You did everything 'right' and yet in most cases such as you present, it turns out to be a bad SATA cable 99% of the time.
I, too, have a Late 2011 15" model and never had a problem with my SATA cable and my SSD. Most people don't. But then there are those few who do.
You can likely find a 'warrantied' cable on www.ifixit.com - however, I've never heard of anyone having problems with the much less expensive options on eBay!

  • My old iPad has purchased movies on it from iTunes Store, however they do not appear on my new iPad - what can I do to fix this? Thanks

My old iPad has purchased movies on it from iTunes Store, however they do not appear on my new iPad - what can I do to fix this? Thanks. My new iPad air is wifi only

You might, depending upon what country that you are in (redownloading films isn't possible in all countries), the studios that they are from (even where redownloading is possible not all studios have agreed to it), and whether they are still in your country's store (studios ocassionally remove their films), be able to redownload them on your new iPad via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app.
If not then you will need to connect your old iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy them over to it via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, and you can then sync them to your new iPad.

Gee... maybe you should try contacting iTunes support like the message told you to do.

  • Movie rentals that I downloaded onto iMac with Lion to do not show up on ATV 2 in menu for computers.  Purchased movies show up just fine.  What to do or look for?

I have an imac that is running lion and an Apple TV generation 2.  I have rented a movie from itunes and it shows up on my imac in Itunes under a rental icon, and will play fine on my computer.  However, it does not show up as choice to play on my apple tv.  I have homesharing enabled and everything else works fine including purchased movies that are on my imac, but no where does it show rental movies.
What do I look for?  What do I do to play the rental movie on my apple tv 2?

    Answer to my own question:
Wait until the downloaded rental has completed its download to the imac.  This took a long time for me, since it was part of several things that I was downloading at the same time.
Finally, it showed up on my apple tv.   Interestingly, I was able to watch much of the movie on my iMac before the movie finished its download and was available to the ATV 2.

  • New movies show up in iTunes a week before ATV.

I have noticed that some new movies that show up in iTunes take a week or 2 longer to show up on Apple TV. Whats the deal? Also, can I rent the movies from my PC with iTunes and watch them on the ATV?

    This link was posted:
    http://www.appletvjunkie.com/
which apparently lists all new movies.
You should be able to rent in the US as far as I'm aware on a PC.
Can't confirm as I'm in UK and can't rent at all!

  • Purchased movies not shown in itunes (but on Apple TV and iPhone 6)

    Hello,
I bought some movies on apple tv and they are shown correctly on iPhone 6 (iOS 8.1.2) and Apple TV 3.
But I can't see them (the movies library is shown empty) in iTunes 12 on my MacBook Air (mid 2012, Yosemite 10.10.1).
My music is shown correctly with iTunes match so i don't think it's a problem with iCloud.
Any ideas what i can do to see my purchased movies in iTunes?
Thank you a lot and happy new year!!
    Peter

I've had this issue a couple of times on my Apple TV (3rd gen). I managed to get the newly matched content to show up a couple of times by editing the metadata for the album and then changing it back to the original (i.e. I changed the album title to add an 'X' to the end of it, then changed it back to the original) and it somehow triggered the iTunes Match on the Apple TV to update itself. I haven't really found a way to force Match on the Apple TV to update itself if it's being stubborn. Best of luck getting this sorted.

  • ATV Purchased Movies Missing

    Hi,
This has happened twice to me in the past week. I purchased a movie from iTunes and started the download from Apple TV. I started watching the movie on my TV, fell asleep and when I checked for the movie in the ATV menu the next day (My Movies), it was nowhere to be found.
I checked my Time Machine backups and couldn't locate it either. I contacted Apple and they provided a second download (I downloaded it from iTunes rather than ATV) and haven't had a problem with that movie.
I downloaded a second movie from ATV (iTunes) and had the same result (started watching; fell asleep with the movie running and couldn't find it the next day). Apple provided another download without explaining why the problem is occurring.
It almost seems like the purchase is being treated as a rental and deletes itself after a viewing is completed.
    Anyone else experiencing this?
    Thank,
    kayjh

    Alley,
ATV is set to sync with iTunes,
If so when you right click on AppleTV device in iTunes one of the options will be transfer purchases and another Turn off Syncing
but when I purchase something on ATV I assume it gets sync'd back to iTunes (or downloads directly to iTunes and will stream to ATV in the future when I select it.
It should theoretically reverse sync to iTunes to keep things 'synced' and also to allow you to make a backup somewhere.
This should happen automatically but is not always the case fro some people, and when it doesn't reverse sync there's often no obvious remedy other than to contact iTunes Store support.
Can you test this say with a free podcast download to AppleTV which should sync back?
If it's not transferring back then I'd recommend you stick with downloading to iTunes for now, you may need to try something radical like a factory restore of AppleTV which will wipe content/settings. Alternatively it might be an iTunes issue of some kind, but either way can be hard to nail down.

