NIPING LOG File in IFS with CCSID(500) not readable in Windows Explorer

Hi together,
if we made logfiles with NIPING logfiles or saprouter logfiles, this logfiles will be created in IFS with CCSID(500).
How can I read this files with Windows Explorer?
Because all CCSID(500) files looks like jam, when we open that files.
best regards,
Carsten Schulz

Hi Carsten,
do you use a binary share when accessing the file from a Window PC, or did you configure text conversion? In the System i Navigator, you open the Propertis of the share in question and check the "Text Conversion" tab. If you enable text conversion, you can also limit that to certain file extensions. Make sure the log files that you are viewing use one of the extensions that is specified here, or that you have specified * for the extensions to convert.
If that does not help, there may be a mismatch between the CCSID tagging on the file and the contents in the file. This will be shown if you look at the file through WRKLNK option 5 (DSPF).
Kind regards,
Christian Bartels.

Do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.

  • DATE fields and LOG files  in context with external tables

I am facing two problems when dealing with the external tables feature in Oracle 9i.
I created an External Table with some fileds with the DATE data type . There were no issues during the creation part. But when i query the table, the DATE fields are not properly selected though the data is there in the files. Is there any ideas to deal with this ?
My next question is regarding the log files. The contents in the log file seems to be growing when querying the external tables. Is there a way to control this behaviour?
Suggestions / Advices on the above two issues are welcome.
    Thanks
    Lakshminarayanan

    Hi
If you have date datatypes than:
    select
    greatest(TABCASER1.CASERRECIEVEDDATE, EVCASERS.FINALEVDATES, EVCASERS.PUBLICATIONDATE, EVCASERS.PUBLICATIONDATE, TABCASER.COMPAREACCEPDATE)
    from TABCASER, TABCASER1, EVCASERS
where ...-- join and other conditions
    1. greatest is good enough
    2. to_date creates date dataype from string with the format of format string ('mm/dd/yyyy')
    3. decode(a, b, c, d) is a function: if a = b than return c else d. NULL means that there is no data in the cell of the table.
    6. to format the date for display use to_char function with format modell as in the to_date function.

  • Log file sync waits with null sql_ids

    10.2.0.3
I am querying V$ACTIVE_SESSION_HISTORY to drill into log file sync waits.
    select sql_id,sum(time_waited)
    from v$active_session_history
    where sample_time > sysdate - 1/24
    group by sql_id
    order by 2 desc
All of my top sessions for this have null sql_ids. I did some google searches and these are the answers that I found have null sql_ids. There are some other sessions where the sql_id is not null, but they are not anywhere near the top.
    1. could be running pl/sql. yeah ok. but I would need to run 'dml' and issue a commit for this event to fire).
    2. no sql is running. does this mean the insert finished and then I am waiting on the 'commit' part?
I want to track these sqls down so I can track them back to the application. I want to get the developers to limit their commit frequency and use batch (array based) DML. How do I track this down?
Also, is there anyway to figure out how often different users are committing? I want to track back to the worst offenders. Could be some parts of the application are commit periodically and others are  not, but log file sync's could slow down everyone.

  • Auto remove of log files on the client-side is not working

    Hi,
I have a setup for one-to-one client/server replication database. Everything is replicated ok.
But on the client side, I see the log.00000000xx files are not removing at all,
while the server has only 2 last log.00000000xx files left. But if I switch the role of the client/server,
the newly server will eventually removed the unused log.00000000xx file, and have two last log file left.
Both client and server database environment setup has called dbenvp->log_set_config(dbenvp, DB_LOG_AUTO_REMOVE, 1).
Is there any additional setting for the client-side to auto remove the unused log files?
    Thanks,
    Sandra

    Hi.
First, what version are you running? We created a test to confirm that this feature is
working as expected on both a master and a client site. What flags do you have set
for replication? I think we need to have you run with replication verbose messages
set on the client site and possibly other diagnostics in order to determine what is different
about your setup. We should take that level offline. Verbose messages can generate
    a large amount of output.
You can contact me at the typical [email protected] and we'll move it
    forward that way. Thanks.

  • How to change the log file path in BEA tuxedo 6.5 client in Windows xp

    Hi,
I am using BEA Tuxedo 6.5 client in windows xp.
The log files are created in C:
Kindly help me in changing the log file path and also i want to know where these configurations are set.
    Advance thanks !!!
    Regards
    Bunsim

    Hi Bunsim,
ULOGPFX is an environment variable. Your client executable can set an environment variable as part of a startup script,
it can be included in a file used by the client that is defined with WSENVFILE environment variable, it can be read in
a file by the client executable after startup using the tuxreadenv() API, it can be set by the client using the tuxputenv() API,
the profile for the user executing the client can have an environment variable defined, or the windows registry can include
a definition for the environment variable(there is also an BEA applet on Windows for administration but I think not on client only installs).
WSNADDR is an environment variable that defines the address of the workstation listener that the client will connect to.
Look for where your client defines WSNADDR and add, or modify, the ULOGPFX definition to meet your needs.
    Regards,
    Bob

  • Log file consumed all drive space; will not commit after adding space

SQL 2008 - Have a drive that is 250GB that holds both the database and log files for a given database; nothing else is on the drive.  The database file is ~2GB in size and the log file is ~248GB, filling up the entire drive.  I have had
issues in the past where there was not enough free space for the data in the log files to commit to the database file.  Since this is a virtual machine I increased the drive to 550GB to give it enough overhead to commit data, and restarted SQL.
The log file data still did not commit.  I took a full backup and also tried to shrink the database.  Now the database file is ~1GB and the log has grown to ~286GB.  Please advise and note I am a systems administrator and not a DBA by trade.

    Hi,
I am quite sure your database recovery model is full and you have not taken Transaction log backup, Have you ?
I also doubt you have enough space to take log backup. If you can please take log backup, may be twice to truncate logs and then shrink log file. Only transaction log backup truncates the log ( almost every time unless some long running transaction
is holding the log) and makes it reusable so that either it can be shrinked or reused.
If it is UAT you can change recovery model of database to simple and then shrink the logs. After that change recovery model to full and take full backup of database.
PS: Schedule regular log backup for your databases in full recovery model

  • How to open .ogg files while browsing with a player not firefox

when selecting an .ogg link firefox opens the file in the current browser window. how can i associate this file type with a player of my choice instead. i have made this association in windows but no luck with firefox.
    txs

Which application opens the file if you double-click such a file in Windows Explorer?
If the default program is Word then Firefox should offer that application as the default.
In the case of an attachment then it may not be likely that the file is send with the correct MIME type for a doc or docx file, but possibly a generic type like "application/octet-stream" that will make Firefox want to save the file.

  • File download prompt appears in "Do not close" IE9 window

Forgive me for my lack of Oracle terms because I am not with our Oracle support team.  I am with the general support team.
We are on E-business 11i  We recently upgraded to IE9 and Java 7 update 45. It seems now when users try to export or download a file from a screen the save prompt appears as the typical save bar at the bottom of the IE9 window that is in the background that says "Do not close this window".   This is very confusing to the users.
Is there some settings in IE9 that are causing the prompts to go to that window that no one looks at?
