Nikon D80 Raw Images

I ordered the full version of Aperture, still running the trail version. Downloaded the update for the raw data, however I got a dialogue box that said the update wasnt necessary for this version of Aperture. I wonder if its because its the trail version of Aperture? Not able to download the raw images or import them from image capture.Reluctant to take ownership of the program if it wont do the raw images from the D80!

RAW images from the D80 are supported... but the update is necessary. Did you ensure you got the relevant PPC or Intel version of the update? There are different files for the different OS versions -- be sure you have the right one. Another thing that's confusing is that the Intel update is marked "Universal" but it won't install on a PPC machine I don't think.
Also -- note the trial version, if you got it more than a couple weeks ago -- is based on Aperture 1.5. That is to say, it is not Aperture 1.5.1 or the latest 1.5.2. It's quite likely that Aperture 1.5 doesn't support the RAW updates that come with the OS camera RAW update. Joe Schorr said in his O'Reilly podcast that there's a newer "trial" version of Aperture that is based on Aperture 1.5.2. Try it, and ensure you have the right version of the OS update, and you should be sorted.

  • Has anyone had trouble manipulating Nikon D750 raw image (NEF) in Aperture version 3.6 on Yosemite?

Has anyone had trouble manipulating Nikon D750 raw image (NEF) in Aperture (version 3.6 500021000000000.3, Digital Camera RAW 6.0 - Build 761.5, Digital Camera RAW support 6000 - Build 136.1)
I used to be able to manipuplate Nikon Raw (NEF) images from a Nikon D70 and D3200 using Aperture, until the 70 died and the 3200 was stolen about 18 months ago. Recently I did two things: (1) I upgraded OS X to Yosemite and (2) purchased a Nikon D750.  I have successfully imported NEF files from the camera to Aperture, but the images do not render/ cannot be opened/ manipulated. Instead, I see a black thumbnail for each imported image with a cassette recorder play icon in the center of each image.
I can view the NEF image in Finder preview mode, either directly when viewing the images on the camera SD card or after exporting the previously imported NEF image from Aperture to my desktop or user folder.  Previously imported NEF image seem unaffected.
    thanks.
    D.

The current Apple OSX 10.10 Yosemite and the current Aperture version 3.6 do not have support yet for importing Nikon d750 nef/raw files. It usually takes Apple six to eight weeks to release a new digital camera raw update file for new Nikon dslr models. Once that digital camera raw update file is finally released, update your current version of Aperture and that will allow you to import your d750 raw files. In the meantime, you have many workarounds. In my opinion, the easiest is to save images in duplicate nef/raw and jpeg image files to your SD cards.
And for now, just import the jpegs to Aperture 3.6 from your d750.  Process your jpegs in Aperture - and hope your clients are happy with the jpegs and can wait for later nef/raw image processing. Be sure to save and do not erase your original SD cards that include the nef/raw and jpeg files - then when Aperture finally releases a new digital camera raw file update that includes the d750 - just insert your original camera SD cards into the computer platform and import the old d750 nef/raw files and edit/process them.
There are many other ways to proceed in the interim as well. You can always import your d750 nef/raw images into Lightroom (if it has been updated to convert the d750 nef files) and process them there. But for the time being, if you can afford to save and hold onto your original SD cards and wait for the inevitable Aperture digital camera raw update, this is a very easy and simple way to proceed.

  • I cannot open Nikon D800 RAW image files in lightoom 2

I cannot open Nikon D800 RAW image files in lightoom 2.  My raw files will not import into lightroom (it imports jpegs, but not the RAW files) I am using Lightroom 2, version 2.7, camera Raw 5.7. Can you help?

I would highly recommend upgrading to Lightroom 4 as the processing engine is a quantum leap ahead from Lr 2 just as your camera is a leap ahead!!
p.s.  you can upgrade directly fro 2 to 4.

  • NIKON D7100 RAW Images

Is there a support of NIKON D7100 raw images available? I bought Elements and like the software, but it does not read the files of D7100. The files of my older D90 it reads. So I have great pics with my D7100, but no chance to edit it in a way which is acceptable

@99jon, thx for your answer, I was afraid to hear this . Your suggested solution I was aware of. Unfortunately there are some destructive things going on with this solution (Camera settings, ...). And patience is one of my attributes I miss
Thx again for your effort to answer my question.....