  • Purchased movie not playing in itunes

trying to play my purchased movies in itunes and screen is black.  counter is running and chapters show up but no video or audio.

Try repair your QuickTime through Control Panel.

  • Purchased movie sync-back to iTunes causes Freeze

iTunes consistently freezes while transferring a purchased movie from the Apple TV to the iTunes Library during a sync. iTunes always freezes at the same point in the transfer, and is 100% repeatable. In fact, I have not been able to to use iTunes since making this movie purchase on the Apple TV.

The transfer consistantly fails about 25% completion. Not sure of the exact %, but the bar always stops at the same position.
There is no failure message. iTunes begins to consume 100% CPU utilization, and must be force quit. It is unresponsive.
This was the first purchase made since upgrading to v2.3.
I have restarted both my MacBook, and the Apple TV with no change in results.
I am unable to use iTunes because it freezes (see above) as soon as it finds the Apple TV on the network and begins to transfer the purchased movies to the iTunes Library.

  • Have movies show up in iTunes that I store elsewhere

I have a buttload of movies and videos that I have converted to the iTunes/Ipod format. I am very quickly running out of hard drive space (1 TB hard drive)
Is there anyway I can burn these movies to a DVD and still have them show up in iTunes so I can keep track of what movies I have.
    Additional Info.
The movies are not bought from the itunes store, they are my own that I converted.
I want to take Movies 1,2,3,4 and 5. Burn them to a DVD. Delete them from the computers hard drive. While still having them show up in iTunes. (i know i wont be able to play them unless I add them back to the HD)
Basically im looking for a way to use iTunes as a movie cataloger.
    OR
Do you know of any good software to catalog movies that links to or integrates into iTunes, so I can use Remote on my iPod touch as a remote control to watch movies. (PS im on a windows Vista home basic PC so I don't get to use Media Center...Im starting to dislike Microsoft. The Apple minis lookin awful cute in them white shorts)
    Thanks in advance

Yes, you can burn them to DVD and remove them from your PC's hard drive, but not from the Movie list in the iTunes window.
If you try to play them in itunes, you'll get a ! +file not found, would you like to locate it+ ? message.
Then pop your DVD in and browse to the file on the DVD, and it should play, as long as the DVD is there.
You could also store the movies on an external hard drive and do the same thing.

  • Burn Purchased Movies To DVD from Itunes

How do I create a DVD from movies that I purchase from Itunes? It allows me to burn a DVD that another computer can play but not a DVD Player.

Does that mean the only way to watch my purchased movie on TV would be to hook the computer to the TV??
You can use a computer or an AppleTV or an iPod/iPad/iPhone connected to the TV.

  • Why wont my purchased playlist show up into itunes

Why wont my purchased playlist show up into itunes

It may have been deleted. Nonetheless, you can recreate it:
    -Go into iTunes
-Click File > New Smart Playlist...
-On the first dropdown menu in the Smart playlist creator, select "Purchased"
-For the second dropdown menu, make sure "is true" is selected, thus recreating your Purchased playlist

  • Can't transfer purchased movie from iPhone to iTunes library

I purchased a movie from iTune store on my iPhone. When I sync'd the iPhone with iTunes an icon was created in iTunes movie library, but there's no movie, just an icon. The purchased movie is still on my phone. I've re-sync'd, re-built iTunes, etc... No luck.
How do I get the movie from the iPhone to iTunes movie library?
I've researched this for a couple weeks and have failed at every turn.
    Any input would be appreciated.

    tried that long ago...:)

  • Make Movies Show up in Itunes

I'm streaming a folder on my computer to my ATV. In Itunes i have the folder listed as my music location under preferences (ie. C:\Shared) Can anyone tell me why when i copy a movie into the folder Itunes will not see the new movie i copied in unless i choose File --> Add Folder to Library (each time i copy a new movie to the folder). Then Itunes will see the files and so will ATV. The problem is I dont want to manually have to add the folder again everytime i copy a movie into the folder. (multiple users have access to the folder so new movies are copied into it regularly) Any ideas? Thanks.

As far as I know, there is no way to get iTunes to continually (or even periodically) check it's folders to see if there are new files there. iTunes is designed to be used to have files added THROUGH it, so when files are added into iTunes by other programs or Windows Explorer, etc, it won't see them until you manually tell it to LOOK for them.
It kinda stinks that you can't have it check every hour or something, but it might be possible to look into writing a script to do just that. But I'd be wary of any script like that, personally, because it would always have the possibility of easily becoming an unending loop of checking, or just slow your computer down horribly. But on the other hand, if written correctly, it might work really well.
