Nikon CoolPix L100 et al "battery exhausted" message

Searched and was reading post reguarding "battery exhausted" issue with these and other cameras. I just was handed down a CoolPix L100 with this issue. This procedure worked for me. (1)Install new batteries. (2)Power Camera On. (3)While camera is powered on, open the battery door to disconnect the batteries. (4)Reclose door and power up the camera. Like I said, worked for me. I also updated the firmware, which can be found on Nikon's Website <http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16481/sort/4,2/r_id/116678>

Hi cfb61,
I was glad to hear you found a way to resolve the issue you were having with Nikon L100 you just received, and would thank you for sharing your results with the community!
Thanks for posting,

  • Nikon Coolpix L100 Battery Exhausted Problem

    Hi,
I have recently bought a new Nikon Coolpix L100 Camera just 6 days back from a Best Buy Store. I am running with Battery Exhausted issue for each turn on. Even I tried to change the new battery , the problem doesn't change any behaviour and the outcome is remain same. I am really helpless to find out the cause of this problem whether this is a problem with the Camera or with Battery. As I have purchased this recently , I would like to replace this.
Please help me out on this.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Anil

    Hi anilkhamari,
If you've tried using brand new AA batteries, and you continue to have issues with your new camera having no power, Nokia is most likely correct that your camera is defective.
With that being said there are certain measures you can take to conserve battery power, and enhance how long your camera has power. First thing you could try is using Lithium AA batteries. This type of battery will have a much longer charge than the average alkaline battery. The LCD is the part of the battery that uses the most power by far, and there are usually settings on a camera that can save power by adjusting the brightness level of its LCD. I would also suggest you make sure the power button is always turned off while the camera isn't being used, and that it isn't inadvertently being turned on while in your camera bag.
If you do feel like your camera is defective you should be able to return or exchange the purchase as long as it was purchased in the last 14 days, and the purchase is older than 14 days you should be able to get it repaired by the cameras manufacturer's warranty. I would suggest bringing it to your local Best Buy® store, and they should be able to take care of you.
    I hope this helps!

  • HT4101 When I connect my Nikon coolpix S9200 to the camera adaptor I get a message saying this device uses too much power, how can I overcome tis

When I connect my Nikon coolpix S9200 to the camera adaptor I get a message saying this device uses too much power, how can I overcome this?

You are probably seeing this message because the camera uses the same port to charge it. The iPad can not supply the power to charge devices from it's dock connector. Also if you use the SD card adapter you are not using up the camera's battery for transferring the photos.

  • Suddenly my Nikon Coolpix will not upload onto my 09 iphoto it takes for ever then it just shows blank squares no pics and a message that states it cannot read the JPEG files. Can anyone help me, please.

Suddenly my Nikon Coolpix will not upload on to my 09 iphoto it takes for ever then it just shows blank squares no pics and a message that states it cannot read the JPEG files. Can anyone help me, please. I have never had this problem before.

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
You could also try reformat the Card with your camera

  • HT4101 I have a NIKON COOLPIX P500 but am unable to download photos through the IPad camera connection kit. I have tried to use the Sandisk card also - no result. Any suggestions? The Ipad does not "see" the card or camera?

I have a Nikon Coolpix P500 but am unable to download photos from it to my iPad2 via the iPad Camera Connection kit. The iPad does not see either the Sandisk 8GB card or the Nikon camera. I have turned the camera on, but it seems that the camera just want to recharge its battery through the iPad as the iPad states that the devices draws too much power?? Anybodu solved this problem yet? Advise please?

One thing to check is the format that the camera is saving pics to the card in. Many are selectable and, in most cases, if PTP is one of the options then you need to have that one selected for the files to be visible to iOS and the CCK (connection kit).
Another thing which sometimes comes up, especially with older cameras and therefore probably not with yours, is the filenaming conventions used by the camera. iOS is quite strict about what it expects to see and if files are being stored with unsupported name formats then they simply won't be seen at all.

  • RAW files from Nikon Coolpix 5400 - are they unsupported by Aperture?

I have recently updated the firmware on my Nikon Coolpix 5400 to version 1.4 in order to get RAW capability. Unfortunately the NEF/RAW files I create are not compatible with Aperture and I get an "Unsupported Image Format" message that may be similar to the one that other users have highlighted in relation to the OSX 10.4.9 update.
I am able to use all images previously imported and also Fine (JPG) images generated by the 5400 as well as RAW images generated by a D70 and a D200.

  • PS Album S.E. 3.2 and Nikon coolpix P90

photo download with Nikon Transfer works without wny problems, but i don't like it as PS Album s.e..
    thank for your answer!

Similar to iTunes, the tags and collections are stored in the catalog file, which is not removed in a reinstallation, and would be read after reinstallation.

  • Nikon Coolpix S570

Got some help from the Geniuses at the store today. It appears that the software on Nikon Coolpix S570 cameras is not compatible with iphoto. When uploading, there is an error message saying that the files are unreadable. However, when using a universal media reader, there is no problem uploading them. The upload from the camera onto a PC works fine, but it doesn't appear to be compatible with the Mac.

