Was going to try After Effects Trial Version. I tried to download it, but since I have Windows 8, a message popped up saying, "No apps are installed to open this type of link (aam)." I tried looking for a solution on the internet but I didn't get a solution.
I tried looking for an app in the store too but there weren't any results.

I'm from Austria, not so far away! The file that you've received seems to be a Windows Media File and you may need a special software for your iPad to be able to open it. I've found something HERE.

MAC PRO10.6.8 just downloaded file sent 5/2010 "BoogieWoogie" (1-wmv) I could play it then, but now it says I cannot open because its not in a format that Quicktime Player understands that I have to install addit'l software to open this type of file??? WHAT software and WHERE do I find it to download?

If anyone is running 10.8. or later, then they might have to right or control click on the installer or app to "Open" to bypass Gatekeeper controls at least once, then it learns it's a ok to be trusted program. -

I believe there is a technique which uses some similar suggestion to unwittingly tempt the user into installing malware, in order to be able to watch some (usually sexually explicit) video, so be aware of this ruse.
The only things I would download would be Perian that extends Quicktime, available here,

I have face time installed on my iMac but when I go to the app store it doesn't show installed and has a.99c price. All other apps show installed. Is this an upgrade?
The first thing to do: Make a backup of your iPhoto Library. Don't update iPhoto without having a backup of your iPhoto library.
When I tried I received the following message This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
This error message means, that you did not yet associate your copy of iPhoto (preinstalled on your Mac) with your AppleID by clicking the "accept" button at AppStore "Purchased" page.
First try to "Accept" iPhoto on the Purchased tab and try, if you then can update iphoto from the Updates tab.
Now check the "Purchased" tab. Is iPhoto among your Purchases to "Accept" or "Install"? Then accept and/or install.
If it is not possible, delete iPhoto from the Applications folder .
(don't empty the Trash).
If it is not among your Purchases, open the AppStore main tab, search for iPhoto using the Search field, and buy it from the AppStore. If you already owned any version of iPhoto '11, this purchase should be free, from earlier versions it may be a paid upgrade.

I can delete the existing software and re-install but I don't want to lose all my photos.
Your photos are in your iPhoto Library in your Pictures folder and not in the iPhoto application. Just back up the iPhoto Library as a precaution, but reinstalling iPhoto will not delete your iPhoto Library. -

I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with Internet Explorer and they way it handles opening file from the Internet. Sometimes it gives a prompt like this:
Which is great, I want to turn this on for all common document types (e.g. PDF, Word Docs, Zips). What I've found is you have to either untick the option 'Always ask before opening this type of file', or delete a registry key in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\AttachmentExecute
When I check my PC I find I don't have that option and the registry keys aren't present.
Could someone clarify this for me? I'm running IE11 and Windows 7.

I have a new laptop with windows 8.1 and when I try to extract the first tutorial file, I get the message 'The target cannot open this type of file'. How do I deal with this?
You can choose Other...from the open with menu. This will allow you to browse you applications folder for a different app to open the file with. Preview.app sounds like the best bet for you since you want to see the file quickly & not wait for an image editor to load.
Another option would be to control or right click on the file or a choose a number of files by command clicking on the files you want to see & choose slideshow from the contextual menu. This function can also be accesses from the gear icon at the top of the Finder window. This will allow you to view your photos in a slideshow manner (one at a time) or see them all at once (in an Expose manner). You can also send them directly to iPhoto from here.
To change which application opens your jpeg files select the file & command or right click & choose get info from the contextual menu. Near the middle of the get info window there is an option that says Open With: Choose an application from the drop down menu or choose other to browse for the application of your choice that will open the jpeg file. If you want your chosen application to always open these types of files select Change All. Once the file is selected the get info window can also be accessed from the file menu or by pressing command I. -

Yes, you can safely uninstall earlier, non-Cloud version of the apps. I presume you mean Photoshop CS6/CS5 and/or Lightroom 4 or 5?
Cloud apps, which are full versions, do not rely on the non-Cloud versions. -
I downloaded Ipad apps on my computer via Itunes but it won't sync.. its shows that apps are installed but won't appear on my Ipad4. I tried switching it of and still couldn't find it.
Restrictions was disabled.. i enebled it and place the "Installing Apps" on "on" but still nothing after sync.

No. Those apps need to be downloaded from the app store. However, since they are only free to those with new devices, you first need to set up and activate your iPod. Then, using the same ID you use to activate the device, sign into the app store and you should find that the apps are free for you.

If I understand your question correctly, you want to be able to generate a consistent, fixed URL to display a portlet. You can do that with portlet publishing. See http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14229/publishing.htm#i1045635 for the formats of portlet URLs. There should not be any additional configuration required.

I tried to open iPhoto just minutes after I was already using it and now it tells me that I "can't open the application "iPhoto.app" because it is not supported on this type of Mac". I worked fine earlier and there have been no recent updates that I know of on my computer. Can anyone help.
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always. -
Photoshop cs6.app won't run on this type of Mac
I have been running Photoshop CS5 Extended on my Mac for some time without any problems. I have just purchased a copy of Photoshop CS6 Extended, it seems to have installed correctly, but when I try to run it, I get the following message:
