No AC3/DTS pass-through option on my X-

As the title says, i miss the pass-through option in the console to pass the signal to an external decoder (the whole decoder section is missing). What's the problem? Please help.Message Edited by Nazgul9 on 06-0-2006 06:00 PM

Hey
I see what you mean, but I've sent AC3 streams through the X-Fi card many times. Any way, I'm not looking for decoding abilities, I want the SPDIF signal decoded in an external Klipsch GMX D-5. decoder. I bought the "X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatalty Pro". In entertainment mode the card works fine and I get AC3 from DVD streams read in the external decoder. But in gaming mode using the realtime AC3 software encoder I think theres a problem getting the SPDIF stream through. To be sure of this I headed for the Creative Audio Console and decoder tab, only that the whole section is removed from the console. Please tell me why this option is removed, it's such a frustration when you go ahead an spend alot of money getting a new card, and then basic options are gone.
Thanks for any help given.

  • Audio Pass-Through

In the Encoder Tab of the Inspector Window, there is a pulldown menu to the right of the "Audio Settings..." Button. There are 3 choices in this pull-down menu: Enabled, Disabled, and Pass-through.
What does the Pass-through option mean?
    My system:
    Dual G5 2.3GHz
    4.5 GB RAM
    OS 10.4.2
    FCP 5.0.2
    QT Pro 7.0.3
    Compressor 2.0.1
    massachi

Some of the transcoders allow you to pass the audio or video through without re-compressing or modifying the original state of the encoded data. That's what "Pass-through" does.
Thus, if your audio is already in the correct state (for example AAC) then pass-though will just take the original audio and add it (unmodified) to the output file.

  • How do you disable postscript pass-through using Mac OSX 10.6

My Phaser 4600DN prints quite slowly when printing a PDF, a 28 page documents takes nearly 7 minutes to print. On Windows 7 PC the same document takes 6 minutes to print. If I disable Postscript Pass-Through option on the driver the 28 page documents takes two minutes to print. I need to know if there is a similar option in Mac OS 10.6.8?

If, when printing to a Postscript printer, an app generates its own Postscript programme, it is possible for the printer driver to send it directly to the printer w/o any other modification; this is called Postscript pass-through. CUPS, the Mac OS X printing system, does allow for this option, but it is implemented in the printer driver, not the OS. So, whether or not disabling this option is available to you depends on the driver for your printer. Consult its docs or ask Xerox tech support.

  • "Pass Through" blending

How is it possible to achieve blending like "Pass Through" on
    a group in Photoshop CS2?
For example, if in Flash you have a background image and then
a Sprite object containing two images. The first image has a blend
mode of NORMAL and the second image has a blend mode of ADD. The
second image is partially overlapping the first image. If this
example were setup in Photoshop, it would be the background layer
and a group with two layers, the first with a blend mode of
"Normal" and the second with a blend mode of "Linear Dodge"
(additive). The group's blend mode is "Pass Through".
In Photoshop, the second (additive) layer is properly blended
with the first layer and the background layer. You can adjust the
opacity of the group and all becomes more transparent as expected.
In Flash, however, the two options I know for the Sprite
object are NORMAL and LAYER, but they don't exhibit the same
behavior as Photoshop's "Pass Through" option. With NORMAL, the
contained objects (images) aren't pre-composited, so an alpha of
50% will render the first image on the background, then the second
(additive) image on top of that. With LAYER, the images are
pre-composited, so the alpha applies to the whole, but the additive
image is only properly blended with the first image, but not the
background. (I'm aware this is because the pre-compositing buffer
    is initialized to black, and of course 0 + n = n.)
Does anyone know any way to achieve or emulate this "Pass
    Through" behavior in Flash?
I am developing for Flash Player 10.

These are things that you can do in After Effects. If you want these features in Premiere Pro, please submit a feature request

    Thanks

The SPDIF tab would be grayed out. I beli've?the spdif tab is options?for?front I/O?bay that comes with the?platinum and fatality.

  • Encoding Dolby Digital 5.1 (AC3) sound in MP4 files using AC3 pass-through

Looking for an application that will encode Dolby Digital 5.1 (AC3) sound in an .mp4 container using AC3 pass-through for playing videos with surround sound on ATV.
Handbrake is out of the question because I run Tiger. The Tiger version cannot do AC3 pass-through.
Visual Hub is no longer available.
    Any other options?

You may need Apple's MPEG2 QT plugin as well for MPEGStreamclip.
Also, consider if running windows in parallels/Boot Camp etc that there's a windows version, and possibly a linux version.
VisualHub code was released open source - Google FilRedux and PunyVid (iSquint derivative). Not tried either though.

  • AC3 pass through on Soundblaster Live! 24

    Hello,
i just bought a SB Li've! 24bit and i am searching the pass through "switch" for AC3 / DTS.
    Can anybody help me?
    THX
    Martin
P.S.: In my old card SB Li've! Value, i had a tool called audiohq, but now its gone...

thank you, but i have one other problem:
the li've 24bit has got a combined line in / sp-dif port? how can i change from line in to sp-dif?
    thx

  • Does the SB Live! 24bit External support AC3 and DTS pass-throuht on its SPDIF interfac

I know this card does not support hardware decode of AC3 & DTS, but does it has the capability to pass throuht the AC3/DTS signal to a external home theatre system ? Or only support PCM signal on it ?
    Thanks,

Thannks for your reply. The problem occurs when trying to play DTS audio CD, not DVD Audio. I've tried to play DTS audio both from the original DTS audio CD and from saved to the hard disk DTS audio tracks. In both cases the players ( Media Player Classic, WinDVD6, PowerDVD, JetAudio ) are configured to use S/PDIF, and the result is either noise or silence. When a player able to decode DTS is configured to play through soundcard's speakers then the sound is decoded and sent to the receiver as PCM and played as stereo. I would like to use the AV-Recei'ver as decoder and amplifier ( not only amplifier ), because of two reasons:. The?signal sent to the receiver as DTS audio is decoded and played as 5. channel audio. This is? exactly the same as playing DTS audio CD on the conventional DVD Player, connected to the AV receiver?through?the digital output. 2. The quality of the AV-Recei'ver is greater than the quality of the SondBlaster Li've! 24bit External, so it's much better to send digital signal to the receiver and leave it to decode, convert to analog and amplify the sound signal. The most interesting thing is that the same configuration containing?the software player, the SB Li've! and the AV Recei'ver connected through the S/PDIF recognizes, decodes and plays correctly the DTS/DD sound of DVD-Video titles played on the computer ... !?! :smileysurprised:

  • OSS, vmix and AC3 pass through

I've been battling OSS for a few weeks now.
I have an ALC889 motherboard chip, and oss-mercurial 4.1-3 package (from AUR installed).
    - Vmix works fine, goes through my optical jack out to my receiver, most apps and sounds play through fine, except for mkv, dvd, and any other file with an ac3/dts stream, no passthrough is done.  All i get is the static/white noise on both headphones and my DD-ready receiver
    - Turning off vmix allows ac3/dts to passthrough to the receiver, with headphones still getting the white noise.
I can live with this if this is the only way to get it to work, but I'm wondering if it's at all possible to get AC3/DTS passthrough working with OSS4 *with* vmix working.  Now i know that you cant play digital passthrough at the same time as a regular pcm/mp3 file, and i make sure i have shut off all other audio apps while playing an ac3 file, but it seems kind of a pain in the ass.
On my old nforce motherboard, which uses the nvidia soundstorm (based on OSS), the digital out always works, with ac3/dts passthrough and regular apps sharing the mixer nicely.
So basically I'm wondering is anyone else has OSS working with AC3 passthrough while using vmix, or if you are also having to go through this "turn vmix off, play ac3, turn vmix back on to go back to normal".
the only reason i dont leave vmix off is because skype-oss only works with vmix enabled on my system, so I have to always go through the process of turning vmix on/off, closing all sound apps, restart OSS, use the app I want, and turn vmix on/off again, and restart OSS again.
I'm not interested in "try alsa" solutions because that has its own can of worms for me that I'd rather avoid.
Using the latest kernel, oss-mercurial, sound otherwise works fine for all apps, it's just the ac3 passthrough that i'm trying to get to work in vmix.

thank you, but i have one other problem:
the li've 24bit has got a combined line in / sp-dif port? how can i change from line in to sp-dif?

  • ITunes 9 and Dolby 5.1 AC3 pass through doesn't work

I know that this is an old question. But for me, it still doesn't work. I can pass through Dolby Digital to my 5.1 Home Theater system in VLC Player or EyeTV without any problems. However, in iTunes it still doesn't work. When I select the surround audio track of movies purchased from iTunes, I get no audio at all or a completely silent Dolby 2.0 or 5.1 track. But I didn't manage to get real 5.1 sound. I tried to set the digital output to "Encoded Digital Audio" and selected 48 kHz which should match the right setting for movies. But it still doesn't work. What can I do? Thanks for your help!

    Re Checked it.
Only AAC stereo tracks on bought movies are 44,1 kHz.
    AC3 tracks are 48 kHz.

  • Guest LAN and DHCP Options not passing through

Managed to get the Guest LAN up and running for wired clients and all's working well.  Users are sat behind a proxy and if I force the use of a appropriate wpad file I can get the WLC auth to happen and then push off to the proxy.
I'm trying to use option 252 in DHCP to present the WPAD url.  Only issue that happens is that while the DHCP server on the egress interface is handing out addresses to clients on the ingress interface correctly, the WLC doesn't appear to be handing through the option 252 I have set in DHCP.  I've used network monitor to see what the dhcp request process is dishing out in terms of options, and all look good if I'm not behind the WLC.
Anyone know if theres a limitation on the WLC that prevents DHCP options being passed through to the guest LAN?
    TIA

When configured as a DHCP server, some of the firewalls do not support DHCP requests from a relay agent. The WLC is a relay agent for the client. The firewall configured as a DHCP server ignores these requests. Clients must be directly connected to the firewall and cannot send requests through another relay agent or router. The firewall can work as a simple DHCP server for internal hosts that are directly connected to it. This allows the firewall to maintain its table based on the MAC addresses that are directly connected and that it can see. This is why an attempt to assign addresses from a DHCP relay are not available and the packets are discarded. PIX Firewall has this limitation.

  • AC3/DTS audio on non-AC3/DTS system...

    Hello.
I'm running ATV OS 3.0.1 and recently I've been ripping my DVD/BR collection into iTunes. When I rip my DVD/BR discs, I include AC3/DTS audio. Right now I don't have a AC3/DTS speaker system, but since I plan to in the future, I figured it would be best to rip that way. I'm just using the analog stereo cables (right/left) from the ATV to my TV and assume there's some downconverting built into the ATV to handle this?
Anyway, the problem I'm having is that the voices when people speak are usually really hard to hear, while the rest of the sound (music, FX, etc.) is way loud. So, we end up cranking the volume when we can't hear people talking, then the next scene is some action scene and the volume is crazy loud.
Does anyone know what might be wrong/a possible solution?
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    k.

    kristin. wrote:
Sorry, let me clarify, for the sake of these boards. These are home movies I'm ripping, not commercial. Since I assume I'm dealing with AAC stereo (since I'm getting sound and I don't have a system capable of AC-3) we can ignore DTS and maybe WC will go away.
i'm sure you will want sir winston on board, as he is very knowledgeable when it comes to TV matters
So — back to the issue, which I'll now consider a stereo issue. I'm using handbrake to rip my home movies, using one of the ATV presets. When I'm speaking in my home movies, my voice is low in the mix (it's not this way when I watch my home movie from the DVD I burned myself at home).
Any idea's why this would be?
i have similar experiences when playing movies through my TV alone (via HDMI). however, once audio goes via optical to my surround receiver, the output is just as it's supposed to be.
my guess is is you won't know until you get that speaker system. AFAIK, the TV is able to pass whatever audio it is receiving through via optical.
please correct me if i'm wrong !

  • Static NAT pass-through; can not get to work

I am not having any luck getting a static NAT pass-through to work.
BM3.8/NW6.5 all patched to the latest patches (no betas). IPFLT is NOT
    loaded.
My internal network on one LAN all have 10.100.xxx.xxx private addresses.
    Dynamic NAT works great.
I have secondary public IP addresses bound to my public NIC. Static NAT
mapping between the secondary public IP addresses and the couple of
individual private addresses work just fine. In other words, all has been
    working fine.
I need to give one of those internal resources its public IP address
(change it's private to its public).
OK, I went into the NAT table and changed the proper public <-> private to
public <-> public (identical addresses). I changed the internal computer
to it's public address/mask with the same default gateway the server is
using. The internal computer can now only ping itself; can't even ping
it's default gateway. I did reinitialize, and also restarted. I can not
get the pass-through connection to work.
Any thoughts will be well received.

  • X240 - is there audio pass-through when using a miniDP to HDMI?

I have an X240, which I love, but now that I've cut my cable cord and am going with Netflix and other on-line streaming options, I'd like to be able to view my streaming programs on my TV.  Can I use a cable or adapter to go from the miniDP (on the X240) to my HDMI (on my TV) and get audio as well as video?  I understand my laptop needs to have an "audio pass-through" for that to work --- I don't know what it is, but I'd like to know if this one's got it.  I bought the laptop online in Dec 2013, if that makes a difference.
(Yes, I could stream Netflix from a gadget like Chromecast, but that will only get me Netflix Canada, whereas using a VPN on my computer I can get Netflix from other countries too.)

refreshing this discussion!   I've tried a mini DP to HDMI dongle with an HDMI-HDMI cable to the TV - and I get video but no audio.  My computer recognizes the TV as present as as audio playback device, but no audio is transmitted through TV or computer. when it's plugged in.  Of course I still get audio from the computer's speakers when it's not plugged in
