Nikon 55-300 AF-S VR lens?

When will Best Buy begin selling this new lens?

Hi pdk9nero,
We should have this lens available for purchase soon, and the best I can suggest is to keep your eyes open!
I hope this helps!

  • Workflow photoshop cs3 on mac with nikon d200/300 camera

I already asked this question at the mac forum in here ...it dealed with the problem that i have noisy pictures anyway after having changed to ps cs3 under mac.Istill make the pictures with my nikon d200/300 camera and i have not chosen any higher iso number. I usually take the pictures in raw format transform them into tiff format after having finished my work and sometimes i produce jpegs out of the tiff file later on.In fact ,all the pictures have this noise effects . Has this got something to do with the colour depht menue in camera or cs3 maybe?

Probably has to do with your default sharpening & noise reduction settings.
If you're comparing to in-camera JPEGs then the JPEGs usually look smoother initially because the higher ISO images will have a fair amount of noise reduction applied.

  • Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 Lens

Any idea when BB might have the Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 lens in again? I noticed it up on the site last week but was sold out online. Thanks!

    Hey jburnesz,
This lens was pulled from our product offerings on BestBuy.com because we are currently out of stock of this lens (and have been for a while). As soon as we get more of this lens in stock it should be made available for sale once again on our site.

  • Nikon 50/1.4 D create lens profile

    Hi
I need to be able to get or create a nikon 50/1.4 D lens profil for Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 (15.1).
    Can anybody help me here?
    Michael

    thanks for fast response!
i dont think the program not recognising the lens setting is the problem because nikon camera allow you to manually put in the setting before shooting (focal length and aperture), so right now ALPC is doing fine putting them into group.
the thing that i am confused is we actually should "separate lcp file for each set so that you could apply them separately" as you said?
am not sure if i understand this correctly but so i should create for example 10 set and use them accordingly?
    eg.
use 45 f2.8 at minimum focus profile while i shoot similar to this condition versus another profile which optimise for 45 f11 at infinity?
i thought that we can combine them into one file and not having tons of small file?
(in the manual it says something about appending file but i could not get that to work. is that suppposes to work with zoom lens that has mutiple focal lengths only or it supposes to work with lens with mutiple apertures too?)
so i guess my basic question is:
how to get ALPC to recognise and combine the profile that shot using various aperture and focus distance? will ALPC do it automatically or else?
    regards

  • I want to enter the info specific to my camera and lens into the lens corrections options in P'shop 2014 and L'room 2015 but they're not on the list. (Nikon D-750 with 24-120 lens). How do I fix this?

I recently upgraded from a Nikon D-7000 to a D-750 with the Nikkor 24-120 mm lens but they aren't on the list of options in either P'shop or Lightroom under camera and lens profiles. Since every tutorial I viewed on the 24-120 lens suggested fixing the distortion issues in P'shop, how do I make the choice without those specific products being on the list? (P'shop 2014, L'room 2015)

A few do shoot in JPEG...I definitely do not!
    You're welcome!

  • Lens Profile Missing for Tiffs

The lens profile for the Nikon 28-300 is listed under Lens Corrections when using raw files. But if you import a Tiff or a PSD, it's not there (other lenses ARE there)
Any way to get that profile to show up when working with tiffs or psds?  thanks
    I'm using LR 4.1

Each lens profile is originally generated either from Raw or from non-Raw test shots. Accordingly, the profile is marked as suitable for correcting either Raw, or non-Raw pictures taken with that same lens on that same camera format. So it will either show up, or not, in the automatic lens profile detection of LR or of ACR depending on the type of file involved.
Generally speaking, only Raw specific profiles are made available for many lenses... because that is the principal demand. The usual case will be that lens correction has previously happened, from the original Raw data, as part of Lightroom's general processing that has gone into any TIFF created; hence, that TIFFs can be normally assumed not to be in need of such.
This separation of two kinds of lens profile is clearly necessary in some cases; for example where aberration correction will have been already applied by the camera, but to its JPG output only; and/or, where LR is doing some (possibly different) automatic lens correction "silently", for Raw - as with its support for some m43 systems.
However where this is not the case - where no prior correction is in question - a Raw-specific lens profile can be "kludged" so as to be perfectly usable with TIFF, JPG etc - which is far better than nothing.
The way to do this is to make a duplicate copy of the profile (.lcp) concerned - changing its filename slightly to suit. Then in a text editor, in this copy, change the line which refers to "CameraRawProfile" from True to False. That's it!
If there is some double correction going on, the option is also there to selectively disable profile-based correction of vignetting, or of geometric distortion, or else to disable CA removal, as appropriate - and to then save that option into a preset or as your LR processing default.

    Sale: $2269.99
Hello, I have been looking into purchasing a Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 lens and was considering the purchase (order online or from the store) from Best Buy.  However, the price at Best Buy is $2270 and $1700-$1900 everywhere else and without tax if you purchase from the big NY camera shops.
I understand that BB needs to have some overhead built in because of their corporate structure.  A good example is the pricing difference between BB and those same NY online stores for the Nikon 70-200 VR2.  Best Buy has it for $2400 and they have it for $2160.  Thats about a 10% over price.  The 24-70 is about a 25% over price.
Is it possible that the 24-70 Nikon price is a miss print?  I'd like to take advantage of the 18 month financing at BB but not at a $470+ penalty.
    Thanks!

    UnChained,
    After
reading your initial post I also thought it was a bit strange that we were
selling this lens above MSRP. Because of this I have sent an email to the
appropriate business team here at our corporate headquarters asking them if the
price we have this lens listed at is correct. As soon as I hear back from them
I will post back to this thread.

  • Nikon 10-24 Lens Correction

I just discovered Lightroom's lens correction presets for specific lenses. While many of my Nikon lenses are listed, my latest lens (the Nikon 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED) is not listed. It's one of Nikon's newest lenses.
I'd like to be able to quickly correct distortion in my photos. Does Lightroom add additional lenses over time to their list of presets?
If not, are there 3rd party presets for correction that I could take advantage of?
    Thanks!

    Start here: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lensprofile_creator/
And read the manual, especially the shooting guide.  It's really not all that hard.

  • Nikon Lens Warranty

I purchased a Nikon D5000DX DSLR with 18-55 lens camera kit that came with a Nikon AF-S DX VR 55-200MM F/4-5.6G lens, Nikon D-SLR camera bag and Sandisk Ultra 8GB SDHC on 6/22/10 at store # 200 after saving up for it for almost 1 year. I love the camera and lens and have taken many pictures. When I opened the bag today to get the camera, I noticed that the AF-S DX VR 55-200MM F/4-5.6G lens was not connected to the camera as it was when I put it back in the bag the other day. When I tried to mount it, it would not stay. When I looked at the lens I realized that a very small piece of plastic was missing from the lens which has resulted from the lens mounting correctly. I know I have a 1 year warranty from Nikon and need to know what to do next? Do I bring it in to Best Buy (my preference) or do I need to go through Nikon? I would like to get the lens repaired or replaced as soon as possible as I am leaving for a vacation shortly and really would like to have this lens available. As such, I would appreciate a quick response.
Thank you in advance for your prompt assistance in this matter.
    Jeff {removed per forum guidelines}.

    Hi Jeff,
I'm sure discovering that your lens was broken was upsetting to say the least, and I can completely understand not wanting to be without this lens while on vacation.
As long as the problem with your lens is a defect, and not damage to the lens, the repair of your lens should be covered by your manufacturer's warranty. To arrange for service under your warranty just bring the lens to the Geek Squad® precinct in your local Best Buy® store, and they should be able to send it off to be serviced under the manufacturer's warranty.
You can of course send the lens to Nikon directly, and instructions on how to do this are under the Service and Support tab on their website.
If you have any further questions just ask!

  • Lens Correction For Nikon 24-120

I use this lens as a periodic walk around lens. As it does not show up in LightRoom 3 Lens Correction Develop module, I have to export the nef file into CS5 and open lens crrection there. It still does not show up but if I do a search there within that Lens Correction  filter, it is found and I can apply the correction, and then take the .psd file now back to LightRoom 3. Now I have two files. The original .nef file and a psd file, the latter of which only has the lens correction applied to it.
Is there a way to d/l the lens correction profile for this lens and include it in the list already supplied by CS5 and LightRoom3. This really is a pain to correct the shot vis this method and a waste of time. Thanks for your help..
    Tunney

My OS is  XP. Yes I found the folder you mention but don't see a list of
profiles in there. When you take the file into PS5 and go to Lens
Correction, the profile for that lens is not included. But there is a search
capability there which when hit, searches the web for the profile and brings
up the Nikon profile for that lens. It is probably made by Nikon itself. It
is not marked as a community profile but as a Nikon profile for that lens..
I should send you a jpeg file with that lens and let you go into CS5 and
Lens Correction and do the search at which time you will see what I am
referring to. Unless you have this lens yourself, you would be able tyo do
    the same thing.
I don't know if I am making myself clear here. It is not a community profile
that is found in the search in CS5 but is listed as a Nikon profile for the
24-120 lens. I don't use this lens that much but do periodically use it as a
    walk around lens.

  • Lens profiles for Nikon lenses

    Hello,
Does anyone know a site where users have posted lens profiles that they have made for the Nikon lenses which are NOT included in the Photoshop CS 5 software?
I have a Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 lens that needs correction when shooting at or near 17mm - and I hate to have to make my own profile if someone has already done it.  I have used the profile supplied by Adobe for my Nikon 10.5mm fisheye lens - and it is spectacular!
Is there a master site where users have posted lens profiles for Nikon lenses?

Not yet, Dick. But please stay tuned ... there's something cookin' ...

  • Lens Profile: designating a default.

For my 6D I took the 70-300 VC Tamron as my longer reach walkabout lens. Lightroom has a humongous number of Tamron lens profiles, several of them for every each lens, with some cryptic acronyms. Is there any place where one could find out what they mean?
Furthermore, its always a bit of a hassle to select the proper profile for the 70-300 VC lens. Lightroom always points to the much older non-VC lens. It might be a problem of the EOS-6D and/or Tamron EXIF data itself, that the brand of the lens is not recognized by Lightroom. One has to to select Tamron as the brand manually for every image.
Lightroom points than to "70-300 f/4-5.6 Di A 17E" but there exist also a profile 17N, 17P and 17F. Furthermore, below I see tro profiles for the VC version, and one more for a non-VC 70-300.
    SP 70-300 F/4-5.6 Di USD A005S
    SP 70-300 F/4-5.6 Di VC USD A005E
    SP 70-300 F/4-5.6 Di VC USD A005N
Maybe the missing VC is a typo only. I take the A005E on a hunch, and I do not see any difference to the A005N. Maybe "E" is for Canon FE mount, and N is for Nikon's F mount?
This lens make and model issue seem to be more complicated: I used to own a 17-35 F/2.8-4 for my Nikons. The D300, and a few years later the D7000 have both recorded lens data in such a way, that Lightroom always assumed that the lens is made by Nikon: The default profile was (Make: Nikon, Model: 17-35 F/2.8-4, Profile: D700 17-35- F/2.8-4). Of course no such lens exist from Nikon, the profile was probably donwloaded by me using the Lens Profile Downloader. Maybe its author was confused about the "make of lens" versus "make of mount". The profile name might be just a string, thus Lightroom does not know that its not a proper profile.  But the real mystery starts when I change the 'Make' from Nikon to Tamron: Lightroom selects than the following Adobe made profile(??):
    18-200 F/3.5-6.3 DiII A14N
(Of course a battery of profiles for 18-200 exist as well.) Wow, how comes? I noted this with LR3 and LR4 already, no improvement in LR5. A profile for a Tamron 17-35 exist though in the profile list, albeit I think I also downloaded it using the Adobe profile downloader tool:
SP AF Aspherical Di LD [IF] 17-35mm f/2.8-4 o77
    That's a long one :-).
I am  not sure if all the issues can be resolved, considering the mix of Adobe provided, and user made lens profiles, albeit chosing a 18-200 lens for a 17-35 sure appears like a bug to me.
Can we actually select a default profile to a lens / mount pair, matching the lens in use?
Maybe the trick would be to find the profile files and to remove the profiles of lenses which we do not have?
    Thomas.

There are a plethora of Tamron Lens Profiles, because Adobe provide them for Canon, Nikon, Pentax and Sony. The profiles are quite easy to find and remove, but each time you update/upgrade they will return.
I seem to recall that there have been problems with 3rd party lenses not identifying themselves properly before. I can't remember why, but I'm sure if somebody knows they will post.

    Drop-shadows
Drop-shadows under images both in Loupe and Grid view on Windows (only on Mac before). Though, in Loupe mode, they are somewhat buggy (they don't show until you zoom in and out) and jerky (as you move through the images, there's a visible lag between drawing the picture and it's shadow).
    Responsiveness in Develop
Also, I was surprised (and what a nice surprise that is) to see that the changes applied in Develop module are now applied almost real-time! If you look carefully in 1:1, you can see that the changes are first reflected by a lower quality proxy images, then, in a fraction of a second, re-rendered on the actual image. At least on my machine it was much slower before.
