No ActionScript 3 support for Slide Presentations?

I noticed that in CS3, the Slide Presentation format does not
support AS3. I have searched every inch of the web including this
Adobe site, and I can't find any information on this. Is Adobe
ending it's development and/or support of Slide based Flash? Is
Adobe fazing out the Slide Presentation format?
Although I am not a big fan of Slides, I am directed to
develop courseware using it... So, this is a very important
question for future development.
Any Comments on this?

Simple, I always upgrade flash, and upgrade my knowlegd about
new features. I did it from as1 to as2, and I'm trying to do this
to AS3. But, some features are disapeared like, accordion, slide
presentation classes,
I know that AS3 is better ans faster, so, I need more reasons
to want migrate to it?

  • External Projector for Slide presentation on iPhoto 09

I need assistance in using an external projector for a slide presentation of my pictures. I can not get the pictures to project. I can do Keynote presentations with no problems with the same settings. thank you for your help...

    Welcome to Apple Discussions Alejandro,
iPhoto does not support slideshow play back on a secondary display like keynote does. iPhoto always displays the slideshow on the primary display. There are a few ways you can get around this:
1.) Export your slideshow as a Quicktime Movie and play it in Quicktime or iTunes
-- File > Export > Slideshow -- Check off "Display" and "Automatically send slideshow to iTunes"
-- Once your slideshow (now a movie) is in iTunes you can move itunes to your second display (or projector) and then play
2.) Change the primary display from the computer display to the projector
-- You can tell your computer to display on the projector first by changing your display preferences
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301408#3
-- Go to Apple > System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement > Drag the small white bar from the current display (which is your computer) to the secondary display (which is your projector)
    -- Now play your slideshow
3.) Set your computer to use mirroring ( I don't like this option because you lose your primary display for the duration of the slideshow
    -- Go to Apple > System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement >Mirror
    -- Now play your slideshow
    Hope that helps!

  • Scaling image files for Slide presentation in Keynote

I have had great problems importing and scaling images for Keynote presentations with approx 500+ images. Having tried to adjust the image to fit the full screen the scaling results in unacceptable pixelation. I seem to have solved this now by batch processing my image files and saving them as PDF files. These are then imported from the Aperture Library as iPhoto wont recognise the PDF file format!
It's a pity that Keynote has so many restrictions for use in Slide/music presentations, having seen incredible professional results with Pic2exe (which unfortunately at present is not available in Mac format - tho the Win exe file will run I am told).

Please tell us what you are really trying to do!!
You know like dumb stuff like where are the images from? What's their resolution? If you';re using Aperture you can't be a newbie.
You can achieve incredible professional results in Keynote, but you need to know how it wants to work.

  • Need help choosing Software for a Slide Presentation

I'd really appreciate some advice....I need to make a slide presentation with an audio soundtrack. There don't need to be any fancy special effects as the slides transition. A simple fade in & out is all I'm looking for. All I need is for some of the slides to show longer than others (maybe 6-8 secs. vs 3-4 secs. for the rest.) There are about 250-300 slides which I have in i-photo and the soundtrack will be 4 tracks I have in i-tunes. I need to be able to burn the presentation onto a DVD once it's assembled. Will the Keynote application in i-works do this or should I use something else?
Any help would be most appreciated.
    Thx in advance, Malco

Welcome to the discussion boards, malcoinc . It sounds like what you want to do would best be accomplished from within iPhoto itself, using its slideshow functionality -- I believe it has all the capabilities you are looking for, including sending the slideshow directly to iDVD once it is completed. I'd suggest reading the iPhoto documentation on this feature before considering moving to some other solution, as anything else is likely to be more complex.

    FWIW,
Adobe keeps a quarterly release schedule for RAW updates. The current Lightroom 4.4 RC expires on 5/31/2013 which typically is an indication that the official release will be close to that date. According to the current list of new supported cameras, the Nikon D7100 is not slated to be supported (but that could change on release).
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lightroom4-4/?tabID=details#tabTop
The most likely time frame for Adobe support of the D7100 will be sometime in August or September 2013 (although there will probably be a Lightroom 4.5 RC available prior to that for testing purposes).

