that I can easily photomerge with CS6 to a perfect panorama.
With the same pictures I can not do it in CC ... not even with 7 of them.
I succeed doing it with five only ...
Can someone tell me what's going on ?
    Best regards,
    ji-em
P.S. I just succeeded photomerging 7 pictures but only when
done in Auto. But I would like to do so in cylindric way ...
    P.S. 2: Some more details.
    11 pictures taken in RAW with a Nikon D4 + 300 mm f 2.8
All pictures were first developed in ACR.
    No accentuation of sharpness applied.
    Noise reduction appliend.
    Objectiv correction applied.
Then all pictures were opened in CC via Bridge CC (photomerge).
After ca. 30 Sec. the program collapsed ... again and again.
I tried this workflow with different series of pictures. The all
worked fine with CS6 ... but CC did never manage to do it.
Really wondering if someone here can help me ... ?
    Thanks in advance ... anyway.

hello - did you find a solution for this?

  • HDR Pro Crashing

Using Canon 5d MkII Raw files on new Macbook Pro 13" -  HDR Pro crashes and the operation disappears within Photoshop CS5 about 3/4 through the hdr conversion.  HDR Pro works fine with converted TIFF files.  Any ideas what this may occur or perhaps this may be a bug?   Appreciate suggestions...

    Chris:
We've been in contact before about my problem with HDR crashing as well as Photomerge and Load into Photoshop Layers.  What I haven't mentioned since I only recently discovered this, is that these problems are intermittent.  Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.  When they work, they work like a champ. For HDR I can load 10 raw files (NEF) and it works beautifully.  I've successfully loaded as many as 30 files into Photoshop layers. Then it just stops working for the very same files.  I've tried Restart on my computer to "clear the decks" and again sometimes this works and sometimes not.  In another vein I have reported that I have a different problem, in that when I duplicate a Background layer and apply a rotation to the copy, both it AND the Background rotate.  This problem is also sporadic.
Unlike some of others who have weighed in about the HDR problem, it doesn't seem to matter what camera (I have had both the Nikon D200 & 300) or the file type.  I have tried TIFF, JPEG and NEF files.
I should mention that since I've had this problem, I make sure that nothing else is operating at the same time to maximize RAM.  I don't know that me telling you that these problems come and go helps a diagnosis but since I am no computer expert, I thought I would mention it anyway.

  • Tags bei Tiff-Dateien in PSE 5

    Hallo!
