No accounts appearing in Notes on iMac.
I checked the Notes on my iPhone 6 plus & iPad Air and they show accounts and the correct information. When I open Notes on my iMac, it's blank. I checked the accounts setting on Notes on my iMac and it shows my iCloud & email account. I only have the iCloud account box checked for Notes, the box for Notes is unchecked for my email account. I have attempted to set a default account in Notes, but that section is grayed out like I have no accounts set up, but I do have two accounts set up. Just noticed the issue today, checked Notes a few days ago and everything was fine.
Restarted computer & cleared all history in Safari. One of the two solved the problem, I'm leaning toward the restart.

ICloud Account appears twice in Calendar & Notes
A few of my iCloud Accounts appears twice in Calendar & Notes but when I go to system preferences I see them only once.
So, in both applications I see all duplicated — I can deselect a calendar in iCal but it's more annoying in Notes where you can't click what you want to see.
When I want to go and delete the duplicate account from the main preferences I only see each account once.
Crazy, huh?On the iCloud website I see everything alright, one of each, no duplicates.
On my Mac:
- Notes, no notes at all...
- iCal: no duplicates, but I see a few calendars twice. When I click Preferences - Accounts, I see no duplicate accounts!
- Address Book is a mess, some contacts appear like seven times, I looked for duplicates and merge them many times.

OPen Keychain Access & see if you have more than 2 entries for each eMail account.

When I read an email on the internet or iPhone, it does not appear read on my iMac. Same if I delete an email on the internet or iPhone, it does not delete it on my iMac.
Thanks for your help, do you know if I can change my hotmail to IMAP? Quick search of the internet and it doesn't seem possible, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot.

On 2011 iMac, External Altec Lansing speakers no longer work after upgrading to Mountain Lion.
They DO work on a lenovo machine but not my iMac. reset Pram - no luck. took speakers from wife's desktop, they
do not work when jack plugged into my iMac - Sys Prefs "SOUND" only lists "internal speakers/ built in" as available options.
I used my altec lansing speakers on 3 macs including this one for 5-6 years.....now with Mountian Lion I can only get internal speakers???

When you start Messages fro the first time you are asked for an Apple ID
When this is verified and entered it appears in Messages Menu > Preference > Accounts and is Enabled.
The App should have also picked on on those iChat Accounst you had before.
These should be Enabled if they were when you last used iChat.
Exactly which "Accounts" are logged in can be seen in Message Menu > Accounts and will include the iMessage "Account" and Bonjour.
In the Window menu you will see CMD +0 for the Messages window and CMD+1 for the "Buddies" window which is a combined list at this stage.
Go to the Preferences > General Section and Untick the "Collect all accounts into one list".
This will give you separate iChat type Buddy lists.
You can check if that account/Buddy list is set to Invisible or if in the Preferences > Accounts > Security you have settings that will block some people from seeing you as On line.
You are saying Buddies can see you as On Line which implies they are still sending to your AIM based Names (@Mac.com is a valid AIM Screen Name)
I am not sure from your post if you are trying to iMessage their email IDs thinking they are Apple IDs and that they are using Messages as well.
There is no Buddy list for iMessages side
No-one can tell you are "On Line" until they have your details in the "To" spot in Messages with the correct iMessaged contact info (iPhone Number or Apple ID)
Obviously an Apple ID can be an email or look like one.
In some cases they are also valid AIM Screen Names as well.
In the case or the @mac.com name you may have linked this Apple ID to iMessages as well.

When I quit Photoshop CS6, the following message appears:
" Could not save Preferences because the file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file. If the problem persists, save the document to a different file or duplicate it in the Finder."
If I try to change the Workspace in PS6 from Essentials to any other Workspace, the following messsage appears:

I have checked the Sharing and Permissions section of the "Get Info" panel accessed from the Finder and I have set Read and Write Privileges for my user account for Photoshop CS6. System and Admin are also set to Read and Write.
I have a MacBook Pro with OS X Version 10.9.5 and have all available updates for Photoshop CS6, Lightroom 5 and Bridge CS6.
I tried uninstalling the program and downloading it again and reinstalling, but nothing changed.
Can you help?

Can't use Calendar: Access to account "iCloud" is not permitted.
I recently have been experiencing this error:
The server responded with an error.
Access to account “iCloud” is not permitted.
The server responded:
“403”
to operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation.
It occurs repeatedly every two seconds and I can't get the dialog to dismiss or go away. My calendars work on fine on my iPhone 6 and iPad mini but on the mac, it gives this error. I tried creating a new user account on the mac, starting fresh but as soon as I log into iCloud and then open calendar, the dialog is back. I suspect there is something wrong on the server site of things. I had some fradulent charges on my iCloud account that Apple cleared up for me. Then they disabled my account (I guess this is something they do when a dispute occurs) and I've had to contact them twice to get them to clear it up. This error started to appear around the same time. I also tried to update to Yosemite but that didn't fix it either. I've deleted all my calendars and created a new one via iCloud.com. Still there. I've found some others online who have had the same issue without success. Is there any hope to get the calendar working again? Help!?Alex,
Quit Calendar, turn off your internet connection, then paste this text ~/Library into the Finder Menu>Go>Go to Folder...window and select "Go." This will open the Users Library Folder.
Open the Calendars Folder which is in that Library Folder, and move any any files with "Cache" listed in the name field to your Desktop.
Next open the Preferences Folder in that same Library Folder and move the com.apple.iCal.plist file to the Desktop.
Log out/in or restart reconnect the internet and open Calendar. -
How do I get my itunes to recognize my account, it seems to be stuck on my friend account even when my ID show up as sign in, only when I try to update an App, that my friend account appear. I try to reset it on the computer and the phone itself, but no luck. Please advise

The Touch Copy third party software for PC's is the way to go it seems and although the demo is free, if you have over 100 songs then it costs £15 to buy the software which seems not a lot to pay for peace of mind. and restoring your iTunes library back to how it was.

HT3228 How can an email notication from my account appear on another mac?
I was sitting with a supplier, and as we were working an email notification from my email account appeared on her desktop.
We have set her up with an email address with our business, but she is a supplier, and totally unconnected - even on a different site.
I have confronted her, and asked if she is hacking into my company emails, and she denies any knowledge.
She has asked a technical adviser, who says 'it could be a technical glitch' but I am not sure.
I think she has set up my email account by guessing the formula we use for passwords.
Can anyone help? Have you experienced this? Can you back up the 'technical glitch' explanation?
(We use POP accounts on MacMail).your mail provider or IT dept may be able to provide records of connections to the account, which you can check against your own access.
Assuming you mean that her Mail application showed an email addressed to you & no-one else - then it sounds as if you ought to change all passwords & ask whoever admins company email to confirm that it wasn't somehow sent to her account too, unlikely though that seems. -
I just bought an iPad 2 - I plugged it in to my home PC and downloaded a couple of apps using my wife's iTunes account. Since I bought the device for work, I then set up my own iTunes account on my office PC. The problem I am having is that none of the apps I downloaded in the new account appear on my iPad. I can see them on screen #2 in iTunes and I know how to swipe to get to that screen.
I've tried everything mentioned - I authorized my office computer (but not my home one - could this be the problem?). I turned on home network file sharing. Checked to make sure parental controls are off. I'm not sure what to do next.When you installed iTunes on your work computer, then connected your iPad to that computer, it wiped what was on the iPad, then put the iTunes library (nothing) from the work computer onto the iPad. You can try copying the iTunes folder from your home computer over to your work computer, but since the apps were bought with a different account, they may not load or update properly.

Some sent mails do not appear/are not saved in "sent messages" and are lost
i work with mail and 4 different imap accounts. about every 15th sent email "gets lost". i.e. i can follow the sending process in the activity window, and i hear the sending confirmation tone. and, usually, the mails even reach the receiver. BUT, the mails do not appear/are not saved in the "sent messages" folder and are lost. this is very unsettling, as there seems to be no recognizable pattern. can anyone help, or should i change to "entourage"? big thanks for replies

I, too, have had this intermittent issue and wonder if you had found a solution?
In the past 3 weeks, two messages have been sent from my mac mail account, using the mail application (the only apparent common factor being that both messages had iphoto attachments), the recipients have received them - only I do not have a copy in my 'sent' folder.
They are not stored on the macintosh server either...
I have not altered any settings and this intermittent issue has just emerged.
Any help from 'Top Users' would be welcome. Thanks. -

KenWe previously had a similar issue when migrating multiple accounts from MobileMe to iCloud. The issue was resolved by disabling and then enabling iCal sync through iCloud on our iMacs in System Preferences.
Always backup your calendar before troubleshooting (File > Export > iCal Archive).
The following steps are roughly from a Apple Support Community discussion.
Open iCloud in System Preferences.
Switch off (uncheck) iCal sync in iCloud System Preferences pane.
Backup iCal before doing this. You will need to remove calendar data.
Open iCal and verify the iCloud account is removed in the iCal preferences under accounts.
Close iCal, reopen System Preference and switch on (check) iCal sync in iCloud System Preferences pane.
Reopen iCal and verify the iCloud account is enabled in the iCal preferences under accounts.
At this point if the problem persists you might try completely signing out of iCloud and then signing back in. But remember to backup all related data (iCal, Contacts, Mail, Photostream, etc) before turning off iCloud sync! -
I have a user who's Active Directory password is going to expire. I had her reset her password by going to apple > system prefs > user > and clicking change password. She received the error "The password for the account "account name" was not changed. Your system administrator may not allow you to change your password or there was some other problem with your password. Contact your system administrator for help."
I had her change her password via the kpasswd command in terminal and that changed her password on the server sucessfully however the laptop has FileVault on it. Filevault is not recognizing the new password just the old password.
I have deleted the keychain which didn't resolve and now I am going to decrypt and reencrypt the drive. I'm hoping this is an isolated issue I have over 25 laptops configured like this.I "think" the trick was unbinding and rebinding the computer account.
After unencrypting and trying to reencrypt Filevault would still not take the new password.
Rebooted the prompt to update the keychain appeared. Updated the keychain. Filevault would still not take the new password.
Unbinded and rebinded the computer account. It worked and let me add the user to filevault. -

I concluded that iCloud has no problem with identical events seperated by time, so the question becomes what is wrong with your setup as opposed to what is wrong with iCloud. -
My Account Account Transactions does not show all transactions
I set up a test Webtools site based on OEC Computers backend db and created a WT user linked to Account C41000.
When logged in using this user I see that
there are three transactions dated in 2005 on that account which did not come accross to WT in the Account Transactions display however current transactions dated in 2008 are being pulled accross fine.
Does anyone know if there is a restriction on the records pulled across on initial synch or if there are additional criteria in play here?by way of note ....
the missing 2005 invoices do appear when I log in as a superuser in the Business Partners>Transactions>Invoices screen.
