No Audio after upgrade to QT 7.3

My Apple Quicktime upgraded to version 7.3 today. Once it upgraded, I no longer have audio from an instructional CD I am using. The video is ok.
I read an article here and tried to use the A/V Controls but they are grayed out on my PC. I can see the volume slider is all the way left but with the menu grayed out, I can't change it.
That's when went to the Windows XP machine and the instructional CD's audio was fine. I checked for upgrades and allowed the upgrade to Quicktime 7.3 on that PC and after the upgrade no longer had audio on that PC either.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling QT 7.3 but still have no audio with the mentioned CD.
Is there a fix for this problem? I need to play and hear the mentioned instructional CD badly.

A friend of mine called up with the same issue and I solved it whilst over the phone. Glad it wasn't long-distance.
Open your Audio MIDI Setup application (found in Applications > Utilities).
Ensure that your audio is set to: 44100.0Hz, and 16bit (on my machine its 2ch, but you may have more channels, depending on your setup). My friend found that the installation of Quicktime 7.3.x forced his audio to 32bit, which essentially muted the sound.

Problem with audio after upgrade

Hi all,
I am experiencing some audio issues after upgrading my MBP8,2 15" (early 2011 with i7 2GHz processor and 16 GB RAM) to OS X Yosemite. In particular, sometimes the audio simply doesn't work with internal speakers - the volume indicator goes up and down but I don't ear anything - and with external speakers I need to unplug and plug the connector often because they stops working, and in this case neither the volume indicator works.
Does anybody is experiencing the same issues? Could anybody please help?

Same issue over here and even worse.
1. My system even changes Audio-Devices randomly on it's own.
2. Sometimes I have to restart programs after switching a Audio-Device manually to make it work.
3. Sometimes audio completely stops working by chance.
4. When I want to select a different Audio-Device sometimes it works with "Audio-Midi-Setup"-App, sometimes it works with "Systempreferences" -> Audio.
Sometimes with none of both. -.-
5. Clicking on the audio sign in the menubar while holding "alt/opt" in order to change Audio-Devices works not, too.

Microphone Problem in Beats Audio after upgrading to Win 10

I have a HP Envy 15 j103tx laptop which I recently upgraded to Windows 10. After upgrading, the sound worked well but the little checkbox next to the output source stopped working. As you can see I have two playback devices: one my laptop's speaker and other my tv's speaker which I have connected with a hdmi. I cannot select my device through the checkbox now. It doesn't do anything. Similarly, I also cannot select the Internal Microphone of my laptop. Due to which my microphone no longer works. But to no avail. I request Hp to solve my problem as soon as possible.

No audio after upgrade to iTunes 7.1.1.5 on XP

I ran iTunes-6 until I got a new 80GB iPod which requires version 7. iTunes-6 ran fine; after the upgrade I have no sound although I can watch the play progress bar move as sounds play; sync to the iPod works fine. During the upgrade iTunes threw this error:
"An error occurred while updating the default player for audio file types. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
This message continues to pop up whenever I start up iTunes.
This is my home Pentium-4, 2GHz Windows-XP box which I have full access permissions over. iTunes-6 ran fine. With no sound I can't preview songs in the store or play anything from my library (can only hear through the new iPod).
I ran through everything with Apple Support -- complete reinstall of iTunes and QuickTime, plus upgraded audio drivers and all the config stuff recommended on the support pages (such as disabling the Sound Enhancer)...still no sound; even created a new user with admin rights. Sounds works great in every other app but iTunes.
I was surprised that my support technician and the senior techs he consulted hadn't encountered this before; in fact, they didn't seem that much interested in pursuing a fix because they said it wasn't a common error.

Can't play .amr files (MMS audio) after upgrading to iOS4

I was able to play .amr files (MMS audio) prior to upgrading to iOS4 on my iPhone 3G but now get a notice saying this file type is not supported. Does anyone know how I can play these files on my phone again? Thanks!

I just noticed that today too.

Loss of audio after upgrade os x 10.7.5, reset PRAM, SMS, updated software and other recommendations i could find. Master volume sliders inactive in Audio Midi section. Can see sound bar responding it input on line in but is not being internally routed.

Recently upgrade to OS x 10.7.5 resulted in loss of what appears to be internal communication of line in audio, and output. Have tired several remedies including resetting PRAM, SMS, updating all software, multiple Sound and Audio Midi applications adjustments to no avail. Also no audio is recognized on USB mixing board I tried as well, though Audio USB Codec was displayed. THe master volume sliders and other options are greyed out on Audio Midi application whn I try to troubleshoot that. Nothing external will play through computer speakers, but internal sounds and iTunes play normally.I made sure the audio sampling rates were default. Software issue or soundcard/hardware failure.?..Pullin my hair out!

Might be corrupted sound preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following;
/Library/Preferences/Audio
Click Go then move both .plist files from the Audio folder to the Trash.
com.apple.audioDeviceSettings.pllist
com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
Restart your Mac. See if that made a difference ...

M2t (mpeg2 layer2 audio) Out Of Sync audio after upgrade to cs5

Hi Everyone,
We use JVC GYHD201 Cameras daily - they produce MPEG T/S files that worked fine in CS4.
I am running win 7 Ultimate 64 on an intel Skulltrail MB w 16 gig of ram, 2 x 9775 quad core processors and a ati 4870x2 video card with 2 gigs of ram.
Here is the chain of events,
Lots of projects in cs4, no transcoding files work straight from the camera's DVR. (720p30)
I decide to CS5
I deactivate CS4 Install CS5 - CS5 trial works with all my projects and reads the now offending m2t files fine, works great.
I open AE CS4, - I get sorry to interrupt but enter a serial number or go to trial mode. I select trial mode.
Now, CS5 can no longer import the files.
I read about needing a full license for many formats, considering cs5 a nice upgrade, fork out the dough.
After entering serial numbers and restarting files import fine, BUT sound is out of sync by a 1-2 seconds and expotentially as the video plays out.
Files play fine in vlc, media player etc.
Codec Sniper shows all /cs4/mainconcept codecs as broken
I deinstall CS4/ CS5 and reinstall cs5 only, Same problem
I deinstall cs5, delete every folder with adobe on it in /user/ and prog files reinstall, same problem (cs4 installation fix)
I deinstall, delete all folders and create a new user install to that user, same problem (cs4 installation fix)
Reinstall quicktime ,...
I buy the Mainconcept mpeg2 64bit codec pack, same problem
Converting the video to MONO fixes the out of sync. -go figure.
Unfortunate, our operators are too lazy to shut off the second mic so quite often I have to copy left or right channel. Also, I have many left right recordings with 2 mics, this is not a solution I can live with. (Kudos to Mr. Jolly of Adobe video tech support in India for the Mono fix)
These same files open fine in a machine that has cs4 and cs5 installed on it,
want to get into transcoding to fix it, does anyone know who to force the adobe splitter to use the mainconcpt codecs I just bought or to force the use of whatever codecs are supposed to be included in cs5?
Any ideas would be appreciated.this has gone on for 3-4 days now and I am quickly falling behind on the work flow.

I am wondering is anyone can tell me where CS5 is looking for it's codecs??, it doesn't seem to be using windows

Click Audio after upgrading to Mavericks

Every time I pause audio recordings on my mac now that i have upgraded to Mavericks I get a click that appears. If I mute the computer and them bring the volume up it disappears. But when I do it again pause music again, same thing happens. It occurs in Sounds Studio and itunes. Any ideas how to correct it. It is a click that happens less than every second.

It shows this:
The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1.)
I had reinstall compressor and FCPX with no results...

Need help with skipping audio after upgrading to 10.9.1.

Having read the fine print, I now know that I should not have upgraded to 10.9.1 in the middle of a project. So, started with a brand new library/event/project and I am still getting dropped out audio. Video image is fine. When I scrub back and replay a clip, it sometimes plays better but still skips - only in new places.
Tech info: shooting with Canon C-100 converting files through Brosoft MTS (422 HQ - Audio pcm_s161e at 48000hz) using 2010 MacBook Pro with 345gb free on internal with 8gb of RAM and 380gb on Seagate external where files are located.
Any advice would be greatly appreciate. Oh yeah, happy new year....!

No Keyboard Click or Video Audio After Upgrade

Upgraded my 3GS to 3.1! Wish I had not!
1> Now have duplicate copies contact info under "All Contacts" grouplng.
2> Now my calender with an additional notation "Noon"- thru out every day & every calender.
3> No audio on any of my videos! Yes, there is audio - before 3.1 I had audio!!!
Anybody-anybody have any advice!!!!

On 4/1, I did a full system upgrade (pacman -Syu) and had almost 200 package updates. It wasn't until today that I realized that I cannot play any videos (though I think the problem is really audio). I've been playing around with moc and mpd for the past week, so that probably helped in delaying my discovery of this problem, and as such, I don't know if the problem existed before my upgrade on 4/1 or as a result of the upgrade.
Any video I play in VLC doesn't have audio. Any video I play in mplayer and any flash video in Firefox has no audio and is played back at an accelerated rate. Any audio I play in moc or Rhythmbox is also played back at an accelerated rate, however I don't hear any audio.
I am using gstreamer and pulseaudio. So I tried rolling back all the gstreamer/pulseaudio packages to the versions before I updated, but that didn't make any difference. Right now mpd works and is setup for pulseaudio.
Any ideas?

Just upgraded to Snow Leopard and now there is no audio on iTunes. Any solutions ?

Problem solved. I did some digging and the sound output in sys preferences got changed when I did the upgrade. Now I have to wait until July to update to Mountain Lion.

No audio after upgrading to FCE 3.5

Help again!
I decided to upgrade to 3.5 to fix the frame drop out problem but now I have another problem. The upgrading seem to go fine but now I have no volume on the project I have been working on for a week. What did I do wrong, how can I fix this?

Welcome to the  discussion forums.
Try going to synching in the sources menu on your tv and selecting 'change itunes library', when it gives you the passcode check itunes to see if the tv is showing up as a new device, if so try entering the pass code. It may be that your tv is seeing itunes as a different library because of a recent upgrade.
