NM-HDA-4FXS in Cisco 2610

Hi, can I use NM-HDA-4FXS in "old" Cisco 2610 router (not XM series). I have tried it with a few different IOS version (12.2.15T, 12.3.9) and different feature set (PLUS, ENTERPRISE PLUS, ,,,) and still I have message that card in bay #1 (NM slot) is not correctly recognized (%PA-2-UNDEFPA: Undefined Port Adaptor type 22C in bay 1).
On CCO I found information that in Plus soft 12.2.2T and above Cisco 2610 serves NM-HDA.
Any suggestions ?
Thank a lot
Maciej

  • 2610 LAN configuration with devices on both internal and external IPs

I am more than a bit rusty and reconfiguring a network due the arrival of a new SBS office server. The new office server (and clients) needs to connect to the Internet via our Cisco 2610 router. The server is say 10.1.1.10 and the FastEthernet0 interface on the router is set to 10.1.1.200. The 2600 has a Serial0 interface that is connected to a leased line with an external IP address. We also have our own class C IP range used for web, mail and dns servers.
    So:
    OfficeServer (10.1.1.10)<----->FastEthernet0(10.1.1.200)[2600 ROUTER1]Serial0(123.123.123.54)<---leased line--->ISP(Internet)
However, I also have a webserver etc in our office, with an external IP address from our range, that needs to, and can, see the Internet.
So, we also have, on the same router:
    WebServer (90.4.123.35)<----->FastEthernet0(90.4.123.254)[2600 ROUTER1]Serial0(123.123.123.1)<---leased line--->ISP(Internet)
    interface FastEthernet0/0
    ip address 10.1.1.200 255.255.0.0 secondary
    ip address 90.4.123.254 255.255.255.0
    ip nat inside
    speed auto
    full-duplex
    interface Serial0/0
    description Connection to NTL
    ip address 123.123.123.54 255.255.255.252
    ip broadcast-address 123.123.123.55
    ip access-group inboundfilter in
    ip access-group outboundfilter2 out
    ip nat outside
    encapsulation ppp
    no fair-queue
The FastEthernet0 interface has both an internet and external IP address mapped to it. Currently the office PCs use the external IP address as their gateway address and this works, however the new server is more secure and won't allow this.
There is NAT and access-lists running on the Cisco and each office PC has an internal IP address that is NATted to a dedicated external IP.
At the moment the webserver can see the Internet, but the office server cannot. Office PCs can see the Internet if they use the external IP address mapped to FastEthernet0/0 direct as their gateway address (although you get a message suggesting that this is not the way to go). So I am trying to resolve this whilst also trying to set it up better/properly.
What is the best way to do this (all assistance appreciated)?
Do I need to NAT the internal office server IP to an external IP address for it to see the internet?
Do I need to NAT the internal gateway address to an external IP address or will the router be able to route this anyhow?
Could it be DNS, so should I set the DNS server on the office server NIC to the ISPs DNS server, or to the Cisco

The best solution is to renumber the webserver to an internal ip address and configure a static nat on the router:
    ip nat inside source static

  • Which version of IOS is required on Cisco 3640 to have Xconnect command?

    Hi,
I want  to  to configure layer2 circuits on Cisco 3640 , If anybody can let me knowWhich version of IOS is required on Cisco 3640 to have Xconnect command?

    Hi Harold,
I have a home lab having Cisco 3640, Cisco 2610 and Juniper J2320. I want to configure Layer-2 VPN/EoMPLS  between Juniper J2320 and Cisco device.
Could you please guide me on these 2 below mentioned questions.
    1) Does Cisco 2610 supports Layer-2/EoMPLS with any IOS. If so what IOS should I have to support Layer-2/EoMPLS on 2610.
2)Can you please confirm me that Cisco 2801 with IOS c2801-spservicesk9-mz.124-15.T9 will support Layer2/EoMPLS ?
While researching on this I cam to know that only 2801 with IOS c2801-spservicesk9-mz.124-15.T9 can support this , but not sure , need your guidance.
Based on your answer I will buy Cisco router 2801 for my Layer-2/EoMPLS setup.

  • 2610 Factory Reset and Startup Config Files

    Hi all;
I have a used 2610 which I did a factory reset on. I am able to get into the IOS and edit/change the config.
However after editing and trying to save using the command:
    copy run start
I get prompted to save the config to a file name/location which ultimately fails. Then on reboot it goes into the "basic setup" sequence again never saving to the config I'm trying to save.
The IOS ver. is 12.0(3)T and I do have the latest ver. and an TFTP program to upgrade, but I would like to create a config and save it first.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance. Steve

    Edison;
Thanks for the reply. Yes my register was 0x2142 but I did the "config-register 0x2102" and then was able to copy the running config to the startup config.
I do have another ?. I did type in a time offset command for my timezone but after reboot it keeps defaulting back to year 1993.

  • 20 Analog Trunks on CME 2911

    Hi guys.
We have a current requirement that has the following specifications.
Minimum of 20 Analog trunks, 1 x E1 PRI ISDN trunk, with SIP license (60 licenses), with IVR, call data recording
I have configured a 2911 with the appropriate licenses in CCW. But, how can I come up with a solution for 20 analog trunks? I am not yet familiar with this.

  • Having trouble with AS2511 RJ configuration.

Hello all. Could someone give me advice on this issue, i think i have it close to being resolved but need a slight push in the right direction. Any help/advise would be great.
I am in the process of building my lab. MY current setup has 4 cisco 2610 and 2 2501s for backbone routers along with a frame switch and a 2511 rj term server.
I have set up 2 of my routers to connect through the frame switch and am configuring the console ports to allow me access via my terminal server.
    Following is my setup
    2610----frame switch----2610
    term server
This is what i am a problem with. Both 2610s can talk to each other so i have ip connectivity. But when i try to connect on the console ports from the term serv i get a message saying. Trying r2 (172.16.1.1)... Open
Password required, but none set. Wierd thing is that both 2610s have the console password set. Config follows. So what gives? i know the config is saved and i have the right roll over cables connecting or else i would never even get the message saying password not set.

It looks like you are not hitting r2 through the console, you are hitting r2 via telnet.
If this is true, you should be able to put a password on vty 0 4 and sucessfully connect.
"Password needed and none set" is a telnet error ... not someting that would come from a console connection.
In your host definitions on the TermServer, remember to use a loopback address of te TermServer (along with the port 2001, 2002 ...).
Like: host r2 192.168.1.1 2002 <--192.168.1.1 is the loopback address of the termserver (itself).
    Good Luck

I found similar posts but they say this could be due to oversized images. It doesn't seem to be my case. My router memory count below shows I have 64D,16F as shown on the bottom of the pasted info below, isn't that correct ?
I downloaded an image from cisco.com for my C2610. I loaded the image onto the router via rommon/TFTP.
Then I noticed that every time I power cycle the C2610, I get the message "self decompressing....".
I made sure that the respective image I am trying to load, the 'c2600-j1s3-mz.123-16.bin' is supported by 64D and 16F routers. Note that is originally an image for 2610XM routers, however, before I downloaded an image for C2610 version 12.3 which also presented same problem.
Note that router was functional before I did this image download exercise.
Please advise what could be wrong and how I can get rid of this annoying 'decompressing' messages every time I start up router.

    Hi,
you can unzip the image using gzip or any other ZIP program (on a MS PC rename it to *.zip). It contains the "real" binary, which is about 2-3 times larger. Never tried to boot directly, but in principle this should also work. Just be aware, that the unzipped IOS might not fit into flash anymore.
Hope this helps! Please rate all posts.

  • IOS VERSION FOR MPLS

Hi! i'm trying to do a lab at my university implementing MPLS. I have routers cisco 2610 series. This is my configuration:
    Cisco2600-2(config-if)# ip route-cache cef
    Cisco2600-2(config-if)# mpls label protocol ldp
    Cisco2600-2(config-if)#mpls ip
My problem is that i can't use te "set mpls experimental topmost " command at the policy-map. My options are:
    Cisco2600-2(config-pmap-c)#?
    QoS policy-map class configuration commands:
    bandwidth Bandwidth
    compression Activate Compression
    drop Drop all packets
exit Exit from QoS class action configuration mode
no Negate or set default values of a command
    police Police
priority Strict Scheduling Priority for this Class
queue-limit Queue Max Threshold for Tail Drop
random-detect Enable Random Early Detection as drop policy
    service-policy Configure QoS Service Policy
    shape Traffic Shaping
My version of the IOS is:
IOS (tm) C2600 Software (C2600-TELCO-M), Version 12.3(15b), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
wich version do i need to run this command and configurations?? Any information will help. Thank you very much. Best regards!!

It is my understanding that you don't have that capability in those images (or platform). I didn't find the feature in the feature set of the 2600 platform. The feature you are looking for is: "MPLS Quality of Service (QoS) Enhancements"
    From the feature set definition:
    - MPLS quality of service enhancements allow service providers to classify packets according to their type, input interface, and other factors by setting (marking) each packet within the MPLS experimental field without changing the IP precedence/DSCP field. For example, service providers can classify packets with or without considering the rate of the packets that PE1 receives. If the rate is a consideration, the service provider marks in-rate packets differently from out-of-rate packets.

  • "frags delayed" counter incrementing for Voice PVC

    Hi,
We are using VoFR between two Cisco 2610 using FXO\FXS Cards. It is a point-point link with two PVCs, one for Voice and one for Data.
I have implemented Traffic-Shaping and FRF. However when i do a "show frame pvc " command, i can see "frags delayed"counter incrementing for the Voice PVC, indiciating delay in sending packets and thus compromising Voice Quality.
    1. Is it normal to have this counter increasing ? What is the acceptable percentage i.e "frags delayed \ total frags" ?
    2. Is there anything i can do ? Would PVC Priority Queuing help ?
I need to be sure if PVC Priority is the solution, as we would have to do a Flash Upgrade to install the new software with this feature.

  • I do 'router isis' but I get 'protocol not in this image'

    C2610, IOS 12.3.
I've searched this on forums but I couldn't find the answer:
I attempt to do 'router isis' but IOS returns 'protocol not in this image'. How can I solve this ? I would like to work on ISIS redistribution labs against EIGRP, OSPF, etc.

Thanks for info. hmmm... I need to search it more, but so far it seems my image can't do ISIS...
