  • Nikon 28-300 mm f3.5-5.6 VR profile

If anyone is interested, I have created a profile for the new Nikon 28-300 VR lens.  I am sure adobe will be profiling this one, but in the meantime...

  • I have recently purchased a Nikon D7100 and can no longer use Photoshop CS5 to process RAW files. What are my solutions ?

I am sure this has been asked before for similar new camera buyers, but as I have made a sizeable investment in purchasing PS 5  less than one year ago, I expect ADOBE to have an upgrade available for my new Nikon D7100 camera.
Other Software makers usually have upgrades available to download for new cameras not long after they are released.
I have seen on some photography forums where other users of my camera model have asked the same question as myself without receiving  any positive advice other than to up grade to PS 6. A few suggestions do not work or are possibly illegal.
Under consumer laws, in many countries, software makers are obliged to maintain support for a reasonable period of time after release.
Come on Adobe, please help the many thousands of PS 5 and Lightroom users to use the Adobe software that they have purchased in good faith and we will move to PS 6 or 7 or 8 when we are ready.
Can we please expect an answer to this problem any time soon ?

Why did you purchase an obsolete version? One year ago Photoshop CS6 had already been out a while.
    According to this list
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
support for that camera was added with Camera Raw 7.4, which means CS6 at least.

This is a user to user Forum, so you are not really addressing Adobe here, even though some Adobe employees thankfully have been dropping by.
Adobe is not in the habit of adding support for new cameras to obsolete versions of Camera Raw.
But it offers the free DNG Converter.
Edit: Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows
And camera makers are free to adopt DNG if they want to make their cameras’ output easily editable with non-proprietary software, but it seems many of them simply don’t want that.

  • Can't see a nikon d800 camera profile in adobe camera raw 8.2

    Hello,
I can't see a nikon d800 camera profile in adobe camera raw 8.2
When I open a NEF file from D800, I can see in upper left corner "Camera Raw 8.2 - Nikon D800", but when I open  "camera calibration" and click "camera profile", I can only see "Adobe standard, camera landscape, camera neutral, camera vivid" etc., but there is no "Nikon d800 profie
I copied .dpx files with that profile to:   C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles     ,but nothing happened.
Strange thing is that when I open a NEF file from old Nikon D80, in "camera profile" appears: "camera D2X mode1", "camera D2X mode2", "camera D2X mode3". Any ideas?

The profiles that you see listed are the profiles for the camera that took the photo.  You will not see the camera model listed.  Those are the profiles Adobe created for the camera that took the image.  You cannot change profiles to those of a different camera.
Apparently older Nikon cameras had the profiles you see listed for your D80.  I have those same profiles of as part of my D90 choices.  But, again apparently, those profiles are not part of newer cameras.  I wouldn't know, because I'm still using a D90.

  • Nikon Nikkor 18-55 (non-VR), 55-200 VR

I shot images for and made two profiles, available here (and also submitted to Adobe).
    NIKON 18.0-55.0 mm f/3.5-5.6
    NIKON 55.0-200.0 mm f/4.0-5.6
Both were shot under similar conditions:
indirect evening sunlight (even and relatively bright, but possibly changing in intensity)
8.5"x11" print on plain paper (crisp and high contrast, but subject to a little warping)
from a tripod (only pivoting the camera during each iteration, not panning)
one focal distance per focal length, all at f11 and ISO 100
nine images per shooting iteration (except one of the 18-55's iterations, for which I forgot one image)
    three iterations for the 18-55 (18, 35, 55); five for the 55-200 (55, 70, 102, 135, 200)
RAW images (NEF, converted to DNG for the profile creator)
default settings except for entering dimensions for the profile creator
    using a Nikon D40x
I posted a few example images are included as well, in case they are of interest. (If anyone is interested in the RAW images, I'd be glad to share those as well.)

I have moved the profiles (retiring the server which I had them on before): http://www.markfickett.com/lensprofiles/.

  • Profile for Nikon AFS 17-35 f/2.8?

Is there a profile available for Nikon AFS 17-35 f/2.8?  I cannot find it.

