Nikon Df and Lightroom 5

Just purchased a Nikon Df - any news on when I'll be able to read the Raw files on Adobe Lightroom 5?

Have a look at this thread.

  • Nikon D5500 and Lightroom  RAW file

Just got my Nikon D5500 and Lightroom will not recognize the RAW file.  Does anyone know of an available update?

AT THIS TIME, the only way to use D5500 RAWs is to use the software supplied by Nikon, convert them to TIF, and import those into Lightroom.
At some point in the future, Lightroom should be able to import the D5500 RAWs directly, but no one knows when that will be. Possibly 2-3 months, but I have no inside information, I could be totally wrong.

  • Nikon D800 and Lightroom

I have Lightroom 3 currently and updated to 3.6
I purchased the Nikon D800 and shoot my images with the RAW setting. However, these images will not transfer to Lightroom. I was told that I need Lightroom 4 in order to be able to transfer RAW images.
Is this 100% accurate? I do not want to purchase Lightroom 4 assuming this will be the answer.
PLEASE if someone could respond ASAP that would be great.

So if I purchase the Lightroom 4 software, my RAW files WILL transport from my Nikon D800?
Yes, as per the link provided by twenty_one above.
I get the teacher/student discount. Is L4 downloadable online or should I order it from Amazon, etc.?

  • Nikon D750 and Lightroom

I just received a Nikon D750 and am unable to import my RAW files into Lightroom. I recognizes them in the first step but will not download them. I shoot in RAW and have done the 5.6 update.

As I said, you can import your DNGs into Lightroom.
You download the software, run the installer program, and then run the program. Camera Raw: How to use Adobe DNG Converter - YouTube

  • Nikon D7000 and Lightroom and Elements

I just purchased a Nikon D7000 and cannot open RAW images in Lightroom 2 or Elements 7.  I have been using these 2 programs successfully with images from my Nikon D70s.  Has anyone else encountered this problem?

You need Lightroom 3.3 or Elements 9 to process Nikon D7000 raw photos.
An alternative is to download the DNG Converter (version 6.3) and convert your D7000 .NEF files to DNG, in which case your versions of Elements and Lightroom will be able to process the DNG photos.

  • Big difference in colors between Nikon Capture and Lightroom

I've been using Nikon Capture for ~4 years. Lightroom seems like the solution to many of my gripes about Capture. However, I'm having difficulty with colors. The photos linked below are from an unmodified NEF, converted to a jpeg by Capture and LR. No modifications to the image by either program.
    http://chicory.stanford.edu/rjones/photos/linked/Lightroom_vs_Capture.jpg
My complaint is that the reds and browns in the stone and the door are much more vivid in the Capture-rendered jpg.
I know from other threads that LR is ignoring (or can't see because Nikon hides it) some of the in-camera settings. But, I've spent a lot of time in the Develop module with White Balance, Hue, and Camera Raw settings and I can't get anything that looks as "punchy" as what Capture produces for these colors.
    Any ideas?

  • Nikon D5200 and Lightroom 4 - Incompatible Raw Files

I just purchased a Nikon D5200. When I attempted to import my photographs into Lightroom 4, the raw files were incompatible. Every support topic I found said that I needed to go to the help menu in Lightroom and click "check for updates." But when I go to the help menu there is no option to check for updates. After I attempted to import the files and the dialog box said that the import failed there was a option to check for updated. When I clicked on this nothing happened.
I manually downloaded version 4.4. I installed it, but when I open Lightroom it still says I am running 4.1. I have restarted Lightroom and my computer.

On my MAC, Lightroom has ALWAYS replaced the old one.  This has been on Snow Leopard thru Mountain Lion.   It just replaces the "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.app" in the applications folder with the new package.  The Dock icon then points to the new one.  I have never ran a RC so maybe this has something to do with it.

  • Nikon D800e and Lightroom 4.1?

When can we expect the Nikon D800e to be able to capture via direct tether in lightroom 4.1?

About the only answer you will get for that question here is that if it is ever available it will be available when it is.  Adobe doesn't make announcements about those features ahead of time.  And, not all cameras have support for tethered shooting in Lightroom.  So now it becomes a matter of IF it is provided it will be provided when it is.

  • Nikon D600 and Lightroom 3?!?

Please can someone help me?! I just bought the new D600 from Nikon. Great camera. Only problem is that my Lightroom 3 will not read the raw files? Please can someone help me with this?!

You need Lr 4.2 for the D600.
Alternatively, convert the D600's files to DNG, which Lr 3 can handle.

  • Nikon P7000 and .NRW in Lightroom 3.2

I just got the new Nikon Coolpix P7000- and Lightroom seems does not seem tor recognize its RAW .nrw images. Is this a known issue? If so, is there a workaround?

