No Attachments with IMAP Client

We are having an intermittent issue where we cannot see attachments using an IMAP client. I thought this might've been a NotifyLink issue, but we still have the problem when using Thunderbird via IMAP. I saw some other threads about missing attachments with IMAP, but I did not see any addressing GW8.0.2, which we have across the board. Any ideas on how to correct? If I missed a thread that addresses this, please point me to it.
Thanks,
-Jason

  • Sending to Groups with IMAP client

I have a user that is wondering if there is a way to send to a GroupWise group from his phone using the IMAP client. An example would be a Group we have named "All" that includes all company employees. He wants to send to [email protected] I don't think this is possible unless you are connecting with Web Access client, but it doesn't hurt to ask....
    Thanks for any ideas.

Just to count beans, IMPA isn't relevant here, as IMAP is strictly for
receiving mails only. Sending is SMTP, just like any other sent email to
your server. SO yes, groupwise *can* accept mail to groups, if it's
configured to do so (expand groups on incoming messages in the GWIA).
But of course, that makes those addressable by anybody, not limited to
    "your" phones or clients.

  • Unopenable Attachments with imap (groupwise server)

I get my mail from an imap host. If I am on a slowish line and I have large attachments
coming in, then after (what seems an eternity) negotiating with the server while say > 20
items are loaded into my inbox, some of the messages will have the attachment and
those attachments can't be opened (even if saved elsewhere).
If I go to the server via a web page, I can see the mail message and manually download
the attachment using the web interface, so I know they are okay.
Once I managed to "fix" it by moving the message to another folder on the imap server
then accessing the message again via this folder back in Mail. The same thing happened
in Tiger. I can't be the only one with this problem. It happens when Mail seems to be doing
lots of things (as shown in the activity window).

We are having similar issues. We have a single imap account (with about 15-20k emails active) that is being shared between 4 computers. The synching and updating between them is extremely slow and clunky.
Do we need to archive old messages? Is there a way to do this that all computers have access to the archive? What is the best method to deal with this?
Is the number of messages even the problem?
    Thank you

Hi Kursten, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Have you tried Port 587 instead of 25 for the .me account anyway?

  • Email Sender's display name not displaying/resolving on internal emails with POP/IMAP clients

Here's the scenario. I have two 2013 test accounts setup in Outlook as POP/SMTP accounts. I have their name setup as initials in the outlook account (the "Your Name" field).  If I send an email (Through SMTP) to a 2013 Exchange(Outlook
Anywhere) client, their names resolve to their actual Display Name in the GAL which is correct.  Now if I send an email to another 2013 POP/IMAP user, their name shows what is setup in Outlook which is their initials which is not correct.
Now we are currently in the process of a 2007 to 2013 migration.  I do not see this behavior on the Exchange 2007 side with POP/IMAP clients.  If I run the same test setup with a 2007 mailbox as the recipient, the sender's name resolves to
their GAL display name and NOT the name configured in the Outlook Account settings.  It doesn't matter whether the sender is a 2007 or 2013 account.  As long as the recipient is on 2007 it works fine.
This is all tested using authenticated SMTP.  The only difference I can tell is that the 2007 servers resolve the name before delivering it to the inbox where the 2013 servers don't.
There aren't any GAL or Address Book related issues on the 2013 side.  Full exchange clients or OWA work correctly.

    Hi,
It seems to be related to the permission settings on the receive connector. For example, using a Receive Connector for Anonymous Relay. We can refer to this article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996395(v=exchg.141).aspx
And we can use the tool Dsacls to check the permissions:

  • Exchange 2013 resource forest deployment, auth error with imap/pop3 clients.

    Hello Everyone!
We have an issue with pop/imap clients trying to authenticate.
Users log on with credentials from Account Forest, security audit shows a succesful log on and impersonation from process Microsoft.Exchange.Pop3.exe, but fails to login to mailbox.
The following warning appears in the event log:
    Log Name:      Application
    Source:        MSExchangePOP3
    Date:          22/01/2014 11:41:29
    Event ID:      2005
    Task Category: (1)
    Level:         Warning
    Keywords:      Classic
    User:          N/A
    Computer:      exchangeCAS
    Description:
User [email protected] wasn't found in Active Directory.
Protocol logs show the same warning.
Seems that Microsoft.Exchange.Pop3.exe process is unable to determine the linked mailbox of the provided credentials.