  • Is Lightroom able to accept and edit Nikon D4s RAW images?

A professional photographer from a nearby town said he heard Lightroom either did not or had difficulty working with Nikon D4s RAW images. I want to find out if this true or not.

Might have been true around the time the camera was launched but it usually only takes Adobe a few weeks to issue updates for new camera models.
As Bob says, the D4S has definitely been supported for a while now.

  • Nikon d80 raw and elements 6

    Hi all
When looking through the specs for the RAW 4-4-1 update, it lists the Nikon D60 as supported but no mention of the D80.
My main goal at the moment is to edit RAW (NEF) pictures and I want to find out what I need for that.
There are various questions spread over the forums from people who can not get elements 6 to work with RAW images.
Bottom line: does elements 6 fully support Nikon D80 image editing or not?
    Thanks for your help.
    Ben

All ACR releases contain support for ALL cameras supported in ALL previous versions.
    YES, the D80 is supported.

  • Nikon D80 Raw

Has anyone had any luck importing raw images from a d80 nikon?
I have read all the manuals, and they say it works, but it doesnt work on my software
    thanks

There are two versions of the download, for PPC- and for Intel-based Macs. Sounds like you got the wrong one, which is very easy to do as neither page mentions the other version...

  • Can't compare Nikon D750 Raw images in version 9.6.1 of iPhoto.

This is in response to Terence Devlin’s last reply for which their was no provision for a direct reply.
I just made an interesting discovery. Here’s the story. I have iPhoto Library Manager and have created many libraries using that program. On a hunch I tried comparing photos in several of the libraries. Selecting two or more photos and then clicking Edit did not work in any case. However, with the single exception noted below, the method I have been using for several years did work. This method is to select two or more photos, then right click on one of the photos and click on Edit in iPhoto in the menu that appears.
So far I am experiencing a problem in comparing only the Raw images I have downloaded from the new Nikon D750 camera that I acquired just last Friday. Per my recent inquiry you advised upgrading from Mavericks to Yosemite and from iPhoto v9.5.1 to v9.6.1 in order to be able to download Raw images from my new D750 to iPhoto. Those upgrades went well. However, it appears that there is a bug in version 9.6.1 of iPhoto in regard to its ability to compare Raw images from the Nikon D750. How do I notify Apple of this problem so that they can fix it? In the meantime do you know of a workaround?

How do I notify Apple of this problem so that they can fix it?
Since iPhoto has been dropped by Apple in leu of Photos  there's little hope that they will do any fixing on 9.6.1. However, you can report the bug to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html and hope they'll look into it.

  • How to view the Nikon D4 RAW images in Bridge CS3

I am in the process of buying the lattest Nikon camera the D4. However, I am still using CS3. I am wondering if I am still going to be able to view and process the RAW images in Bridge? Will I need a plug in? If so, where can I download?

I am wondering if I am still going to be able to view and process the RAW images in Bridge?
    No, according to this overview:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
the earliest support for Nikon D4 is ACR 6.7, the latest and last update of the Camera raw plug in that came with PSCS5
Will I need a plug in? If so, where can I download?
You can use the DNG route, meaning downloading the free DNG converter from Adobe and those DNG files will be viewable in CS3 and you can work with them.
    Windows: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Windows
    Mac: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?platform=Macintosh&product=106
While it is none of my business I just wonder why you buy a 5K $ state of the art top dSLR from 2012 and still use an 'old' piece of software released in 2007 to try and get the most out of it.
And sadly enough CS3 Bridge is known to be the worst version ever, you sure will benefit from at least CS5 but CS6 offers the new 2012 Process in ACR.