Cornelia-I wrote: Hi clvrmnky,I do not quite agree that you always need a DSLR for shooting raw consistently.Of course that is the preferred way.
Raws  from a Canon G12 are phenomenal. I had read a few people say there's no  reason to bother with raws on a compact... - I disagree. There may have  been no reason to bother with raws on the Canon SX1 with a 14MP 1/2.3"  CMOS sensor (which Canon pulled off the market, presumably due to  embarassingly poor image quality, that and it wasn't selling well at a  price point well into DSLR territory), but the G12 raws & Lightroom  were a match made in heaven! - especially with Adobe Standard profile.  Interestingly enough, the camera profiles aren't too swift, yet -  granted, the camera is not officially supported yet (uses G11 profiles).
Anyway, when I don't want selective focus, I'm not  shooting things that are moving around too fast (especially in low  light), or I'm shooting macros of things that don't mind me getting in  their face (and if I don't mind a wider field-of-view for those macros,  and the lens won't block all the light), I can get just as good results  with the Canon G12 as I can with my Nikon D300, if not better.
Stopping a D300 down to f22 (or f36...) to take a macro that I could  get with a G12 at f2.8 (or 4.0...)  just doesn't make sense to me -  unless you really like using tripods and really don't like sharp  macros. Again, if you want more focus selectivity and you're not going  to stop it down past f16 or so then the table turns again...
Likewise,  "2D" landscapes (meaning uniform non-selective focus) taken with the  G12 at ISO-80 have suprising image quality, dynamic range, colors, ...,  and are tack sharp - edge-to-edge, corner-to-corner - minimal  vignetting... Literally better than a D300 except maybe if you have a  standard focal length FX lens on it, or a $2000+ pro wide angle lens  (I'm guessing here - I don't own any of those).
And if you want something really close and really far away to be sharp in focus - you have to shoot it with a G12 - you can't get it with a D300.
Don't  get me wrong - I "love" my D300 for taking photos of birds fluttering  about before the sunrise, with the lens open wide and the ISO cranked  up, and for isolating subjects from a busy background..., or creative  macros... But, right tool for the right job, ya know...
PS  - Substitute your favorite high-end compact for the G12 (I'm sure the P7000 is just as nice - same sensor / great lens...), and your  favorite DSLR for the D300 (adjusting aperture considerations  accordingly)...
PPS - Cornelia - you're welcome. And,  you can start using those S95 raws in Lightroom right-away, with a  little help from exiftool and/or the importer.

  • NIKON D5000 NEF - Lightroom 2.6 and PSE show colors quite differently from what Nikon Software show

With my Nikon D5000 DSLR camera, I took recently photos from small blue flowers. I had set-up my Nikon D5000 to create for every photo both a NEF File and a JPEG File (and had set my camera to use Automatic While Balance).
I noticed that for NEF Files Lightroom 2.6 (and also PSE 7, that uses internally Camera RAW ) shows me the blue colors of the flowers quite differently from what I see with PSE for the jpeg file. It is my impression, that it is in the Jpeg files, that the blue color is close to the reality; and  that it is with the NEF Files that Lightroom and PSE show a blue color that is quite different from the reality.
I also looked at the photo files with the NIKON "View Nx" 1.3.0 Software that came with my camera. With "View Nx" the blue colors (both with the NEF file and the Jpeg File) are very vlose that what i see with PSE 7 in the jpeg file (and quite different from what I see with LR and PSE for the .NEF File).
I mentioned this problem to Nikon Support. They suggested, that Nikon Software and Adobe software use different algorithms; and that the Nikon algorithms are better/closer adapted to the Nikon cameras than the more generalized Adobe algorithms that need to support a very large number of cameras.
But ....it is Lightroom that i wish to use to process my NEF Files and PSE that I wish to use to organize my Photos. Can a LR/Camera-RAW expert help me? I would like to find a solution to see with LR and with PSE in my D5000 NEF Photo Files blue colors that are close to the reality and close to what Nikon Software shows me on my PC. Please notice that I am very far away from being a professional and that i will probably not understand complicated explanations.
    Thanks a lot in advance.
An additional note, that is perhaps not relevant: I used LR to convert my NEF File into a JPEG File format and looked at the blue in the result. It looks the same as what LR and PSE show me for the .NEF File (and looks different from the jpeg file crreated by the NIKON camera).

    EJ and Jim
Thank You very much for your useful feedback.
I realize, that as a neophit I am an exot among the community of photo-experts and photo-professionals addressed by LR.  Therefore the wish that I will now express is perhaps inadequate. But since it is gently, that i express this wish, I am probably allowed to do so......
My wish for a future version of LR, is that LR comes out of the box with a "reasonable" interpretation of the RAW images of most important/widespread modern cameras....without requiring that non-experts like me gets confronted from the very beginning with the need to develop their own default settings.
For this wish, I will formulate a Feature Request.
You might wonder, why a non-expert like me is interested in LR instead of  using those Photo-Editing Software (e.g. PSE) that are supposed to address the need of non-experts. Well..... I am coming from the PSE world. I am reasolnably happy with the PSE Organizer....but  I hate the complex, inefficient, unfriendli "user-interface" (experts will probably tell: workflow-interface?) of the PSE Editor. Its really a last-century Software. LR is so much more friendly, even for non-experts...within the Library Module, i do not need to switch back and forth between one dialogue-window for each type of change.... nearly all what i need is in that one right-hand pane of the Library module.
I honestly believe, that Adobe should take a serious look at promoting/marketing  LR also to the audience of non-experts. That would be a good and attractive additional marketing opportunity for LR.

Blue screen/Computer shuts down is almost always a hardware malfunction or a driver problem.
Make sure your video driver is up to date.
If it is, then the next suspect, in my mind, is overheating, make sure all of the fans in your CPU case are working properly.