If you're certain that your camera was shipped without any Mac software at all, I'm astonished. A Mac version of PictureProject is listed among the things included in the package on Nikon's web site for the 5900. The current version can also be downloaded here.
Apart from installing PictureProject, which may or may not function as a driver, all I can suggest is that you buy a USB card reader and transfer your pictures through that — if you can. If the card can't be mounted or read that way (with the camera entirely out of the picture), the card itself is corrupt, and you may want to try using PhotoRescue or MediaRecover to salvage the pictures off it. Then reformat the card in your camera — not through the Mac. It's safest never to format or erase a card or, in fact, to edit its contents in any way while it's connected to a Mac. Tinkering with their contents on a Mac is probably the most common way cards are corrupted.
After reformatting the card, test again to see whether connecting the camera to the Mac works as it used to.

  • Uploading from Nikon Coolpix S01

Can you transfer photos from a Nikon Coolpix S01to iPad 2? My daughter got one as a present and gets the dreaded "device uses too much power" message. We've tried advice in old forums to switch off on 'computer charge' on camera but still no luck.  Any suggestions please.

This is the same problem I am having.  I contacted Apple support with no help.  I contacted Nikon, as well, to see if the iPad photo kit would support this Nikon s01, and they had no clue.  This is very frustrating.  The connection kit and camera would download on my iMac using iPhoto, so I suspect there is a problem with the iPad connection.  I fully charged camera and the same error cones up.  Can anyone get this to work?

  • New Nikon Coolpix P1 -- cranky importing

My daughter just got a Nikon Coolpix P1 camera.
When we plug in the camera and start importing as usual the thing seems cranky. It gave me an error message:
"the following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or files may not contain valid data)" followed by a list of all the photos.
I turned off, unplugged, replugged, turned on, shut down other programs, bla bla bla and after a few tries it finally did work.
Now I wonder if there are things I should do, setting to set, etc. that will avoid these problems in the future.
My other camera -- a fuji -- I just plug it in and download. Why would this be cranky?
The camera is wifi equiped but I did this download hardwired through USB. Also it comes with a photo management program but I did not install hoping to just stick to iPhoto.
    Any thoughts?
    Many thanks

    James
Add me to the list of annoyed and surprised Nikon customers. I brought my S6 to Pakistan for my birthday and visits to several cities, including one-time opportunities to take pictures inside the Prime Minister and President House buildings.
On importing the pics into iPhoto I found FIFTY files failing to import with the "unrecognized file type" etc. error even though EACH picture is visible fine in the camera.
Macs and Mac OS X are NOT at fault here, IMHO, because when I connected my card reader to Windows XP, none of these 50 files open there either. The camera shows them just fine.
Very strange and dangerous Nikon bug it seems.
Hope someone can point us to a utility to "repair" such JPEG/JPG files.

  • Ipod photo not synching with Nikon Coolpix 880

    Hi all,
Despite all the posts on the subject, synch with camera connector still does not work.
Context: IPOD photo 30G with Photo Import option on and driver 1,2; Nikon coolpix 880 listed as supported on IPhoto site.
Symptoms: Get message "No card inserted"
Status: about to throw the whole thing through the window !
    Heeeeeelp ... pleeeease.
    Barchi

Try this: set your iPod in the hard disk mode (you can do this by connecting the iPod to your computer and then set it in this mode.
If it doesn't work... Let me know.
Are you sure, that the Nikon coolpix 880 is supported?

  • Nikon Coolpix 4600 blur warning

I have a nikon coolpix camera that always has the blur warning showing.  I cannot find anything online that gives any troubleshooting help for this warning and I cannot get it to turn off.  The warning flashes even if I have the camera sitting on a stationary object, such as a table.  Any ideas on how to get rid of the message?

Blur warning is usually based on current shutter speed and focal length.  It is just a warning, ignore it if you're tripod mounted or have it sitting on a solid object.
If you want it to go away, add more light to your scene, crank up the ISO sensitivity (pictures will become noisy though), or go outside in sunlight.

  • Service Battery error message for a battery that looks ok

    Hello,
I have a 13 inch Macbook Pro with model number 5,5 and after upgrading my hard drive to a WD scorpio black 750GB and also adding 8 GB of Kingston memory I get a Service Battery error message. My OS is 10.6.8. The strange is that my battery is in a fairly good condition. I did check with coconut battery and it looks ok. I also add a print screen.
Does anyone knows how can I remove this error message ?
Do I have to replace my battery ?

Service battery means replace battery as soon as possible.
Reset SMC and see whether it changes the notification.
    Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".

  • As of a few days ago, I can no longer import photos from my Nikon Coolpix s7c into iPhoto. Never before had a problem. (it is the version prior to iPhoto 11--all Apple software is UTD)

As of a few days ago, I can no longer import photos from my Nikon Coolpix s7c into iPhoto '08. Never before had a problem.  I sent a request to Nikon for help and they referred me back to Apple.  Help, if possible, please.

As the photos imported to the test library you know that it works with your version of iPhoto (so, you can skip the paranoia about Apple making you upgrade). The issue then is the Library, so
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
