NIKON P7800 NRW files

Can support of the NIKON P7800 camera's NRW files be added to Camera Raw so I convert them to DNG files which I can use in Photoshop Elements?  Thanks
Henk

Hi JImHess,
When I try to install the 8.3RC patch, the installation program tells me that this patch is not for me. I use Photoshop Elements version 10 and DNG Converter version 8.2.0.94. The patch is presumably for other Adobe Prducts?  Please advise
Thanks

  • Nikon P7800 RAW files

Nikon P7800 RAW files are not showing up in Lightroom or Bridge.  CC says all aps are up to date, and Adobe site says Camera 8.3 update is available.  But when I open ACR it iss showing verion 8.2.
Is the file viewer and RAW converter for NRW files from the P7800 available on CC?

The P7800 is listed as being newly supported with the upcoming release of ACR 8.3.
You can download a preliminary release-candidate version of ACR 8.3 from Adobe Labs:

  • Does Adobe have a plug in for Photoshop CS6 to open Nikon P7800 raw files?

I recently purchased a Nikon P7800 camera.  I am using a MacBook Pro computer and Adobe Photoshop CS6.  Does Adobe have a plug-in/update that will allow me to open the camera raw files?  If they do where do I find it to install it?

What version of Camera Raw are you currently using? You need at least version 8.3 but the latest version is 9.
Also, note this document: Adobe Camera Raw Help | Adobe Camera Raw 8.4 or later on Mac OS 10.6, Windows XP, and Vista

  • Aperture 3.1.1 & DCR 3.6 Fails to import Nikon P7000 NRW files

What is wrong - DCR 3.5 was supposed to add the P7000? Does this capability require 10.6.x?

Your questions got me on the proper path. Now I can load the NRW files into Aperture. The key was to first transfer the files from the card to a folder and then on into Aperture.
The P7000 is a new camera for me and I am just testing and getting a feel for it. As none of the shots seemed to worth saving and I was loading them directly from the card. All 6 files were shown as being available for import but when I checked all the files I got a message about some files being unacceptable. I unchecked the NRWs and the jpegs were loaded. The SDHC card plugs into a SanDisk MobileMate SD+ memory card reader and that into a USB port on the from the Mac Pro. My usual camera is a D200 and I always first load its photo files into folder and then import them into Aperture from the folder. I'll have to use the same procedure for the P7000 as well.
Thanks for the very useful and quick replies.

  • When will Adobe support Nikon NRW file format?

    Adobe guys and ladies,
Is there any information that you can add to the dialog shown below that will help me decide if the NRW format used by the Nikon P7000 P&S will be compatible with my >> 10,000 image Lightroom collection?
    thanks,

I now shoot topside and underwater (using an Ikelite housing) with a D300S. My work flow is to copy the nef files to Lightroom 3 (for Mac) as dng files for tweaking either in LR3 or occasionally in Photoshop. I'm presently considering a P&S such as the P7000 but I'm concerned that the proprietary nrw format will be a "deal killer". How do I convert nrw files to either raw, nef or dng but not tif? WK

HI Thanks for the question. As with any new model software to convert RAW images will have to be updated for newer models. The Microsoft WIC compatible NRW should easily be read and converted by your software once they update for the newer model. Of course for the best conversion we'd recommend using Nikon Capture NX2. Thanks -David

Hi, The issue of file incompatibility is of great concern for many potential P7000 buyers. Let me ask the question a bit differently: Can the NRW format used by the P7000 camera be read directly (or converted to NEF or DNG formats) by available Mac software such as Aperture, iPhoto, Adobe Lightroom 3 or Adobe Photoshop 5? thanks, WK
    Response 09/16/2010 08:35 AM
HI Thanks for the update. I'm sorry but you'd have to ask Adobe and Apple about their plans to support the P7000 images. I'd guess based on their support for other RAW format we've produced that they would but since it is their software they would be the ones who could answer. Sorry we can't help more. -David

