Nikon Coolpix S570

Got some help from the Geniuses at the store today. It appears that the software on Nikon Coolpix S570 cameras is not compatible with iphoto. When uploading, there is an error message saying that the files are unreadable. However, when using a universal media reader, there is no problem uploading them. The upload from the camera onto a PC works fine, but it doesn't appear to be compatible with the Mac.

If you're certain that your camera was shipped without any Mac software at all, I'm astonished. A Mac version of PictureProject is listed among the things included in the package on Nikon's web site for the 5900. The current version can also be downloaded here.
Apart from installing PictureProject, which may or may not function as a driver, all I can suggest is that you buy a USB card reader and transfer your pictures through that — if you can. If the card can't be mounted or read that way (with the camera entirely out of the picture), the card itself is corrupt, and you may want to try using PhotoRescue or MediaRecover to salvage the pictures off it. Then reformat the card in your camera — not through the Mac. It's safest never to format or erase a card or, in fact, to edit its contents in any way while it's connected to a Mac. Tinkering with their contents on a Mac is probably the most common way cards are corrupted.
After reformatting the card, test again to see whether connecting the camera to the Mac works as it used to.

  • As of a few days ago, I can no longer import photos from my Nikon Coolpix s7c into iPhoto. Never before had a problem. (it is the version prior to iPhoto 11--all Apple software is UTD)

As of a few days ago, I can no longer import photos from my Nikon Coolpix s7c into iPhoto '08. Never before had a problem.  I sent a request to Nikon for help and they referred me back to Apple.  Help, if possible, please.

As the photos imported to the test library you know that it works with your version of iPhoto (so, you can skip the paranoia about Apple making you upgrade). The issue then is the Library, so
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • HT4101 I have a NIKON COOLPIX P500 but am unable to download photos through the IPad camera connection kit. I have tried to use the Sandisk card also - no result. Any suggestions? The Ipad does not "see" the card or camera?

I have a Nikon Coolpix P500 but am unable to download photos from it to my iPad2 via the iPad Camera Connection kit. The iPad does not see either the Sandisk 8GB card or the Nikon camera. I have turned the camera on, but it seems that the camera just want to recharge its battery through the iPad as the iPad states that the devices draws too much power?? Anybodu solved this problem yet? Advise please?

One thing to check is the format that the camera is saving pics to the card in. Many are selectable and, in most cases, if PTP is one of the options then you need to have that one selected for the files to be visible to iOS and the CCK (connection kit).
Another thing which sometimes comes up, especially with older cameras and therefore probably not with yours, is the filenaming conventions used by the camera. iOS is quite strict about what it expects to see and if files are being stored with unsupported name formats then they simply won't be seen at all.

  • Nikon Coolpix 990 not supported in iPhoto 11 v9.4.2 on OS x 10.8.2

I am running Mountain Lion and Snow Leopard in separate partitions on the same iMac(Intel i3).  I can import photos from my Nikon Coolpix 990 camera using iPhoto 11 v 9.2.3 running on Snow Leopard.  I cannot import photos when running iPhoto 11 v 0.4.2 on Mountain Lion.  The camera shows up in the USB section of the system report.  Is anyone aware of this problem and how to fix it?

I removed my photos and formatted the camera's flash card but it didn't help.  I spent an hour on the phone with Apple and they couldn't resolve the issue either.  The support person is forwarding the problem to Apple engineering.
    Thank you for your suggestions.

  • IPhoto can't find my Nikon Coolpix S5 camera

iPhoto can't find my Nikon Coolpix S5 camera. It will not mount on my desktop. What do I do? I have used this camera for a few years and now it will not work any more. Is it the new OSX 10.5.3?
    Thank you.

    Ok
Does the same thing happen when connected to any of your three computers?
Is this being plugged into a usb hub or straight into the computer?
    could It be the cable?
You can buy an SD card reader that is usb for less than $10 at your local Fry's
if none of the above works.
If it connects and says the pics aren't the right format, plug your camera into a peecee
    and see if that works.

  • I can't use The camera connection kit with nikon coolpix s3300

The camera connection kit (USB) doesn't work with Nikon coolpix s3300

The Hero 2 will also nest folders in the DCIM folder and the camera connection kit will read the files in them.  Another option to viewing your videos in HD would be to use an app that can play H.264 video, where you will drag and drop the videos in to the iTunes File Sharing under the Apps tab.
If you've never used the File Sharing, simply keep you iPad docked to your computer, select your device, tap on the Apps tab, scroll down past the screen shot of your iPad's home page to File Sharing.  In there scroll to the app you're going to share with and tap on it to select it.  Then from your computer or straight from your GoPro, select the video(s) and drag them over to iTunes and drop them into the area under Document and you should see the files transfer to the app. When the transfer is done you should be able to see them play in a video app that can play H.264 video, I know the Flex:Player app is one of them.  VLC will play 1080p, but not very well.

When I connect my Nikon coolpix S9200 to the camera adaptor I get a message saying this device uses too much power, how can I overcome this?

You are probably seeing this message because the camera uses the same port to charge it. The iPad can not supply the power to charge devices from it's dock connector. Also if you use the SD card adapter you are not using up the camera's battery for transferring the photos.

  • RAW files from Nikon Coolpix 5400 - are they unsupported by Aperture?

I have recently updated the firmware on my Nikon Coolpix 5400 to version 1.4 in order to get RAW capability. Unfortunately the NEF/RAW files I create are not compatible with Aperture and I get an "Unsupported Image Format" message that may be similar to the one that other users have highlighted in relation to the OSX 10.4.9 update.
I am able to use all images previously imported and also Fine (JPG) images generated by the 5400 as well as RAW images generated by a D70 and a D200.

photo download with Nikon Transfer works without wny problems, but i don't like it as PS Album s.e..
    thank for your answer!

Similar to iTunes, the tags and collections are stored in the catalog file, which is not removed in a reinstallation, and would be read after reinstallation.

The best thing to do is download the trial of Lightroom and see if it works for you. The trial is the complete program. The only thing different about the trial is that it expires after thirty days. Your images stay in the folders you already have so there's little risk. Good luck!

What is the "iPhoto transfer APP?". You use iTunes to sync your iPad and use PhotoStream to move photos
