Nintendo Wii with Linksys WRTG54GS Speedbooster router

does the nintendo wii have good connection when connecting to the WRTG54GS Speedbooster router? thank you.

My WRT54GS works fine as long as I have WEP turned off. As soon as I try any security on the wireless the connection is lost.

  • Connecting Nintendo Wii - 802.11n AEBS - Broadband Router aint worken?

Hey guys, Ive just bought a new Nintendo Wii which is working a charm, but i cant seam to be able to get it to connect to my wireless network, (my new iPod Touch is also having the same problems (works fine on all networks other than home).
Essentially I've got my broadband modem plugged into a router upstairs and my AirPort Extreme (802.11n) plugged into the aforementioned router upstairs (for some reason AirPort Extreme wouldn't recognize plugging the broadband router straight in rather than through another router) so my setup is:
Broadband Modem -> Wired Router -> AirPort Wireless -> Wii
I think the fact that i have my internet connection coming from another router (whose settings i cant change cause I've forgotten the routers password) and then plugged into my AirPort is whats causing all my troubles??? So ideally if anyones got any suggestions why my AirPort wont accept direct connection from my broadband router i think that might do the trick but making my current setup work for the Wii would be cool.
This is really causing me allot of troubles with heaps of devices so any help is welcome!
    Thanks in advance!

Hello kungfuelmosan. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
I suggest that you try connecting the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) directly to the broadband modem again, but this time make sure to allow enough time for a complete power recycle of the network components when doing so as follows ...
Try the following, in order, until resolved:
    1. If the modem has a reset switch, use it to reset the modem. Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the modem to initialize.
    2. Remove power from the modem. If it has a backup battery, remove this as well. Wait 5-10 minutes. Replace the battery, and add power back to the modem.
    3. Perform a complete power recycle of your network components as follows:
    Modem/Router Power Recycling - Quick
    o Power-off the modem, AEBSn, & computer(s); Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the modem; Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBSn; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
If this fails to get the modem to "recognize" the Internet router, then try the "Full" version.
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling - Full
o Power-off the modem, AEBSn, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
o Power-on the modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBSn; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
    4. Contact your ISP to have them perform a "modem reset."

  • Westell 6100G in bridge mode with Linksys BFSR41 wired router

I have had a long go-round with V tech support over slow DSL speeds since March 2011. They sent me the Westell 6100G to replace an ancient Westell that had provided satisfactory service for many years, connected through my LInksys BFSR41.
Initially, I connected the Westell directly to a PC and did not see any improvement in speed (always around 1.3M since March). So I re-connected it in bridge mode with the LInksys. Slow speeds continued, plus periodic hiccups, where the connection would simply not exist, although the lights were all good and the LInksys said "connected. Cure was to wait or power down modem and router. The following week a V tech called and said they had made changes to the network and fixed a problem with my line.
Thereafter I did  see a vast improvement in speed as tested by Speedtest.net and Speakeasy.com (usually 2.8 M or thereabouts). But I still had the "hiccups". Now you see it, now you don't.
V tech support said, "connect the Westell directly". This indeed solved all intermittance problems. But I need the router  and I need it to do the DHCP addressing dynamically as I frequently swap out machines. FYI this is a PPOe connection.
I hope someone on the forum can help me before I spend anther 2 hours in voicemail limbo.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well, my heat/humidity solution helped, but has not solved my problem. My connection still disappears at unpredictable, though less frequent intervals.  Any and all ideas willl be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Persistent problems with Linksys WRT54GS Wireless Router

I'm currently running Vista with a Linksys WRT54GS router. As earlier discussed in this forum I am still having intermittent problems with the ATV taking down my network. Anyone else experienced this and come up with a sure fire fix?
When it's working I like the set up but I have to say, it is not nearly stable enough to be an everyday solution for getting my music and photos to my living room.
    Thanks.

Hi, I am having the same problem -- my 2WIRE modem from AT&T recently blew up. So, I purchased the WRT54GS. As soon as I reconnected the AppleTV to the new router via a wireless connection, all of my machines (Mac and PC) lost their internet connections. I'm seriously considering going out and getting another 2WIRE.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless Networking with LINKSYS WRT54GS wireless router

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless printer conneted via WiFi to my LYNKSYS WRT54GS wireless router.  I do not have a USB cable or ethernet cable plugged to the printer.  I am able to use the 'scan to email button' and the 'scan to network folder' button on the front of the printer and I can pint from the PC to the printer with no problems.
I installed the HP printer software from the CD, choosing network/wireless connection, without having to install any USB cables from the PC to the printer in the process.  many posts in the forum mention having to connect USB cables in the wireless installation process.
Can I install the software in the same fashion on the other two laptops? Or, do I need to do something differently?