  • Can you make a page layout and use multiple pictures on one page for a slide presentation?

I thought I remebered seeing a tutorial on how to make page layouts for use in your slide presentations. I can not find this now. I am using the theme of scrapbook but have several pictures that should go together on one page or frame. I do not have iphoto11. So I am more limited I think. I do not have time to upgrade at this point. Is there anyway to customize my slide presentation in this way?

    Log Message:
Add support for dataTips to Slider
SDK-16291 Implement data tip for slider
    - Added new dynamic, optional skin part called "dataTip".
    - Added dataTipFormatFunction, dataTipPrecision and showDataTip properties
    - Added protected function positionDataTip
    - Added dataTip skin part to FxHSliderSkin and FxVSliderSkin
    - data tip is an IDataRenderer, so it can render any type of data
The data tip appearance is defined entirely by the skin. The position of the
data tip is calculated using a combination of the skin and the Slider controller.
The following properties were not retained from the Halo Slider:
    - sliderDataTipClass (the skin part allows the developer to define the data tip type)
    - dataTipStyleName (styling is defined on the skin part)
    - dataTipOffset (the offset position is defined in the skin part)
SDK-16823 - Gumbo Slider does not support scroll wheel to increment / decrement value
Slider listens for scroll wheel events anywhere on or off the stage while it has focus.

You can use the aleft right rrow keys, but for some reason (bug), they dont follow the focus with the , and ., so you still need to click on the sliders to move the focus from one setting to another if you prefer to use the arrows.

  • Cs3 slide presentation convert to html5 in cs6

I've made several websites in Flash CS3 with a Flash slide presentation on a Windows 7 platform. Now i wish to convert them in Flash CS6 to html5 with toolkit for createJS. I recieve the following notice: Documents with slides and forms by this Flash version is not supported. Open this document in an earlier version.  Is there anyone who can help me with this problem because i really want to convert my slide presentation to html5 , otherwise the sites are not visable on a Apple i-phone or i-pad. Thank you. Nikolien from the Netherlands

Thank you for your answer. Is there any way to publish my cs3 slide presentation with actionscript 3?
I've manage to convert such a slide presentation to html 5 with toolkit for createJS but that file contained only one slide.
Maybe is there a possibility to create one slide from a file that contains several slides?
Or are you saying that there is no way to convert this slide presentation to html5 at all?

  • Video playback issue for Adobe Presenter 9 when publishing to Adobe Connect Pro 7

    Hello!
I am having an issue with video playback for Adobe Presenter 9. When I preview the presentation on my computer there are no issues with any of the MP4 videos that I have loaded into my presentations. However, when I publish the presentation to Adobe Connect and access the URL the videos are either delayed or do not appear at all.  We are using our own Adobe server which we purchased in 2008, along with Adobe Connect Pro 7. We recently updated our Adobe Presenter software to version 9. Is there an incompatibility issue between Adobe Presenter 9 and our current Adobe Server/current version of Adobe Connect? Or do I need to do something different in Adobe Presenter when importing the videos?  Note: I have tried FLV videos and had the same issue.
We are trying to launch of series of webinars (each webinar has between 15-42 slides), which was the whole purpose of updating our Adobe Presenter and Adobe Captivate software....hopefully we can resolve this video issue.
    Thanks!
    Dana

Connect 7 didn't support MP4 video content, as I recall. Another issue is that Connect rooms are using Action Script 2 (AS2) while Presenter 9 uses AS3, and the two code languages don't play well together. You don't mention if you are using the meeting application to display the presentation, but it is worth mentioning. If the presentations are stand alone, then the AS3 issue should be non-existent, but the MP4 support may be.
Is there a reason you haven't updated the Connect software to Connect 9 (or at least Connect 8.1 where the Connect application became AS3 as a whole and supported MP4 content)?

