NiRFSA_ReadPowerSpectrumF64 function call in TestStand 4.5.1 cause system error

I am using TestStand with niRFSA.dll to call the function niRFSA_ReadPowerSpectrumF64. This function will make the NI RFSA takes a spectrum sweep and return an array of amplitudes, as well as a structure that contains the frequencies information. My teststand sequence file is attached. The sequence editor will execute this function call, and actually retrieve correct data from the RFSA, I can see all the data in the Locals variables. The data are correct. However, the sequence editor also throws out system error, with no further details.
See the error window also attached.
Once in a while, the sequence editor will work just fine, executing the same function call without throwing out error, this is less than 10% of the time.
I am using this on Windows 7.
Let me know if you have any insight.

Hi Doug:
Yes this is what I suspected also. Since the container type was a TS custom type I created to accept the C struct from the instrument. But when the data come back from the dll is a C struct, and there lays the conflict, I think its the packaging layer semantics have some conflict, even though each of the element in the C struct matches the TS type definitions, as I received all that data correctly in TS.
Thanks,

  • "R6025 -pure virtual function call" Error While Use Adobe Media Encoder

    I'm trying to use Adobe Media Encoder (CS3) to output a project to H.264. I have about 3 minutes of footage on the Premier Pro CS3 Timeline, all of it in Cineform AVI intermediate format. When I export the movie through AME and select 2-pass VBR, it gets through the first pass, but crashes at 50% on the second pass with the error:
    "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error!
    Program E:\Progra...
    R6025
    -pure virtual function call"
    Any ideas what may be causing this error?

    Point taken...
    I'm on a Dell XPS 720 Windows XP (32-bit) system, with all up-to-date service packs and patches. I have 4GB RAM installed, and Production Premium CS3, TMPGEncXPress and Cineform's Neo Scene. Neo Scene is a recent addition and the problem existed prior to its installation. I have two 7900GS graphics cards (each with 256MB video RAM), running in SLI mode.
    I dual boot Windows XP: One system is "Messy" with all kinds of stuff installed. The other is "Clean" and has virtually nothing installed, except for the three suites previously mentioned. No anti-virus or anti-spyware software is installed on the Clean system. I get the error on both systems.
    I saw the post from September 2007 reference vcredist_x86. I'll be trying that at my next opportunity, however, I'm not sure that will fix it, as I don't see why both systems would suffer from the same corruption. I'll also be swapping out RAM to see if that fixes the issue.

    There is an error in your tld:

    That missing letter 'n' is apparently quite important.

  • How to get parameter information on DLL function call (CVI) in TestStand?

    Hi,
     I wrote a simple Instrument Driver in CVI, and it has 3 parameters Voltage, Current, Channel.
    I made a DLL in order to call this function in TestStand as an action.
    That works fine, the only problem I have is that it shows my function as DC_Conf (arg1, arg2, arg 3) and I only get the type information like double double int.
    I do not get the parameter names Voltage, Current, Channel...
    How can I get this information to be displayed in TestStand so I know which parameter arg 1-3 is Voltage,Current,Channel in case I forgot?
    or
    Is there a way to display the help text of the driver in TestStand?
    I tried clicking on the (?) button next to the function call but it did not do anything...
    My TestStand is version 4.1
    Thanks...Ness

    Ness,
    When TestStand populates the parameter information, it does so by looking at the dll's type library.  CVI automatically creates a type library for a dll based on the function's signature, which can include the parameter names.  However, if the function prototype does not contain variable names, then CVI cannot include names in the type library.
    You can define your own type library to directly control the information available to TestStand from your dll.  If you want to define your own type library, you can do so using a .fp file.  This will allow you to use complex data types (such as structs), and to rename your parameters.
    Here's a KnowlegeBase describing the process: Embedding Type Libraries in a LabWindows/CVI DLL for use in TestStand
    Either solution proposed here will work, and they each have tradeoffs:
    You can definte the variable names in the function prototype.  This keeps the functions self-documenting, and is the easiest solution.
    You can create a .fp file and define your own type library.  This allows you the most control over exactly what you will see in TestStand, but requires you to create a new file, and to keep that new file up to date if you make any changes to your source code.

  • Intermittent Runtime error - pure virtual function call

    I have an intermittent runtime error - pure virtual function call & don't know what cause it? Since It only occurs & crashes once awhile therefore it's difficult to trap it for debugging.I suspect it come from TestStand ActiveX API which I use in my User Interface Application project but I'm not really sure.
    Does anyone experience this kind of problem when working with TestStand API ? If so any
    suggestion? I have noticed in the TestStand API header file teapi.tlh contain many raw_.... function defined as pure virtual function. What are these raw_... function ? I don't think I use any of these function in my project.
    Many thanks!

    Danh,
    I don't believe that your problem can be solved with the information you have provided unless someone else has experienced the same symtpoms which coincidentally have the same cause as in your case.
    Is there any other information you can provide that can help localize the problem?
    1) What is happening when the error occurs?
    2) Does the error always occur in the same place?
    3) Does it always occur with use of certain resources (e.g. DAQ, GPIB, VISA, printer)?
    4) Does it occur when using the sequence editor?
    5) Does it occur when using one of the shipping operator interfaces?
    6) Does it occur only when using your operator interfaces?
    7)Is it related to a specific sequence or any sequence?
    8) Does it happen when you executed your sequence with/without a process model entr
    y point (i.e. Execute>>Test UUTs, Execute>>Singal Pass or Execute>>Run MainSequence)?
    9) How often does it happen?
    10) What version of TestStand are you using?
    11) With what language (include versions) are you programming your code modules?
    12) With what language (include versions) are you programming your operator interface?
    13) Is there any error code reported with this error message?
    14) Is this error reported in a TS run-time error dialog or is it reported directly 1by the operating system?
    15) Have you searched the web for related errors? For example, the following link describes a particular programming mistake that can lead to this error
    http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q125/7/49.asp
    By investigating answers to the above questions you may be able to narrow the cause of this error, which might allow you or others to help solve the problem.

  • Problem with 'GetType' Function calling in MSVC++

    Hello
    I have problem with the function in TestStand API .
    When I call the function " GetType " with the following statements in
    a DLL called from TestStand (NI) implemented in MS VC ++
    , it does not work and this exception is caught by the ONLY ' try catch ' block
    to catch exceptions in TestStand API giving the error message
    " Unexpected operating system error".
    VARIANT_BOOL ok;
    VARIANT_BOOL hi;
    BSTR Name;
    PropertyObject *property = (*step_)->AsPropertyObject();
    ( *step_ is a STEP Object of type Step* *step_ )
    property = property->GetPropertyObject( "TS.SData", 0);
    enum TS:ropertyValueTypes i = property->GetType( "" , 0 , &hi , &ok
    , &Name);//Problem
    Please solve my problem.
    You can email me at [email protected]
    Thankyou very much.
    Best regards
    Fahad Ejaz

    Hello,
    The problem is that the Name is not initialized (the BSTR is defined as OLECHAR*). Thus, replace the
    BSTR Name;
    declaration with the following lines:
    char buf[1024];
    BSTR Name = _bstr_t(buf);
    This should solve the problem.

  • HTBasic hanging while doing a GPIB command, Called from TestStand

    I have functions in HTBasic called from TestStand for doing GPIB communications for different test sets. When i run the main sequence, the sequence hangs in a HTBasic step. The step is different every time. Does anybody know about this problem?

    Hi,
    I have some questions.
    Does the HTBasic programs run by themselves?. Or does it only hang when executed in TestStand?.
    What GPIB driver and interface are you using?. What GPIB operations are you performing?. Is there any error message shown?.
    The main idea is to figure out if the error is caused by the GPIB operation or by TestStand.
    Include any information you may consider important.

  • Problem with function "DBConnect" in TestStand/LabWindows

    Hello, good day.
    I'm having some problems with the function DBConnect that I'm using in a personal function inside a DLL.
    I have made a function called GetSensor which I know it works because I have used it and tested it in the LabWindows enviroment.
    His function is return the value of some element in my database according of his input parameter, just that.
    My problem comes out when I tried to use that same function in TestStand, it seems that the DBConnect cannot work as in the same way of when it is used from LabWindows because always show a warning message, which is display only when the values of iHdbc are iHdbc==-11 or  iHdbc==-10.
    The softwares that I'm using are:
    I know TestStand is opening the function from my DLL becasuse it always get in, but did not pass the part when try to connect to the database.
    I think this could be a compatibility issue between LabWindows and TestStand, but I do not find where can I modify some options to fix this problem.
    Thanks in advance. Any help you could give will be welcomed.

    Hi,
    Looking at the code i dont see any issue wrt Teststand interface.
    The variable passed from TestStand to CVI code is not used to connect to DB.
    When you say it works fine with CVI only - did you try to build a  CVI application on the same machine with the same code and try?
    If the CVI application also gives the same error then you need to install a CVI addon SQL toolkit for DB to work.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to call a C function calling a Java Method from another C function ?

    Hi everyone,
    I'm just starting to learn JNI and my problem is that I don't know if it is possible to call a C function calling a Java Method (or doing anything else with JNI) from another C function.
    In fact, after receiving datas in a socket made by a C function, I would like to create a class instance (and I don't know how to do it too ; ) ) and init this instance with the strings I received in the socket.
    Is all that possible ?
    Thank you very much for your help !

    Hard to understand the question, but by most interpretations the answer is going to be yes.
    You do of course understand that JNI is the "API" that sits between Java and C and that every call between the two must go through that. You can't call it directly.

  • Is it possible to get the caller object in a function call hierarchy ?

    Hi,
    I have a problem in hand for adding a new functionality to an existing code with MINIMAL code change. For this I need to get some extra information in a function call from its caller. And for this I do not want to change the signature of the method, as it requires a lot of code change. So I need to have a programming facility by which I can get the object from which the function was invoked. Some thing like "{code}this.CALLEROBJECT{code}".
    Please let me know whether we can achieve this in JAVA. I wonder if such a facility exists in any programming language...
    Thanks in advance.

    No.
    Youd have to buy it Germany or see if an Apple Authrorized reseller in Singapore could order you the keyboard.

    I found the Oracle Bug on my own in the end, in the most unlikely of places !
    The following code
    SELECT   FIELD_ID
           , FIELD_PATH
           , ERRINDEX
           , FIELD_VALUE
      FROM (
               SELECT   a.FIELD_ID
                      , a.FIELD_PATH
                      , CASE
                           WHEN ((b.MIN_STR_LEN IS NOT NULL) AND ((a.FIELD_VALUE IS NULL) OR (LENGTH(a.FIELD_VALUE) < b.MIN_STR_LEN))) THEN 1
                        END AS ERRINDEX_1
                      , CASE
                           WHEN ((b.MAX_STR_LEN IS NOT NULL) AND ((a.FIELD_VALUE IS NULL) OR (LENGTH(a.FIELD_VALUE) > b.MAX_STR_LEN))) THEN 2
                        END AS ERRINDEX_2
                      , CASE
                           WHEN ((b.PATTERNS IS NOT EMPTY) AND ((SELECT COUNT(*) FROM TABLE(b.PATTERNS) WHERE REGEXP_SUBSTR(a.FIELD_VALUE, COLUMN_VALUE) = a.FIELD_VALUE) = 0)) THEN 4
                        END AS ERRINDEX_4
                      , a.FIELD_VALUE
                 FROM            TESTER.PARENT_TABLE a, TESTER.CHILD_TABLE b
                WHERE a.FIELD_PATH = b.FIELD_PATH
              UNPIVOT
                 ERRINDEX
                 FOR COL IN (ERRINDEX_1, ERRINDEX_2, ERRINDEX_4)
           )works as intended i.e. like a charm !
    The only difference between the one that gives the ORA-03113 and the above is the way the join is written. The ANSI way (INNER JOIN) fails, the old way (WHERE clause) succeeds.
    I will open a SR with Oracle so that it may be recorded and fixed.

  • Is it possible to step into a CVI dll when called by TestStand?

    As the question says: "Is it possible to step into a CVI dll when called by TestStand?"
    I am sure Ray F. may have a few tricks up his sleeves...  Hope you see this post, Ray!
    I compiled a dll using CVI.  The dll is called as a test by TestStand.
    I do have an "exe" version of the code that I use for debug with a testbed, but the behaviour is not the same as testing the actual target while running TestStand.  My goal is to get as close as possible to the real events.
    Thanks,
    JLV

    Sorry about that,
    There are two ways as I was saying:
    1. You can configure the CVI adapter to Execute Steps in a External Instance of CVI (requires CVI 6.0 or greater).
    Only go to Configure->Adapters and select the LabWindows CVI adapter and click on configure and select the corresponding option.
    After that set a break point in the step that you want to debug.
    An external instance of CVI will be launched where you can set break points and step into the code.
    2. From CVI Specifying an external process:
    In CVI go to Run Specify External Process and enter the seqEdit.exe as the program name (you have to browse to the location <TestStand>\Bin\SeqEdit.exe).
    As the argument you enter the name of the sequence file you want to debug.
    Now just select Run->Debug SeqEdit.Exe
    The Sequence Edtior will be launched and you can set break point in your CVI code and step into it when the step is executed.
    Check the Using LabWindows/CVI with TestStand reference manual for more information.
    I hope it helps you to get started.
    Regards.

  • Is it possible to pass table name as parameter to function calls?

    Let's say I would like to retrieve data from table BSAD, BSID, BSIS, BSAS with the exact same WHERE conditions.
    I.E.
          SELECT SINGLE * FROM bsis
               WHERE bukrs = zbukrs
                 AND belnr = zbelnr
                 AND gjahr = zgjahr
                 AND buzei = bseg-buzei.
          SELECT SINGLE * FROM bsas
               WHERE bukrs = zbukrs
                 AND belnr = zbelnr
                 AND gjahr = zgjahr
                 AND buzei = bseg-buzei.
    Is there a way that I could put them into a function and do something like?
    perform select_table_bsas using 'bsas'.
    perform select_table_bsis using 'bsis'.
    and I should get SELECT * FROM passed from the function calls.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    You can try something like this
    DATA : LV_DBTAB1 LIKE DD02L-TABNAME.
    DATA : DREF TYPE REF TO DATA.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <ITAB> TYPE ANY TABLE. " used to store dynamic tables
    LV_DBTAB1 = 'MARA'. " in caps
      CREATE DATA DREF TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF (LV_DBTAB1)
                                WITH NON-UNIQUE DEFAULT KEY.
      ASSIGN DREF->* TO <ITAB> .
    * chooses only english values
      SELECT * FROM (LV_DBTAB1) INTO TABLE <ITAB> WHERE SPRAS = 'E'.
    here, even the internal table is dynamic, but that can be static if you know the structure for sure