The USB cable is used on those printers which do not have display or front panel wireless setup is not possible. We configure the wireless settings during install and save those settings in printer's memory by transferring through USB cable. Therefore the USB is plugged in during wireless installation temporarily. In your case I don't think plugging in USB cable is necessary as the printer is already on network and had IP address. Connect the laptops on wireless network and proceed with regular install, the printer should be detected automatically.

    Hi
I cant seem to get any connection in "N" mode , only in G (54mbs).. everything else seems to work fine, firmware on both devices is new (Linksys is 1.09)
    more famous "N' compatibility probs?
    anyone got any tips?

Your ISP isn't delivering N speeds in any case so at this point there is no need for it unless you constantly transfer files over a network and can't wait.
This is a fairly short-sighted statement. What about those users who do have internet connections fast enough to max out G? Remember, G realistically caps out at about 25mbit/sec which while still limited to certain regions in the US are not unusual abroad and are spreading here. I have a 10mbit cable line myself, if I'm maxing that out it's taking a significant chunk of my wireless speed which affects other wireless devices in my apartment as well.
Also, more and more of us are doing things over wireless that need higher speeds. Syncing my AppleTV, Time Machine, etc. How about those who have Macbook Airs without the USB superdrive or those who just don't want to carry around a disk dongle?
I know most people aren't as insane as me about their network usage (I have a gigabit switch under my couch so I can plug in when surfing in front of the TV) but with the rich media environment and heavy network usage promoted by some of Apple's own devices, it's not unreasonable to say that a number of non-technical users have similar usage patterns.

  • Problem with Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless Router

My ipod sees the linksys wireless connection, it has a lock icon but doesn't ask for the Shared Key i have the security set to WAP, why is this?

Welcome to the Linlsys Forums, please follow the steps below to gain access to your Wireless Network.
    Step 1
     Tap on the "Settings" icon.
    Step 2
     Select "WiFi" from the menu.
    Step 3
Slide the "WiFi" tab to the "On" position.
    Step 4
A selection of wireless networks will appear below. If the network has a lock icon next to it, then you will need the password for that network in order access it. If there is no lock icon, then that connection is public, and you will be able to access it.
    Step 5
Click on the network that you want to access, and the ipod will connect to that network whenever you are in its range. Remember that a password might be needed to gain access to that network.
Note: If you are sure that you are within a wireless network range, but do not see it when you access the WiFi menu, you can manually enter the access information by clicking on the "Other" tab.
Have a nice day and I hope this helped.

  • Wireless Router WRT310N/Nintendo Wii

The issue here for me is I'm trying to get my Nintendo Wii connected to my wireless router. I cannot do so without getting the passkey to my router...or at least that's what the customer service rep. says from Nintendo. There is no self help in the Linksys website so I figured I would try this.
Also in order for myself to get the passkey the rep. said I would need to login to the router's settings. It's a wireless router and has not direct connection to my computer really and had no set-up utilities that I can find on my computer. What do I do?

    Hello Sir,
In such a case, you will do require to connect either One of the Pc to the router using a cable....open up Internet Explorer and in the address bar type in the web-site.. http://192.168.1.1 (default)..It will ask you for the username and password...the default password is "admin" and nothing in the password...
Once on the ui of the router...on top you will locate a tab for wireless...click on it...and right below it you will find wireless security...click on it....and that's where you will find the wep key that you are looking for..
Revert Back  if you face any Issues...
    Thanx

  • WRT110 with Nintendo Wii

I have the Linksys WRT110 wireless N router, and I cannot seem to connect my Nintendo Wii to the internet through the router.  When I search for my access point, my router does not pop up...I can see neighbors' connections but not mine.  I am able to find my router with my desktop, various laptops, and wifi phones/ipods so it is only a problem connecting to the Wii.  I have searched a little bit tonight online, and other people have had the same problem with this router; however, I was not able to find anyone posting solutions to the problem.  Thus, I am wondering if anyone here has this same router and has found a solution in connecting the Wii?

The Wii is wireless B and G mode capable, so be sure your router is not set for wireless N only.  Your router is set to mixed mode by default, so that might not be your issue.
I've read that the Wii sometimes has problems detecting networks running in certain modes.  You might want to experiment by temporarily setting your router to wireless B or G only.
You might also need to consider updating your routers firmware if you don't already have the latest version.

