No access to iDisk?

I can't understand Apple's logic to create this new iWork.com to share documents but yet not to support access the $99/year iDisk. Life will be much easier if I can just get my documents from the iDisk.

I have submitted the feature request. I, too, find the inability to use iDisk extremely limiting. The iPad would be much more functional on the road if direct access to iDisk was possible. iDisk does work as a viewer only and the only way you can get a file is to email it from iDisk to an email account on your iPad. But then you can't get it back into iDisk without first emailing it to an account on a regular computer. Too many unnecessary steps. You can use iWorks.com, but this is a sharing site, not a private site. Also, it's going to be another pay site once it's out of beta. Yes, some of us are already paying for iDisk, but it seems this might not be enough. Then again, Apple may enable iDisk access if enough people do submit the feature request. You do need to make the feature request, as this forum is not monitored for this purpose by Apple.

  • Unable to access my iDisk

Since sometime in mid June, I have been unable to access my iDisk. I believe it started shortly after applying 10.4.10. I had a local copy that kept saying "Sync Failed". It turn off my local iDisk and tried to re-establish it - no lock. I have removed files, rebooted, cleared keychain and many other suggestions from other posts. 3 days ago I updated my iBook to 10.4.10 and it started having the same problem. I took it to the Genius bar tonight and of course it started working!
But I had a nice conversation with the Genius who gave me a few suggestions to try for my G5. Well they don't work.
I cannot even get my iDisk to map without making a local copy!

  • I've migrated from MobileMe to iCloud - can I still access my iDisk on my Mac and how?

I've just migrated from MobileMe to iCloud and have noticed that iDisk on my Mac has disappeared. Is there still a way for me to access my iDisk on my Mac? Can I still sync with it before MobileMe is canceled altogether (June 2012)?
    Thanks in advance!

iDisk is not a feature of iCloud.
However, just log back into MobileMe in the MobileMe system preferences pane and your iDisk will be accessible again.

  • HT4759 I cant access my iDisk because of MobileMe

I cant access my iDisk because of MobileMe. I need to clean it out so that I can have more space for Adobe.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
iDisk was withdrawn many months back, anything you might have had in it has gone.

  • ALL Finder Files Disappeared • Blinking Menu Bar • No Access to iDisk

There have been a chain of events within the last week that makes me so mad with Apple. In March 2008, I had spent £2,000 on the top of the line MacBook Pro (one of many machines I own, all mac).
    1. Six days ago, ALL files and folders disappeared from the Desktop without trace.
    2. Two days ago, the right hand side of the Menu Bar started blinking on & off.
    3. Two days ago, I have not had access to my iDisk.
    1. No other reports to offer. I looked around for the files but they were nowhere to be seen.
    2. Mac user since 1991. I own various machines but this particular problem lies with a MacBook Pro 2008 using 10.5.4
The laptop has two users. One is fine while one is not. A new user was created but upon logging in for the first time the right hand side of the menu bar blinked off and on just like the existing user. No hard drives have been connected. All files backed up via drag and drop wirelessly.
    3. Since this development I have been unable to get to my iDisk; it might be related or coincidental with problem number 2. Last night I re-entered my .mac/MobileMe account details whereupon I was presented with a message saying the machine had not synced before. Not true. It had been syncing automatically since the day of purchase March 2008. I wonder if there is a connection between somewhere deep down in the Library, updated versions for 10.5.4 and MobileMe. Somewhere along the line a combination of events triggered the tool bar to start blinking...
It's strange how one user is fine (seldom used and DOES NOT have a MobileMe account) while the main one, me, is not fine (used heavily throughout the day and DOES have an active MobileMe account).
At this point, I don't intend to re-install and start all over again (I've done this so many times with other machines over the years that I was hoping those days had finally gone based upon Apple's brilliant recent advancements).
I don't care nor wish to hear about backing al files up with Time Machine (I back up regularly), I would like to get to the point of understanding why any or all of the aforementioned problems happened in the first place so it doesn't happen again.
Many thanks for any help or comments in advance

Try starting in "Safe Mode" (It will take more time to startup in Safe Mode because it runs a directory check.)
Now test. If that works go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items, and remove them. Boot normally and test. If not go to ~(yourHome)/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Then do the same with /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Lastly, try moving ~(yourHome)/Library/Fonts to your desktop and restarting.
Log out/in or restart, if that sorts it start putting items back one at a time until you find the culprit.

  • I cannot access my idisk, I used the password I used to log into my user name but it is still not working. Please help!

I tried several times since I bought my macbook pro to log into my idisk. My password for my user name does not work. I am clueless about what to do next.

You need to turn the phone off and leave it in dry rice for 3-5 days. Then, plug it in and charge it for about 15 minutes and then try to turn it on. If it doesn't work at that point, it will be time to get a new phone.

  • Receiving a FAX or allowing PC user access to idisk file

    Hello everyone,
I work with someone who uses a PC and Outlook Express and I need to be able to receive her appointment schedule in some manner. I have Verizon DSL, I followed the Help instructions to set up my ibook to receive a fax and connected a cable from the modem on the ibook to the modem connection on my power strip but when she sends me a fax my ibook doesn't recognize it and stays in idle mode. I tried to set up a place on my idisk that she could put the schedule but it puts some photos in there from another homepage that I have and I can't figure out how she can put anything there.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. We have resorted to snail mail arrrrrgh!!
    Thanks,
    Anna

I know, that would be simple but apparently Outlook Express doesn't allow her to do that. She can print it and that's why we thought setting my ibook up to receive a fax would work.
    Thanks anyway,
    Anna

  • Installed 10.6.3 - now cannot access idisk.

The icon in the Finder window for idisk now just spins and spins and I cannot access its content.
Disconnecting from the network doesn't resolve the issue either - iDisk just goes on spinning and spinning.
    Any fixes out there?

    HI,
Open System Preferences/MobileMe then click the Account tab.
If you are signed in already, click the "Sign Out" button on the right, then sign back in.
    Then try accessing your iDisk.
If you did not repair disk permissions after updating 10.6.3, then do that now.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • IDisk access on MacBook Pro/Lion?

I have just been asked to access some job files on an iDisk Public Folder. I'm using a recent MacBook Pro w/Lion 10.7.2. IDisk does not seem to be available via the "Go" pulldown on my Desktop. Is there an install/download to perform to access an iDisk? It has always been part of the OS on my recent devices. Suggestions appreciated -I have to start this job asap.
    Thanks

You would need a .mac account to get the iDisk on your menu. If you have a .mac/MobileMe account, sign on in System Preferences. Otherwise, use: https://public.me.com/membername Note that the person providing the iDisk will have to grant you extra privileges for write/upload access.

  • Idisk not showing up in Safari when accessing through the webpage

When I login to dotmac, and access my idisk (the first time), it shows all files and folders. But, if I am to close that window, then immediately attempt to reopen idisk, it shows a blank page.
Using Firefox, this does not happen. All works all the time. But, I want to use Safari.
Originally, I was using 3.0.3 beta and was told by dotmac help that it wasn't supported. I then reinstalled 2.0.4, but with the same results. I have tried resetting the browser, deleting the cache, and so on, but still have this problem.
    Thanks in advance,
    John C.

I understand, QuicktimeKirk. However, when on the road, I sometimes only have access to (gasp!) a windows machine, which of course doesn't have access to the finder.
BTW, this apparently is a widespread issue with Safari. The dotmac help gang escalated this issue, and they have acknowledged the problem, and have sent it on to the programmers for a solution.

  • TS1398 problems to access Idisk using my Ipad

I have access to a Wi-fi internet, but my Ipad can't access the Idisk, even sync with my MacBook. I'm trying to sync the Ipad and Mac using the  app "papars" without success also.
What is happening? What can I do?

  • IDisk Public folder access

I'm attempting to give others browser access to my public folder. Everything works per the directions below except that the public folder password doesn't work. It's necessary to use my dot-Mac password to reach my public folder! Has anyone else seen this?
"Mac or Windows users who are not MobileMe members can access your iDisk by opening a web browser and entering: public.me.com/[YourMemberName], and if necessary, entering your Public folder password."

I have the exact problem mentioned above.
I have changed my System Preferences — MobileMe — iDisk — Your iDisk Public Folder — Password-protect your public folder PASSWORD to a NEW PASSWORD that is not my ACCOUNT PASSWORD and it won't take.
I have tried to access my public folder with the NEW PASSWORD but it only responds to my ACCOUNT PASSWORD.
I've reset it the password many times, restarted many times and have tried accessing the public folder through Safari and Firefox.
I'd prefer to have a separate password for my public folder.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

  • 10.4.4: Can't mount .dmg files or access iDisk

Shortly after updating to 10.4.4 I noticed that my daily automated backups (using Backup 3) weren't working any more. I also found that I couldn't access the iDisk via the Finder icon, or via the Go > iDisk > My iDisk option in Finder. I can still upload to my iDisk using iWeb.
I'm now also unable to mount .dmg files. When I open them in Finder or try to mount them using Disk Utility I get an error message saying that there are 'no child processes'.
What can I do about these issues? Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Solved , by installing the 10.4.4 combo update!