    Thanks for your answer.
We can access this mailbox with any protocol but pop/imap.
Anyway, I think that I found something.
In an isolated enviroenment, with an Active directory trace (Performance Monitor tool) those are the LDAP querys with some tests:
Trying to log on with an account in the same forest as the mailbox:
    User string: resource.forest\administrator\userA_linkedMB
    LDAP Query: ( (mailNickname=userA_linkedMB) ( !(msExchCU=*) )  ....
    Success, as expected.
Trying to log on with an account in the account forest:
    User string: account.forest\userA\userA_linkedMB
    LDAP Query: (  (sAMAccountName=userA) ( !  (msExchCU=*) ) ....
First, in this case the query seems incorrect, I expect it filtering by mailNickname and with the third part of the logon string. Of course it fails because there isnt any user with this SAM in the resource forests.
Same test, with resource.forest\userA, sAMAccountName = userA
    User string: account.forest\userA
    LDAP Query: (  (sAMAccountName=userA) ( !  (msExchCU=*) ) ....
This query returns 1 matching user, but seems that pop3 process checks if its from account.forest (it isn't of course, because query is sent to resource.forest DC) and fails.
I'm not sure, but seems a bug in the POP3/IMAP login code.

  • Outlook IMAP client authen to CUCMBE-UC with LDAP/AD integration

I have a CUCME 7.1(3). instlallation which is integrated into AD's LDAP for user population and authentication.  Users can log into the UC PCA (/ciscopca)
and authenticate their username/password against AD successfully.
I'm trying to setup Outlook clients but I cannot authenticate my client when testing the connection to UC. My username's SMTP address is [email protected]
and when I set-up my IMAP outlook client I am using an email address of [email protected], server information for IMAP has incoming and outgoing server address 10.1.1.1 (10.1.1.1 is my CUCMBE-UC address). I am using my username and password which works for ciscopca access (via AD authen). But when I test my connection it just kicks back the test that the log in failed.
Is there a problem with authentication IMAP clients to UC-IMAP when AD auth/integration is used in Business Edition or am I missing something.
    THANKS!!

So, there is one portion of the document that I sent you I'd like to focus in on and ask if you've tried this and, if not,
    please do:
Configure the corporate email address of each user  as an SMTP proxy address for the user. When setting up the Connection  IMAP account on user workstations, use the corporate email address of  the user, rather than the Connection-specific email address, in the IMAP  settings. In this way, users do not need to know an extra set of email  addresses for addressing voice messages in the email client, and are  insulated from changes to the Connection-specific addresses if the  Connection SMTP domain is changed.
In other words, you would have the following:
    AD User = jdoe
CUC User = jdoe (synced from AD)
Corporate SMTP/Email Address = [email protected]
CUC SMTP/Email Address = [email protected]
For jdoe's CUC user account, configure the SMTP proxy address to be the corporate email address ([email protected]).
When you set the IMAP connection in Outlook, specify the SMTP Proxy Address as the connection name NOT the CUC SMTP address.  You would also provide your AD password just like you do with PCA.
Have you tried to see if that yields different results?

  • My email account in Mail.app is IMAP, but when I delete emails, they don't delete from other devices connected to the mail server with IMAP. Deleted mail on other devices delete as normal from the server and thus from other devices as normal.

MacBook Pro, late 2011 version. Up to date Mountain Lion.
My email account in the Mail.app is set up as IMAP, but when I delete emails in the Mac Mail App, they are not deleted from the mail clients of the other devices that are connected to the mail server with IMAP. IMAP works perfectly between Windows Outlook 2010, iPad Mail App and Android default mail client. Deleted messages behave correctly, as in delete from one device and the mail is deleted from all devices.
Having just tested in reverse order on the Mac; emails deleted from the email client on Windows, iPad and Android are not deleted in the Mac Mail App.  It appears that the account is behaving like POP rather than IMAP.
Any advice on how to have IMAP work correctly on the MacBook Pro Mail.app?
    Thank you.

