Nipalsm.exe using up 50% of CPU time
Hello Everyone:
I'm having a problem using labview 8.6 on a Dell Dual core E6500 labtop. The computer started acting very sluggish and I've noticed that even when labview is not running, the Nipalsm.exe is using up 50% of the CPU time. I've tried reinstalling labview but it hasn't work. I went back and checked an older computer running labview 7.1 and on that computer nipalsm.exe is using at most 1%.
Best Regards,
Mark
This isn't LV related, but some driver stuff (DAQ, DAQmx, DMM, ....). So try reinstalling those. Maybe you could also get a diffrent version (older ones by supplied CDs, newer ones by download from NI).
If you have any support contract (and that should be if you recently bought that hardware), phone your NI rep, as it might be beyond the scope of the community to solve these issues.

Firefox is a very busy piece of software. It's using large amounts of CPU time and disk access. It puts my usage at low priority, so I have to wait for some time to be able to use my pointer or keyboard. I don't know what it uses all that CPU and disk access time for, but it's of no use to me. It often takes off with massive use of resources when I'm not doing anything, and I may not have use of my pointer for several minutes. How can I shut down most of this so I can use the browser to get my work done. I just want to use the web site access part of the software, and drop all the extra. I don't want Firefox to be able to recover after a crash. I just want to browse with a minimum of interference from Firefox. I would think that this is the most commonly asked question.

After an attempt to close the Mozilla Firefox page, on every occasion, the firefox.exe process is found at the top of the list when ordering the listed 'processes' by CPU time... even though the web page is gone.
If an attempt is made to restart Mozilla, the system declares that the current Mozilla process should be closed.
If the firefox.exe process is explicitly closed in the Task Manager, only then can Firefox be restarted.Does that also happen if you use File > Exit Firefox?

Xorg using 5-40% of CPU time all the time
After upgrade of kernel to 2.6.27.7-1, the xorg daemon uses 5% of cpu usage doing nothing and up about to 40% on basic usage of firefox. My cpu is a Core2Duo 2.2GHz. I try instaling new versions of xorg and nvidia but the problem persists. Any ideas? My xorg.conf:

Sockd process uses a lot of CPU time
Hi,
I'm running the Sun Java System Web Proxy Server version 4.02 on a SunFire V210 dual processor box running Solaris 10 with the default socks5.conf for testing.
Just browsing a few web pages in Firefox or IE using the socks proxy boosts CPU usage from the sockd process to a staggering 50% and stay there for several minutes.
Comparing with the old NEC reference Socks5 daemon the Sun version is really performing badly.
The system is pretty standard though I have tuned /etc/system and the tcp stack using recommendations in the proxy administration manual. All Solaris 10 patches are installed.
prstat output:
PID USERNAME SIZE RSS STATE PRI NICE TIME CPU PROCESS/NLWP
24519 proxy 6664K 4384K cpu1 0 10 0:11:18 50% sockd/43Any ideas what's wrong or do I have to stick with the old NEC reference daemon?

Tnsping.exe using 90% of my CPU time . HOW TO SOLVE IT?
Hi,
While im runnning my application which is using Oracle 10.1 release database(OS Windows XP) tnsping.exe is using 90% of CPU Shocked (while i check in Task Manager). Please help me to resolve this problem.
With Regards
SUVIN PRATHAB
www.sceneworks.co.ccSorry,
Assuming 'processing a check' is considered to constitute a transaction, and Oracle can measure transaction time (which it can), why would employees need to enter this?
That doesn't make any sense.
Also, you need to check with the original developers why tnsping is called and, above all, where tnsping is called.
This call should be removed, and the tnsping process should be stopped.
Running tnsping continually doesn't make any sense.
However, you can not solve the problem. The application vendor should be called into action, and your client should replace the application asap.

DSC software using 100 percent of CPU time.
nicitidl5.exe running even after shutdown.
Hello,
What versions of LabVIEW and DSC are you running?
Are you seeing this behavior on multiple computers?
Do you see the cpu problem only when (and after) there's an application running? If so, what kind of tags do you have in your application?
Do you get any errors while shutting down the application/computer? If so, what are the exact error messages?
Please respond to the questions above and feel free to add any other details regarding the problem.

Tab controls eating up CPU time
A coworker created the section of code in the attached example to change the colors of each tab page in a tab control. Originally, he had this portion of code inside a while loop. We found that as the application ran it would use more and more CPU time until the CPU load was at 100% (it would start around 1-2%); the time for the increase was a few minutes. Moving this code outside of the while loop completely fixed this problem.
Question: why would setting a tab control color in a while loop cause this increase?
Platform: LabVIEW 6.1 on Windows 2000.
Attachments:
LV_Tab_control.gif 4 KBThis behavior is caused by the repeated creation of page references inside the loop. When you move the Page property node outside the loop you don't see this memory leek.
The reason for this is that each time the loop executes the property node creates a new set of references. Since these references are always the same, it is best to have this code outside the loop and only get the page references once.

This behavior became apparent after the last couple of Firefox version updates. Current Firefox version is 21.0. My PC is an IBM ThinkCentre running @ 3.0 Ghz Intel CPU with 1.5 Gigs PC3200 DDR ram. With or without any other Windows apps open, whether I'm on line just idling on my home page (Google) or any other web page or entering / receiving data, several minutes into a session, the MS XP pro SP3 task manager shows Firefox cyclically using 50% (and more) CPU resources for 8-10 seconds then 1-5% CPU resources for 1-2 seconds. Closing & restarting Firefox, allows me a few minutes of speedy surfing. My ISP is AT&T 2nd tier DSL with a download thruput of 300 (+) MB (not Mb) / second (altho, most of the time I'm just viewing a web page or idling, without downloading or uploading any data).
What has changed? My PC & all of its software have remained the same with the exception of MS security updates, Adobe Reader updates, & Firefox updates (without adding any additional plug ins, add ons, etc., with each update).
What the...! For the past several minutes that I've been inputting data here, the task manager showed a jump of only 13% cpu usage (ever so briefly) by Firefox & only then when I switched between the task manager & Firefox. Intermittent anomalies are gonna be the death of me...
Well, this is an annoyance, albeit an intermittent one. Ah, I pine for the days when I heard about & believed in "seamless integration"...any thots that might help resolve this issue sure would be appreciated.Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Apple mobile device service uses too much cpu time, from 88% to 99% of the CPU time.
The best way to fix this is to completely remove all aspects of iTunes then reinstall. Step by step directions are on this article. Good luck

Premiere cc & media encoder update and it doesn't use anymore 100% of cpu, why?
hi
i don't like always to update programs
but yesterday i update premiere to version 7.2.2 and adobe media encoder and others , in short i updated everything
well i started to render a video and i noticed that adobe media encoder (during the rendering) did not use all my cpu
in the prev , i used the 90% of my cpu
my cpu it's the last intel 4 core (8 vitual) 4Ghz
but the new verstion uses not more then 50% , don't know how much gpu does it use , can't find a program to monitor under w8.1 pro 64bit
what's wrong?
is there a way (option) to let media encoder to use all my 100% cpu?
is there a way to check how much gpu does it use?
thanksHi Thomas,
Thanks for your reply.
It doesn't appear to be the problem though. The encode I have running at the moment has been going for the last 13 hours and in the last two hasn't once got any further along!
Current elapsed time for a 30 minute film going to MPG2 is 13 hours and 18 minutes! Seems a touch excessive for just muxing!
Any other ideas? Would be really grateful for any advice as Adobe Media Encoder is becoming very unreliable and I have tonnes of encoding to do!
Many thanks -
I've tried restarting my computer, the I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, then uninstalling, erasing all firefox files and folders, then restarting and reinstalling. I've also tried opening the profile manager to change my profile. After reinstalling a few times and trying to open the profile manager before launching firef0x, I got the firefox has crashed window and the process in the task manager is still using 50% of my cpu. The most recent expunge then re-download pops up a "file is corrupt" error and won't even install the program.
Kill those processes that you are seeing, including any plugincontainer.exe, only once firefox has stopped running should you try to update it.
Totally unexpected instances of firefox running may sometimes be the result of malware activity. -

Firefox use 100% of one CPU (Mac)
I use last firefox (32) on MacOS X 10.6.8.
Sometime firefox start using 100% a one CPU, from that time the only way to stop it was to quit (it take severals seconds, sometime it hang). When it start i can close all windows, firefox continue using 100% CPU.
I follow standard instructions (update to lastest, disable plugins and extensions...) it do not work.
I not a configuration to reproduce the problem : keep iCloud mail open in one tab is the way to reproduce the problem sometime after a few minutes, sometime after some hours : but it also happend sometime with no iCloud open...
