No applications seen in desktop manager.

I was trying to upgrade my bbm, and used desktop manager, and noticed in the applications section I can't see any at all. The OS thats installed on my phone is also installed on my computer, and theres no other os's installed on my computer that would conflict. I also have version 6 of desktop manager and 5.0.0.438 installed on my 8330. I was wondering if anyone knew as to why i can't see any single application at all?
Edit : Also my phone isnt associated with an email on a BES. Infact it doesn't have email, i was able to see them before but for some reason i can't now?

Hi,
Yes it does seem odd.
Go into Device Manager and rescan the hardware. Use the Action TAB or right mouse click at the top of the device tree on your PC.  Do you now see the adapter in Device Manager?
Boot into the bios (F10 setup) and make sure that the on board LAN adapter is enabled.  Is it detected and enabled?  It should be listed under Advanced.

  • Application updates on Desktop Manager 4.7 - required / then not required

I recently upgraded to Desktop manager 4.7. Following this update when I first synced my Bold it upgraded the applications on the device and restored etc no problems.
Now, everytime I sync I get a message that application updates are available, listing various updates, I then select update now, but after checking the device desktopn manager reports "no software update required".
This happens everytime I sync and is startying to get annoying.
    Any ideas?

Did you ever receive a response to your question? I'm having the same problem and it's frustrating. Anyone know why this is happening?

  • Repeated ical sync failure with latest version of Desktop Manager

My wife downloaded the latest version of Blackberry Desktop Manager today. Prior to this version, syncing her iCal calendars with Desktop Manager had been working just fine. Now she gets the "Sync Error" message all the time. Looking
in the log shows the "Attempt to insert nil...." error that has been reported here previously. Also, it seems to not be only attempting to sync future events (which she had checked) - it popped up with 5 conflicts all of which were literally years in the past.
I tried the fix reported in one message (delete the /Users/username/Library/Applications Support/Blackberry Desktop Manager and reboot twice) but that didn't seem to work. Any suggestions? Should I use another syncing program with
the Blackberry and the Mac and just ditch Desktop Manager until they get it fixed?

So i just did the same and yes, the sync error goes away, but i think another problem is occuring.
I use Entourage for my contacts and have a Blackberry to sync it to.  Since contacts will only sync with ADDRESS i need to first sync ENTOURAGE with ADDRESS then it moves on to my BB.  Since doing this exercise (above), it seems that ENTOURAGE is not syncing to ADDRESS...does this make any sense?

  • Desktop Manager issue

    Hello,
I noticed something, that everytime i connect my blackberry torch to my pc, and open desktop manager, the internet connection at my pc turns off automatically, and i cant reconnect to my wifi signal, and when i exit desktop manager then i can cpnnect to the wifi and use the internet normally.
    what could be the issue?
    Regards,

I had a similar issue as well. What worked for me was to delete applications from the Applications list in Desktop Manager. I had several entries for similar .cod files that my .alx was referencing.
Here is what I did to remove the apps from the Application List
    1.  Win7/Vista users   Click Start and type regedit.exe and hit "Enter"
WinXP, previous    Click Start, run and type regedit.exe and hit "Enter"
This will cause the "Registry Editor" to open.
    2.   Using the Folder Tree on the left window pane, navigate to the following:
          HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Research in Motion > Blackberry > Loader > Packages
    3.    Once you've selected the "Packages" Folder, on the right pane will be displayed the base (install) names of any files/programs you have installed onto your Blackberry device.
    4.   Select the ones that you no longer want to be displayed and hit the "Delete" Key. (You can also right-click the key and select "Delete"
    5.   Repeat Step 4 until all the unwanted programs are gone.
I know this post is old but maybe someone who runs into this 2 years from now (like I did) will be able to reference it and prevent searching for hours to fix it.
    Cheers,.

What happened when you tried putting different battery in it? Did you ask to borrow one to test from the carrier?
Or did you purchase a new battery and try it?
Do you have the right battery for this series phone  and is it an OEM Blackberry battery?
See the picture below to make sure you have the right battery (note label color)

  • Uncaught error java nullpoint exception, email icons disappeared, application loader unable to back up data, desktop manager unable to connect

    Model:  Curve 8900
    Provider: At&t
    Platform: 4.2.0.108
I'm ready to throw this phone in the blender.... if I could only back up my data first. A couple of months ago the What's App application required an update. I updated it and ever since my phone has steadily had more and more issues. First, I kept getting this uncaught error message, shortly thereafter the 2 email accounts (both gmail) that I have linked to the account disappeared. The message icon shows that I have messages, but icons not there (I have tried the show all option). At one point the message icon started exponentially adding the number of messages until it got up to over 86,000. When I reboot the phone it goes back down and then steadily increases again... usually though it's more to 400 - 500 rather then tens of thousands. I have been trying to install updates and do a wipe of the BB so that I can start from scratch, unfortunately the application loader is unable to back up data. The desktop manager is unable to connect to the blackberry and indicates that an upgrade is required. I have tried doing the upgrade both directly from the phone and connected to the desktop manager, but nothing seems to work. If I try to upgrade the software directly from the BB, I get to the start download button and when I click, nothing happens. I have removed all applications except bberry app world and one game that I play, Pixelated Plus. Still nothing. Any ideas?

Do you want to save the messages?
If not (and I think they are the problem) open the Desktop Software > Device > Delete Data and click the "select Data" option. Select the Messages to remove. Complete the prompts and finish.
Then, return to backup the entire device, and see if that is possible to complete this time with no messages.
Now, once the back up is done and you have your data, you can disconnect the device.
Now, use BBSAK to wipe the device and subsequently load the new operating system.
**If you cannot complete the backup again above, you might have to do without it, OR you can use the Desktop Software to sync your Address book, calendar, memos and tasks to Outlook. OR, you can easily install and use BlackBerry Protect to backup your device over the air to RIM servers, then once wiped and the new OS reloaded, you can use Protect to restore the data back to the 8900. << This you should do regardless.
Good luck, post back here as you have questions.

  • Desktop Manager Application loader hangs

    Desktop Manger v. 5.0.0.11
    Vista 64 bit v 6.0
    BB 8350i  v4.6.1.204
when running the App installer from Destop manager.  It gets to the install stage where it says that it may take up to 30 minutes to complete and the warning do not disconnect until complete, and then hangs.  The first few times I thought I may have been impatient so this time I let it sit all night and no progress.  vista said that the app was not responding.  i searched and did not find this issue in the forum so my appologies if this has already been solved.
PS.  I have previously used Desktop manager with success on a different machine running XP.  DM does do a successful backup and restore in Vista, but the app loader continues to hang.
    Thanks for your help.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Have you installed, to your PC (atop DTM), the device OS package for your specific model, carrier, and OS level? That may help if not...you can find your carriers download page via this portal:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
If doing that alone does not help, then I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Retry the things you are needing
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!

    Go to Solution.

If you're running Windows try going to Start | Run and type in (w/o quotes) "%temp%".
That should open the temp directory where the software may be trying to install to. If the folder isn't empty delete it's contents and try again.

  • Bold 9000 on Mac Desktop Manager - Can't Remove Any Applications

In Mac Desktop Manager I go to applications and select the ones I want to remove.  I get a message saying:
Validation failed because a module marked for update (net_rim_bis_lib) is not available on local disk
Then, it cancels the application removal.
I am trying to remove some applications that I loaded (QuickPull among others) that I think are slowing down my Bold.  I have deleted them when on the Bold, but they still appear as loaded in the Desktop Manager.  Ever since putting this app on my BB, I get many more clocks and it runs much slower.  Thanks for the help.
I have done a battery pull for 10 minutes, but no change.
    Richard

Not having a media card in your BlackBerry may affect your ability to transfer media files onto it. There is a file size limit of 2.86MB when transferring files into device memory. http://bbry.lv/9XNuy0
Have you verified that the applications you are trying to install are supported by your current wireless provider? Unlocked devices from one provider may not have full functionality on another network.

  • Desktop Manager Update- Stuck on "Loading Applications" step

I started to download a desktop manager update and the download has been on step 10 of 12 for almost an hour.  That step of the process is the "loading applications" task.  Is it normal for the update to take this long?  There is a message at the top of te update box warning me not to diconnect my device or I risk damage to the apps and the device.
I am wondering if this is the normal time and how I can prevent damaging the device if it's not normal?  Thanks for the help!

Updates don't usually take this long, so it's possible something may have gone wrong.  Do you know what the update was for?  If you're with Sprint, it may have been upgrading the operating system on your phone, but other than that, I'm not sure why it would be doing that.
If you still need additional help, please post back and include your carrier name and if you know it, the operating system version that was installed on the phone.  And let us know what, if any, messages are displayed on the phone and/or computer.

  • Cannot Load Applications Using Desktop Manager

I have a Blackberry Pearl 8130 (through Verizon) and am running Microsoft XP Professional on the PC. Using the About Blackberry Desktop Manger menu item, I find the Desktop Manager version is 4.3.0.15 (Aug 15 2007), the Device Manager version is 4.3.0.7, the Application Loader version is 4.3.0.13, and the RIM program is 1.0.0.35. The Device Software tab has no software listed, although I have several applications installed.
The problem is that when I try to load a new application, the loader program always gives an error message that it cannot find any new applications even though I point it to a directory that contains both the *.alx and *.cod files. Luckily, so far i have been able to find over the air installation options but that isn't always going to work.
I have spent hours on this problem, mostly on the the Blackberry website, but so far have been unable to find anything that worked. I even did a full reinstall of all of the desktop and device software--a full half day job.
Any new ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Could it be that the desktop manager is generic so as to support all blackberrys but the device software is required for programs that will only work on certain models?
Yep. The Desktop Manager is designed to be universal between BlackBerry Devices, and as handheld code can change for BlackBerry devices often, the configuration files are not included with releases of just the Desktop Manager. You will need to download the relevant handheld code from your carrier to include it.
PITA I know, but its the only way it can be reliably done.

  • Blackberry Desktop Manager won't load applications

    Hi there,
When I connect my Blackberry Curve 9360 to Desktop Manager, it connects fine and everything else works fine too; except when I click on the "Applications" tab, nothing shows up. I'm not able to see any apps or input languages on the screen.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Desktop Manager, syncing my device, backing it up, and I even made sure my Blackberry Appworld account was ok as well as checking if all my apps were running properly.
When I go to Options > Third Party Applications on my Curve, nothing loads there either. I can see my applications on Blackberry App World though.
    Please help.
    Sincerely,
    Brian