Hi Csound1, thanks. The email host is 1and1.co.uk, however, i am going to fess up and make myself look like a plonker now -
the email account in question was set up in Outlook as POP - stupid, stupid, stupid me, wasted an afternoon on this!  I have now changed the Outlook account to IMAP and Mail.app works perfectly - and looks much nicer than Outlook did.  Im in the middle of converting from Windows to a Mac, and still finding my way around the Mac
The lesson learned, never assume - always double  check!  All my other email addresses with 1and1 are all imap, except this one, and it happened to be the first one I set up in the Mail.app. (bows head in disgrace!)
Thank you anyway for attempting to help me!
    Cheers

  • V31.5 no longer works with IMAP over VPN - v31.4 is OK

I have been using TB for several years with IMAP accounts accessed over VPN. This was working fine until I upgraded to v31.5. After this upgrade, TB would leave rotating circle symbol indefinitely (more than 15 minutes, no timeout message or error message). This was only happening with my IMAP account subscriptions over VPN - POP accounts were still working perfectly. With the VPN IMAP accounts the message preview did not update (no new messages, old messages no longer on the IMAP server still showing on preview pane). Had my IT guy spend over an hour checking everything at the VPN / IMAP host end and he was unable to find any problems - he advised the system showed what looked like a normal connection between my PC and the mail server.
I then tried deleting the IMAP account subscriptions from TB, shut down & restarted, then tried re-creating IMAP subscriptions - still no go. We tried a different e-mail client and it worked fine with the same IMAP accounts over the same VPN connection. Ended up uninstalling TB (v31.5) and installing v31.4 - all working fine again on v31.4.
I might add it has taken an amazing effort to find a way to report this problem - I've had to create an account just to send comment - a bit overboard for a non-programmer.
Even when I uninstalled v31.5 I was offered an option to report feedback - but it brought up a dead link in my browser.
Aside from this problem I am a very happy TB user and extend my sincerest gratitude to those who have made this fantastic product available to users around the world. Thank You.

Maybe it is this bug: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154969
The decisive effect is 'Improved window management' - if this effect is enabled kwin works normally.

  • Problem with Variable Client Support

    Hello,
I work with Labview 8.5 and Crio 9014.
I have a problem with  Variable Client Support. When I try to compile my project I have the following error:
"The Network Variable Engine and Variable Client Support must be installed on the RT target for this application to function properly..."
I have read that we have to install the Variable Client Support in Measurement and Automation by right-clicking on the software and then choosing add/remove software but I can't install the appropriate shared variable components because I can't see neither Network Variable Engine and Variable Client Support. So what can I do?
    Can somebody help me?
    Thanks

I have exactly the same problem. I wanted go through the "Getting Started with the LabVIEW RT module" and when I use wizard for generating new project I get same notification in my VI...
The Network Variable Engine and Variable Client Support must be installed on the RT target
for this application to function properly. If the Network Variable Engine is not supported on
the target (e.g. FP-2000 with <32MB of RAM), open the project and move the variable library
to My Computer in the project. Doing this will deploy the variables to localhost but
will still require that Variable Client Support be installed on the RT target.
    Could someone help please ?

Your problem sounds like your settings are wrong. IMAP definitely works with ease.

  • Sending attachments with emails in Javamail

I'm trying to send attachments with emails using Javamail. Following is the code through which I'm trying to achieve that. It works as expected on a JRE1.6 environment. But on JRE1.5, the content of the file gets added to the mail body as text.I want the file to be sent as an attachment.
Any pointers on the observed difference in behavior would be highly appreciated!

            attachmentBodyPart.setFileName(fileDataSource.getName());
            attachmentBodyPart.setDataHandler(new DataHandler(fileDataSource));

            multipart.addBodyPart(mimeBodyPart);

  • Only one user don't get mails with IMAP

    Strange Problem.
I have stored 4 accounts on my iPhone and get mails only from 3 from the same PO.
With my own account "rupert" I get a message:"Server mail.company.at does not respond"
But i can send mails with my account very well.
This error occurs after moving all users into a new postoffice.
But all other user accounts are working well.
On the iPhone I have checked my own password, mail address, port and so on.
I have deleted my account in consoleone and create it new. Connected with the existing PO-User "userqtn.db".
On my workstation i can login with Groupwise-Client 8.0.3 without any problems.
The Groupwise Client works well and it must be a problem with my user ID and IMAP.
But I do not find the error.
What could be the reason for this problem?
The POA shows me the correct login:

Perhaps to be on the safe side, run a GWCheck against your user account.
Use either the standalone version of GWCheck or run the same check from ConsoleOne with following options (described here for a standalone version):
    1. Database type -> Post Office
    2. Database Path -> use a browse button to navigate in a location where is a wphost.db, the Post Office database
    3. Post Office Name -> fill in a Post Office name.
    4. Object type -> select User/Resource and type either a MailboxID or directly a user database file name.
    5. Action -> leave default Analyze/Fix Databases.
    6. Activate (only) Contents and Fix problems check boxes.
    7. Database tab -> activate only the User option
    8. Misc tab -> here type a string resfldr (or use alias string folderreset)
    9. Run.
Let us know how it goes.

