No Advanced Dialogue Option in Stnadard Photo Downloader

In my old Photoshop Elements 6, I could go to File --- Get Photos----Camera Card Reader and it would access my card reader and show me all the files on it so I could choose which ones I wished to download.  This was done by clicking on an Advanced Dialogue link.  Now I have PSE 8.  The Help Section tells me to go to the standard photo downloader dialogue box and click on the advanced dialogue option to be able to do this.  However, my standard dialogue box doesn't have anyplace to click for "advanced dialogue"  Help!  I want to be able to view which pictures to download like I did in Elements 6.  Any thoughts?

Right,  that's the symptom -- the Advanced Dialog button is missing.
I am  running Windows 7 and it tells me that I am at 100% and with a 9
point Segoe  UI at 96 pixels

OK, so the first FAQ doesn't apply -- you're already running a  Windows
text size of 100%.  But what about the second FAQ, running on a  short  display:

  • Customization options for the Photo Downloader

    Hi -
I've set my option in PSE 9 when importing photos to Shot Date (yyyy mm dd).  But was wondering if there is any way to customize the options beyond what is available in the dropdown of the dialog for creating subfolders?  I would like to avoid creating so many of the daily subfolders and would prefer something along the lines of Shot Date (yyyy mm).
I suppose an alternative would be to import them without creating subfolders, but moving images after the fact can give the catalog fits.  Any suggestions?  Was hoping this might be a registry change or something.
    Thanks

No, you can't change this default date folder structure.
Note that if you want to, the risk with moving files is if you do it outside of the Organizer.
After a batch import, the Organizer being in folder view, you could select all the imported media files from a given day and move them to the month folder. (CTRL A then drag to the master folder in the left panel : really simple and quick)
A possible problem would be if you have some files with the same file name as other files already in the files folder : the Organizer will then add suffixes like -1 to the file name to avoid overwriting the old files.
Before using the default date structure, like you I did use the 'year/month' scheme ; thinking about it, I decided the choice for 'Year/mont/day' was the good one, my former choice had no other advantage than an aesthetic simpler view outside Elements.

  • PSE8 for Mac: Convert to DNG in Bridge Photo Downloader fails

Using PSE8 for Mac.  When I get RAW photos from Bridge and specify "Convert to DNG" in the advanced options of the Photo Downloader, the RAW files download but the conversion to DNG fails for every image.  I can successfully convert using the standalone DNG Converter, but I would like to use the option in the Photo Downloader that comes with Bridge.  I'm in touch with Adobe Support on this but not having a lot of luck.  Has anyone had this problem or know what to do?
Also, I cannot see the RAW images either in the Photo Downloader or in Bridge.  They show up as blue squares with a flower graphic on them in the Downloader, and as white squares in Bridge.  I can only see images once I open them in Elements.  Is this normal?

Also, I cannot see the RAW images either in the Photo Downloader or in Bridge.
This is the source of your problem. You need to update the raw converter in bridge, which ships with a very old version (5.0). In bridge, go to help>updates and let it do its thing.

  • Photoshop 7 photo downloader hangs in windows 7

I am using windows 7 after upgrading from XP.  I have tried both using autoplay and the file-import-camera option once photoshop is running.  Both of these options cause the photo downloader to hang and display the message "loading device list.... Please wait."  I have read a few discussions saying this is a known bug with version 7 on a 64 bit system.  I have tried running photoshop using the compatibility option for windows XP SP2 and SP3 with the same hanging results.
Is there anything that can be done to allow the photo downloader to work properly in windows 7?

This is just a note to sympathize with you. I have a related problem with PSE-7 and Windows 7 and can't use the, "Get Photos From Files and Folders", command, nor can I drag and drop photos into the organizer. In my case I need to use, "Get Photos by Searching". You might try this a a temporary work around, until somebody comes up with a better solution. In your situation you would copy the photos from your camera card into the folder where they would ultimately reside first, then do the search.

  • No advanced option on photo downloader screen.

Photoshop 8.  When importing pictures, the photo downloader screen is missing the "Advanced" button that is supposed to be in the lower left hand corner.  As a test, we installed the same software on another computer and there, the downloader display page was fine.  What causes an option button to just not show up?  Thoughts?

Do you mean Photoshop Elements 8?

  • No advanced option in photo downloader

? Why does my Photo Downloader not have an advanced option as in the training videos?

    Hi Tom,
After doing a little more hunting around, I have found that the advanced dialog has grown a little and is now 854 pixels deep.
That is quite close to your screen depth of 900. As a test, is it possible to change to a high resolution?
I'm not sure whether it will make any difference but do you have the taskbar set to autohide?
The DPI setting I referred to in my last post can be found in the Personalization option as Adjust font size (DPI). See if setting that to 96DPI helps.

  • PSE 9 - Photo Downloader missing "Advanced" option?

The PSE 9 Photo Downloader seems to have lost some of the features that the PSE 8 version had.
The PSE 8 version has an "Advanced" option that shows thumbnails of all of the files on the selected device/media and let you select which one you wanted to upload. You can also insert basic Metadata into each of the uploaded file.
The PSE 9 uploader does not appear to have the "Advanced" option and requires you to upload ALL of the files on the selected device/media and has no option to add Metadata.
The PSE 9 Preferences has a section for the uploader. That includes wether or not to do automatic correction and wether or not to do automatic uploads for specific devices. There is an option in the preferences to have a device use "Show APD Dialog (standard)", I do not see any options for an "advanced" manual upload.
Even the PSE 9 help says there is supposed to be an "Advanced" button on the downloader.
Is this correct, or am I missing something?

    What is your screen resolution?
See this post for more details.

  • Photo Downloader advanced dialog not displayed completely

    Hello,
I use PSE10 and would use this application during traveling on a laptop (Compaq Presario C700). The Adobe website shows as a requirement
Color monitor with 16-bit color video card
    1024x576 display resolution
The laptop I'm using fullfills these requirements, the maximal display resolution is 1280 x 800 pixel
When I start the photo downloader to import images from my digital cameras memory card, the Elements Organizer Photo Downloader dialog appears as expected. Then I switch to Advanced Dialog to select only the required image files. But I can't download the images, as the buttons are not visilble, they are below the visible area of my display. The dialog has a size of 976 x 830 pixel (checked on a differenc computer) and can not be resized to a smaller hight. So the button "get media" can not be pressed to start the download.
I checked for updates to see if I miss some bugfixes, but I'm told that no updates are available
How can I use the Advanced Dialog of Photo Downloader from Photoshop Elements 10 to select the images I want to transfer to my computer?
    Wolfgang
PS: OS is Windows 7 Professional 32-bit, all available updates installed

  • Avoid photo download option

    I am facing this problem:
When publishing a photo website with iWeb there seems to way to avoid the 'download' (phot) option!
What I want is to show pictures but not to offer a download. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Thorge

If you're putting the photos in a Photo page or Album page layout go to the Inpsector/Photos/Photos pane and set the Photo Download Size to "None":
However, that won't stop someone from taking a screenshot of the photos.  There's no way to stop that but it will only give them a small version of the photo that won't be much good for printing.   If that's a concern you can add a watermark to the photos.  Go to MacUpdate.com and search for "watermark" to get a list of potential application candidates.

  • Why is my photo downloader dialogue box pixelated?

I have noticed recently that when I take images off a CF or SD card and use Bridge. The photo downloader dialogue box is not very high quality. The text is pixelated and the over all graphic isn't very high quality. I seem to only notice in this section of Bridge. I am working on a retina display mac book pro so it just seems weird when I open that dialogue box it is not very high quality. Is there something wrong or is this normal and the way it is supposed to be?

A lot more information about your hardware and software is needed.
    BOILERPLATE TEXT:
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),
exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CC", but something like CC2014.v.2.2) and of Bridge,
your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
the type of file you were working on,
machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
    what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
a screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too,
    etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster).

  • Photo Downloader Behaviour Options

    Hi.
In the Bridge prefs (General), there is Behaviour > When a Camera is Connected, Launch Adobe Photo Downloader. Unfortunately, I have to keep this unchecked because ANY device with pics on it will toggle this Behaviour. Adobe, could you please create checks for Camera, iPad, iPhone, etc?
    Cheers. Rudy

    Hi Gerald
Not making much progress on here. But, I've had some success offline. I'm using Adobe Creative Suite CS3 Design Premium whereas a friend of mine is using Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended. I had a look at his program earlier today and it seems that he has those missing options in the Bridge Photo Downloader. As far as I can see, we're running exactly the same versions of Bridge - so could it be that these options are disabled in the Creative Suite (or at least in the Design Premium edition)? I have no idea why this would be the case, but it seems the best answer so far.

  • Bridge Photo Downloader - leave already copied files

I've just started using Bridge and its photo downloader and it mostly works just the way I want it to. I like the fact that I can use Bridge to browse and organise my photos without having to  store a copy of every image in some proprietary database, and I love that the photo downloader allows me to import my images into folders organised by date etc. All in all I'm quite happy with this setup except for one little problem.
Every time I connect my camera (or iPhone etc.) Photo Downloader prompts me to save the images to my download folder. The problem is that it selects all the photos on that device to download even if it has already downloaded them. At first I didn't notice this until I discovered multiple copies of some of my images. Is there some way to get it to ignore or deselect photos that have already been imported? Or can I get it to automatically erase images off the device after download?
Currently I have to either manually deselect all the photos I already have which is tedious and prone to error, or I have to manually erase the device every time I download, which is less work but not exactly confidence inspiring. I don't want to store backup copies on my computer since I have limited space and I backup my whole hard drive on a regular basis anyway. Anyone have any tips?
    Thanks,
    Scott

To my knowledge there is no difference between the CS3 and CS4 version for
    Photodownloader
You could start with the Bridge preferences / general / behavior and uncheck
the option to automatically start Photodownloader when a camera is
connected. It looks an easy feature to use the automatic function but it is
not because every time you sync your iPhone the app starts and this can be
    very annoying.
I have started downloader once and let the icon stay in the dock permanently
so I can point to this icon directly to start downloader. You can also use
the menu file / get photo's from camera if you don't want the icon in  the
    dock, up to you.
When you start downloader you can choose from a device if there are more
than 2 devices to choose from (the list includes also your iPhone if you
have a wireless connection with it), otherwise it selects the device itself.
By default it shows the standard dialog but you should set it to advanced
dialog. In this way you can see the previews but also have the ability to
    choose for uncheck all.
Use this function when you have older images on your iPhone and just want to
load the recent ones. Just select the desired once holding down shift to
select first and last in a row or command to select random multiple files.
Those files do get a blue border when selected.
When you have selected all the files you want just hit the checkmark square
with your mouse on one blue lined file and all the selected files get a
checkmark. Now you can hit the get photos button and your done.
But I would also advice you to make a short study of the other options that
Photodownloader has to offer like renaming, converting to DNG, back-up and
    adding metadata to it.
It is a very easy way to handle multiple actions with just one mouse click
once you have the settings as you want it.
Every time I connect my camera (or iPhone etc.) Photo Downloader prompts me to
save the images to my download folder. The problem is that it selects all the
photos on that device to download even if it has already downloaded them. At
first I didn't notice this until I discovered multiple copies of some of my
images. Is there some way to get it to ignore or deselect photos that have
already been imported? Or can I get it to automatically erase images off the
    device after download?

  • Convert to dng is greyed out in CS3 Bridge Photo Downloader

I have no idea what has happened, but when I use the Photo Downloader in Bridge (CS3) to copy using my card reader, the option to convert to dng is greyed out and is not available for me to select.  I can convert to dng using the stand alone dng converter and also from within Camera Raw with no problem, but I like the convenience of doing the conversion using the Photo Downloader.  This option was available to me and worked perfectly up until a couple of weeks ago.  Any ideas and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  thanks in advance.

  • Can I exclude certain file types in the Photo Downloader?

    Hi there!
I am very new here, so please do correct me on etiquette and if I'm doing something wrong. I've been searching the web for quite a while now but couldn't find an answer or even questions concerning this problem...
I like using Bridge's Photo Downloader, for the nice renaming and other options it gives me. Usually I want to download all images from a card and then delete them on the card. The problem I am having is that Photo Downloader will not only see images (like .JPG, .CR2 or .ARW) but camera database files and settings (.INT, .BDM, .BIN, ...). This is annoying, since I neither want them stored on my hard drive nor deleted on my card. I also would like to import movies in a different way. The way I can work around this now is that I manually deselect all non-images in the Advanced Dialog and then only download these. But I was hoping that there is a more elegant and automatic way to just exclude certain file types from automatic selection. Or even just a way to mark or unmark the images by file type. This should be very easy to implement and I am really curious if I am missing something obvious here or if this is just not possible yet.
Has anyone else thought this before? Or are you all using different methods to import images from your card reader?
Any help or comment is appreciated.

Sorry, download history is either on or off. There is no preference setting to exclude specific file types.
