No active mixer devi

I upgraded to XP SP2. No more sound. I updated drivers starting with the Computers disk, then Microsoft web then Creative web. No luck. The device shows up without conflicts but when you attempt to play any sound error msg. abound. I am at a loss. Have a PCI 28 Soundblaster. Anyone with any clues? Could my card have gone bad at the same time I upgraded?

I would be thinking seriously about uninstalling every trace of that cards drivers, and reinstalling from the newest you can over again.
There is a program out there called "Driver Cleaner" Which does claim to remove all creative audio drivers in one big swoop. Read all their help files first...

Ting,
You will get this error when the source system mapping is not done correctly in the target system. Basis has t omake these settings. This error occurs especially when you move Datasources from Dev > QA > Prod. Basis has to make the settings so that when datasource moves from Dev system to QA system the source system ID has to be changed to target system id.
In your case UTCCLNT130 has to be changed to > QA system id. This generally happens when you are plugging new source system to BI system which was never used before in BI and when its first time your transporting objects.
On activation of standard content, we have to install BI content in Dev system, collect them in transport and move to target system. We should not be installing BI content objects in Q or Prod directly

No active mixer devices, no sound, no audio devices

HP Pavilion dv5000, Windows XP Home Edition pre-installed. Have searched all over; seems to be a common problem but none of the available solutions I could find have worked (save for system restore, to which I haven't yet resorted).

This may be an old reply, but I wouldn't advise a system restore. Tech support told my friend to do this with his laptop and it never worked the same again, i.e. made the situation worse. He was trying to get a high spec game to play better, but after tech supports suggestion of system restore no game worked, i.e. were so slow that were un playable.

No active mixer devices found - lost my sound on Sat Pro A100

I need advice/help on how i can restore my sound,
I have a Sat Pro A100 series PSAACE-007002EN and have lost my sound. I may have deleted this upon doing an AOL spyware check and didn't give me the option to backup the file.
All I have is the sound start up for windows and if i'm on msn and i get prompted to talk then that sound is given, too. I have lost the notification sound to my aol login/log off and email notification. I cannot hear sound playing my music either.

You will need to re-install your sound device/drivers. You may find them on your Tools and Utilities CD (if you have one) or alternatively you can download the appropriate drivers (there are different ones depending on which model of notebook you have) from the Toshiba download site :-

Audigy 2 value: No active mixer devices availa

My Specs:
Windows XP Pro
SP (SP2 disables many of my App's)
AMD Athlon XP 800+ .49 GHz
52 mb Ram

Here is the problem. I purchased the Audigy 2 Value card, because I simply wanted to upgrade my sound capabilities.
I think that I am a pretty competent computer geek.
I've done all the uninstalling and deleting and registry cleaning, disabling the onboard sound chips in the Bios, and pretty much everything that Creative, and Microsoft say's need to be done when installing a new sound card.

The problem is that everything in the system acknowledge's that there is a new sound card installed, but when you try to get sound or go into the Control panel to the "Sounds and Audio devices" No devices are shown thus I cannot manipulate volume, recording, midi etc.....


I really hope that someone else has gone through this and now has a solution to this problem.

Is it me, Is it the Card, or Is it in the system?
I thank you all now for your wise advice in the future.

Hi All, I think that I'll reiterate my problem.
st I have done all the uninstalling and deleting before installing the Audigy 2 Value that is logically expected. When I was done installing and restarted I didn't see the speaker icon pop up in the toolbar area so I went to "Control Panel, System Info Area", and open Device Manager, went to "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers". Opened "Creative SB Audigy 2 (WDM)" to Properties. It say's that the device is working properly. So I go to "Sounds and Audio Devices" in the Control Panel. Click the Volume tab and it say's "No Audio Device". Go to the Audio tab, and it says under each item "No Playback Devices, No Recording Devices, No MIDI Playback Devices". I go to the Voice tab and it says "No Playback Devices". I go to the Hardware tab, and click the "Creative SB Audigy 2 (WDM)". It says "This device is working properly".

I think that by now you get the idea. I'm not getting any sound at all, but everything in the computer that I am aware of indicates that the "Device is working properly". I've tried forcing a manual install of the drivers, but no success. Creative apparently knows nothing about fixing this problem, because I haven't been able to get any answers from them.
Can anyone help?

Active version of BW Data Source Dev Appears inactive in Q

Hi All,
This is urgent..needs to move to prod today but I am stuck in D still!
Does anyone know why a particular BW data source which is active inn Dev might appear to be inactive in Q after the transport?
We tried manual replication, transporting replica and reapplying the transports, recollecting the data source in both r3 and BW
I also verified that I am collecting the active version in my transport

Make sure the appropriate "Conversion of Source System names after transport" are maintained in target system QA and Prod.

Follow the above path...Go to Datawarehousing Workbench in QA tcode RSA1 and on the top you will see Tools > and follow from there...

DC not deploying in QA but working fine in DEV

Hi All,
I have created one activity in DEV for one view from one DC then I made some changes and checked in (NWDI), activated and released.
Later trying to deploy it into QA server it is not deploying, giving error like :
(Activity name)staging deployment partially completed due to some DC deployment is finished with error.
but we haven't touched this DC.
earlier we havn't faced this problem, we have upgraded QA SP 9 to SP11.
If we run the application from QA getting error like NoClassDefFound error.
Even we are trying to deploy another DC which we are getting error at deploy time it self also not deploying.
what might be the problem? Any ideas from experts?

