C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Vision\Run-Time Engine\vision80rte.exe

  • Design time and Runtime licenses

We are planning to use the Compact RIO for industrial process control and logging of values for furthur analysis.
As we are new to the NI products, would like to know, what kind of licenses will be required for this purpose, like design time and run time licenses. The system end-user is not interested in having a development license at his end.
Is it possible to have only the run-time licenses at the user end?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance...

Obviously you will need the LabVIEW development environment and
according Extensions to develop the software. So this means you will
need the LabVIEW development system and either the RealTime Extension
or the FPGA Extension or both, depending how you will setup your
    applicationon the CompactRIO system.
    For your end user
you would not need any specific runtime licenses as long as you use NI
hardware, since the cRIO controller comes with the necessary runtime
license already for the realtime OS on the controller and the cRIO
backplane comes with the runtime license for the FPGA code.
    LabVIEW
build applications in itself do also not need a seperate runtime
license since the development system license gives you the right to
distriibute your host application with the LabVIEW runtime engine. This
would get different if you use any of the Toolkits such as Vision
Development, Sound and Vibration, Datalogging, Supervisor and Control
or similar which do all have their ownruntime license that needs to be
purchased for every deployed application that makes use of their
    functionality.

  • New free Runtime license for Oracle xe, and more features

This comment is related to the other post, but is different.
Why oracle don't have a free runtime license like Ms Access.
Maybe having more restrictions, allowing several instance at a time.
Having more features to make easier to install for small programs.
Thinking to write an small application I ask my self why an Oracle dba, can't use Oracle as the end database, and I have to use Ms Access.
Maybe the size of the database could be reduced, and not include apex, I think could even block database procedures, but to enable an option, please.
I ask to Oracle, to please think a solution to replace msaccess runtime, etc., making easier the install, desintall, etc. for very very very small databases.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
though I'm not an Oracle representative, I have an opinion on your request I want to share with you.
Oracle Database has some features which by design won't allow easy embedding. Disabling those features isn't really easy and you wouldn't look at just some features less but at a software that behaves differently in wide areas. What would be the advantage to use it?
I don't think you have to use MS Access, though. There are small embeddable databases available, even from Oracle (Oracle Berkeley DB to name one). So why should Oracle re-invent the wheel by downgrading a full-featured database that long that it is embeddable when other projects started to support this by design already?

  • Open cam VI in Main.exe and Vision Acquisition License

    Hi,
I've an application which controls some devices...I've two questions:
    1. I'm building an exe of my main VI. When I run it as exe on other PCs, it doesn't open the subVI (cam_pos_test.vi) (on my PC is everything running ok). The cam subVI is added in the always included VIs, when I build the application. Part of the main level VI looks like this (control/producer loop):
in the red circle is the subVI which opens the Ref to the cam_subVI. It looks like this:
I think: I make some error in the defining the path of the subVI (cam_pos_test.vi). Do you have some idea, what could be wrong? Why the cam_pos_test does not pop-up as it should on the other machines? :-) I've tested the cam_pos_test.vi as exe is running on other PCs.
    2. I've Vision Acquisition License on my PC. Do I need Vision Acquisition License also for the PC where the executable is running (to use a cam)?
    Thanks!
    Angel

    Hi,
I've LabVIEW 2010 Prof. + Vision Acquisition License on my PC (where I write the code). To check: is the problem in the source code or in the executable, I've used an evaluation version of LV2010 on another PC ... as a VI it runs without problems on the lab PC, but as an executable it runs but doesn't open the cam window :-( (everything else is ok)
The code of the cam.VI is attached. I've used only IMAQdx VIs to obtain an image from the cam...
    Thank you for your time,
    Angel

  • Tuxedo 8.1 Runtime License

We are planning to upgrade from Tux 6.5 to Tux 8.1. But I learnt that Tux 8.1 support ends on Feb 2010. So, I wanted to know the impact of having runtime license only.

    Hi,
Tuxedo development licenses allow you to use the Tuxedo tools that are used to build clients and servers. The runtime license only allows you to run previously developed Tuxedo applications that were developed using a development license. So if you are still creating Tuxedo applications or need to rebuild them due to upgrades or changes in the application or environment, you will need a Tuxedo development license. If you are still running your Tuxedo applications in production, you will need a current runtime license.
I would strongly suggest you take this up with your Oracle Sales representative as they will best be able to explain what you need to do to adhere to Oracle's licensing terms.

  • Tuxedo runtime licensing

Hi Friends, I have a question about the Tuxedo runtime licensing.
Does the Tuxedo runtime license can cover the Oracle Tuxedo software? As I know Tuxedo runtime is an add-on product for Oracle Tuxedo. Thank you:)

    Hi Kenny,
I see that you have Tuxedo licenses from BEA. Are you upgrading to Oracle Tuxedo 10.3 or later version from BEA Tuxedo?
Licenses you have cover Oracle Tuxedo as long as use of Tuxedo has not changed. For example, you have BEA Tuxedo Runtime Concurrent User Perpetual license. You can use these licenses with Oracle Tuxedo once you upgrade as long as number of concurrent users do not exceed what you are licensed for.
A SDK developer license is assigned to an individual developer. This individual can use Tuxedo to develop/test Tuxedo applications.
    Hope this helps,
    Deepak

  • Requirement of DSC Runtime License

    Hi
I am having an application developed using DSC8.5.1 which is designed as a server to collect data from Modbus devices and configured for datalogging, alarming, trending.I have purchased one DSC runtime license for running the executable. Now I need to design client application which communicates with the server using datasocket and which has to get the realtime data from server and display and also display the alarm display and historical data from the server.I need to have multiple clients. Can I build the exexutable for client application with this existing run-time license. What features require a dsc-run time license in the client? Please help

    Lenvno,
Unfortunately, LabVIEW 8.6.1 is not officially supported on Windows 7 as I think you know. Most of the Windows 7 testing has been done with LabVIEW 2009 and 2010. However, that does not mean that you can't try to install the DSC run-time engine and use this with your executables, but be aware that this is at your own risk and is not supported by NI. For more information on NI software compatibility with Windows 7, please check out this Developer Zone article.
Thank you for choosing National Instruments.

  • Additional runtime license fees per user in order to use the Java connector

    Hi All,
    I have one question.
Do we require to pay additional runtime license fees per user in order to use the Java connector (Jco) supplied by SAP?
We're currently not using the Jco but are looking into the possibility of using it.
    Thank in Advance.

    Hi All,
    Please answer my question
We need to use Jco to connect to our 4.6C SAP production system. We do not have Portal or any other components. It's just a plain 4.6C system, service pack level is 23.
We are currently paying license fees for using the system on a per user basis.
    Thank You.

  • SQL Runtime License

    Hi All,
If my company purchase the SQL2000 runtime license together with SAP 2005.  If I want to upgrade to SAP 2007 do I need to get the SQL2005 from outside or SAP will provide the SQL2005 runtime?  My understanding is SAP 2007 only compatible to SQL 2005.
    Please advice.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Foong Yee

    Hi Foong Yee,
B1 2007 is also compatible with SQL 2000, if you may have a look at page 9 of the system requirement sheet. (The maintaince is end of life.)
B1 2007 is supported by SQL 2005 and SQL 2008. My suggestion is to upgrade to SQL 2008. There you got a forward-looking solution.
For license question you should ask your SAP partner.

  • Vision Evaluation License - Past Expiration Date

    Hello All;
A word of caution if you are using LabVIEW 8.x with Vision 8.x installed as runtime: If you are using NI Vision in a runtime environment and have elected to use the 30-day evaluation license before purchasing a valid license, this is for you.
The evaluation license version has a few quirks associated with it.  This caused some minor grief for me, and so I am passing it along.  The only way to resolve these issues (that I am aware of) is to purchase and activate a valid license.
    (1) Sometimes the license version will not always initialise correctly.  This has resulted in runtime application that may appear to be buggy.  If you are using the 30-day evaluation license, there is an additional toolbar that pops up, and you will need to select "Evaluate" if you do not have a license.  If this does not pop up, the runtime app may seem to work correctly, but guaranteed it will hang or do something weird.
    (2) When the 30-day trial has expired, do not count on a friendly message stating just that - sometimes you get it, sometimes you don't.  Or it may be that it will show up the first time and that's it.  I've seen both.  Point is, if your runtime program was working fine "x" number of days ago, and no longer is, check the error messages generated.  Chances are, there will be an "invalid IMAQ License" error in there somewhere.
Anyway, as I mentioned, 30-day evalutaion license is great, but it may give you some weird issues.  The solution (and this has resolved all the cases I have come across - not that I'm an expert or anything) is to purchase and activate a valid license.
This caused me a certain amount of grief in the past.  Hopefully it will help someone else out in the future.

Yes, I've got the same too.
The problem was with Vision 7. We have put NIVision.dll and NIVisSvc.dll into installer, but have forgot to call appropriate Runtime installer (or probably old version was installed, and then libraries with new version was overwritten, but not licenced). Anyway, all was good, without any nag screens, but after 30 days license was expired (also without any message). After reinstalling runtime all was OK.
Question for NI - how to get license status programmatically in application?
    best regards

  • Runtime Licensing Question

I apologize if this is not the right forum to ask this kind of question. I have searched the forum about licensing but the only hit I got was related EDW.
For a government agency, we are thinking about using OWB to design our mappings on a 9i development instance and deploying the runtime environment (along with the pl/sql packages generated for these mappings) on multiple schemas on different databases (currently 8.1.7) on different servers.
We would like to know what licenses are needed to allow this model? Is having a 9iDS license good enough, or do we need to buy OWB license separately? What about the runtime scenario?
    best regards,

Thanks a bunch Shauna. Since we already have iDS and enterprise licenses, it sounds like we can deploy these runtimes without any additional cost.
I have also placed calls to other people in our organization to talk with our account manager(s) to avoid any surprises down the road.
    Thanks again for your time.
PS: I think it is great that you folks are constantly monitoring these forums. That's a great service to us. Appreciated!

  • Crystal Report 2008 Runtime License

    Hi,
I have a Crystal Report 2008 designer license.
I want to design reports and distribute to my clients.
Clients will just execute the reports through my application with the Crystal Report 2008 Runtime.
    There is runtime available on:
    https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm
While installing the runtime it does not ask for any license key.
my query is do we require any license to use the Crystal Report 2008 Runtime?
Can we install the same runtime on web servers so that multiple clients can use it.
Do we require any license for the Runtime on server?
    Thanks,
    Abhijit

    Hi Thanks for the reply.
Just to make it sure is that means?
    1. Crystal Report 2008 Runtime is free for the client applications.
    2. Crystal Report 2008 Runtime requires the 'SAP Crystal Reports runtime server license' to use the runtime on server applications.
    Is it correct.
    Thanks,

  • I've build an executable which include Vision Development VI;s. Can I run this exe on another machine wich does not have Vision software without installing some license.

I seem to get an Vision License not active error  on the the machine I'm trying to run it on.
So again. I have two machines. Both have LabView (8.5) One has the Vision Development Software with License/activated.
The second does not. But I would like to build an exe on the first and run it on the second.
Is this possible with requiring a second license?
    Thanks

you need a vision runtime license, they run about 300 USD each  (I am pretty sure the vision kits don't come with any runtime licenses... which seems silly, but eh, it happens)

  • Creating Dll with Vision Library

    Greetings Board Members,
I have a small Application For which i want to make a shared DLL and test them before deploying at other co worker computer, The application uses the Labview Vision, The DLL are made by Building the DLL.
When I use the same dll and call them with labview i get an error code while the VI Modules with which DLL are made are used instead of DLL they are running OK. Can some one throw light on this issue and how it can be solved. The application is simple, Initialze USB Grabber, Snap and save image, Close Grabber. I am getting Error code in snap and save image.
    Regards
    Harjeet

1.What is the error number or describtion you get?
2.Do you know that you will need to have a vision runtime license ($) at the other computers where you want to run the dll?

  • Create fast intenstiy histogram without Vision toolkit

I am trying to create an intensity histogram from an 8bit gray scale image that is being acquired from a USB camera.  Using the drivers that camera that came with the camera I am able to get a 2D array of image data (1021 x 764).  What I am doing is concatenate all the columns in the array to create a 1d array.  I then use the general histogram function that is set to a max of 256, min of 0 and 100 bins.  This approach takes approx. 5 secs. to complete. Attached is my approach.
Is there a better approach that would process much faster?
If I use the Vision functions to convert the image data to an IMAQ image and then using the IMAQ histograph function, it processes almost immediately.  However I do not wish to use the Vision functions because I do not wish to pay for a Vision runtime license for each installation of my application.
    Thanks

This is the simplest way to obtain a histogram.  Is it fast enough?
That will give a 256-bin histogram, but I iust noticed that you want 100 bins for some reason.  The easiest way to do that is to scale your image from 0-255 to 0-99 (multiply by 99/255) and do the same thing, something like this:
