No archive icon in mail

iOS shows an archive icon in mail, to save documents. I have the newest updates, not able to archive. Any thoughts?

Where are you getting that information? You can only add additional mail boxes if you have an IMAP email account and the "archive" folder is a gmail thing.
If you go to your email account in the Mail app and look at the window where your inbox, trash folder and sent folder are - if there is an Edit button at the top of the window - tap that and then tap Add Mailbox at the bottom.
If the Edit button is not there - you cannot create folders on the iPad. Your email account is not IMAP. Only IMAP email accounts can create folders on the iPad. Any folders that you would already have in an IMAP account would sync to the device as well.

How do I change the "Trash" icon to "Archive" icon as the default setting in email using iPhone iOS7?

That is very much dependent on your Email account.
Go to Settings->Mail,Contacts,Calendars->Accounts->Your Account->Account->Advanced->Move Discarded Messages Into.
    Choose Archive Mailbox.
It may not be there if its not supported by your email provider.

  • Delete Archive folder in Mail?

I have two Macs on Yosemite. On one of them, I wanted to delete the Archive icon from the task bar, and I just removed it by dragging it out of the window.
On my Macbook Air, however, I can't get rid of the icon, and I can't delete the Archive mailbox.
What could be a difference between the two computers causing this inability to get rid of the Archive task bar icon or the Archive mailbox? I have no need for an Archive folder and I wanted deleted mail to go into a Trash folder.

I deleted the Archive folder, but it came back. I have no idea why it's there. I would like iit gone.

  • HT4207 Archiving gmail e-mails on MacBook Pro vs iPhone: Same action, different results

    The core issue:
The same action yields different results.
    The details:
First, I'm on my laptop looking at an e-mail sent to my gmail account and want to archive it so I hit archive and it goes to the archive folder; Second, I'm on my iPhone looking at an e-mail sent to my gmail account and want to archive it so I hit archive and it goes to the "All Mail" folder in my gmail account. The second part doesn't make me happy because it doesn't make any sense. In other words the same action results in two different results.
    Ideal solution:
Please tell me how to make the archive icon on my iPhone act like its righteous twin does on my MacBook Pro.
    Thanks!

Same question, but the reverse. I want Apple Mail on Mountain Lion to work like iOS with regard to archiving Gmail messages.

  • Trash Icon replaced by Archive Icon on IOS8

Can anyone explain why my iPhone6 with iOS8.1 has an Archive icon at the bottom of a mail item instead of a Trash Icon.  My iPad2 running iOS8.1 still has the Trash Icon. If this is normal for the iPhone6, is there any way to change it back. Really annoying change by Apple.

    Hello Steve,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
You don't mention what kind of email set up you have, but while this article discusses Gmail, it also explains how you can select to move discarded messages into either the Archived Mailbox or the Deleted Mailbox.

  • What happened to the attachment icon in Mail?

I just upgraded to Lion, and I noticed that there wasn't an icon for mail attachments.  I looked into preferences and no option there.  I have to go into the menu to attach a file.  What happened?  That seems to be a pretty basic function.

You're right - it's not there, but it's such a long time since I've used it, I hadn't missed it! You can either go to File > Attach file, or do what I always do which is to open the folder containing the doc(s) you want to attach and simply drag onto the body of the email. You can also select more than one doc at once by using the Shift key (or the Apple key if they are not sequential) and attach several.

why are icons in mail tool bar not in color and iphoto also

Have you done a sampling of all users, or only those users that don't like it? While I don't mind it, I don't think I even noticed it at first until someone pointed it out.
I note that if you get Info on an item the icon is still colour so this is some OS level (we know best) overaly that's turning everything bland and boring, it would be nice if Apple let the user actually chose this rather than force it upon them ... just like Microsoft I'm sad to say.
Microsoft? The '90s are over. But regardless of what decade you are living in, Apple has never been too big on end-user customization of the operating system. Apple has always discouraged the use of "themes" whereas Microsoft will allow people to do pretty much whatever they want.
The file system icons are still the same as they have always been. The new monochrome icons are clearly a design trend more than any change to the underlying operating system. If you turn off the expanded view in any file save dialog (other than in Safari), you can still see the old, glorious, multicoloured icons. If you really wanted to, I'm sure you could change the system-level images and make Finder and Mail look just like they used to.

  • How can I change the icons in Mail?

I recently upgraded to Yosemite. I hate how the icons in Mail are REALLY BIG which causes me to have to scroll a lot to see my lists of folders. Is there a way to make them smaller?

    Nevermind. I figured it out:
System Preferences > General > Sidebar Icon Size
BTW, that vivid neon blue for, most notably, radio buttons and arrows on pulldown menus, is really annoying.

When I hit the attach icon in mail I can select folders but not individual files

    Hmm....
It all smells like third party software conflict.  Can you think of any candidates for third party stuff that interacts with mail, attachments, the file system?

How can I change colour or design to the folder icons in Mail ?

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Does he eggs icon in Mail tell me I have attachments?  Can't open them.

I assume the eggs icon in Mail shows up to let me know I have attachments. Yes? No? At any rate, if that is the case, I can't open them. I click on them, I swear at them, I make them unreal promises, nothing happens. Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

Eggs icon??? If you have an attachment you will see in the Preview panel you have an attachments column - if this is not showing to go View > Columns > Attachments and make sure that's ticked.

  • More greaters icons in mail

    Hello
I search how I can increase the size of icons in mail toolbar.
Or change icons with more greaters

I just did a quick test - the problem does not occur when I change the second display's position in in the System Preferences to the left from the main screen.
Why Apple? Please leave my icons where I want them (and since it's the default position also where you want them)

  • Two Icons for Mail on desktop e

I have not clue how this happened but I now have two icons for mail, one in the dock, one on the desktop. I tired to move the one on the desktop to the trash but it will not do it. I get message that I can not put in trash because it is open. Even tho it is not open... any one know how I can get rid of the icon on the desktop?

you may have dragged and dropped the mail app icon to the dock inadvertently. quit mail and if you do not want mail to be displayed on the dock, then go to the dock and drag that mail icon to the desktop, it should then "poof" disappear, and you can continue using the icon on the desktop if that is what you want to do.
    hope this helps