Of course, Nikon does its best to obfuscate their file formats...
That's a load of CR@P - please cease this continued misinformation.
Even in the earliest days when Nikon encrypted their white balance, it was decryptable via the Nikon SDK (without having to use the rendering feature as well...). Its just that Adobe wasn't using the SDK because the Nikon formats are all based on tif and as such are easy enough for Adobe to deal with without resorting to the SDK that they hadn't bothered. At that time, Thomas Knoll made some off-hand remarks that started a huge wave of misinformation that has been propagated on the internet ever since. In my opinion, he owes Nikon and the photography community an official public apology.
Nikon's purpose in controlling access to the information in NEFs was aimed at quality control, so idiots like me didn't start futzing with their camera data via plugins and fly-by-night applications and smearing Nikon's good name to people who didn't know enough not to blame things on Nikon. In the beginning, Nikon required approval before releasing their SDK to third party vendors. Now, it is available immediately to anyone willing to fill out a form on their website (and it includes complete documentation). Until you, or anybody else claiming this that or the other thing about the accessibility of information in Nikon's camera files, downloads the SDK and plays with it, to see for yourself, you don't know what you are talking about.
The fact that there was a delay between the release of the P6000 and its support in CaptureNX does not prove anything except Nikon was eager to release the camera, and followed up with changes to the SDK and/or CaptureNX after the fact.
I apologize if the tone of this post seems stern, but in my opinion, its time for the misinformation to stop, and the huge body of erroneous information on the internet to begin to be dismantled.
Note: I am not a Nikon defender. I just don't like to see people being unfair to them.

  • Nikon coolpix P6000 NRW files not recognized

    Hello,
On my new Nikon, when I try to download the RAW images, neither iPhoto nor Image Capture will recognize the Nikon's RAW NRW format. If I shoot the images in JPEG, it is fine.
If I use Nikon's included software, I can download the RAW images to a folder, then import them into iPhoto with no problems. I do have the latest update for iPhoto which is supposed to include support for the NRW file format.
It doesn't matter if I use a card reader or usb hookup directly to the camera.
Is there a setting that I am missing? I would prefer to continue using either iPhoto or Image Capture to download my photos.
    Thanks,
    Mitch

    Hi Terence,
I have found where the USB transfer protocol is listed as MTP,PTP. The manual lists no option for changing that.
However, when I connect the memory card via a card reader, the memory card does show up in the finder, but it has the same problem, no pictures available for download.
I see on the Nikon website that there is a firmware update available for the coolpix, and I am waiting for Nikon to send me my password so that I can download it. I'll see if that makes a difference, but with even the memory card not showing any pictures, I don't really think that the problem is with the camera.
    Thanks,
    Mitch

  • NRW files from Nikon P340 in PSE11

I have PSE11.  I recently purchased a Nikon P340 which uses NRW files.  I cannot open these files in Camera Raw 7.4.  Any solutions?

The P340 was first supported in Camera Raw 8.4
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
Camera Raw 8.4 is only compatible with Elements 12 or newer. It is not compatible with Elements 11.
    Some options:
    Upgrade to Elements 12
Download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all Raw P340 files to DNGs using the DNG Converter then open the DNGs in Elements 11

  • Can Nikon's P7700 NRW files work in PSE?

Can Nikon's P7700 NRW files work in PSE7, using some plug-in, or something? I love PSE7 and do not want to upgrade (used PSE11 few times on frieds computer, and did not like it at all).
So far I've been convering files using Nikon's ViewNx2 to TIFF - which work OK, but Camera RAW on PSE7 would be better and easier (and faster) to use, then normal editor, which I have to use with TIFFs.
    Thanks

You'd have to use the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your RAWs to DNG.
    Or upgrade to PSE12

  • Open Nikon NRW Files In PSE 10

What do I need to do to open Nikon NRW (raw) files in Elements 10?

The Nikon Coolpix P7700 is newer than PSE10 can be updated to support.  Specifically, the P7700 started to be supported with Adobe Camera Raw version 7.2.  PSE10 only was updatable to ACR 6.7, I believe, so to read your P7700 files in PSE, you need PSE11.
An alternative is to convert the NRW files to DNG files using the current Adobe DNG Converter and open the DNGs in older camera-raw versions.  You will want to be sure to set the DNG Compatibility options in the DNGC to something that ACR 6.7 can understand, which would be ACR 6.6, not the ACR 7.1 that it defaults to the first time you run it.
You can download the current DNG Converter, from the regular Adobe Updates page:

  • How to open NRW-files in Lightroom 4?I

just bought Nikon's Coolpix P7800. It says you can shoot in Raw. Now I want to open these files in LR, just like I'm used to with my SLR's. But Nikon uses the NRW-format for Raw and LR says it doesn't recognise the files. Does someone know if there's a way to convert and work with these files in LR 4?