  • How can I get my Nikon D3x raw images to download into the organizer of Elements 6.0

I recently purchased a Nikon D3x and have been unable to view my raw images in Elements 6.0. I have downloaded the Raw 5.4 update. When that did not work, i uninstalled Elements and the 5.4 update and reinstalled them again. I am able to download the raw photos into the  Elements Downloader, but once the photos go to the organizer, i get  the screen saying that "the file is damaged or is a format that cannot be included". According to the Adobe Tech Support Dept., Elements 6.0 is able to support the Nikon D3x, with the Raw 5.4 update. Has anyone else run into this problem and have a solution?
I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thank you for your response dj_paige.
I was able to see that the 4.2 that came with the Elements 6.0 is still on my computer (by going to the (Orange tab ) Edit/Help/About plug in). I could not find the 4.2 listed separately anywhere on the computer so that I could delete it. Is there a way to do this?  I am  a true novice, so when you say to make sure the old plug in is removed from the File Formats folder are you talking about in Tools?
I am talking about the File Formats folder that gets created when you install PSE. You have obviously been to that folder already because you said you installed Adobe Camera Raw 5.4. Go to that folder in Windows, and make sure that the old plug-in (which was named CameraRaw.8bi, but may have been renamed by you) is deleted from that folder (not renamed, not moved to a subfolder). Then, following the instructions are on the page where you downloaded Camera Raw 5.4, install the new plug-in.

  • Reading nikon d600 raw images in elements 11?

I use a Nikon D600 and Elements 11. I can read RAW files on one computer but when I installed Elements 11 on a new computer (Win 7 prof. 64 bit) I cannot open the NEF files. The message in Photoshop is that the file is from a camera model that is not supported by the installed version of camera RAW. Well, it is compatible with version 7.1.0 that is installed on the old computer but not the new one. I have tried to download a newer version of camera raw 7.3 but this is not reflected in the photoshop plugin information. what am I doing wrong? How can I open RAW images?

You need to install Camera Raw 8.3 RC. The camera is supported in that version. And, of course, it will be supported in ACR 8.3 when it is officially released.

  • Nikon D300 Raw Images and Lightroom 1.4.1

My updated 1.4.1 Lightroom and 4.4.1 Camera Raw are not reading the raw images from my new Nikon D300. I have read several strings of conversation from other folks who are having this problem, and from what I am reading, my 1.4.1 Lightroom should be recognizing them, but it's not. Any help would be MOST appreciated.

  • Nikon D80 RAW files and Apperture

    Hi,
The RAW files comig out of a Nikopn camera are of the NEF format. This is the begining of my experimentaiotn with RAW image processing and I am begining to sense that the RAW designation is more internal than external and the extention of the file varies by camer itself. So, if the files generated in the camera have NEF extention how do I use Apperture to open them? Apperture does import the file but it says NEF is an unsupported format.
    Thanks for the help.

For the D80 support, you'll want to install the Digital Camera RAW Support Update 1.0.1 at:

  • Lightroom 5.3 won't preview or import Nikon D7100 Raw Images

I'm using LIghtroom 5.3, and raw camera 8.3, the latest update available. I found from Adobe's site that this version supports D7100 raw image imports.  But when trying to import D7100 raw  images, I get a message that "the file is not recognized by the raw format support in LIghtroom."
I'm hoping someone can help with this, as obivously getting help from Adobe is not possible beyond FAQs.
    thanks,
    -Bob

    Bob,
I am using LR 5.3 with D7100 RAW files with no problems, so there should be a solution to your situation.  It might help find a solution if you tell us what computer you have, what OS, the specs, and more importantly, how you are trying to import the files.  Are you connecting the camera directly to the computer?  Are you using a card reader -- internal or external?  Are you copying the files to your hard drive and then importing into LR from there?  At one point in the past, there was a problem with Nikon Transfer somehow changing NEF files so that they wouldn't be read by LR.
As a test, try copying a few NEF files from you memory card to your hard drive using the OS file manager -- Finder or Windows Explorer -- and then try importing into LR.  Does that work?

  • Lighthouse 3.6 and Nikon D3200 raw images

I have Lighthouse 3.6.  What do I need to do in order to read/edit Nikon D3200 camera's raw image?

My mistake.  Sorry!  Support for your camera was not added until the 7.1 release.  It is still a release candidate, and you need to download it from the Adobe Labs web site.  The DNG converter is packaged with ACR in the release candidate package, and you will not be able to use ACR 7.1 with your older version of Photoshop.  But the DNG converter will work.
