No apps after itunes reinstall

I had to reinstall itunes 11.5.5 on a fresh computer and all the apps are gone. I backed up my itunes folder in my music, so all the itunes migrated but none of the apps. Many were free, but some were bought. How do I get them back?

I recently had to format my PC due to a virus. Now after reinstalling iTunes, I cant resync my many purchased apps back to my PC. The only option it is giving me is to erase the iphone and start again. How can I get my apps back onto my PC as I'm worried that when software version 3.0 comes out, I will loose all my apps after updating?

Did you update your computer's backup or create a backup before reformatting your computer's hard drive which should include your iTunes library?
If not, did you lose all of your computer's data due to this Windows virus? If you lost all data due to this virus, I don't understand why anyone chooses to put up with such a swiss cheese for security operating system that is Windows.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content from an iPod or iPhone that was purchased from the iTunes store, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store only.
First you need to re-authorize your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes. After doing so, with your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
If all 3rd party apps do not transfer from your iPhone to your iTunes library, you can re-download the 3rd party apps with iTunes on your computer and you won't be charged again for any 3rd party paid apps as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the apps that was used to purchase the apps originally.
In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on a single computer only. When syncing an iPhone with an iTunes library on another computer, all iTunes content on your iPhone that was transferred from a different computer will be erased first. The same applies to photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process. Your iPhone detects your computer as a new or different computer since your computer's hard drive was reformatted.

Missing apps after archive & reinstall

I recently did an archive & reinstall. Opening iMovie for the first time after it gave me the following error:
"Missing Quicktime Components: The QuickTime components necessary to view, edit, import, and export several kinds of movies are not installed. These components are included with the iMovie installer; please re-install."
iMovie still opened but I didn't want to entrust it with importing files. So I went here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/application_updates/imovie712.html and downloaded the latest iMovie and tried to install it. But I got this error:
"Alert: An eligible iMovie application was not found in the location /Applications."
Huh, that's weird. So I looked in my Applications folder and not only is iMovie not there, but neither is iPhoto, or iDVD!
I suppose I could bring them back with the versions in my Time Machine prior to the archive and reinstall, but would they come whole? Would it be better to reinstall these from the Installation DVD's? WHo knows what else is missing? Guess that is what I get for using the Leopard Installation DVD I got for my G5, rather than using the disks that came with this MacBook Pro.

no, you don't need either. you just want to reinstall ilife, not the whole system and you don't need pacifist for this.
if you bought ilife separately, just use the ilife install DVd. If you use ilife that came with the computer do the following.
insert the install dvd 1 that came with the computer. open it in finder and double-click on "install bundled software only". follow the instructions. once ilife is installed rerun the ilife updates to bring it up to its current version.

I keep getting error -42408 while trying to authorize songs after itunes reinstall?

I had to reinstall itunes, because my mac wouldn't run the latest version. Half the songs now need authorization to play, but when I do the store give me the error message -42408. Is this a problem on my end or itunes store?

Applications disappeared after iTunes reinstall

I just re-installed iTunes on a new computer. Everything in iTunes appears complete, as before, but when I connected my iPhone, all my applications were erased. They all show in iTunes under "Library - Applications", but not on the phone. How can I restore them?

Make sure there is a check for syncing in the Applications tab.
Also you can try reauthorizing your computer.
In iTunes, go to the Store menu
Select "Deauthorize Computer"
Enter your Apple ID and password then click the Deauthorize button
Go back to the Store menu
Select "Authorize Computer"
Enter your Apple ID and password then click the Authorize button.

My apps go on waiting when even after completion of download. That is specifically when i activate my cellular data after downloading n syncing the app from itunes app store.

This is a big problem im experiencing with my just brought i phone5 iOS 6.1.4
After completeion of downloads ..and playing the game or using an app..whenever i sync my next downloaded apps, the previoulsy downloaded apps go on waiting.
like intially i downloaded red laser n we chat..n i synced it with my iphone5 ..after that i downloaded whatsapp n temple run2 ...wa and TR2 successfully got instaled on my iphone but the other two went on waiting..also the waiting freezes ...*NOTE* I downloaded all my apps from itunes n then put them into iphone.
also i recently downloaded a game..n successfully synced it with my phone..i even played it for a couple of time but my cellular data wasnt activate..as soon as i activated it the game went on wating...everytime this happens i have to delete n reinstall the app..anything u can help me out with?

Recently wiped HD and reinstalled everything; cannot find my apps in iTunes

After a terribly unpleasant mishap with my old OS; I was forced to wipe my harddrive and start from scratch. So, I repartitioned my drive, set up a dual-boot system with Ubuntu Linux and XP (XP pretty much purely to use iTunes to manage my iPhone 3G).
Since reinstalling iTunes, however, I no longer have a list of the Applications I own - not ones previously purchased on the app store, nor ones I've purchased since then. I had to authorize my computer again, and now iTunes reports two PC's being authorized. However, there is only the one. I'm not sure, but I suspect this could be related.
It seems iTunes feels this is a new, second computer. This is very inconvenient, however, because since the HD was wiped and everything reinstalled, I cannot go back and deauthorize.
Also, as I have no apps in iTunes (though my account on the app store does show my app purchases) I fear if I need to remove an app from my iphone for whatever reason, I'll have to purchase them again rather than just re-sync them.
Under Devices>iPhone>Applications, there are non listed in iTunes. Clicking "Sync Applications" warns that it will wipe the apps off my iPhone - clearly, not the way to go.
How can I fix this? How can I get my apps back into iTunes, and how can I deauthorize the original "computer" (which no longer exists)? Seems silly to permenantly lose an "authorization slot" (for lack of a better term) just because I repartitioned my hard drive.

Thanks for the quick reply! Knowing I can simply un-authorize everything if needed (even if only once a year) is good; I just wanted to be sure those potential authorizations were not permanently lost.
In regards to the apps, I followed the advice in the article you linked, however, my results differ: My iTunes does not say I've already purchased the app, and says I will be charged. While I could download them all, get charged, and report each in turn, that seems to be a rather poor way to go about things... and will result in my wife and Keeper of The Credit Card Finances stabbing me with sharp pointy things.
Still, opening my Purchase History page in Account Information clearly lists each purchase.

Could it be that my account feels that my applications are being synced to my old installation (the one that no longer exists)? This would explain why my iTunes now doesn't even have an Applications tab under Library. If so, how could I resolve that?

HT201412 iphone 4s apps will not reinstall on phone, stuck in waiting mode; new apps will only download if synced to itunes on PC

A few weeks ago about 7 of my apps had updates. I pressed update all and instead of it updating them, they were frozen for several days in "waiting" mode. Finally I was tired of this so I deleted the apps by pressing one and it activated the x to pop up on each app so I could delete. I deleted all the ones that were stuck in waiting, which was all the ones I was trying to recently update. I then went back to app store and redownloaded 1 of those that I had just deleted and it downloaded just fine. Tried that with others and and I got the same message before "waiting" and nothing. I've tried with all the previous apps and nothing new. I cannot at this point even download a new app from my app store on my phone. I can only upload new apps if I have downloaded them into itunes on my pc and then sync my phone to the itunes on the computer.
Today I came into itunes and under apps saw that many of them still needed to update. I clicked update all and they supposedly updated. Connected iphone to pc and tried to sync. It updated the working apps I still have and none of the old ones. I have tried to redownload my old apps via itunes on my computer but there isn't an option anymore, just says "downloaded."
Anything else I can do? I've tried shutting off, restarting, etc. and nothing has worked. I really don't want to have to reset to factory settings as I'm afraid I won't back up right and I'll loose all my pictures of my kids and other info.
Any help is appreciate! I use Verizon fyi and have had the phone about 10 mos with no problem till last month.

I have the exact same problem for the past 2 hours, and now I figure out how to solve it.
Go to iTunes then go to downloads, you will see something is stucked there which is not downloading, delete it, you don't have to delete all of them, only the one is not downloading.
The problem of my iPhone 4S iOS 5.01 came from iTunes U, just right after I started downloading some video clips or podcasts from iTunes U. I could not find any video clips in there, after 2 hours, I found the problem, it was in iTunes, downloads is happening in iTunes, not in iTunes U.
You don't need to restore your iPhone any more.

ITunes 11.0.2 crashes each time i try running/syncing app after connecting to the iPad mini.

I have never experienced this before and my iphone 4, still on iOS 6.1.2 is still able to load the apps perfectly with iTunes.
I have tried installing/uninstalling iTunes. Deleted the music/playlists in my iTunes folder. Restoring my iPad to previous backup.
But all have failed.
Is anyone experiencing the same problem or had this problem before? Please provide me some suggestions/help because it's getting really annoying being unable to load/sync my apps.

I have tried reseting the ipad as well but it didn't help. iTunes still crash each time i tried syncing the apps.
I authorized my friend's laptop to sync things into my iPad and it worked. I think the problem is with my computer but I dont know what went wrong because I never had this problem before.
I also did sfc/scannow with cmd but doesn't seem to solve the problem.
Any more ideas?

If you have a credit card on file on top of your gift card then it is asking you to confirm the security code for the card, which for a Visa or MasterCard is 3 digits located on the back, or AMEX has 4 digits on the front. This happens just to ensure that you are the account holder, and would happen from time to time whether it was a free or paid app, even if you have a credit through your gift card. This doesn't mean that your credit card will be charged.

I checked with SanDisk's own online support and they indicate that they have notified Apple of the issue.
According to SanDisk, the problem lies with Apple not having the iOS 8 version of the Safari browser having DRM decoding enabled that the Media Drive relies upon to decode and play iTunes DRM titles. Non DRM encoded videos will play in the browser.
DRM audio is not effected as this is handled by the native iOS music app.
As of the date of this post SanDisk have not been given a timeframe by Apple for this issue to be resolved.
I hope that Apple resolves this issue quickly as I have a large collection of DRM video titles on a 128Mb memory card installed in the Media Drive that I am unable to view.

thought that it was possible to have the same iTunes library on any machine that was authorised, a kind of cloud-iTunes I guess.

FYI: At that time I was using iPad 1 and the OS was still 3.1.x. Now I am using iPhone 4 and would like to restore the apps at least those that are compatible to my phone.

How to restore missing apps after a itunes sync?

Have iPhone 4 iOS 4.2.8
To install an app (Skype), my phone recommended I do it thru iTunes 10.5.2 (via usb tether)
Checked the sync box, selected the Skype app after I downloaded it in iTunes.
The sync process went thru a bunch of 'finding, removing, backing up' of my installed APPs.
When it was done, all my installed APPs were gone from my iPhone.
Tried doing the 'Restore' function, I believe.
That went thru some dialogs, but still no APPs were restored to my iPhone.
Some blogs say to use the 'Purchased' icon in the APP STORE app on the iPhone; there is no 'Purchased' icon. (there used to be, but not now)
Prior to Sycing I had more than 15 updates to install. I no longer have any updates, as the apps are gone I suppose.
Is there a back up of my iPhone APPS on my computer? The dialogs that were running and identifying the APPs that I have instaleld leads me to believe that iTunes was making a backup ,and that everything was fine.
Where are my APPs?

When, if ever, was the last time you synced your phone with that computer? It sounds to me like you either set up a new sync relationship with a computer other than the one you normally sync to, or you set up a sync relationship for the first time since you got your phone. In either case, you apparently did not read the warning dialogs that popped up telling you that your phone would be erased and the contents would be replaced with what was in iTunes on the computer.
You're going to have to re-download the apps that you're missing now. It's easiest to do this from the computer (especially now that you have a sync relationship established).
On the phone, open the app store. Click on updates. Click on purchased. Select "Not on This iPhone" and donwload the ones you want.