    Presentation Vs.
    > Timeline Document development using actionscript 2.0
I'm interested in this, too. (Thanks for bringing up the
    topic!) My
guess, however, is that you won't see a flood of feedback.
    The timeline
metaphor is deeply engrained in the Flash developer mindset.
    Building a
slide presentation-based movie (the relatively new "screens
    feature") just
doesn't feel like working in Flash. I don't think many people
    use
screens -- though maybe it's too early to tell. I could be
    completely off
base, of course, and I welcome friendly dissenters.
I think Macromedia was hoping to appeal to the Visual Studio
    crowd with
screens. I'm curious to see how Adobe continues the idea. In
    any case, at
present, there's a kind of ActionScript mini-framework that
    gets added to
screens-based SWFs. This framework is what allows screens to
    behave like
screens rather than timelines. It is important to realize,
    however, that
all SWFs are, in the end, SWFs. The screens metaphor is no
    more "real" than
the timeline metaphor is. Both are just user interfaces to
    translate our
human instructions into something the Flash Player can
    understand.
I don't much care for the fact that this framework adds 27KB
    to a SWF
before anything else is even added. Start a new Slideshow
    Presentation and
immediately test the SWF (Control > Test Movie). In the
    resulting Flash
Player window, select View > Bandwidth Profiler to see how
    much the SWF
weighs. Do the same with a normal Flash document and compare
    the two.
To answer your specific bullet points:
    - Stability
I have no opinion here, I'm afraid. I simply haven't
    produced enough
screens-based SWFs to make a fair assessment.
    - Range
Not sure what you mean, here. Are you asking if
    screens-based SWFs can
    be bigger, hold more content?
    - Limitations
The end result in either case is a SWF, and a SWF is what it
    is.
    - Preference
I prefer the timeline metaphor because I've been using it
    since Flash 3.
I use Flash for everything from applications to cartoons to
    video, so in my
    workflow, timelines makes more sense.
    - Experience
Very little experience with screens (because I don't care
    for them).
Plenty of experience with Flash in general.
    - Pros
I would imagine -- and I can only imagine -- that some
    people prefer the
"slides" format. To me, it feels like PowerPoint, which I
    don't much care
    for.
    - Cons
The aforementioned extra SWF weight. 27KB isn't a deal
    breaker, and
it's certainly less bulky than any of the v2 UI Components,
    but ehh. For
what that's worth, I think it's a con. My programming skills
    have matured
along with the phenomenal advances in ActionScript in recent
    years. I
crossed a milestone back in Flash MX, I think, where Flash's
    under-the-hood
mechanisms really started "clicking" with me. (To be sure,
    the learning
process never ever stops ... I'm *still* learning, and things
    are *still*
clicking for me, but I digress.) To me, the screens metaphor
    introduces a
new (in my opinion, unnecessary) layer of abstraction to a
    lean-but-powerful
environment I already know and love.
    - Accuracy
Not sure what you mean here.
    - Problems
I don't use screens often enough.
    - Errors
    Ditto.
    - Likes
This is reflected in my views on Pros and Cons.
    - Dislikes
    Ditto.
    - Load Balancing
Again, not sure what you mean.
    - Customization
    Good question!
    - Coding Development/Programming
None of the programming books I've read even touch screens.
    - Control
    Control of what?

I have a slide presentation that I created that uses arrows or the spacebar to click from slide to slise. Now the client wants it to play automatically with no user interaction required. Does anyone know how to convert this? I'm in Flash CS4.
    Thanks!

If you are using AS3 then add following code. The initial code generates timer of 1 second. Add your code for moving to next slide inside function "timerHandler()" and you should be done.
    var myTimer:Timer = new Timer(1000);
        myTimer.addEventListener("timer", timerHandler);
        myTimer.start();
        function timerHandler(event:TimerEvent):void {