  • Need Help with Linksys router broadband-b

I have a Linksys wireless-B broadband router for some reason it just went crazy on me. My wireless card is a wireless - G . Now when i had Verizon DSL  i  got this router and a USB  wireless adaptor from verizon. I had the usb adaptor on my wife computer and the router and modem  on my notebook for six months we had there dsl service until we moved  to a nother city. Once we  had all of our service's transfered  to the new home  we could not get verizon DSL there.
So for a nother six months we had to use  dial up and being that we run a home business dial up was just not up to the task. Well we got rid of dish network  just to get cable T.V. just to get the cable broadband service. That's when i got a wireless card for my notebook anyway  for six months the network was working  just fine with the router and my wireless card.
Until  Sept  this year just a few weeks ago the router started going crazy. Before my note book was config for windows to connect  linksys was connecting  and i would see all conection in the site survey,  and my own network  also. Until a few weeks a go  my network would not show .
So i call linksys the have me download   some up dated firmware that would not install on my notebook or my wife computer after being on the phone for hours with linksys they come to tell me that  the router is ok and working alright after all the test   and steps they took me through with the router. Linksys tells me that there is something wrong with my PCM slot  on my notebook or either  my linksys wireless card. Ok  First of all i can pick up signal  on other networks  and go on line like the Hilton  Hotel  when i go in there parking lot, Second  i can pick up othr networks and get on line that are not secured  sometimes  so this tells me that there is Nothing wrong with my PCMI slot or the wireless card.
Now i took my router across the street to a friend house and guess what he gets a signal  off the router with his notebook  but i can not and when we plug the router in the AC outlet  the internet light was flashing like crazy and my wireless card was not even in my notebook so that tells me that someone close was pulling signal off my router  but i cant.
Can someone please explain this to me  i want to get another router wireless - G this time but if there is something that can be done to get this one working like it should that would really help.
The Notebook has been checked out and config  and that works well when i hook the either net plug in from the modem  the  router was config as well but i just can't get a connected to the router when i use the wireless card.

Yes press and hold the reset button in back for 30 seconds and release.  Wait 10 seconds and power cycle the router.  Now connect to 192.168.1.1 username blank, password 'admin'.  Now try.

  • Sharing internet connection with powerbook and nintendo wii through airport

i have been trying to share my internet connection from my imac to my powerbook and nintendo wii. i've been unable to accomplish neither. i've opened the sharing preferences, chosen "share your connection from built in ethernet" which is how my imac is connected to the internet, and then chosen "to computers using airport". if i then set my airport options to automatic channel, encryption using 40 bit wep and set a 5 character password as it says if you "plan to share your internet connection with non-apple computers", (and then turn internet sharing on) shouldn't i be able to connect either/both my powerbook and my nintendo wii? or is it necessary to have some other piece of hardware or go through some other steps?
thanks in advance for any help.

I got a macbook for college and I had the same problem with connecting my Wii to the macbook's connection. But lo and behold, the internet's a wonderful place! I tried this out (http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20070514152251515) and it worked! I'm not sure about the powerbook bit though, sorry. Hope it works for you too.

  • Laserwriter Pro 630 with Linksys Router. Do I need a driver?

I have a two Powerbook G4s and a Linksys Wireless G router. I want to use the Laserwriter Pro 630 wirelessly through the router. How do I do this?
I first tried by connecting this printer via ethernet cable directly from my laptop to the printer. The printer has a Farallon ethernet adapter. The computer could not find the printer.
Do I need a driver for this printer?
    -Luis
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

To be able to use the printer connected directly to the PowerBook you may need to use a crossover cable if you have an older PowerBook. The driver is built into OS X. Also you need to make sure that AppleTalk is turned on for the ethernet port. See http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=339353&tstart=0 for details.
To try and set it up wirelessly you will need to switch AppleTalk to Airport and go through the same setup as above. You may not be able to print wirelessly as a lot of routers do not work with AppleTalk. Another possibility is to get a parallel print server, which uses TCP/IP.

  • Can I use a Linksys EA 6900 router with Time Machine to do backup?

Hello, I have a Linksys EA 6900 router.  I plugged in my WD Passport (formatted in Apple Mac format) 1 GB drive into the USB port and I can see it on the network, browse it etc no problem, but when I try to back up to it using Time Machine, it does not find it.
    Please help, thanks!!

Backing up that way is not supported by Apple. There are tricks you can use to make it work, but you don't know if your backup will be of any use when you need it. Many people have found that using unsupported methods with Time Machine results in failure to restore when they need it.

  • Air card on Imac. Set up & share internet wirelessly with  Nintendo Wii.

I have tried to set up without success, connecting my iMac,s air card internet connection with a new Nintendo Wii. I have at one point got the Wii to recognize some connection signal (name of my iMac) but no through connection to internet with air card online.
Unfortunately, I have changed several settings on my iMac in the bluetooth and airport setups so it is not at the same starting point as original.
FYI I have an airport extreme also, which has never been utilized but is a recognized network on my MAC.

Your AirPort Extreme should be connected to the internet via the modem or whatever your ISP provides. The Mac and Wii connect to the AirPort, either wirelessly or via ethernet cables. When set up this way, your Mac will have nothing to do with connecting your Wii to the internet.
I hope this video will help:
