Nikon d810 won't tether

My Nikon D810 will not tether with lightroom. I've tried three different USB 3.0 Cords, Two different computers and reinstalling lightroom and have made sure its up to date 5.6
Help?

It isn't on the list of supported cameras for tethering. Perhaps sometime in the future.

  • Raw files from Nikon d810 won't import

I have LR 5.7 and  new Nikon d810. Every time I try to import raw files, it doesn't work. Just stalls, and sometimes even crashes. I've tried different memory cards, a card reader, and importing directly by connecting the camera itself. Please advise.

That makes sense, at least as a default (thus the term "hidden" ).

Right. *And* there are instructions for doing that in the document here:
Preference and other file locations in Lightroom 5
*And* some people are saying they followed said instructions (e.g. Uvjjacob in this thread) but still: "ain't no preference file there".
Begging the question: "did they really follow those instructions correctly? if not, why not, and if so, then why no preference file there.."
If I had to guess, I'd say operator error, but I like to give the benefit of doubt, otherwise problem may be swept under rug with the broom of denial.

  • Have CS 5 Installed on my iMac and works ok. But installed on my new MacBook Pro it won't open NEF files from my Nikon D810. Displays NEF icons, but when I try and open them the response is: Make sure latest RAW updates are installed. If problem persists

Have CS 5 Installed on my iMac and works ok. But installed on my new MacBook Pro it won't open NEF files from my Nikon D810. Displays NEF icons, but when I try and open them the response is: Make sure latest RAW updates are installed. If problem persists follow link: http://www.adobe.com/go/kb407111. Have installed Bridge 5.0.2.4; Raw Ref Version 7.0.0.308; DNG converter_8_7_1.dmg; Bridge 5.0.2 Update 2. Also same problem with Lightroom which I don't normally use. Lightroom_3_LS11_mac_3_6.dmg installed.

In the link you posted it states that the Nikon 810 requires ACR 8.6 or newer.
Version of ACR are specific to versions of Photoshop. You cannot use 8.6 nor even 7.0.in CS5.
I believe that ACR 6.7 is the latest that will work with CS5, so make sure you have this installed and get rid of ACR 7.
Having 2 versions of ACR will cause problems.
You have already downloaded DNG Converter 8.7.1.
Have you double clicked the DMG file to allow you to install DNG Converter on your computer?
Be aware that DNG converter is a stand-along application and not a plug-in.
You need to open DNG converter at select the FOLDER that contain your .NEF files.
Don't open the folder and try to select individual files, it doesn't work that way.
After converting your D810 files to DNGs you can then open the DNGs in CS5
The problem is your camera didn't exist when CS5 & its version of ACR was developed.
i don't use Lightroom, but the list mentions Lightroom 5.6 as needed to open D819 so your 3.6 version of LR won't cut it.

  • How do I tether the Nikon D810 to Lightroom 5.6?

How do I tether the Nikon D810 to Lightroom 5.6? I'm getting "No camera detected", but Nikon Capture 2.18 is reading the camera. Thanks!

See the link below for camera models supported in Lightroom for tether capture.
    Tethered camera support in Lightroom
The D810 is not yet supported.
Adobe uses the Nikon SDK to prepare support for new camera models. The link below shows the camera models for which a SDK has been issued by Nikon. The D810 is not yet on that list.

  • Cannot tether nikon d810 to lightroom.

Does anybody know how to tether the nikon d810 to lightroom? It "does not recognize" the Nikon d810 but it "does" recognize" the Nikon d800 and will start the tether down load. Is there an update for cameras in lightroom?

The camera is supported for its raw files, but it isn't supported for tethering at this point.

  • Why won't elements 12 download raw files from Nikon D810?

Why won't elements 12 download raw files from Nikon D810?  I got a message saying that the camera model is not supported by installed version of camera raw.  How do I fix it?

Photoshop Elements questions should be posted in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum. Somehow your thread got posted in the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum (video editing).
You can re-post your thread in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum or wait for a moderator here to see your thread here and move it from here to there.
My opinion on this....from the Photoshop Elements perspective...
Nikon D810 is supported by Camera Raw 8.6 and higher (latest version of Camera Raw is 8.7)
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
At the same time, the Camera Raw version needs to be supported by the Photoshop Elements version.
Photoshop Elements 12 appears to support Camera Raw up to 8.5 which does not support the Nikon D810.
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
    Solution...
    a. switch to Photoshop Elements 13 (comes with Camera Raw 8.6 and can be updated to 8.7).
    b. use the DNG Converter in Photoshop Elements 12

  • Can lightroom Tether shooting with a Nikon D810 or D4s?

  • Why won't the raw files from my new Nikon D810 open in ACR?

I just shot a newborn session on my brand new Nikon D810 and my RAW files will not open in ACR or CC or PSE. Everything is up to date. This is my first time using the new camera and the photos are for a paying client. Am I screwed until the new ACR updates are released? Or is there some magic fix until then? I'm panicking!

Every new camera comes with its own specific Raw file format and Adobe must add support to Camera Raw for each individual camera released on the market. There's often a time lag between the camera shipping and Raw support being added to Camera Raw.
Lots of D810s are now in circulation (dozens of D810 Raw support requests have popped up in these forums recently) and Raw support from Adobe is imminent but not yet final.
D810 support has just been added to the yet-to-be-released Camera Raw 8.6.
Adobe has made the Release Candidate version (a kind of post-beta, pre release) available for further testing prior to final release.
Download Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw 8.6 Beta - Adobe Labs
Install manually but use at your own risk until final release.

  • Nikon D810 9mp raw files won't open

Apple released an RAW update for Nikon D810 cameras. How long until the 9MB RAW files have an update?

Yes, you are correct about the small RAW files.
The primary problem that I have is that I have already taken the photos. In other words I'm looking to edit/process photos that I have already taken. The shoot is done. Finished. And I can't open them in Aperture.
Once I figured out that the smaller raw files can't be opened with Aperture, I switched to the full sized raw setting. So I'm good for processing future photos.
Anyone have any news about raw update for small, 9mp d810 raw files?

  • Why won't iMac open my new Nikon D810's NEF/RAW files?

I have a new Nikon D810 and my new iMac will not open it's NEF/RAW files. Is there a fix upcoming?

Sorry, I didn't realize this issue had already been addressed. Hopefully Apple will address this problem in a timely manner like Adobe has.

  • Does Photoshop CS6 support Nikon D810 raw files?

Does Photoshop CS6 support Nikon D810 raw files? Photoshop won't allow me to open the raw files and Bridge won't display the files either. I tried to download the camera raw plug-in 8.6 but read somewhere that Photoshop CS6 doesn't support it? HELP!!!

It should. The D810 had support since version 8.6. (A relative newcomer.) Did you use Help > Updates on the menu bar?
Take note that the updates for Camera Raw in CS6 only supports updates for cameras and nothing more. You won't get any of the new features inherent in the versions for Photoshop CC (like the filter brush in the Graduated Filter).

  • Yosemite/Aperture 3.6 No Support for Nikon D810/ Raw-S Files ?

I am thoroughly confused.  I only recently began "drinking the Apple Kool-Aid" and am quite disturbed to learn (after upgrading to Yosemite & Aperture 3.6) that Nikon d810 Raw-S files are NOT supported....
What gives ?  I mean you pay premium dollars for what is allegedly a premium product (MacBook Pro - Retina latest edition) you have the latest/ greatest software (Yosemite & Aperture 3.6) and the latest/greatest camera (Nikon D810) and one of the file formats is simply "Not supported ?"  Seriously ??
I have had more compatibility issues with Apple and its software since being convinced by all the marketing hype to "drink the Kool-Aid" than I ever had with my ancient Dell XP PC laptop....
Getting back to the point.  Why no Raw-S Support for Nikon d810 ?
Will there be support for the Nikon d-810 Raw-S files at some point ? If so, when ?
    If not, WHY ?
What should I do with the 400 photos I took of a high school hockey game in Raw-S format given I am now drinking only the "Apple Kool-Aid?"

Apple can't release it until Nikon supplies them with the required information.
Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Nikon D810 support for lightroom 4.4 ?

I just installed an update to Lightroom 4.4 and it seems like the Nikon D810 is still not supported. Is this correct? I'm trying to shoot tethered.

Don't you think Adobe could just add the camera support via updates to previous versions of Lightroom?
I am NOT an Adobe defender/fan-boy, but I fully support Adobe's policy to NOT maintain legacy versions of Lightroom software - somebody has to pay for that, and it ain't the people not upgrading who do..
If you really want to read newer raws using older software you can convert them to DNG (converter is free) - tethering support not included.. You can tether with older Lr software using non-Lr tethering software and auto-import in Lr, although I recommend upgrading instead (or also..).
How much was that D810? - how much is an Lr upgrade?

  • Where is support for Nikon d810?

Lightroom 5.2 is not importing Nikon d810 NEF files.  I have downloaded the latest Camera Raw from Adobe Labs.  That sight says that the D810 is supported but apparently not.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you are trying to use Camera Raw with Lightroom, that won't work. Lightroom does not use the Camera Raw plug-in. The D810 is supported in Camera Raw 8.6 release candidate and the DNG converter 8.6 release candidate. That should indicate that it will probably be supported in the next release of Lightroom. In the meantime you could try downloading the DNG converter 8.6 RC and convert your raw images to the DNG format. Adobe has not announced when Lightroom 5.6 will be available.

  • Lightroom 5.4 won't tether to Canon EOS 70D

Lightroom 5.4 won't tether to my Canon EOS 70D - Keeps flashing "no camera detected" to "Canon EOS 70D". So it must see the camera, but I can't access it. Adobe shows the 70D was supported in version 5.2. I can transfer images fine from the camera, but not tether it.

There are people waiting for tethering support for the slightly higher-end Nikon D610 for a similar amount of time.  It’s almost as if Adobe postpones releasing tethering support until they are not busy with other things or there are enough new cameras to warrant the effort and then they catch up.  I’m sure tethering is not easy to get to work, sometimes, and there is both PC and Macs to worry about.
Another issue, besides having to wait for the manufacturer to release their SDK which usually doesn’t happen for several months after a new camera is for sale, is that sometimes older models of cameras are dropped from support when newer models are added to the SDK, so perhaps Adobe also delays support for new cameras due to people, perhaps Adobe employees or internal beta testers, still using older ones.  Or maybe it is a simple matter of priority and the number of people affected by bugs is more than the number of people affected by not tethering a particular model of camera.
