No 5.1 sound because of Signal Enchanceme

I was happy to see the new driver coming out for my Audigy 4 card on Vista x86, but unfortunatly after a few days of use (where it worked fine) it suddenly stopped working. When I want to play some mp3's I get the message Driver Enhancement is causing problems, do you want to disable it's When I select yes the mp3's work, but my 5. is gone. I tried to reconfigure, but still no 5. sound. Even a complete uninstall of my card and reinstall of the drivers didnt work. ?Anyone else having the same problems? Or know a way to solve this?thx in advance!

What content are you playing and expecting 5.1 from?
iTunes Movie trailers are stereo only, most modern movies from iTunes will have 5.1 as well as stereo, and some streaming services content will have 5.1, some won;t it will vary from title to title.
In AppleTV Settings for Audio and Video change Dolby Digital to On which should force it to output 5.1 when available.
Wise to check the amp's configuration for that input but I expect you have done so.

  • My recorded signal is not sounding like the signal I am monitoring.

My recorded guitar is not sounding like the signal I am monitoring. It sounds very good when recording, but lacks energy and detail when it is played back. If I am using input/direct monitoring am I also bypassing the Analog to Digital converters? Could this explain the difference in sound quality?
Would it be the same to monitor a signal directly out of the sound card and to monitor "through" Logic?
My sound card is a Presouns Firepod.

    Yes.

    No.

Consult the manual of that device, to see if you can learn from where in the signal chain it gets your direct monitoring from --- PRE conversion or POST conversion... My bet is that it is pre conversion.

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !
I am assuming that the computer is showing some signs of life such as the fan spinning or lights illuminated.  If there isn't then check your power source.  Try plugging the computer in a different wall socket.
If the problem still continues and you are not comfortable working inside your computer or your warranty is still active then I would recommend you contact Lenovo Support for additional assistance in getting your computer repaired or visit a local area Authorized Lenovo Repair Center.

  • Sound and vibration signal simulator box

When i am giving 0 to 5volt output from sbRIo to the  sound and vibration signal simulator box to control the speed
the fan rotates very slow but when i a potentiometer present on board(manual control) there is  linear relation with the input and output...
    Max RPM being 6000
when i give output from the controller previously it was running on 4000 after few days 3000rpm and then 2400 now its very low and almost 1000 RPM
may i know the solution to rectify this...

If is the fan controlled by output voltage and you have corrected value of voltage, there is no problem in code but problem is with fan.

    Hi!

Niels approach to get the BootCamp Assistant back is recommended because usually the correct way to remove your Windows partition is to use the BootCamp Assistant again which should give you the option to remove the made Windows partition and revert back to one OSX volume.
After that's done a reboot of your Mac might be advisable.
Only if that's not working (whatever the reason) :
    1) boot your Mac from your OSX install DVD
    2) choose your language and then 'ignore' (cancel) the installation
    3) from the Top Menu (Utilities) start Disk Utility (DU)
    4) in DU click on your harddisk (not any partition) in the left pane (the first item listed)
    5) in the right pane use the 'Partition'-Tab
    6) click to highlight on the ex-Windows partition you want to delete
    7) click on the small '-' Button at the bottom
That should delete your former Windows partition
    After that's done successfully
    8) Drag the partition separator line until it encompasses the entire drive and then select apply.
    9) Quit Disk Utility
    10) reboot your Mac from your harddisk.
Since you are 'fumbling' with your OSX partition you should consider having/making a backup of it before trying the a.m. procedure. Just in case.

  • How can i measure the speed of the fan in sound and vibration signal simulator box

how can i measure the speed of the fan in sound and vibration signal simulator box
provided the values  tach out:2 pulses/revolution and  maximum speed = 6000rpm

Hi. I tried your suggestion and I could not get it to work well. In
fact it worked better without the running average (which suprised me).
I also played with the number of data points but still could not get it
    to work well.
Do you have any other suggestions on how I could sort this problem out?
    I
have attached a screen shot of the signal. To recap, I'm trying to
measure the'y' position of the flat regions of the signal. The signal
does not have a constant level, so this 'y' position varies with time
    in a non-unform manner.
    I am currently differentiating
the signal and selecting the y position when the differential is equal
to zero (within a tolerance band).
    In the screenshot, the
signal has been zeroed using the method I have described above.
However, it occasionally has glitches which may be caused when the code
picks up a zero gradient at a peak or valley in the signal.
I therefore need some kind of algorithm that only measures the position of the flat regions.
    Many thanks
     John

  • Why does my MacBook Pro mid 2010 sound a SOS signal on start-up?

Since last month our MBP mid 2010 started to have boot issues. Sometimes it boots fine 10 times, other times it will take time and patience before you get through the SOS signals. After it is finally started, it will work perfectly and also putting it to sleep gives no problems. Only when you restart or shutdown the machine and start again it might fail, but it is random.
We have been to Apple Store Amsterdam, but according to their tests, the memory was fine. Also the RAM was reseated and other RAM was used, but the problem persists. This rules out a faulty memory I think. What we didn't do is only use one of the two slots, since I am not sure the system will run normally then.
I am afraid this is a logic board issue if I am not mistaken, but (of course) I hope it can also be something else. Are there any other tests that we could do?

    Hey Alomolife,
I also still have no clue. At this point I notice that the MBP gets very cold over night and it does not start. If I heat it up by using a hairdryer or the oven, it will start up. So basically I can only restart it when I have tropical temperatures in the house.. Maybe the mechanical part of the hard drive does not work properly in the cold. This way of working is of course not something I would like to keep doing. How did you get your machine started again?

  • Can't record from Line-In because the signal is too strong

This is happening with a just bought h9-1150 desktop system.
    Intel Core i5-3550 CPU
    IDT High Def audio codec
    NVIDIA High Def Audio
I've been trying to record from a turntable into Line-In. No matter how low I set the recording levels, the signal is too hot, resulting in overdriven, distorted audio.
Doesn't seem to matter whether Beats is turned on or off.
    Any help would be appreciated.

You will need to attenuate the signal or you will damage the audio input of your motherboard. You can either find a circuit online to make a converter or buy one. Here is a web document with more information on the subject.
    Best regards,

  • Analog signal sound indicator

    Hi,
I would like to have a sound indicator for an analog signal.
I have a detecor which generates an voltage signal and I would like to indicate the strength of the signal with a sound.
Low signal menas a low frequency sound and a high signal means a high frequency sound.
    Any hints ?
    Johan

You mention strength of signal one place and frequency of the signal another. Strength is usually associated with an amplitude such as voltage or current or power rather than frequency. Can you clarify what you want?
The sound output VIs can be used to generate an audio signal through the computer's sound device. You can control the frequency, amplitude, and duration of the signals you send to the sound output. So you should be able to do what you want, once you have it well defined. It may not be a pre-packaged solution, but it should not be too difficult to write oyur own.

