Nikon D200 Image Setting and D300 Picture Control

Does LR recognize and use the in camera shooting settings? How do I setup LR to do this if it does? If not why not?
At a minimum can a develop preset be created to match them? How would you create it? Has anyone created some or all?
For now I am using LR2 with the Default Import setting. But have noticed that LR1.x and LR2.0 do not recognize Nikons Monochrome setting in either the D200 or the D300. Each camera has a different Image Control/Shooting system. Has anyone made presets to match these bodies different shooting modes.

  • Loosing D300 Picture Control settings when importing RAW files into CS3!!

Hi there...I would really appreciate some help!!
I have recently bought a D300/Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 which I love, however, I'm getting increasingly frustrated by either my lack of knowledge or some form of compatibility issue between the D300 and CS3!!
When importing I am loosing all the RAW Picture Control settings!! - e.g. If I shoot using Picture Control "Monochrome" CS3 rips out all of the settings and returns the RAW image back to the default camera settings!! It doesn't seem to be the D300 as Picture Control settings are retained when viewing the RAW images on the camera's screen.
    Camera: D300/firmware - default install
Computer: MacBook Pro Intel 2.4Ghz/2Gb RAM | Operating System: OS X 10.5.4 (9E17) | Software: Abobe CS3 with CameraRAW 4.4.1 plugin (also tried beta 4.5 but to no avail!!)
    Thanks in advance!!

I am trying to open a NEF file (RAW format) from my card with PhotoShop CS3 and it does not work. These photos were taken with a Nikon D300. A window appears and the message read as follows:
"Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document"
    Could someone help me?
I have searched the online material and I have not found a solution as of yet.
I have no issues opening JPEGs taken with a D300 and I can open NEF files that were taken with a Nikon D200...
    I appreciate your help.

  • Draw image at point in picture control

Is there a VI for drawing an image at a certain point in a picture control?  Something like the "Draw Text at Point" or "Draw Rectangle" VIs but with an image.

An example using Unflatten pixmap... redraw the same image after a 50 pixel shift in x and y :

I have downloaded pics to the pictures folder in finder. I would now like to organize them into differant groups or folders.   I am new to Mac and really am confused by iPhoto.   Can I accomplish what I want within finder pictures folder?

Yes, you can do it in Finder.
    I dislike iPhoto myself...
GraphicConverter has a powerful Browse Folder function, & many tools for manipulation, & you can keep your Pics wherever you want...

    hi Donovan@LSI,
you can add a .jpg as texture to an 3d object:

moreover, this examples shows how to create an hight-field from a .jpg or .png based on the image's intensities

  • Photoshop CS2 and Nikon D200

Does anyone know when Adobe will make Photoshop CS2 compatible with the new Nikon D200? Attempting to get an answer or assistance from Adobe customer service is impossible. Photoshop CS2 CANNOT (will NOT) open Nikon D200 images. I merely get "Could not complete your request because of a program error" message when attempting to open D200 images within Photoshop CS2.

There is a lot of information on this in the Camera Raw forum on this Adobe users site.
The upshot is that they will have it "soon" and the manufacturers do not publish a date.

You may also drag and drop a picture directly to your front panel. You can also use paint, or some other tools,  to copy a part of a picture and past it into your front panel. This actually works for the block diagram also. Se example

  • Workflow photoshop cs3 on mac with nikon d200/300 camera

I already asked this question at the mac forum in here ...it dealed with the problem that i have noisy pictures anyway after having changed to ps cs3 under mac.Istill make the pictures with my nikon d200/300 camera and i have not chosen any higher iso number. I usually take the pictures in raw format transform them into tiff format after having finished my work and sometimes i produce jpegs out of the tiff file later on.In fact ,all the pictures have this noise effects . Has this got something to do with the colour depht menue in camera or cs3 maybe?

Probably has to do with your default sharpening & noise reduction settings.
If you're comparing to in-camera JPEGs then the JPEGs usually look smoother initially because the higher ISO images will have a fair amount of noise reduction applied.

  • Nikon D200 connectivity to Ipod 5th Gen.

As some other people reported here, I had also to remove new update from my 60Gb video Ipod.
Now I'm looking to connect a Nikon D200 to Ipod and on the Apple store webpage they stated that Ipod Camera Connector works with version 1.1 (I had to remove it because video freezes). So my question is did anybody managed to download pictures with old firmware version (I think one from October 2005) using Nikon cameras (D70,D100,D2)?
Thanks in advance for your response,
    Cheers

You can successfully restore a 5G iPod from an iCloud backup made on a 4G iPod. When you do it the version of apps will be installed on the iPod.
However, you can't go the other way, restore a a 4G iPod made with an 5G iPod with iOS 7. since the iOS version of the backed up iPod has to be less than or equal to the iOS version of the one being restored.

  • 3d picture control troubleshoot

    Hellow world!
    I have a minute problem.
On my destop I have labview 2010 32 bit running on windows XP! I can access the examples like bounce ball and 3d bar graph etc and they all work fine"!!!
On my laptop, a 64 bit operating system on windows 7 has installed a 32 bit labview application. Note both are student editions.
Problem is, on my laptop! During easter these examples worked flawlessly and the 3D pictre on the front panel showed the ball bouncing on the bounce ball example found on the labview examples.
However since yesterday -  I reran these examples and the picture control box is grey -  it is blank!!!]
    Why????
I need to know as soon as possible as I am using 3D picture for a project and it is not working on my laptop If bounce ball example works on laptoip, i know my program which I amde that uses 3D picture control willl also work.
    Please somebody help me!
    Saqib

    Hi Saqib,
Thank you for your post, I understand that the 3D picture control examples provided in LabVIEW 2010 32bit are now blank although they worked correctly previously.
Have you tried a few of the 3D picture control examples?
Have you updated your Video Card drivers since Easter?
There could be a compatibility issue between your PC's video configuration and the LabVIEW 3D Picture Control. The 3D Picture Control uses OpenGL (Open Graphics Library) in the background to display 3D models. It seems that your video card supports OpenGL otherwise the 3D Picture Control would not have worked previously, could you try the following:
     Upgrading the Video Card driver.
Ensuring "Hardware Acceleration" is enabled and reviewing all the settings for your video card.
If these steps do not resolve the issue could you please provide information on the model of your laptop and the video card chipset that is installed in the laptop (can be found in device manager).
Please keep me informed with your progress.
    Many Thanks

  • Set 2d picture control image

I'm making some palette installers for ease of distribution for some libraries I have written. I'm following the example VIs (search the example finder for "palette API").
I'm having some frustration in setting the new palette icon; the icon constant is a 2d picture control but I can't find a way to drop my image into it, and I can't set it programatically as the 2d picture control VIs only allow me to draw shapes into it.
    - Cheers, Ed
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

In cases like this I often resort to using a transparent classic path as an overlay to catch dropped files.  If you do not plan on interacting with the picture control, it is quite easy.  Otherwise it is just a few more events to control visibility when the mouse enters the VI with the button pressed.
Just run the VI and drag PNG, JPG, or BMP files to the picture control.

  • Taking pictures using image capture and Nikon d50

Hi, does any one know if it is possible to take pictures using image capture whilst my nikon d50 is connected to my MacBook so that the image is shown on the MacBook screen.

Yes! Indeed, I have that very same D50 (lovely isn't it?) and I just happenned to have taken already some pictures with it, from the computer.
Once it's pluggeg, go in Applications> Image Capture.
From there, you will either be able to download all the picture from the D50, or take new shots.
You can even share the camera (and it's pictures) online, so someone can even take picture with it (through a webpage). You could even try this yourself, play around in Image Capture and with it's share features, and somewhere it will give you the adress (internal ip adress) so suposely someone from your network (including your own computer) could go, check, and take pictures.
I've tried the web interface from my computer, but couldn't make it work with another one from my LAN. Have to work around this.
But in Image Capture, first make sure the D50 is selected (Devices>[pick it]) and then there is what you are looking for in the upper bar of the window.
    Have fun!