Procedure Business Function Activation - How To

Hi all,
i have a customer that just upgraded it's systems to ehp4, our newest available release. He is now asking on a general best practice procedure how business functions should be activated in which client and what needs to be transported or not.
He has a system with a reference client (000) and a customizing client (200). My guess would be:
- Activate all required business functions in client 000.
- Make sure, all BC-Sets have been extracted and activated perfectly.
- Activate all missed BC-Sets manually in client 000.
- Transport all changes to client 200.
- Make sure the transport was performed successfully.
- Activate all required business functions in 200.
Is that the correct approach? I guess BC-Sets containing C-Tables can only be activated in a reference client!?

Sunny - Thanks for the reply and I appreciate the help. You indicated that if transports do not have objects related to the business function, they may not be affected. That's the crux of my question. I certainly understand if SAP requires matching BF activation for any transports that change config in that area, but want to be sure an upgrade of one piece of functionality is not impacting ALL transports to related systems.
Our main driver for the EHP project is updating functions in FSCM (Dispute Management, Collections, etc). These are the only BFs we're intending to activate at this time. I'll lay out an example of my question:
EHP4 installed in all systems (Dev/QA/Prod). Active Business Functions from EHP4 are only related to FSCM and they are only active in Dev system for unit testing. Now say an issue arises in Prod related to Fixed Assets that requires a config change. The normal method would be config in Dev, followed by unit testing. Transport to QA for integration testing. Finally transport to Prod.
Would this transport go through b/c the config has nothing to do with the new business functions activated or would the transport not move to QA b/c the same BFs were not active in QA that were in Dev?
Hope this helps clarify. It seems SAP would never "back you in a corner" like that and the transport should go through, but I've seen stranger things happen!

Error Activation of all work flow templates

Accidentally there is a big hurdle before me, I have found that all my event linkage's are active in swe2 for almost all the work flow templates. please help me how could such a situation araise with out even activating any thing from SWDD.It happened in Quality & PRD only.
Please help ASAP unwanted work flows are generating.

HI ALL,
The cause of issue is not yet identified however, there is a solution for deactivation / activation from DEV .
Go to SWE2 and in the menu option we find the Transport option, copy all the line items/Records into the Request and place for importing into the desired server. Since it is a maintenance view please be care ful of changing the entries of the table manually rather please follow the method mentioned above.

LO Extractors active in PROD

Dear experts,
I'm checking DEV abd QA today in preparation of being granted access to PROD.
And I noticed in LBWE screen that 2 extract structures are inactive in DEV (where they are active in QA.)
MC02M_0ITM & MC06M_0ITM
How can that be?
Shouldn't this setting have been transported from DEV to QA?
Or is it done directly in the different environment?
Should I create a TR with the proper setting (active extract structures) to transport to QA and PROD?

Needs to be transported. May be in dev some one played with datasource post transports to QA so active in QA while non-active in Dev,

Hi,
If there is no error's in workflow, then it might be the buffer issue.
Create a new version in Development client and then save the workflow. Surely it will ask for the request. Then activate the workflow and Transport it to production via Quality.
During the transport, try to close your workflow in all clients.
After Transport is successful, Log in to Production and check it.

How to ensure the event linkage of the Workflow active/enabled?

Iam new to the Workflow. We have one Workflow event linkage not activated/Enabled in the production system eventhough it was active in DEV as well as QA. We have transported the Customising request to enable event linkage in Production.
my question is why the event linkage is deactivated/disabled in Production?
is there any way to ensure that it (event linkage) will not be disable in production system? (please answer to this)

Hi
When there is an error in event, then linkage often gets broekn. In SWE2 or SWETYPV settings, Behaviour error upon feedback make it as do not change linkage.
This will sure that when there is an error, only that workflow will be in error mode and event linkage is not broken.

Realtek ALC888 (OSS Mixer) Very Quiet

xfce4-mixer says I am using "Realtek ALC888 (OSS Mixer)" and the speakers and mic work, but the speakers are VERY quiet. I can't hear well enough to make a phone call with Skype. So I tried this:

and it's not any better (I rebooted after I did that just to be sure). I have the volume on the physical speakers on 100% and xfce4-mixer also set to 100%.
I know that these speakers are actually pretty loud because other distros were LOUD.

To clarify, I don't actually care if I use oss or alsa or a
kerosene-powered dust buster. I just want to be able to hear youtube and
Skype normally. And the problem isn't just Skype--also youtube is very
quiet.
I removed oss and alsa was still there. Or it claimed to be. I rebooted
but amixer and alsaconf were 'command not found'
I installed oss again and soundon gave a crazy output about conflicting
drivers. So I rebooted. When I now click on my Xfce mixer panel addon it says
GStreamer was unable to detect any sound devices. Some sound system
specific GStreamer packages may be missing. It may also be a permissions
problem.
So I added myself (once again) to the audio group and installed oss again. Now I see this:

the problem is that file permissions are honored in an inconsistent manner. as an example:

not anymore, i just wanted to verify that the system behaved the same way with async and sync.
i suspect this is a reiserfs issue, is anyone using reiserfs on a raid1?
i switched to jfs but the errors persists.
