No apps to update but counter says (4)
The "App Store" counter is "normally" correct when there are apps to update and zero's after updating. However, the county mysteriously stays at 4 when no updates are necessary and is "sometimes" 4 higher when updates are available.
BTW - This device is not upgradable to iOS 7
I had the the problem when I was on my Mac even though I do have a IPod 4th gen. It first told me there were 4 updates available then when I went to update it said there are no updates available for any of your apps. Then I went right to app store and saw update under the app in the app store but yet when I went back to iTunes it would first say I had 4 updates available and then it wouldn't.
Thinking this was some kind of bug I kept playing with it until finally it said again I have 4 updates available and was able to update all 4 apps.
2 of the apps are for the enhancement of iOS7 which were (Pandora) and Talk 4 Free (Magic Jack). I tested them out for compatibility hoping I didn't mess anything up because I run (6.1.3) and they're still running fine. I also checked under the apps that needed the update in app store to see there iOS compatibility and they still went back to iOS 5 or IOS 6.
I don't know why he has a problem though because he has iPod (5th gen) and (iOS7) but maybe it could be a bug no matter what you have or running . I mean just a general bug. I have iPod Touch 4 and was still eventually able to update even the iOS7 enhanced updates. 2 of the 4 were for iOS7 but it told me at first that all 4 had updates and then it told me no updates which would mean 4 again and only 2 of them were for the enhancement of iOS7. That's why I think this may be a general bug non-specific to what you are running.

If you are getting the blank app update screen, many, many people are having this problem over the last couple of days. It is a problem that Apple must fix now.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
1. Go to App Store
2. Select Purchased
3. Select All
4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store. Apple needs to fix this. It is a workaround only until then. -
I have logged in to my itunes account on a different computer and none of my purchased music is showing up. I also have plugged my iphone in to get updates but it says I will lose all media and apps if I don't update on the computer where I sync everything. I have authorized this new computer so I don't know what the problem is. I can't get on my old computer with my itunes account because the computer is broken. Not sure what to do

Correct. it does not magially appear in other places. It will only be where you put it.

Correct as well. Iphone will sync with one computer at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content.
You need to copy everything ( itunes library/contacts/pics/calendars/files/docs) from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old one, to the new one. -

I have tried updating my apps and software but it says my startup disk or hard disk is full. I deleted a lot of files and apps but they won't be erased from the trash. Please help.
For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article. If the display seems to be inaccurate, try rebuilding the Spotlight index.
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
In Photos:
File ▹ Show Recently Deleted ▹ Delete All
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then restart the computer. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation—not the mythical 10%, 15%, or any other percentage. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.

You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one. Note that ODS only works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you're running an older OS version, use GP.
Deleting files inside a photo or iTunes library will corrupt the library. Changes to such a library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS or GP can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
Install the app in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the corresponding line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. You'll be prompted for your login password.
The application window will open behind other open windows. When you scan a volume, the window will eventually show all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal. -

Many people are having this problem for the last couple of days. This is a problem that Apple has to fix. If you look around the forum, you will see many, many discusssions about this and they have been going on for a few days.

If you are the only user on your computer you probably don't have multiple user accounts set up and can disregard that. If you are using iTunes 11 go to View>Show Sidebar. Now see if your iPad appears under Devices on the left side when you connect it. If it does, click on the name of your iPad on the left side and your iTunes sync settings options will appear in folders with tabbed headings to the right.

My updates show i have 2 apps to update but when entering the app store and clicking on update it goes to a blank white screen and wont load.
I have reset my wifi so its not that i have also tried it on a different wifi can anyone help pleaseiOS 4.2.1 is the final version of iOS that an iPhone 3G will run, so you will not be able to use any apps that require iOS 4.3 or later. There is no way to get any later version of iOS onto your iPhone without serious hacking, something we cannot discuss here.
You do not get the option to update iOS directly from an iPhone until you have iOS 5 or later.

As of today, iOS 7 is available for Apple devices. I went to settings, then to general, and to software updates, but it says at iOS 6.1.3 my iPad 2 is up to date. How can I download https iOS 7?
Well, now is probably not a good time to try it. The servers are overloaded, and if you look at most of the posts on this site right now, people are getting hung up at various points of their download and activation.
You need to hook your device up to the computer you sync with and download it via iTunes, or keep checking your device until you see IOS 7 is available.
But my advice would be to wait - otherwise you are just going to be frustrated, and unable to use your device....

I tried to update my ipad through wifi and followed the steps. It says that update is complete however i must connect to itunes and restore the updates but itines says i dont have permission to do so. KIndly assist on the stages to follow. Screen is black ad i unable to work on it.

You can either wait it out or a work around has been found. In the app store click on the purchased tab. Your apps should come up and you can manually download each app (the apps that have updates will have banners on them)