You're welcome for the info. and profile.
Yes, you should back the lens profile from the user contributed database, up to your local machine (your own hard drive) so you will not have to search for it each time.
WIthin Photoshop CS5, in the Lens Profile menu(that you have reached by choosing "Filter" on the top menu, then "Lens Correction"), you will see the middle menu on the right which states "Lens Profiles". Immediately to the right of this title is a small icon, that looks like a miniature triangle with lines beside it. Click it (left click). Choose "Save Online Profile locally". The profile is automatically saved to this location(I use WIndows XP and it varies according to your operating system):
    C:\Documents and Settings\HP Owner\Application data\Adobe\Camera Raw\Lens Profiles\1.0
    Downloaded
The file is not named well, I tried this with the D3S Profile and it is named with mixed up letters about 50 letters long. I would rename the file(right click the file and choose rename) to something more obvious, like "Nikon 17-35mm f2.8 AFS RAW" or such, and leave the extension as it is, which is .lcp.
Thus the lens profile is saved to your hard disk and Adobe should find it and show the new name if you renamed it,when you invoke the Lens Profile command and you have an image (Raw) shot with that lens and the exif data shows that lens to be the one taking the image.

  • Improvements for Nikon and upgrading from 3.6

I read on another forum that version 4's camera profiles for the Nikon D3 and D700 have improved to prevent the "too bright" problem. Are these profiles available without a full upgrade to version 4? Also, I purchased version 3.4 last summer, and I'm guessing I would have to pay an upgrade fee to move up to version 4. True?

Thanks, Lee. I just got a new PC and did a fresh 3.6 install, so they should be there. I was playing with it last night and didn't quite see the v4 camera profiles. I'll check again. Is there a way to remove/disable the v2/v3 versions so I don't have to sift through them?

  • Nikon Camera Profiles - LR6 CC

    Hello,
Today I took a few photos and noticed in LR6 CC that not all of the photos have the Nikon V2 profiles available.  Some photos do and some do not.
I'm not sure why?  Shouldn't the v2 profiles be available to all photos ?
Is there something I am missing?

    Nikon 24-70 2.8

You can download the V2 beta profiles for the D700 here: http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2010/03/new_nikon_d3_and_d700_camera_v.html. These are the ones I use with my D700.

  • 3.3 RC - need camera profile for Nikon D7000?

I'm kind of a knucklehead about Adobe so please be patient with me....
I have a Nikon D7000 (not a D700).  Downloaded 3.3 RC and can edit my RAW pics - works for me.
But there are no profiles in the camera calibration.  What am I missing ?  Is it a Camera Raw update?
Maybe one of you folks can explain this to me.
    Thanks, Michael.

No, Lightroom does not use the ACR plug-in.  The camera profiles are part of the Lightroom installation.  I don't have a D7000, but I recall reading in another thread that there was an Adobe Standard profile available.  My guess is that this is preliminary support until the other regular profiles can be created.  I might be wrong.

  • Mavericks support for Nikon AW1 NEF

Any timescale for when Mavericks can support Nikon AW1 NEF files? So far no preview is available in Mavericks for the NEFs, I have to use Adobe bridge to view them
    Kind regards,

Yes, this is really interesting since all the Nikon 1:s of this generation are exactly the same inside. What is really the problem? Is Nikon the probelm?
I switched to Lightroom now, so I can use the raw format from my AW1, but my wife still uses iPhoto so she is very frustrated. I don't see why the compatibility issue shouldn't be solved the same day a camera hits the stores.
If there isn't a problem in the communication between Canon/Nikon etc. and Apple.
Anyway, the biggest looser is Apple and their iPhoto/Aperture apps and that's too bad.

  • Lens Profile for Nikon P7100

Looking for a lens profile for my Nikon D7100.  The default in LR 4 comes up with a P6000 and a different lens than my P7100.  Where can I find user developed profiles or those available from Adobe for download?

    Read here:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/lensprofile_creator.html
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lensprofile_creator/
Add: I just checked and there is no profile available for the P7100. Unfortunately, nobody created one so far, so you'll have to do it yourself.

    Dear Adobe Lightroom team,

  • Nikon D600 Camera Profiles Not Showing

Hello - I've spent hours trying to figure this out, but to no avail.  I'm running LR 4.3.  I have a Nikon D600 but am not able to see any profiles for it at the following path: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles.  It is my understanding that the D600 is now fully supported, yet I don't have the profiles for it in the Profiles folder (or anywhere else for that matter).  What am I missing?  Where are the D600 profiles?  Please help!
    Thanks!

Custom profiles in one of the Adobe places are ignored starting with LR 4.3, I think.
The place for user-created or third-party-downloaded profiles is where the Adobe DNG Profile Editor puts them, in the CameraProfiles folder, under:
    C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw
The AppData folder is hidden, so you either need to have your “Show Hidden Folders”  enabled in Windows Explorer Folder Options or you can just type it into your Explorer address bar and hit enter when you’ve gotten as far as the YourUserName part.
