No Aperture in Application Support File

I downloaded Aperture3 to my Mac Mini (2.3GHz i7 w/16GB) from the App store.  I'm new to the Mac's and am still working my way through it. I downloaded the .Zip file for the Facebook Exporter and amtrying to install the plug-in and there is no "Aperture" file in the Application Support file. Is it hidden for some reason?  Can I add it? Am I going about this the wrong way?
Thanks!
JCCharles

Just go ahead and make the Aperture folder and then under that make a Plug-Ins folder
Like this. Should install OK after that. Post  back if you have more questions.

  • I'm using a mac, my profile can't be found, firefox won't open, and I don't have an application support file for firefox.

I tried to reset firefox because it was running slowly, in the middle of it "cleaning up" my old files something happened and firefox closed. I tried to reopen it and it kept coming up with an error message about my profile not being able to be found etc. I tried looking for solutions but couldn't find one that I could follow. Please help.

Follow the instructions to create a new profile. Then test it.
After, you can move your files from the old profile to the new one.

  • Missing adobe application support file

I had to purchase a new machine.
Mac Book Pro - version 10.6.5
2.4 Ghz intell core 2 duo
I was running Photoshop CS 8.0
I dragged my app to the new machine and now see this message:
Now at first this was just fine. But I cannot get my pics to open.
I have tried to set me permissions, uninstall, reinstll.... and more.
One of the tuturials to fix said I should fine the files on my old system folder but I dont readily see them
I do not want to buy the latest PS for 695.00 usd.
Is there any other way to fix this problem.
I use photoshop for my business.
    Please help!
    Mary Ann

Sounds like the well-known problem where you are missing the Adobe Type Unit file - which does disappear when dragging Photoshop from one machine to another.
    I have documented it here http://www.ninisworld.com/thecorner/tutorials/photoshopopen.html .
The technote mentioned there does no longer exist at adobe.com (which keep rebuilding their site so links yiu have no longer work...).
Try that (provided you are on a Mac). It is a 4K file.

  • Pages 4.1 Freezing: Should I delete the app and can I redownload it I do? Or should I just remove some application support files?

Pages 4.1 is not cooperating. When I open a document the spinning rainbow computes and computes, but freezes and I have to force quit. I checked downloads, and ran iDisk Utility, but to no avail. What can I do?

You could tell us which system version you use. Pages 4.1 doesn't work on Tiger.

  • Missing files in Adobe application support CS5.1

Why do I get this error message when I start CS5?
One or more files in the Adobe Application Support folder, necessary for running Photoshop, are missing.  Please run the Photoshop installer and re-install Photoshop.
New install on new iMac and worked fine until I uninstalled CS4 using uninstall app. Reinstalled CS5 but still happens. Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, the Adobe uninstallers have a habit of messing with newer versions, as often there's no way to distinguish old application support files from new ones.
Ideally, you should uninstall older versions first if you don't want them on your computer, then install the new version.  I have Photoshop 7.0.1 through 11.0.2 happily coexisting on my machine.  I can even run two versions of Photoshop simultaneously, just by launching the older version first.

  • TS1424 When downloading itunes update, I got the error, Apple Application Support was not found.*

On my windows pc, I mistakenly deleted Applie Applications Support file.   Any help with how to restore it?

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version). If the following link takes you to the WinRAR home page rather than the WinRAR downloads page, click the Downloads header in the box at the left of the WinRAR home page to see the trial version downloads:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • I can't restore 'library' with support files from Time Machine

backup - I can't restore 'library' with support files from Time Machine - Ask Different
Due to an accident, my entire applications folder with all the support files, including plists and caches got deleted.
I tried restoring by files from the most recent Time Machine backups but I cannot retrieve my applications with the support files.
I even tried it with migration assistant on a new image.
    Is this impossible?
    Must I start from scratch?
    Details of the ‘accident’
I was using this app called ‘AppCleaner’ that also automatically deletes related support files which are normally left behind if one simply trashes an Application.
In the search view, I typed the app name and I selected all the apps in the results using Command + A. Unfortunately, this selected every single Application in the Applications Folder in the background and I trashed and deleted all files.
    Anyway.
I tried to restore the applications and library from my Time Machine Back-ups but failed to do so because I didn’t have enough space to restore. (I have a 11inch Macbook Air 2012 64GB SSD
When I tried to restart in recovery mode, I had the same problem, I was disallowed the option to restore using my time capsule backups because my SSD didn’t have enough space for the backup.
I then tried to restore it to a totally different but new image on a 64GB USB3.0 Sandisk USB Stick, but the process stopped after hours of being stuck around 30.4 percent and the computer was unable to boot, leaving me with a persistent verbose message suggesting it couldn’t identify the os, kernel or anything.
I finally tried restoring the state using migration assistant on the very same SSD that had my files missing. This happened successfully and I have all my applications in the applications folder.
But now I have 13GB free (I had 2GB before) and all my application support files, saved states, preferences, caches and customizations are gone.
Basically, it feels like I just got a new macbook with my documents and itunes folder loaded on to it.
How can I get my apps back to the pre-deletion state or is this impossible? Do I have to start from scratch? I thought my Time Machine Backups would restore it to exactly the same state, am I wrong?

Can you simply navigate to your Time Machine backup with the Finder? Treat it like an external hardrive and just look for your old Applications folder. /Applications/
Also, quite a few apps put config and support files in ~/Library/Application\ Support/
So you may be able to get the files from there as well.

  • How can I tell my apps where their Application Support folders are?

Hi there- I thought I had this solved with an earlier post but looks like I don't.
I just installed an 120GB SSD in addition to my 500GB HDD in my Mid-2010 MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion. I did the following things:
    1. Carbon copied my entire HDD onto the SSD (everything but the /Users and /Applications folders)
    2. Booted from SSD and changed the "user folder location" to point to the users folder I left on the HDD (in System Preferences+Users and Groups+Advanced Settings.)
    3. All of my apps showed up as brand new or were malfunctioning in some other way. I've figured that this is because they can't find their Application Support folders (which may be in the Users directory on the HDD) Upon seeing that my Apps didn't have any data, as in, they thought they were brand new, I moved the Applications folder to the SSD too. This doesn't solve the problem.
    4. I then set up a symbolic link on the HDD that points to the actual folder on the SSD. Still nothing.
But the apps are all missing their Application Support files. My EyeTV thinks it's brand new and unactivated, my screen saver program is confused, Audition won't even open, and so on and so forth. My concern is not the " You are launching this app for the first time" message. I'm fine with that- I only care about the fact that none of these apps know where any of their files and settings are and I can't tell them.
How can I make these apps (or Mac OS) know where all these files are? I didn't think I messed with too much...

I justlokerd on my iPod and I can't find it eithr.  It does appear in the App store on the computer. The App store on the iPod will not allow you to purchas and app that is not compatible with your iod mode/iOS.

  • Find Application Support Folders That are Not Visible in Time Machine

I would like to restore an application support file and a preferences file that are no longer visible in the Finder or in Time Machine since I upgraded to 10.8. I was able to do this in the past and am a little frustrated I cannot do it now. I know how to find the folders on my computer using the Finder Go to Folder method, but cannot use this method to find the files in my Time Machine backup. Please help. Thanks!

See http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/04/show-library-directory-in-mac-os-x-lion/ and permanently unhide the user's Library. That should allow TM to update itself, making them visible, but maybe only in the latest updates. I don't use TM, so all I can point you for that is Pondini's TM FAQs.

  • Can't locate template location - application support missing/empty

I am trying to install a keynote template that I have downloaded from the internet. Keynote tells me:
Keynote can’t save the theme because the disk is full or you do not have permission to write to this disk.
I followed some instructions about searching for the ~/Library/Application Support file, but this does not seem to exist under Snow Leopard. (I am not looking at the root directory).
Actually, the folder is there, because I created it because I was updating iWeb, but it does not contain all the modules that I would expect to be there for application support. (I have accessed it using Command Shift G).
I need to update the permissions files as it explains to do here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2193200?start=0&tstart=0
But I can't find these files. Do I need to build this set of folders? I have already uploaded some Pages themes and other keynote themes and they have just gone where they are supposed to go (even though I have no idea where this might be). This last theme, however, seems to want to go to a place where it cannot.
Would be grateful for some help on this one.
    Thanks, Andrew

Try downloading 7-Zip (free), or a free trial of WinRAR, and unpack the iTunesSetup.exe or iTunesSetup64.exe file into its components then try installing them individually in alphabetical order (don't try to install SetupAdmin.exe or iCloud.msi). AAS might not install right now, but you may get a more useful error message as to why not, or it might install once the other components have been installed.

  • Application Mime File Type Preferences

    I'm stumped!
I've gone through the entire user preferences, application support files, and library files and still cannot locate which file is containing the settings for mime type application association with .php files.
I am having an issue with Firefox only downloading .php files instead of displaying them in the firefox browser. The .php files continue to be associated with the dreamweaver extension and icon and continue to to tell firefox to download instead of rendering.
I was so frustrated, I did a clean install onto another hard drive (OS X 10.3.9 drive 2)and was able to get firefox to work on the new system os. Again, I have trashed all the dreamweaver files, trashed all the firefox files and settings and even after doing a reinstall of firefox I continue to get the same issue on the older install 1 os x (10.3.9 drive 1). Drive 1 has all my precious files, years of settings and other data that I want to keep. I just want firefox to render .php pages off my local drive instead of trying to download them.
Can anyone help me find the file I need to trash to make this happen? What am I missing?
    Thanks,

File and application associations are set using the Get Info window by selecting the file and pressing COMMAND-I. Settings are controlled in the Open With section. You can also use the freeware preference pane RCDefaultApp (www.versiontracker.com or www.macupdate.com.)

  • Unable to remove old version of iTunes, apple application support.msi

Hi, I'm having trouble with my itunes and i don't know how to uninstall the old version of itune or uninstall the apple application support file that is in my control panel if anybody can help it will be greatly apprciated....

Did you get your issue resolved?  I think I'm having the same problem.  I can't uninstall itunes and I can't reinstall itunes without a box popping up stating
" The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.  Click ok to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below"
And when I search for that file on my computer, it finds 2 different paths and NEITHER of them contain the .msi file.   I'm ready to pay apple support just so I can scream at someone.  This is so frustrating!!!!

  • TS3519 Library/Application Support/Aperture folder problem

I have Aperture 3 upgrade from Aperture 2.  When I originally installed the upgrade for version 3, there was a small problem in that I had upgraded to version 2 from the version 2 trial; Aperture 3 did not accept the version 2 serial number for some internal reason.  I contacted Apple and they supplied a valid serial number to allower version 3 to install as an upgrade.  That's the back story.
Just recently, I tried to install a plug in (aperture to zenfolio) in the Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/Export folder, but my machine did not have that folder.  I was told I could create that set of nested folders and then install the plug in.  Somehow though, I changed a permission setting on that set of folders and Aperture is asking for the current serial number and a valid serial number for the upgrade.  I've tried  both serial numbers for the version 2 software, but version 3 does not accept either.  I am at wits end and I don't want to reinstall Aperture since I'm concerned that a lot of the presets might disappear.
    Any thoughts?

and you know this because spotlight could not find it?
Well, spotlight does not search the system disk.
The relevant file will be found in /Library/Application Support/ProApps/Final Cut Studio System ID
