Nikon d7100 compatability

Hello,
I have iphoto 9 on my system and it is unable to handle RAW files gebnerated by nikon d7100. Is there any pach to be downloaded?
thanks
-kamal

And just to let you know, the kernel (OS) underlying mac os/x does not have anything to do with RAW file format. That is entirely  user space code.
What I said was that Raw support is at OS level. That means that Raw updates are made and included in OS updates and provide the same access to the Raws in multiple apps. Now obviously you now more than anyone about it, so why not tell Apple what they're doing wrong
iPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback
there's no point telling us. No one is suggesting that you upgrade anything, just that the upgrades are required if you want the Raw support. Upgrading to OS 10.7 will cost you about $20.  And that's not even installing the latest OS.
Adobe certainly did have a Photoshop for OS 9. I believe every version up to Photoshop 6 (note that's Photoshop 6, not CS6) ran on OS 9. None of them are updated.

  • How do i open nikon D7100 nef files in pse10

I cant open my NEF/RAW files for the Nikon D7100 on Photoshop Elements 10 is there a way to do this

Your version of Photoshop Elements will not open D7100 images directly. Support wasn't added until Photoshop Elements 11 in Camera Raw 7.4.
Adobe stopped updating older versions to be able to read raw files from newer cameras whenever they released a new major version of Photoshop Elements. Thus, the version you have is no longer receiving raw file compatibility updates and will never directly be able to open your raw files.
    You can check this yourself:
First you need to determine when Adobe released support for your new camera in Photoshop Elements.  To do that, look at these two pages. You'll want to find out the earliest version of Camera Raw that can support your camera, then what version of Photoshop Elements can run that version of Camera Raw.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
Since your version of Photoshop Elements cannot support your camera directly, you can download and install the latest version of the free Adobe DNG Converter, which can take your raw files as input and put out DNG format files, which your version of Photoshop can open.
Photoshop Help | Digital Negative (DNG)
The DNG converter DOES work, and you will be able to open the converted DNG files with your version of Photoshop Elements, but if you want maximal quality from your raw files (not to mention the convenience and ease of use of directly opening your raw files) you'll want the latest version of Photoshop Elements.  Adobe has made substantial improvements in raw conversion quality in recent years.

  • I always imported my SD cards into iPhoto.  Now it doesn't work with the cards from my new Nikon D7100 camera. What to do?

I have an iMac OS x 10.6.8 and always used iPhoto with good success, importing images including RAW format from my Nikon D40 into iPhoto.  Since I bought a new Nikon D7100 camera I cannot upload the RAW images from its SC cards.  Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

Apple occasionally releases software updates to include RAW formats for newer cameras, but apparently, OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard (assuming the OS shown in your profile is indeed the one you're using) does not support the Nikon D7100 RAW format:
Mac OS X v10.6: Supported digital camera RAW formats
Upgrading to at least OS X 10.7 Lion would apparently fix that problem.
    Digital Camera RAW Compatibility 4.06
Same for OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion
OS X Mountain Lion: Supported digital camera RAW formats
If your iMac can run it OS X Mavericks: System Requirements, OS X Mavericks 10.9 is a free download upgrade, and it also supports the Nikon D7100 RAW format: OS X Mavericks: Supported digital camera RAW formats

  • Raw up date for new nikon d7100 in cs5.1

raw up date for nikon d7100 for cs5.1 can any one please help me on this matter

The D7100 is supported only in PS-CS6/ACR 7.4 and newer.  There will be no update for CS5.1.
You can upgrade your CS to CS6 or CC or download the free DNG Converter to make DNGs from your NEFs and open those in older versions of Camera Raw.  You’ll want to make sure to set the DNGC compatibility options to something lower than the default of ACR 7.1.  The DNG Converter is available, here:

  • Nikon D7100 - RAW (very large files). Lightroom 4 will not allow them to be imported -Help!

I need to edit and make my files smaller etc but they are at present between 20 and 30 mgbites and I cannot import them into Lightroom. Can anyone help me with this problem? I am in Lightroom 4.

Thanks I think I have Lightroom 4 .4  but I will check again on the packet..this belw from someone else about this problem seems to advice Capture NX and a plugin from Nikon??
A quote from another forum I have been reading:-
Have you downloaded the Codec from Nikon. I use both Windows Vista and Windows 7. I downloaded the Codec of the Nikon D7100 yesterday and installed it and I don't have the latest Capture NX, I have the original I brought shortly after buying my D200. I can now use the D7100 files directly into my Capture NX software. ViewNX gives you the basics of Raw editing but Capture NX gives you the advantage of using the U point system. I found this out purely by accident. If you can download the Codec free of charge and pick up a cheap old Capture NX  you can get all your EXIF data as well as lense data without any issues.. The Camera companies pay Adobe a license fee for using the Adobe Gamma in their cameras so why should they pay more for file format. Adobe is very protective over its intellectual property so why not with Canon or Nikon. They comply with the consumer trade agreements on EXIF and image authentication. Nikon have cameras in Space which is more than Adobe ever dreamt of. So file format has little or nothing to do with compatibility.

  • Aperture refuse to open the RAW files from my new Nikon D7100.

Aperture refuse to open the RAW files from my new Nikon D7100. What can I do? Thanks for help!

the raw support of new cameras will be made with a Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update not with a aperture update. But when the new RAW- Update will arrive is not sure.
And that usually can only be installed with newer Aperture versions. You cannot use the latest raw support with Aperture 3.2.4, unless you are able to update to Aperture 3.4. And earlier raw support versions cannot be used with Aperture 2.
See the footnotes on the Raw Support page  http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html. That is why asked for the Aperture version.
** Requires Aperture 3 or later.
*** Requires Aperture 3.4 or later.

I just bought a Nikon D7100 and there can not import my photos iphoto09 ds. Let me explain: I go travel 900 pictures I wanted to transfer dc ds iphoto: everything went well, iphoto made me 3 events but when I tried to merge only a dozen photos ds appeared the final folder!! (RAW, like all others)
Surprised I'm saying there had perhaps been a dc bug I wanted to start and since IMPOSSIBLE, I constantly message "unreadable files, the file could not be imported, the format n is not recognized "and it tells me the path" user / pictures / picture library / imports / originals / roll 1/DSC_0130.NEF "
I do not understand why the first reading of the card it worked then nothing after? If even the outset it did not work, ok, I could believe in a pb update the OS or iPhoto (which I then checked ms still no result)
So here is my problem, if someone has an idea I thank in advance

  • Nikon D7100 et iphoto9 : format Raw refusé, pourquoi ?

    Bonjour

  • Can't open Raw files in Photoshop CS6 using Nikon D7100?

I have a Nikon D7100 and recently did a photoshoot where I shot in Raw. Upon uploading my images and then attempting to open them in Photoshop it came up with a pop up saying that photoshop is unable to open that camera raw file. I have downloaded the adobe recommended converters but those don't seem to work either. Help?

The Nikon D7100 didn't get support until Camera Raw version 7.4; CS6 shipped with 7.0 (and is compatible up until 8.3). Did you go through Help > Updates?
Also, versions of Camera Raw above version 8.3 won't work on anything below Windows 7 or Mac 10.7. You'll have to "upgrade" to at most 8.3 to continue using it on the other operating systems.

  • How can I open raw files from my Nikon D7100 in CS4 or CS5?

How can I open raw files from my Nikon D7100 in CS4 or CS5?

    Andy,
In the simple and short form, what happens with the ACR (Adobe Camera RAW) module is that it gets updated with regularity, to accommodate the camera mfgr's. changes for their newer models. That ACR works within the host program, such as Ps, PsElements, Lightroom, etc.. At a point, Adobe ceases to support older host program versions. When that happens, the user has a few options:
    Upgrade the host program version
Use another host program, such as PsElements or Lightroom
Use the free DNG converter, per Curt's suggestion. That is not host program dependent
Glad that the DNG Converter works for you.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

    Hey freelance698,
I was able to find two articles that might assist you in troubleshooting the issue:

  • I have recently purchased a Nikon D7100 and can no longer use Photoshop CS5 to process RAW files. What are my solutions ?

I am sure this has been asked before for similar new camera buyers, but as I have made a sizeable investment in purchasing PS 5  less than one year ago, I expect ADOBE to have an upgrade available for my new Nikon D7100 camera.
Other Software makers usually have upgrades available to download for new cameras not long after they are released.
I have seen on some photography forums where other users of my camera model have asked the same question as myself without receiving  any positive advice other than to up grade to PS 6. A few suggestions do not work or are possibly illegal.
Under consumer laws, in many countries, software makers are obliged to maintain support for a reasonable period of time after release.
Come on Adobe, please help the many thousands of PS 5 and Lightroom users to use the Adobe software that they have purchased in good faith and we will move to PS 6 or 7 or 8 when we are ready.
Can we please expect an answer to this problem any time soon ?

Why did you purchase an obsolete version? One year ago Photoshop CS6 had already been out a while.
    According to this list
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
support for that camera was added with Camera Raw 7.4, which means CS6 at least.

This is a user to user Forum, so you are not really addressing Adobe here, even though some Adobe employees thankfully have been dropping by.
Adobe is not in the habit of adding support for new cameras to obsolete versions of Camera Raw.
But it offers the free DNG Converter.
Edit: Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows
And camera makers are free to adopt DNG if they want to make their cameras’ output easily editable with non-proprietary software, but it seems many of them simply don’t want that.

  • I have been using Aperture 3.3.2 with Mac OS-X 10.7.5.  This version doesn't support RAW with Nikon D7100, I decided to upgrade to 3.4. On downloading, it tells me that to upgrade, I need Aperture Vers.3!  which I have.  What to do??

Have you moved or renamed your Aperture 3 version? If it is not installed in the "Applications" folder or not named simply "Aperture", then Software Update will not recognize it.
Put Aperture back and "Software Update" should find your version.
