Nikon D800E imports

I have Lightroom 3.  Do I have to upgrade to 4 or 5 to be able to import pictures from a Nikon D800E?

Thank you.  The consensus seems to be to upgrade to Lightroom 5 which I will do.

You need Lightroom 4 or CS6.  Otherwise you will have to download the free DNG software and convert images.

  • Why cant I import my Nikon D800E NEF files - just started recently - "unable to copy a file"

Why cant I import my Nikon D800E NEF files in LR 4.3 - just started recently -I have been doing the same thing for months and never had a problem. "unable to copy a file to location"

Thanks, but no I do have plenty of space. What I just did was to move the NEF files off of my card and into the location I wanted them. I then just did an import move to the same location. This is just all very odd because it always had worked fine in the past. I do appreciate you trying to help.

  • Why do my raw images (fr Nikon d800e) show up bright for 1 second and then darken in Aperture?

I'm new to this site so I apologize for the long question.  When I import raw files from my Nikon D800e into Aperture (3.2.3), they show up bright for one second and then darken slightly.  Is this normal?  It didn't happen with raw files from my Nikon D300.  I have to adjust the brightness and exposure to make them bright again.  thanks, Mike

One of the changes in Aperture 3 as it has evolved, is to first use the Preview generated by the camera.  It waits to generate its own Preview until you actually click to display that one image.  Until then the thumbnails are based upon the camera provided JPEG Preview.
In earlier versions, you never saw that, but only the initial Preview generated in Aperture.  It is not because of the different camera.
Btw, if you are using 10.8.2, why have you not updated to Aperture 3.4.3?

  • Nikon D800E & it's moire

Can Aperture remove moire from Nikon D800E?

Moire controls are found in the RAW Fine Tuning brick.  These adjustments are applied to the entire Image (they cannot be brushed onto the Image).

  • Please go on and Nikon D800E Support

With my first message here I want to encourage the developers of Apple Aperture:
Please go on making Aperture even better.
Aperture was my reason to switch to Mac. This was exactly 5 years before in April 2007 and I never ever regretted this big step. Aperture was a great tool and it remains a great tool. Being a professional photographer I passed during these 5 years about 750.000 images through Aperture and keep about 100.000 in my main database. All works without any big problem for these 5 years now. I love its perfect control layout for quick and precise work with big amounts of files. For me it is a perfect solution.
All main upgrades brought huge improvements. So please: Dear Apple Aperture developers, give us an Aperture 4.0 - we all wait for it. No need to hurry from my perspective. But I would love to be amazed by new features. My most missed tool is an automated lens corrections. For me this is the only real advantage of lightroom or DXO. For me the biggest step would be an integration of the DXO lens correction itself or the ptlens engine.
Okay and now one urgent petition:
Please add RAW support for the Nikon D800E quickly. This camera is the ultimate tool. The best camera I ever owned. Far ahead each other camera except the D800. The E is somehow exotic because of the lack of the anti-aliasing filter, but believe me: Many many professionals will buy it and many many amateur landscape photographers.
    Thank you
    wolframs

I'd be quite surprised is Apple doesn't soon add the D800/e to the list of compatible cameras, but, of course, I don't know.  I do know that if you want to have a chance of having your request heard by Apple, you must use the channel Apple provides for feedback:  "Aperture→Provide Aperture Feedback".
Enjoy your camera  .  And the 450-page printed manual.  Yikes.

  • Edit in Photoshop CS6 doesn't work with Nikon D800E NEF files in LR 4.1 RC

The "Edit in Photoshop CS6" menu item or shortcut (cmd+e) doesn't work for NEF files from a Nikon D800E in Lightroom 4.1 RC.  What happens is that LR looks like it goes through all its normal paces, and launches Photoshop, and the CPU spins, but then nothing happens in Photoshop, the image never opens.
This works fine for NEF files from other cameras.

Set up CS6 as an secondary editor, and then it will use LR's built-in ACR to process the files, instead of the external ACR with CS6. The external ACR 6.7 also processes D800, just not ACR 7 just yet.

  • How to open Nikon D800E Raw files in PSE9? [was:Gad, what next?]

I'm not a beginner, but after installing and upgrading Photoshop Elements 9, I find it cannot recognize RAW files from Nikon D800E. Either don't load, or load just noise, no picture. Suggestions -- I hope?

Moved from Photoshop for Beginners forum to Photoshop Elements forum
The D800E was first supported in Camera Raw 6.7
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
which is only compatible with PSE10 or later
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
You can either upgrade to PSE12 to open and read Raw files in PSE
or download the free DNG converter, convert all D800E Raw files to DNGs then open and edit the DNGs in PSE9

  • I have cs5 for windows and can´t use camera raw (6.5) with nikon d800e

I have photoshop cs5 and can´t use camera raw (6.5) for nikon d800e.

You will need to update to the latest ACR ver 6.7.1 for Photoshop cs5.
If you  go to Photoshop's Help menu > Updates..., it should be available for download.

  • Camera raw plug in para nikon d800e

Gracias

    http://www.adobe.com/es/products/photoshop-lightroom/buying-guide.html

  • NIKON D800E files not recognized in lightroom 4.4

my lightroom 4 is up to date (waiting for lightroom 5 to be given to me - apparently they are having ordering issues so may take 24 hrs and i need to finish this project NOW)
why does it not recognize NIKON D800E files? is there a way around this or do i have to wait for my lightroom 5 to be delivered?
getting a message saying 'The files are not recognized by the raw format support in lightroom. (517)'
    thanks!

That makes sense, especially if the NEFs are also not readable in LR5.
To correct any corruption from using obsolete Nikon software on newer camera NEFs, you can use the utility, here:

  • Nikon D800E Raw format

Hi! I have a new Nikon D800E; cannot open photographies with the Nikon Raw format (NEF) in Photoshop elements 10. Is an upgrade foreseen?
    Ercole

You could wait for pse 11, but the 6.7 camera raw plugin can handle the nikon D800E files directly without the need to use the dng converter.
And no one here is supposed to say exactly when pse 11 will be released (if they know in first place).
If the Help>Update doesn't work for you can download the plugin and install it into pse 10.
here's a list of what cameras and camera raw converters are compatible:

  • ACR and Nikon D800e Raw files

This discussion is actually a follow on to an earlier one where I thought the issue was resolved. I am using CS5 extended 64 bit with WIN 7 64bit and ACR version 6.7. I verified the ACR version checking for updates and was informed I am up to date. According to the ADOBE help site ACR v 6.7 is available to open Nikon D800e raw files. However when I try and open these raw files there is a message that the camera model is not supported. Any help on why the raw files cannot be opened with ACR 6.7 is appreciated.

Thanks Noel - after several hours of experimenting,  I found the issue. I use a stand a lone software, Nikon Transfer, to download images to the computer. The software allows me to preview/select,  rename, and make simultaneous copies for backup. This software has worked without issue, however when downloading images from the Nikon D800e, it does something to the raw files making them incompatible with ADOBE's ACR and even Nikon's ViewNX 2 software. Now here is the real curosity. When Nikon Transfer is initiated from within Nikon View2 software and not as a stand a lone, it works, and ADOBE ACR 6.7 can read the raw files. Again thanks for the help.

  • Will aperture work with nikon d800e

I am getting a new Nikon D800E will apeture work with it?

Aperture does not support D800e raw files.
You can request suport here and shoot RAW+JPEG while you wait. Or use other software.