  • External Usb Audio Card Popping and Cracking sound with Satellite L500

    Greetings,
My name is Boyan and I am from Bulgaria and about an year ago I've bought a satellite laptop from the l500 series ( i can not state which exactly is the model at the moment because my computer is not currently with me and on my user manual the only thing which is stated is that it is for L500/L505/ L500D / L505D . But by memory I think it was the Satellite L500D-ST5506 which is currently not at my dispossal because I gave it for repair for the same problem which I will state down below)
The problem with my laptop is that when I plug a Usb Audio card in my laptop I have a cracking sound when live sound is played trough the speakers/headphones from the external card. I've tried numerous audio cards and speakers/headpohnes which work perfectly fine with other computer, including laptops but the same problem keeps on showing up in the headphones/speakers of my laptop when I am using an external audio card to connect them to the laptop.
The problem is prominent only when the sound signal passes trough an external audio card and it is very annyoing since I use my laptop to create music and i've bought an expenssive audio card and speakers which can not be used with the laptop. I've tried 3 models of audio cards:
    M-Audio Fast Track Pro
    Behringer uca 222
and a simple external 3d sound usb audio card and the problem still appears.
At first I thought that the problem should be software and I should install new drivers although windows 7 automaticaly recognizes and intalls the drivers for the devices and I have sound in them (but with cracks and popps) so i tried using the official drivers sold to me with the audio cards but with no luck: The problem was still there. I tried finding new drivers of the audio cards on the official distributors websited and i've downloaded them but the problem was still there. Then i tried to delete every audio driver on my computer and just use the external audio card for sound but this dint help eighter. I've updated my drivers for my build-in audio card as well but again - no luck.
After that.the frist thing I did when (2 weeks after i bought the laptop) was to contact the store from which i bought my audio card and they stated that the problem may be eighter latency or high voltage from the laptop so they adviced me to try to lower the latency from the settings or to try and see if the problem remains if my laptop is only running on battery. I've tried both things and they didn't help. The audio cards worked without a problem on every other computer I've tried them on except mine. So they said to me that the problem couldnt possibly be from the audio cards .
What I did next was I gave my laptop to the official distributor of toshiba in my country so they can fix my problem. What they said to me was that the problem is caused from the version of windows which was pre-installed on my laptop and that it wasnt compitable with the audio cards (which was bizzar sounding because I've tried them on the same windows and they've worked, just on other computers). So I got back my laptop and changed my operating sistem from Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit to Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 64bit to Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 32bit and on all of those versions the problem was there: whenever I activate a Usb Audio Card and audio signal passes trough it I heard cracks and popps. I even tried isntalling Windows XP but the laptop wants spesific SATA drivers for the installation of Windows XP which although i did find - they didnt help me install XP and I didn't want to go in to the BIOS of the computer to try to put a new one and so on because I am not so sure about that and I could lose my warranty so I said to the official repair store for Toshiba in my town to put XP on my computer to fix the problem but they can't because they are not liscened to operate with software which doesn't have a recipt for its purchase ( which i didnt because i bought my windows xp long ago and i've lost the recipt)
I gave it for repair for the second time telling them that the change of my operating system did not solve my problem and what they did was they changed the whole motherboard on my computer, stating that the build in realtek audio device on my computer is not good enough to support an usb audio card or it maybe broken and they have to change the whole motherboard because the build in card is glued to it, so they did that but my problem wasn't solved. They told me that although I am using and external usb audio card the signal still passes trough my internal one and I have to disable it so i tried disabling it trough the control panel but this did not solve the problem and i do not have an option from BIOS to disable my build-in audio card. Another thing which I thought maybe causing the problem is that the two audio cards aren't working on the same bit rate and Hertz so I set both cards to 16 bit 48000hz DVD Quality (Also tried other options on the 3 cards i have) but...the same thing happend.
They told me that this is just my luck and that the build in audio card doesn't support this external audio cards and I should had been more careful when choosing my laptop at first.
I couldn't accept this awnser for several reasons:
    1) This audio cards work on lower version of windows and are supported by much older models of Realtek and much older computers (one of them was bought 2000!!!!! and my laptop is from 2010!!)
    2) The guys who were fixing the problem apperantley didn't go in so deep in to my problem because they didn't know what actually the problem was they just knew that there is a problem with the audio card and the computer interacting with eachother, they didnt know that there is cracking during live play from the external audio card.
    3) I can not accept the fact that Toshiba is manufacturing models with chipset audio cards which can not support a simple external Usb Audio Card. This is totally unacceptable for me and I truly hope this is not the case!
4)They didn't try my audiocards on an other laptop from the same series stating that they do not have one at their dispossal at the moment so I will go tomorrow to a local store and try the audio cards by my self on the same computer in the store.
What I did now was I gave back my laptop for repair asking for a statement of the problem in wrtting with all details of the problem so I can go to court or ask for a new laptop but I will be charged with some money because according to them there is no problem in the laptop and the problem is that my external audio cards arent compitable with the build in internal chipset audio card. If I give my laptop for repair and there is no hardware problem I will have to pay some money. I will do this but I am now mad, since this will not solve my problem and I am loosing time and money.
What I am asking here is, if you can not help me solve my problem and advice me what to do to fix it, please provide me the details of the chipset build in audiocard on my motherboard, so i can investigate if it is compitable with my external audio cards and contact the audio card dealers to ask them for their opinion. Or if you can tell me with what it is compitable with and with what not, it would be great. I personally think that this laptop should have no problems at all with running a simple external usb audio card but I am asking you, if you know something more about that.
If the problem is from the build in chipset then Toshiba is manufacturing (or at least selling) audiocards which aren't at a normal standart but sadly I cant do nothing about it except complain to Toshiba and never deal whith such productgs anymore. In the other case if this is not true, then my laptop has a problem which is different and I will have to go to court with the repair mans for not fixing my laptop or not giving a new one when I have warranty which will not be Toshiba's fault and It will in a way solve my problem.
I hope you understand how Important this is for me and I hope I resolve the problem as soon as possible.
    P.S
I would like to state that I am well aware of the grammar mistakes I have made in the text below and I would like to ask for your apologies as I am not a native English language speaker.

  • Mini Sound Output

I have a Mac Mini and I have hooked up the sound output to my JVC Home Theatre systems so I can play iTunes through it. The problem is that the sound level is very low even with all the outputs turned up to max. I need to have the JVC up to near max volume to get a reasonable sound output.
Do I need a preamp or something between the two. Any suggestions ?
    Thanks

    Steve,
You are correct that a phono output requires an pre-amp. However, in this case it probably is the type of connector used, a.k.a RCA plug. The mini output should be around line level (depending on the various settings for the output level) and indeed plugged into an AUX input. If a phono input was used, the sound would be very loud and distorted because phono signal levels are significant lower than line levels. I wonder if the audio input (with the mini) is selected when the original poster plays his iTunes.

  • Audigy 4 Sound

I am having a problem with my sound. I have a Sound Blaster Audgy 4 and I have a low volume problem. I am running Windows XP. I checked slider tabs and they appear to be all the way up. Is there something I missed? I appreciate any help.

These JBL speakers you mentioned, please make sure you have speakers that connect to a power source, and have a built in amplifier to amplify the signal that the sound card sends it. If the speakers do not have an amplifier, you may get very low sounds or no sound at all (because the signal is too weak).
You can try swapping your Creative Sound Blaster speakers 7. to see if you are getting a reasonable volume. That should tell you if the Audigy 4 is working properly or if it's something to do with the JBL speakers.
