NLS support in JPDK

Hello world !
I've written some portlets in jsp and OC4J (iAS R2). When i try load jsp throught oc4j server i see russian, but when i load the same portlet (i.e. some jsp) in portal environment i see ???????.
What is my problem ?
tnx

Hi Shriram
When i trying view JSP directly in browser, all data in JSP get out of databse in database encoding and i can see it in any encoding set in page tag of jsp page. In Portal environment, in my opinion, there is Portal Provider Framework, which directly influences on encoding character set. There is one difference between simple JSP and JSP in Portal Environment: Provider Framework.
I cannot force Portal to display russian letters correctly.
tnx

  • NLS SUPPORT FOR ORACLE 8I

    I am trying to use the NLS support of Oracle 8i on windows
    Nt/2000 platforms. I have tried configuring the database
    characterset and the national character set as 'IN8ISCII' - the
    one prescribed in the NLS documentation for India territory and
    Hindi as NLS Language and territory parameters. I have also
    tried configuring them as 'UTF8' a character set prescribed for
    unicode /universal 8 bits ASCII character sets but i am not able
    to insert any rows with these charactersets in NCHAR or NVARCHAR
    columns. if i try to insert them in regualr char pr varchar
    columns i can insert in the ascii formats and I have to retreive
    them on front end through different mask format fonts.
    If any one have tried the NLS support pls let me know how to
    insert the records and retreive thenm in the national language..
    Thanks in advance..

  • Bidirectional NLS support in web-enabled forms.

    Is it possible to have bidirectional NLS support in web-enabled forms? That is, can a local user make any settings changes on their workstation that will make (e.g.) Hebrew right-justified for text fields? If this all depends on the environment varible NLS_LANG, then it is set on the AS server and not user-changeable. I know you can change direction programmatically, but it seems odd that it doesn't work automatically. P.S. We are running forms 6i with Application Server 6i on an 8i database. Thanks in advance.

    Frank,
    I am using calendar.pll sent to me by my friend. I will search on OTN if this utility is avaiable on it. If it is there also, then I will download it and test it again.
    Thanks,
    Kiran.
    Vadivelan,
    I am sending simple form and calendar.pll to your mail address. But, remember this works only in windows environment so far. I am finding the solution for Linux/Web.

  • NLS support in 1.1

    Does the NLS support in 1.1 require special configuration?
    If iFS is installed with English as the language, can we still use extended character sets for checkin comments, descriptions, etc.? We get an exception if the object name uses extended characters.

    Does unicode work with Apache/Jserv?
    We set up iFS and the database with unicode
    support and it worked fine with JWS. But when we switched to Apache/Jserv, it is not correctly showing object names with non isolatin1 characters.
    Is there a way to configure Apache/Jserv for UNICODE?

  • Any documents on Oracle J2EE/EJB NLS support

    Hi,
    Do you know where I might find more information about the NLS supporting Oracle EJB/BC4J areas?
    Michael

    Michael,
    Try the Oracle Application Server documentation on OTN at:
    http://otn.oracle.com/documentation/appserver10g.html
    There is a globalization guide for the Oracle Application Server that may have the information you are looking for.

  • Nls support in Portal 3.0.7.6.2 / Win 2000 / 8.1.7 Std.

    After installing nls for norwegian language, I have experienced a lot of problems with our portal installation, like:
    1. Unability to make new Content Areas (Error: 1006991)
    2. Unability to use custom folder types with custom attributs (can't be edited: WWS-32101)
    3. Unability to change Custom Values on Folderbased portlets (ORA-01403: no data found)
    4. Unability to drop app components
    5. Search malfunction (always returns 0 hits)
    6. Portal30 user (from before nls install) has a mix of english and norwegian interface texts, but new users have a (close to) complete norwegian interface.
    7. It's not possible to have an english interface by selecting "english" on the log in screen.
    Oracle Support has not come up with solutions to any of these problem - yet.
    Does anyone know if 3.0.8 will solve any of these problems?
    null

    I think isn't an incorrect installation, because i've the same problems with spanish (with NO-ERRORS langinst).
    1. same problem
    2. don't
    3. same problem
    4. it is a reported bug, you have to connect in english and then you can delete it.
    5. same problem
    6. cache problem, if you select don't cache page on page settings it works well
    7. connection problem, you have to reconnect two times and then it works
    I think that 9iAS Portal is a VERY BUGGY product, it need about six months to have a REAL PRODUCTION version.
    Also i think that Oracle is becoming Microsoft, i mean: bad products released very fast.
    I'm an Oracle developer since much time, i believe that Oracle database is far away from the rest of competitors (8i is a VERY good product), but Oracle 9iAS is shit.
    Thanks

  • NLS Support in Instant Portal

    I have installed Instant Portal. The default site has been created in English. I can translate the sites text to Danish (I live in Denmark). But how do I get the Instant Portal generated text items such as (Home, Logout, Change Profile, Search etc.) translated to Danish? When I logon I get the login Screen in Danish (as my Browser runs danish and accept danish as the primary language) so it seems that part of the product supports Danish.
    Another problem I had was that I created a XML file (taxonomy) with Danish characters in it describing a setup of a portal. After creating the Instant Portal using the Portal Builder the NLS characters (æøå) are shown as squares. Is this a known problem or do I do something wrong?
    Are Instant Portal an option at all if I want to have a Danish interface for a portal?

    Thanks for posting an update. The steps you describe are correct. You could have also generated a new instant portal in Danish in your first installation. Let's say you installed the Danish language post installation. You would first set your browser language to Danish, log in to portal, navigate to the Build page, and create a new instant portal. Your new instant portal will be generated in the current language, Danish. These steps are documented in the "Working with Languages" topic of the Oracle Instant Portal on-line help.
    As you pointed out, the release notes does contain important information for working with XML files to define your taxonomy in a global environment.

  • NLS support in xmlparser for pl/sql??

    Hi,
    I am not able to create a DOMNode with NLS-Text between the tags of the node. I am using the Oracle xml parser for pl/sql. All I need to do is create the node - "<wish>Good Morning</wish>". The value - "Good Morning" needs to come from a variable of type nvarchar2. A call to the function xmldom.createTextNode gives the following compile time error - PLS-00561: character set mismatch on value for parameter 'DATA', which literally means that the "DATA" formal parameter takes in only a varchar2 and not an nvarchar2. I could not find any other function to create a text node, which accepts an nvarchar2 data. Does this mean that the xmlparser for pl/sql does not support NLS? Please help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Vincent Morris.
    Procedure used for creating the node:
    create or replace procedure create_mynode is
    nls_text nvarchar2(50);
    doc xmldom.DOMDocument;
    node xmldom.DOMNode;
    element xmldom.DOMElement;
    text xmldom.DOMText;
    text_node xmldom.DOMNode;
    dummy xmldom.DOMNode;
    begin
    /* code for getting a DOMDocument into the variable doc
    nls_text:=n'Good Morning';
    element:=xmldom.createElement(doc, 'wish');
    node:=xmldom.makeNode(element);
    text:=xmldom.createTextNode(doc, nls_text); -- ERROR ON THIS LINE
    text_node:=xmldom.makeNode(text);
    dummy:=xmldom.appendChild(node,text_node);
    /* code for printing the tagname and value of the node contained in the variable 'node'
    end;

    declare
    doc xmldom.DOMDocument;
    nl xmldom.DOMNodeList;
    n xmldom.DOMNode;
    t xmldom.DOMNode;
    val VARCHAR2(30);
    begin
    doc := xmlparser.getDocument(p);
    nl := xmldom.getElementsByTagName(doc, '*');
    n := xmldom.item(nl, 1);
    t := xmldom.getFirstChild(n);
    val := UPPER(xmldom.getNodeValue(t));
    end;

    Hi Greg,
    the first thing that you must to know is that Adobe Reader doesn't offers the functionality that, among other things, it would allow you to save filled PDF forms.
    If you want to extend the functionality of a PDF form in order that it allows to realize all these especial actions being opened from A. Reader, you must use the Adobe Reader Extensions' software, which is a LiveCycle's product.
    Using it you will be able to extend the functionality of your forms, independently of the software used to open it.
    greetings...

  • Nls support

    where & what parameters do i set for getting multilingual support i.e chinese taiwanese
    japanese etc
    Will it cost me extra memeory in terms of
    storage
    null

    This is really to general a question to answer in a forum. The
    Globalization Guide answers these types of questions. Two pieces
    of advice. On the database installation side choose a character
    set that meets your language needs. The we... character sets
    such as WEMSWIN1252 or WE8ISO8859P1 support Western European
    languages plus English. The appendix in the back of the
    Globalization Guide lists the character sets to choose from.
    The other thing you will need to do is on the Windows 2000
    1) Open Regional Options in the Control Panel.
    2) Check to make sure that in the General tab at the bottom under "Language Settings for the
    System" and make sure you have Spanish checked
    off. If you do not have those two options on your system, then you will need to have your
    sysadmin install additional languages using the W2K CD.
    3) After you have the above options checked, click on the Input Locales tab in Regional
    Options and under the "Input Language" box make sure you have a Spanish language selected
    and that the Spanish language is using a Spanish keyboard.

  • NLS support to break reports

    Hello,
    Following Damir's thread - Break formatting and number format of SUM value - it seems like not only we can't disable the final report sum, in a report with breaks, we don't have any kind of control over the text of this final row, and what is more disturbing for me, its language.
    As Damir pointed out, sometimes this final row has no real meaning, but sometimes it is the real reason for the whole report. If this is the case, and the report is not in English (or one of the other native supported languages) the situation becomes very problematic – the entire report, including the break rows, is using the "local" language, but the most important line – report total - is in a "foreign" language.
    Any ideas on how to deal with it?
    Thanks,
    Arie.

    Hello,
    It seems I spoke to soon, and there is a way to control the text, language and style of this final report sum row, as can be seen here -

  • Nls support with oracle xml parser in java

    I'm using The JAXP interface to manipulate xml with xsl. the implementation that I use is Oracle xml parser.
    My xml contains a lot of hebrew chars, and in the result stream each char translated into 5-6 chars, which makes the result to be 5-6 times bigger than it suppose to be, and harder for me to debug my application.
    The client's browser shows the results well.
    How can I make the transformator to transform the hebrew chars to hebrew char istead of longer and not readable string ?

  • NLS support problems when using AL32UTF8 in dads.conf

    Hello,
    Following a post by Joel Kallman, in one of the forum threads, about the mandatory use of AL32UTF8 in dads.conf, when running HTML DB v2.0, I changed my PlsqlNLSLanguage parameter accordingly.
    Prior to the change, I experienced some problems when using non-English characters – some application items appeared as gibberish when contained non-English characters, and the LIKE operator didn't perform as expected. After the change, it all seems to work OK, but now I have a different problem.
    All the non-English characters in my HTML page source code appears as gibberish. On screen, at run time, everything display correctly, but the source code seems to be corrupted. It is very difficult, and very annoying to debug the pages that way. Is there a way to enjoy both worlds – Using AL32UTF8 in the dads.conf, as required, and still getting a coherent HTML source code, containing non-English characters?
    Thanks,
    Arie.

  • Encoding support for C++ parser.

    Hi,
    We are using XML C++ parser 2.0.4 in Solaris to handle our XML message. In order for us to support ISO-8859-1 or other encodings we need the NLS component of the ORACLE 8.0 DBMS software. We understand that in the later versions of the XML C++ parser NLS support will be rolled in with the C++ parser.
    In the interim for teams like ours not using ORACLE what are the options.
    Can we simply install unsupported ORACLE 8.0 demo software and be able to deliver to our customers with out any licence.
    Appreciate your help on this.
    Thanks,

    Unfortunately, this turns out to not be as straightforward as shipping a single NLS data file. For now, if you don't have the Oracle NLS data files, you'll only be able to use ASCII xml files.