I have been trying for hours to get email set up with Thuderbird client. I have dlownloaded Thunderbird and followed the instructions by entering the mail settings according to Hostgator cpanel into Thunderbird.
In Thunderbird, I go to Tools, Account Settings, Account Actions, Add Mail Account, and then I enter my name, email address which is [email protected] , then I enter my email password and click "continue"
Then, I click "Manual config" and fill out the fields:
    Incoming IMAP: mail.fasttractionmarketing.com

When I click "Send" Thunderbird tries to send the email and then after about 20 seconds I get the message
    "Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server mail.fasttractionmarketing.com timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator."
How Can I set this up properly so it will work? Please let me know, I've been trying to get this to work for hours. HostGator can't figure it out.
    Thanks,
    Sean Travis

  • Update PHP with IMAP (installing SugarCRM on 10.5.4)

I have seen parts of this covered before for 10.4.x but i am now trying to include c-client on 10.5.4.
    see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4598819&#4598819
I get sugar installed fine but on OSX when i try and set up mail it gives me this error:-
Inbound Email cannot function without the IMAP c-client libraries enabled/compiled with the PHP module. Please contact your administrator to resolve this issue.
*so far i have done the following.*
    sudo mkdir -p /SourceCache
    cd /SourceCache
    sudo curl -O ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/imap/c-client.tar.Z
    sudo tar xzf c-client.tar.Z
cd imap-200XX (folder will represent the latest version)
    sudo make oxp
    mkdir /usr/local/imap/include
    mkdir /usr/local/imap/lib
    cd c-client/
    cp *.h /usr/local/imap/include
    cp *.c /usr/local/imap/lib
    cp c-client.a /usr/local/imap/lib
    cd /usr/local/imap/lib
    ln c-client.a libc-client.a
    # i hate renaming when it might be needed in its real name.
i need to make mysql headers available too as trying to build php now brings up errors...
    see here.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306782
I think the mysql headers (or client libs) must be installed to make php with the same configure command that it was installed with
I have downloaded the same version of mysql that 10.5 uses mysql-5.0.45.tar.gz and have expanded that into the /SourceCache - it configures and makes without erros but i am unable to build php with the mysql statements included - see below
    cd /SourceCache
get php-5.2.6.tar.gz from your local mirror
    cd cd /SourceCache/php-5.2.6
    sudo ./configure --prefix=/usr --mandir=/usr/share/man --infodir=/usr/share/info --disable-dependency-tracking --with-apxs2=/usr/sbin/apxs --with-ldap=/usr --with-kerberos=/usr --enable-cli --with-zlib-dir=/usr --enable-trans-sid --with-xml --enable-exif --enable-ftp --enable-mbstring --enable-mbregex --enable-dbx --enable-sockets --with-iodbc=/usr --with-curl=/usr --with-config-file-path=/etc --sysconfdir=/private/etc --with-openssl --with-xmlrpc --with-xsl=/usr --with-pear --with-imap=/usr/local/imap --with-mysql-sock=/var/mysql --with-mysqli=/usr/bin/mysql_config --with-mysql=/SourceCache/mysql/mysql-5.0.45
I added my --with-imap=/usr/local/imap statement to include the libc-client c-client kit..
BUT i can only get it to build without the mysql statements.. do i really need mysql built in... it was in the original php configure script so i want to keep as much like the original as possible so i do not break things.
The build (with out mysql statmens) also throws up these few errors.. which is strange as these were in the build line from a info.php script i ran against the server...
Notice: Following unknown configure options were used:
    --disable-dependency-tracking
    --enable-trans-sid
    --with-xml
    --enable-dbx

my main source of info was from here...

looks like apple have come up against this before but is for an earlier version of MySQL so i would not install it.

