No Alerts Sounds - Message Sent, Mesage Receive, etc.

iChat3.1.4 (v432)
None of the alert sounds work IE When I send or receive IM messages no alert sounds play. I've changed the sounds from the defaults to the OS Submarine sound and still nothing. I've restarted the app and my computer but that didn't fix it.
When I am in the iChat Preferences panel and I select the various sounds from the drop down menu, they preview just fine, they play and I can hear them. They just won't sound in the actual chat windows, etc.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Tanner,
If Defcom's solutions did not work then delete com.apple.ichat.plist in ~/Library/Preferences
This holds the Alert sounds on a global level and those set for each Buddy (If you have set any).
You have to restart iChat afterwards.
You also lose Bubble colour, Font choices and Saved Status Messages that are most visible.

You would have to view them on the other phone.

Group text messages sent are received as slideshow

I have an Iphone 3gs and when I send a text to multiple people, they report receiving it as a slideshow. Their carrier is US cellular (don't know if that matters). When I send the same message individually, it's received just fine. Any ideas why? Thanks!

How can I direct alert sounds ( text mgs, email notification, etc ) to the phone speaker instead of being forced to hear it in my headset?

Before getting an iPhone 5s, I had a Blackberry. I have a Bluetooth headset that I like to use. On the blackberry, it would route call audio to the headset, but all other notification tones ( text message alerts, email alerts, etc. ) were heard over the phones integrated speaker. Now, when I pair the headset with the iPhone 5S, all sounds are forced to go to the headset and I have no flexibility to redirect them. This is important, because my headset is a pre-paired UC headset that simultaneously works with my PC. So, it is not always in an active state, rather it is listening for audio to come from my PC or my phone. This setup worked fine on my two year old blackberry. Why is the iPhone not able to offer the same flexibility??? Is there an app that can manage the sounds and direct them to the speaker instead of the Bluetooth headset?

My two young daughters received Ipods. Do they both need to have seperate Apple ID's so that messages sent and received are sent to the correct iPod?

When daughter #1 sends a message then daughter #2's Ipod also shows the message and receives the response. Do I need to set up seperate apple Id's for their ipods or can they just share the one that has all of my info. on it?

No. However, after you set them both up, including activating Mesages and FaceTime wit the Apple/iTunes ID email address, on one iPod go to Settings>Messages>Receive At and add another messaging email address and delete the Aplle/iTunes one. Do similang for FaceTime.

You can stop iMessages from going to the other devices by:
On your iPad: Settings > Messages > iMessage off
On your Mac, open Messages and then on the menu item named "Messages" open Preferences > Accounts and sign out.

SOund for sent or received new mail

Many times the sound of the mail disappears and cannot hear if at max volume, is that an error or how to rectify it ?

I have this problem, too. Mail sounds disappear. They return if I quit Mail, then immediately open it, or if I reboot. What is the fix/ Is this a software problem? Do I need to reinstall tiger?

Why do alert sounds vanish?

This happened under Lion, too, but it seems to occur even faster under Mountain Lion. For no apparent reason, alert sounds for emptying the trash, etc, just stop working. They start again if I reboot, but I shouldn't have to do that. Any suggestions? And thanks!

E-mail messages sent from Dynamics CRM

I have Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online (recently updated to version 2015) integrated with Microsoft Office 365 midsize business so we also use Exchange Online on the same domain.
Is it possible, when I send an e-mail from CRM, to see it also in the Sent Items of my Mailbox?
It seems that they are not "integrated" even if the system is in fact the same!

settings - do not disturb - off
use the side control and make sure the switch is up for ringer and not on vibrate.

Hi. when I'm texting, if the person i'm texting sends a text before i've sent mine, i dont get an alert sound and the message only arrives after mine is sent even though i may know its there waiting. I didnt have this problem till i updated software. 4s

Hi all. Hope someone can help with this infuriating issue that I didn't have until updating. If a friend texts me while I'm texting them, I don't get an alert sound and the message stays outside waiting for me to send and finish. When I send, my friends message comes in but ive probably gone to home position and missed it. waiting for replies till all hours.

I think the problem lays with Last.fm. I had the same exact problem as you. In your processes screen, end the task "lastfmhelper.exe" Last.fm still scrobbles. The tracks don't skip, although I notice there is still a bit of a lag in the first part of the song - but if you can deal with that, no skipping. I think you will have to end that task everytime you boot up your computer, or uninstall last.fm completely until they fix it; it is a bug in their software, as opposed to iTunes.

Yes.
Check your Profiles (or sounds, on some themes) and scroll down to Advanced, find the IM application your working with (you didn't say which one) and edit the volume there.

Text message vibrate instead of alert sound

i am in a text message conversation screen (as opposed to the main message screen that lists my messages), and my phone ringer is on with vibrate activated. however when i receive a text message within the conversation, it only vibrates with no sound alert. is this normal?

Even just going back to the list of converstatoins (button in top left) you will not get alert sound while in the App. Again, it assumes you are looking at it and seeing the indicators pop up for number of messages etc for each conversation.
You have to be out of the app for it to give a sound.
If you are not expecting a msg right away then why stay in it? Press home and go back to home screen and wait.

No sound on sent or recieved messages

I can't seem to get iChat to make sounds when messages are sent or received, or when I log in. It happens for all of my buddies, I have alerts turned on, volume up, other iChat sounds work, I've deleted the com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist file and manually ran my routine cleanup scripts, and still it makes no sound. I've even checked the sounds in the actions preferences panel, and the sounds exist there, so I assume the sound files are intact. My computer's been like this since I bought it (new) last month. This one really has me stumped. Somebody help?

Go to Applications/Utilities
Open MIDI Audio Setup
Make sure this is set to 44100 in the bottom left hand corner.
Restart iChat.
Check in System Preferences > Sound > Sound Effects tab that the Alert Volume is set high enough.
(Do the sounds play in iChat > Preferences > Alerts ?)
If this does not work go to Hard Drive/Library/Preferences and delete com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist
AT this point restart the computer.