    Thanks Jim for your response,
    I will upgrade to 5.3

  • .NRW files not displaying thumbnails in Bridge

.NRW RAW files from Nikon P7800 do not display thumbnails or metadata in Bridge. PsCC, Bridge and CR 8.3 are all showing as up to date on CC Desktop App. Files display correctly in Lr 5.3. Any suggestions ?

    I have:
    PhotoshopCC>Edit>Preferences>CameraRaw>8.3.0.141
    BridgeCC>Edit>CameraRawPreferences>8.2.0.94
The computer found  6 files  named Camera Raw.8bi.  They are in pairs , two in the CS5 folder and two in the CS6 folder, two in the CC folder. One of each pair has >Program Files(x86)> The other one has  >Program Files>.
When I go to C:\ Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats\ only one (Camera Raw.8bi) file shows. This was created on 18 March 2013 and modified on 3 December 2013.
If I go to C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats\ another (Camera Raw.8bi) file appears, created and modified same date and time as the first one.
Is this making any sense ? Thanks for your help.
It appears Bridge is using CR 8.2, the question is why and how do I persuade it to preference CR 8.3
By the way, I failed to mention it previously CR is converting and editing the NRW files normally, I just can't see their thumbnails in Bridge.

  • Camera Raw Profile for Nikon P7800

    Adobe Bridge CC
    Camera Raw CC
    Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
In Camera Raw, using a Nikon P7800 created NRW raw file.
    Camera Calibration | Camera Profile
    Only Matrix is available.
In Camera Raw, using a Canon G16 created CR2 raw file.
    Camera Calibration | Camera Profile
    Adobe Standard
    Camera Standard
    Camera Faithful
    Camera Landscape
    Camera Neutral
    Camera Portrait
Why does the Nikon NRW raw file only have Matrix as a Camera Profile
while the Canon CR2 raw file has 6 different Camera Profiles?
    Thanks in advance.

I reported the lack of Adobe Standard or any other Camera profiles for the P7800, 3 months ago and nothing changed with the final release of ACR 8.4 or LR 5.4, but perhaps by that time, new-camera support for ACR 8.4 and LR 5.4 had already been determined, but if it's not in ACR 8.5/LR 5.5 then someone has dropped the ball:

  • NRW-files in PSE 7

    Hello,
Bought a new Nikon camera: Nikon Coolpix P7700. Try to open this NRW (RAW)-files in PSE7 and PSE10.
In vain: Got the following message: (Translated from Dutch in English: Cannot open this ...NRW-file because of a wrong file type).
    I downloaded RAW-type 8B1. NEF-files from my D300 work well.
    NRW-files open normally in Lightroom.
    Adobe DNG-converter doesn't regognize the NRW-files.
    Can anyone help me out?
    (Work with Windows 7 prof.)

    Good day!
This Forum is not dedicated to Photoshop Elements, but Photoshop.
    You may want to try

    Adobe DNG-converter doesn't regognize the NRW-files.
If Lightroom can process the files but DNG-Converter can’t are you sure the latter is up-to-date?

  • Nrw files look greenish on my Mac Mini

I just bought a Nikon Coolpix P7100. When I connect my camera to my Mac and watcht the foto's (nrw format) some of them are greenish. When I import the nrw files to my Mac, they still look greenish. So basically these pictures are worthless. When I put my memorycard in my ipad, the pictures look fine. I tried using Nikon transfer but this did not help in any way.
Can anyone help me to solve this issue? I found something about Aperture previews of nrw files looking greenish but ny problems goes a bit further than that. My pictures look greenish just when I read the memory card from my Mac.

Maybe this will help. If you monitor the "More Like This" box (top right), other threads appear. Opening them usually displays other threads.

  • C2-02 camera issues - .nrw files not converting to...

I've found that sometimes after taking a picture, the initial .nrw file doesn't automatically convert into a jpeg. Although the .nrw files can be viewed on the phone, they can't be editied, nor can I find any apps for my computer which will open them. Also, the .nrw files are not recognised by websites I've tried to upload them to (Picasa, Facebook etc).
Has anyone else come across this problem or found a solution?

well there is a creepy way to take photos and WAIT THE HELL till the kindness of that cam to make a decision atleast to try save as jpg....