It sounds like you need to download the MySQL headers. Yes you do need MySQL.
Here's how I solved this problem. I used this thread as my basis:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6112771
My updated instructions are located below with sources. I had to complete these steps again today. You had better get good at this, because Leopard updates may force you to repeat these steps. I completed this stuff back in Dec and here I am again. I did not have to re-download, but that means that I am using older versions of these programs/modules. BTW - the older stuff still works for SugarCRM. You may be using more updated files if you are downloading/have downloaded newer stuff, make sure to adjust these instructions for the newer updated files and folders.
BTW - I just realized that you may be on a workstation, you may need to change the "/usr/lib" and "/usr/include" to "/usr/local/lib" and "/usr/local/include" respectively.
    Good luck!
It took me a while to get this going, but I was able to install SugarCRM on Mac OS X using the following threads as my guideline. My major problem was missing MySQL Headers preventing PHP 5 from being compiled.
MySQL headers were missing from the Mac OS X Server distribution and I needed to get these before starting (see thread: http://lists.apple.com/archives/macos-x-server/2007/Nov/msg00277.html). Then, I followed the steps to download and compile PHP 5 with IMAP. Followed the steps to compile PHP5 and then once I recompiled PHP, Apache did not work, so I recompiled Apache.
If you can not compile PHP and it stops at searching for the MySQL headers, you can download them here (see thread: http://lists.apple.com/archives/macos-x-server/2007/Nov/msg00277.html).
As per the thread, you can download the headers from here:
    (Follow instructions in ReadMe)
    download and unpack from:
    http://www.opensource.apple.com/darwinsource/other/MySQL-43.binaries.tar.gz
    sudo tar -xzvf MySQL-43.root.tar.gz -C /
Follow steps for recompiling php and IMAP in THIS thread from David Shauger1 (Thanks David)
To install the IMAP extensions do this (as root):
    sudo mkdir -p /SourceCache
    cd /SourceCache
You may not need to download new c-client - look in /SourceCache for prior downloads (this note is for me)
    sudo curl -O ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/imap/c-client.tar.Z
    sudo tar xzf c-client.tar.Z
    sudo mv imap-2006k imap-2006h
    cd imap-2006h
    sudo make oxp
    cd c-client
    sudo cp *.h /usr/include
    sudo cp *.c /usr/lib
    sudo cp c-client.a /usr/lib/libc-client.a
Then, download recompile the latest version of PHP 5 following these instructions:
    http://downloads.topicdesk.com/docs/UpdatingPHP_on_OS_XServer.pdf
You may not need to download a new PHP - look in /SourceCache for a previous download (this note is for me)
    mkdir -p /SourceCache
    cd /SourceCache
    curl -O http://us3.php.net/distributions/
    php-5.2.6.tar.gz
    tar xzpf php-5.2.6.tar.gz
    cd /SourceCache/php-5.2.6
    sh
    CFLAGS=-DBIND8COMPAT
    export CFLAGS
    php configuration command:
    sudo ./configure --prefix=/usr --mandir=/usr/share/man --infodir=/usr/share/info --disable-dependency-tracking --with-apxs2=/usr/sbin/apxs --with-ldap=/usr --with-kerberos=/usr --enable-cli --with-zlib-dir=/usr --enable-trans-sid --with-xml --enable-exif --enable-ftp --enable-mbstring --enable-mbregex --enable-dbx --enable-sockets --with-iodbc=/usr --with-curl=/usr --with-config-file-path=/etc --sysconfdir=/private/etc --with-mysql-sock=/var/mysql --with-mysqli=/usr/bin/mysql_config --with-mysql=/usr --with-openssl --with-xmlrpc --with-xsl=/usr --without-pear --with-imap --with-imap-ssl
    make
    make install
    exit
Finally, follow steps for recompiling apache
    Read entire thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5676677&tstart=0)
    1. Download the Apache2 source from http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi (latest version is 2.2.9) and extract it.
    2. Open Terminal and go to that directory. If you extract sources into your Downloads folder, type "cd ~/Downloads/httpd-2.2.9" and hit return
    3. Type "./configure --enable-layout=Darwin --enable-mods-shared=all" and hit return
    4. Wait for the process to complete and then type "make" and return
    5. Wait for the process to complete and then type "sudo make install" and return
