No 5.1 sound for digital output

My past mobo (asus) die, so I replaced with a 760GM-P23.  I have a LG home theater with S/PDIF input and before I was able to watch my riped movies with 5.1 bypass sound.  I get a S/PDIF bracket for this mobo and upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1.  I only have stereo sound over S/PDIF. I installed latest realtek drivers and the configure button (speakers) is greyed.  The Realtek Audio Manager doesn't show me any settings for speakers on the digital interface.  Is this a motherboard issue ? a driver issue ? as I said, it Works just fine in my previous build... What can I do ?

Robbo69,
Unfortunately the GD580's were aimed specifically at the console gaming community and not at PC audio. That is why it does not have 5. analog inputs on the decoder box. Are you still able to return the speakers? If so I have a combination of speaker set and decoder box that will improve both the speaker quality and your abilities all the while keeping the cost fairly close to the retail cost of the GD580's. If you return the GD580's in exchange for a set to T5400 - http://us.creative.com/products/prod...5&product=5077
and a DDTS-00 - http://us.creative.com/products/prod...6&product=9468
You will gain almost double the wattage of the GD580's plus the ability to connect a 6. or 7. speaker system to the DDTS-00 at a later date. The current retails put this at about $30 dollars more...much less that what an Audigy 2 ZS would cost (although that is also worth considering).
That Audigy 2 ZS does not contain a real time AC3 encoder as right now there are factors with these kinds of encoders that make it a poor match with a high quality sound card (the real time encoding process is lossy and can severely limit the audio quality of the bit stream. With onboard cards this is not as large a problem since the source signal is of a lower quality).

where can i find it's Pls help me !!!

That is not the problem however it is located in the speaker setup window and all it does is disable the line outs, digital is always turned on and cannot be turned off. I suggest you re-read the 5700 manual. Tell me which lights you have on.

  • No sound via digital output

Hi, ive bouht th right toslink cable to conect my mbp 15" to my receiver. Analog out works without problems but as soon as i connect it digitally, the red light at the end of the tost link cable appears but it doesnt deliver any sound. Neither digital dvd output nor mp3s in itunes. It just doesnt work. Apple Suppot Hotline hasent got a clue.
    Do you?
Has anyone got his mbp connected digitally to his DTS decoder / receiver?

For DVD Output you need to set DVD Player to stream to digital audio, look here:
DVD Player -> Preferences -> Disk Setup | Audio - Audio Output
I assume you have selected "Digital Out" in:
System Preferences -> Sound - Output

  • Trouble specifying TTL for digital outputs from PCI-6221

    Hi!
I'm trying to generate TTL output signals using a PCI-6221 daq board - within Labview, I'm using DaqMx to create two digital waveforms and then write these. When I plug in an oscilloscope, the shapes/frequencies of the signals are correct, but the lower value is 0V, and the higher value is 1V, rather than the TTL values. Is there a way to specify these voltage levels to TTL within the software? I see from NI help that "do.logicfamily" exists to specify TLL, but when I add a property node and connect it to the channels, I do not see Logic Family as an option under "digital output." Let me know if you have any ideas!
    Thank you,
    Emily

Set your oscilloscope to use 1MOhm impedence.  Your problem is that the maximum current for those DIO is 24mA.  1V/50 Ohms = 20mA.  So you are current limiting the digital outputs.  If you need more current, then you need to add in some digital buffer chips that can output more current.

  • How to read back the output state for digital output or anlog output ?

I use NI-pci 6221(68PIN) Accquistion card to do measurmet, after i do digital output ,or anlog output ,I find that the output will be maitained by the card.even after i exit my accquistion program. But if i reset the card ,the ouptut also will be reset.
Now if i don't reset the card ,how can i read back the output state,?

    Hi Mike,
There is no way for you to internally route an analog output to an analog input. The only solution is to physically connect the two lines together with a wire.
I came to this conclusion through the following steps:
1- Start MAX and select the DAQmx device under "Devices and Interfaces>>NI-DAQmx Devices" that you want to internally route signals through.
2- Click on the "Device Routes" tab on the bottom of the right hand window (It defaults to the "Attributes" tab)
3- Line up the Source with the Destination to see if the connection can be internally routed (either direct or indirect)
I came to the above conclusion by following these steps for a PCI-6251 DAQ device (the analog output & input do not exist in the "Device Routes" tab therefore they do not support internal routing), but you should verify this for your specific hardware. Let me know if you have any other questions/concerns.

  • ITunes and Audio Midi settings for digital output sampling frequency

Most of my music is sampled at the CD standard of 44.1 kHz, but some is 48 kHz.
I have Audio Midi set to output 48 kHz with 24-bit depth.
I've been told that to avoid having iTunes up-sample when playing 44.1 kHz music, that I need to quit iTunes, manually reset the setting in Audio Midi to the lower, matching, number, and then re-start iTunes.
This strikes me as odd. Is it true? If so, is there any less cumbersome way to deal with this?

Wheat I agree entirely with your last sentiments.
I had a similar problem to 'Luckydog'.
I have a Roland HP3 digital piano which itself is a standalone musical instrument (synthesiser if you like) but also has midi in/out and audio in/out.
I made the mistake of connecting my Mac PBG4/GB2 setup to my HP3 via the Edirol UM2 USB interface, expecting to hear my piano's sounds recorded in GB2. Of course GB2 did not record anything when I selected real instrument track beacuse the Roland, I think, was sending audio not midi data to GB2. What I have since realised is that to record a real instrument whether it be a digital piano (or acoustic piano via microphone) is to set the GB2 input to audio and feed the signal from the Roland via its audio outputs to my Mac via audio interface. (I have a USB Grifin iMic).
Of course I could use the Roland purely as a midi controler and select a software instrument track in GB2, but I also have a Radium 49 simple midi controller keyboard for that.
One thing that does puzzle me though is, that if I hook up my Roland via the UM2 to a WindowsXP laptop running an app. called Cakewalk Music Creator, the Roland sounds are recorded in the timeline and can be viewed, edited and printed as conventional music scores(great for composers!!) Also the Roland track recorded in CMC can be played back through the Roland's on-board sound generator.
In this scenario there is no audio feed between the Roland and the PC only two way midi via the UM2 USB/midi interface.
This is seems to be a fundamental difference between GB2 and the Cakewalk product. Can you explain what's going on hear Wheat?.
Sorrry such a long post !!

  • No sound via digital output after reinstallation of snow leopard

    Hi,
I use my mac mini as Media Center using the XBMC.org for the last year.
yesterday, I decided to reinstall the Mac Mini, and to organize everything I have there. I erase the HDD and install the 10.6.2 retail DVD and upgrade to 10.6.4
After everything done successfully, I realize that there is no sound via the Digital I/O which works great before that process. I tried this issue with several software and even in the prefs, the only audio device is the 'Internal Speakers'
    Any idea?
    Thanks,

  • Cable for digital output on airport express?

what cable do I need to use the digital optical output on airport express? Can I use it to feed a DAC upsampling converter such as the DACMAgic? Thanks

    Hello
I have just set up this as described.
I've noticed though that on the Dacmagic, the incoming sample rate, when connected via the Mini Toslink adapter to a Airport express is 44.1 - where as if I connect the Dacmagic directly to my Mac via USB, it jumps to 96.
Why is that and is it likely to affect the sound quality?  Haven't had a chance to do a side by side comparison yet.

  • Binary Indicator for Digital Output Device

This probably simple question to most of people but there is always a first time to do a new thing/thing that we never have done.
I have NI 9472 which is a digital sourcing device, I have no problem to control it using LABView to output the result (line 00000000).  I also would like to have some indication on the computer screen using LED array.  I am able to create an binary array indicator but fail to connect the decimal input to the binary array.
Please help/provide some hints, it is appreciated.

I'm with Dennis.  Just use a numeric indicator.  Set the representation to U8.  Right-click on it and select Visible->Radix.  Right-click again and choose Display Format.  Choose the Advanced editing mode and put in %08b.  The result will give you an indicator like this.

  • Synchronize NI 9514 with NI 9401 for digital output

    Hi,
I need to write a code to trigger a laser for a PIV system. I'm using the NI 9514 with an AKD Drive to control a servo. I need to send a +5V signal to trigger the laser at a specific angle of rotation of the motor (This is repeated for every turn of the rotor). I also have the NI 9401 DIO. Any idea/example of how to do this will be much appreciate. I'm using the scan mode for the NI 9514, my system is a CRio 9022 with 9114 Chassis.
    Thanks a lot!

I believe the Periodic Position Compare Example is what you are looking for. The description states that it "shows how to use the position compare output to generate an output signal at a regular period".
You can find it by going to Help >> Find Examples >> Hardware Input and Output >> Motion Control >> NI SoftMotion >> Properties and Methods >> Advanced.

  • Analog Audio Output Jack for Digital Speakers with same jack configuration

I just purchased my first Mac, a Mac Pro. I can't get sound to my speakers using the analog out jack. With my old PC, there was a setting for "digital output" even though the digital speakers were attached via to the same style jack as the Mac's analog out jack. I've tried going to preferences but don't see a like setting for digital output. Is there a setting to do so and if not, is there an adapter to convert the Mac's digital audio out to the analog jack style?

Do you want digital or analog? Your question seems to imply that you have speakers that accept a digital signal but you also say you want analog...??
Anyway, my Mac Pro (2006 model) has separate analog and optical digital outputs on the back. The pictures on the apple website still show the same thing on the Mac Pro so I'm guessing it's the same. I think only the Mac laptops have the analog/optical digital combo jacks...
The optical digital outputs are the little white squarish ports beneath the rear firewire ports.
The MacPro does not have a SPDIF RCA style output. Maybe that is what you are thinking of from the windoze pc...
You should be able to enable the rear analog line output or the digital outputs from the System Preferences > Sound > Output screen. The front headphone outputs kind of act weird in that they disable the rear line output (if I remember correctly, I never use the front port...).

  • Digital Output problem once again (WIN XP, Audigy

I searched the forums with no luck, actually I searched the whole internet with no luck - so far.
    My problems in a nutcase:
    - I can't find the button for Digital Output (the one which enables it, Windows XP's sound mixer used to have that option with some ?windows build?, but I can't find it since I installed creative drivers, it's just gone...).
    - If I find the digital output on-button with your help, is it even possible hear music with add-ons trough digital-optical cable or should I buy some mono-cable? :O
    To be specific:
I have the Creative Audigy 4 Bulk, which of course supports SPDIF Digital output. I bought expesi've optical cable that I could finally use my hifi 5. speakers with movies trought computer. I have new 700 euro amplifier, and it supports everything, so the problem isn't with that one, anyways, let's get touch with the real problem.
What ever drivers I'm using, I can't find the digital output section anywhere. Creative drivers has one SPDIF-button, but it affects nowhere. So, I can't even get the Digital Sound on, because windows mixer has no button for that with my windows xp, weird. I also tried to install windows vista, and there wasn't either any options, where I could put the digital output on.
Which drivers and which add-ons should I install to get that Digital Output to work.
If I manage to find the button for digital output from some drivers, can I also listen music while it's connected via optical-digital cable, or am I just able to hear sound from dolby digital movies? Is it even possible to get everything work with my optical cable (music/games and movies at the same time).

. Your card doesn't have optical output, only "coaxial" digital. You will need a stereo (or camcorder) cable with one mini jack on one end and 2 (or 3) RCA connectors on the other. The white RCA will be the one you need.
The setting is on the "Creative AudioHQ" at the "Surround Mixer" selection. It is called "Digital Output Only". Or if you use the little icon on the taskbar, at the "Speakers" on "Speaker Selection" you have the same option (a check mark under the selection of speakers).
    2. If you read the FAQ, you will get surround sound (5.) ONLY from DVD-Video that are encoded in DolbyDigital or DTS and ONLY if you pass-trough the digital signal to the receiver to do the decoding. In ALL other cases you will get STEREO PCM signal.
    3. If your receiver is a decent one you should have an analog surround input (5. analog input). in that one you can plug the analog outputs from your card in order to have surround sound all the time (like in the games).

  • Configure for digital out

I just upgraded tp windows xp and my speakers are not working. The speakers were working fine before theupgrade. And I was told by the speaker manufacturer I need to make sure that the soundcard is configured for digital output. How do I do this? I have a Sound blaster PCI

    jop,
Sound Blaster PCI is too general. What is the exact model of the soundcard you have? Does your soundcard came pre-installed from system such as Dell, Acer, Alienware, etc? If it does, it's an OEM card and you will need to obtain the driver/software from those system integrator website. Also, the digital output only option should be within the surround mixer software or speaker setting software, whichever you have.