  • How will Aperture treat Nikon raw images which have been enhanced using Capture NX2 software?  Some are cropped and "developed" and some have been enhanced using the control point technology.  I have NIK sw as a plug-in in aperture.

How will Aperture treat Nikon raw images which have been enhanced using Capture NX2 software?  Some are cropped and "developed" and some have been enhanced using the control point technology.  I have NIK sw as a plug-in in aperture.

Actually, there is a Nik/Nikon connection — but I am pretty sure it is irrelevant to the OP's question. The connection is that Capture NX2 was written as a joint venture between Nikon and Nik. (The name similarity is a coincidence.)
Capture NX2 is a cool program that incorporates the features of Nik's Viveza and Nikon's Raw processing engine, along with some other powerful image adjustment features. It provides, like Aperture, a losses workflow. Unlike Aperture, the adjustments (Edit Steps in C-NX terminology) are saved in the original NEF file along with the un-altered raw data. Multiple versions can be saved in a single NEF.

  • Nikon D200 Settings and Lightroom

I have a Nikon D200 and right now I have my camera settings as 2+ for sharpening and 1+ for tone compensation. Is it better to leave sharpening as 'None' and tone compensation as 'Less Contrast or Normal' and do those adjustments in Lightroom? The nice thing about having these settings currently is that I have less processing of my RAW images in Lightroom (since the sharpening and tone compensation are already pretty much set).
Any suggestions or ideas? Thank You.

    >... since the sharpening and tone compensation are already pretty much set.
If you like the results you're getting from your in-camera settings and don't want to process your own images -- stick to JPEG. Only Nikon Capture and Picture Project can read the D200 camera settings the way you like them. To keep it that way, Nikon hides or encrypts your settings from other applications.
Other raw processors --like ACR or LR -- rely on you to customize the "developer" to process your raw files the way you like them. As a courtesy, LR baselines your raw images to a set of standards the development team felt gave you the best place to start. You need to do the rest.
Hope this level of detail helps you. Good luck ...

  • Will Aperture ever support Nikon or Canon Picture Control settings?

As with many people, I've also run into two issues:
    1) The RAW Picture Control settings used by Nikon don't seem to be supported by Aperture. I've downloaded the latest Camera Raw update (2.4) and yet it still seems that none of the settings get interpreted by Aperture. As a long-standing Aperture user, this is a major issue since it now requires me to import into either ViewNX or Capture NX2 and then transfer them to Aperture. Since I use Photoshop for dodging and burning, I'm beginning to wonder if I should just move to Lightroom.
    2) The highlights seem to get blown out fairly easily when viewed in Aperture. I often seem to have to pull back the highlights on many pictures.
I was wondering if these are still persistent issues that others see as I'd like to consider what reasonable options I have.

Jade, you gave up to easily!!!
I would guess that Nikon makes most of their money from cameras, lenses, nik software and very little from NX software. While NX is fine for small projects, it is way to slow and plodding to be a meaningful workflow product.
But, if Nikon teamed up with Apple so that Aperture could incorporate most of what is in NX under a licensing/royalty agreement, Nikon would sell lots more of their core products, Apple/Nikon software would be come the default workflow processing solution and would set industry standards for digital imaging for the pro. Canon would be forced to follow suit or fall very far behind. Nikon has done a wonderful job in bringing their bodies to leading the pack, they need more work on lens, IMHO, and a meaningful relationship or co development with Apple would seal the third arm of the puzzle.
Consumers, Apple, and Nikon all benefit from such a model. Just have to get to terms that are acceptable and, as typical in these situations, there are too many big egos involved and unwilling to see the forest through the trees.
    Food for thought.....maybe....
