No 5.1 Sound on mov

I'm a huge fan of Star Wars and was watching the movie..but than I notice it sounds like it's stereo sound coming out of my speakers. My speakers are 5. Logitech X-350's. I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value. Am I doing something wrong? I'm playing them on Windows Media Player 2 with Div X codecs.

Ahh, I had this same issue just yesterday after getting a new set of 5. speakers and getting no 5. sound in DVDs.
Media player 0 will run 5., you just need to go into sound settings then advance and change it to 5..
Power DVD needs to be regested for it to work, dont bother with it.
Win DVD works great, no issues.
TURN OFF CMMS!, this is ONLY for stereo media ( 2 channel ) It is used to get all speakers to work with music, IMHO its useless and CMSS serves no purpose at all.
Also, and I hope I dont step on any toes here, but if you rip a movie make sure you select audio with 6 channel in rip option. Plus most if not all Divx rips, Xvid, AVI, VCD, SVCD wont have 5. sound, this is just to kep the D/L smaller.

SUCCESS! I redownloaded QuickTime 7 (with iTunes 6) and reinstalled everything (without uninstalling first). But FIRST I temporarily disabled my Symantec Norton Firewall and Symantec Anti-Virus BEFORE reinstalling. Then the PC froze up and had to do a forced reboot. Then went into QuickTime's Preferences (Audio; Select Audio Devices) and changed the Audio Default Device to my SoundBlaster device (it was set to TotalRecorder for some reason). Then played a video from QuickTime only and got sound. Then tried it in iTunes with success. Now there's sound with Movie Trailers as well.
I heard once that Firewalls and Anti-Virus programs can sometimes interfere with new software installs. I feel I got lucky. Was on the verge of coughing up $30 for the QuickTime Pro, which probably wouldn't have solved the problem. Hopefully this helps you. Good luck.

5.1 sound in mov

Earlier I was having problems getting my sound to work. I installed the webdrivers from the site here and I was able to get sound. I wanted to use the software features such as surround mixer so I tried to use the install CD that came with my card. It said No sound Blaster cards detected. I posted it here and someone told me to use explorer and run the EXE's that way. This worked in a way and I was able to get all of the software installed. So I wanted to watch a DVD on my pc with my new card and I went into the device control under Audio HQ and thried to enable 5. in movies. It now gives me an error of "No DVD Software" I have an Audigy 2 with Sound blaster Inspire 5. 5200 speaker system. I am also running WinXP SP2 . Any Ideas ?

I have the Audigy 2 (not ZS, Platinum, etc, just plain 2) also and I don't have settings as you describe. Under Speaker Settings I have the selection for the number of speakers I have (4/4., 5., 6., etc - I have 5. selected) I don't have a checkbox as you describe. I don't see how a WinDVD uninstall/reinstall would affect the Audigy settings. Maybe one of the Creative people could help solve your dilemma! :smileytongue:
But you know what? Sometime ago I had ordered a new installation disk from Creative and inadvertently ordered the ZS disk, (There was some confusion as to which card I had.) So that may explain why our settings are different. But I still can't understand how the Audigy would know whether you have DVD software installed, which you obviously do. I think at this point, I would uninstall the DVD software and do a Cleansweep of the Audigy software and start over :angry:

No DTS sound with movi

I already read the other threads about DTS problems but it didn't solve my problem. I have an Audigy 2 ZS gamer card, an ATI All-In-Wonder 9800 Pro, a Sony DVD dri've, Logitech 5. speakers which I hav connected to the sound card properly, plent of RAM and Athlon 64 3500+. My main problem shows up in two ways, first I have a DVD that cleans the lens and also does other sound and video tests, on my home theatre system the 5. sound tests works great playing sound out if each speaker and the subwoofer, but when I play it on my computer I only get sound from the front three speakers. Also, when playing movies I get sound when I choose the 5. DD setting but I get no sound when I choose the DTS setting. I went into Audio HQ and both DD 5. and DTS are activated. I don't even know for sure if I am getting true Dolby Digital 5. when I watch movies. Sound comes out of all the speakers when I watch a movie in 5. and also on the speaker tests in the Audio HQ. I have two DVD players, the InterActual one that comes with a lot ov DVD's, and the ATI player that came with the all-in-wonder card. I noticed that when I go to the sound options on the ATI DVD player it gives me a few options, either decode and downmix to 2 speakers or Pass through to an audio device where it gives me options of two different ATI audio devices but no creative. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I believe that if you do not have either a hardware decoder or a software decoder,Intervideo DVD 6 Platinum or Cyberlink Power DVD you will be unable to listen to DTS,certification of Dolby,DTS,or THX only means that it's compatible with that format and the proper equipment

No sound when movies are burned onto DVD

I have sound in my movies when I preview the project before I burn it but after it's burned the sound disappears from the movies... The theme music is there but no sound from the movies. Was I suppose to import sound or something? Please help.

Hi, am not an expert like the others are, but I too had the same problem and read somewhere in this forum that this happens (no sound) if you had chapter markers on your iMovie and you placed the chapter mark at a place that doesnt exactly align with where the music for that chapter starts. So what I did was to go back to my iMovie project, i deleted the previous chapter marker, made sure the music for that chapter started exactly where the chapter started, and then added a new chapter marker. then when you open iDVD, it will prompt you if you want to update your "assets", say yes. then go to Movies and drag that same project in.
I hope it works for you. It did for me (but unfortunately I found out there was no music in one of my chapters only after I had already burned 10 copies!!). Hope you are luckier.

No sound on movies once burned to disk

I have no idea if this is the correct place to ask my questions, but hopefully someone can help me. I made an iDVD project consisting of three movies imported from my camera and a slide show. I can view all three movies perfectly when I open from the desktop version of the project. I burned the project onto a DVD, and there is no sound when I play the movies. There is music during the slideshow and music at the opening, but no luck with each independent movie. PLEASE HELP- I have so many small movies of my kids and would love to make more DVDs out of them! Thanks so much.

From your description, the +three movies imported from my camera"+ have the audio problem. It's possible they're in a format that needs to be converted.
.avi movies can cause this kind of problem (yourfilename.avi). Possible workaround - If you open the camera video in iMovie, does it play correctly? And, if you Export from iMovie to iDVD, does that video play correctly?
There is software to change audio/video formats if necessary (Quicktime Pro, MPEG Streamclip, Roxio Toast, etc.). Tell us more about your video.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps
1. Go to Settings
2. Tap on General
3. Tap on Reset
4. Tap on Reset All Settings
What this effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. It removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do No Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy. It doesn’t affect your data. All of your email accounts will remain intact, as well as any SMS text or iMessages.

Having problems with lack of sound in movies

i at first was having trouble transferring movies to my iPod (sad, i know), but after reading about the "convert" command, was able to transfer the file to my iPod.
however, now when i try to play the file on my iPod, there is no sound. at all.
suggestions?

This is because iTunes doesn't convert video files for iPods correctly; it turns out that you won't get any audio on a video on your iPod if it's been converted through iTunes in this way (although it may be in the right format, and all).
You'll need a third-party program to convert these movies for your iPod, so the sound ends up coming through in the movies.
MPEG Streamclip is a good program that you can download and use for converting videos for your iPod. (It is compatible with both Windows and Mac users).

I've just got a MacPro running 10.4.11. If I download a .mov file it appears to play perfectly but with no sound. I have Quicktime 7.5 installed. What can I do about this?

As you can see these should play in Quicktime 7.5.5 which you presumably have?
As for the missing audio:
Your audio settings may have been changed.
1. Open Audio MIDI Setup (/Applications/Utilities/), then check the Audio Output setting.
2. Change the Audio Output setting to 44100.0 Hz.
3. Quit Audio MIDI Setup.

Why poor sound on movie?

I just purchased a movie, Robin Hood, Prince of Theves and the sound quality is poor. Low volume and sonetimes no sound at all. My IMAC just can't make the sound stable. Any ideas?

i recently upgraded itunes, (which i always upgrade whenever there is a new download avaliable.) since doing that, none of my movies/music videos play with any sound but music plays fine.

Try MPEG Streamclip instead of iTunes for converting your video files.

Media Offline not offline and unable to re-import sound and movie files

I'm getting the dreaded red Media Offline screen and I've tried everything to fix it. To explain I am working on a movie with sound and various bunches of still images imported as numbered stills to be automatically converted to a movie for an exhibition. All well and I was bringing the finished project into Encore when something happened... I don't know, maybe it's because all of the files are on an external hard drive (LaCie) and I had to plug into the LaCie another harddrive with my CS4 install files on it to install Encore... Whatever it was it broke the connection and even though all the files are still there Premiere can't see them. And when I try and re-import them it gives me the message "File video dimensions (width/height) too large" even though it is the same project. And it gives me the same message even with the sound file. From googling I have tried: deleting .xmp files on the HD, repairing disk admissions, creating a new project in Premiere and re-importing the files to see if that worked - didn't work, still kept up the same "File video...too large" message and this is even after..re-updating the software (up-to-date but re-installed it anyway).
I can only think of two other things: it's the hard drive or to get CS6 somehow. Can anyone suggest something else to fix?

Well it can't be a codec problem either as I am mostly only using jpegs in numbered stills. anyone help?
