No audio after USB audio accessory is connected

I've discovered what I believe is a rather interesting (and rather serious) bug in the iPhone 2.0 software:
When an USB IAP accessory (such as a lot of newer car stereos) is connected and disconnected a couple of times the audio output from the iPhone will often stop working. Disconnecting the accessory or plugging/unplugging headphones does not fix the problem.
And I mean the audio completely dies: I get no audio from the phone, voicemail, ringtones, iPod, or system sounds from the speaker, headphones, or dock output.
It's like the audio drivers crash. Sometimes the audio will start working again after a long period of time (like if the phone has been sitting idle for hours while I'm at work) but usually I have to reboot to get it working. It seems when I can get audio to work again without a reboot, I get a new crashReporter log about mediaserverd the next time I sync.
The problem occurs when the phone is connected to an iPod accessory that uses the IAP audio-over-USB capability (I tried my Pioneer car stereo and a Kenwood stereo at Best Buy) It does not occur when connected to an accessory that only uses analog audio. I've seen it happen on my iPhone 3G and the original iPhone, so I know it's not a hardware problem.
I know for a fact the Pioneer and Kenwood units I tested are stated as having USB inputs compatible with the iPod Video, iPod Nano, iPod Classic, and iPod touch. (I can confirm the Pioneer does work fine with my old iPod Video.)
Multiple reviews have shown them to also work well with original iPhones running 1.1.4 and below (even if you do get the "not made for iPhone" warning)
However, both phones I tested are running 2.0. Which leads me to think this is a bad 2.0 bug.

I am using iMac OS 10.7.2 with Garageband'11 6.0.4. I can't record sound from  mixer Behringer X1622USB using USB out. when I connect the mixer to iMac via USB  appears USB Audio CODEC on Sound and Preferences but I can't get no sound from mixer to iMac only sound from iMac to mixer. I only can record sound using microphone line in. Please help.

    Eric,
Thanks for your reply. Realtek audio works only in playback. There is a stereo mix in the mixer but the recording controls are not operable with no sliders in the mixer for any recording option. Slider controls appear to be grayed out. Can't figure out how to enable them. Downloaded newest drivers to no avail.
The M Audio control panel has no apparent option for recording stereo mix. Adobe ignores the sound from the DVD or CD and shows flatline.
I'm trying to record the sound from the DVD not rip the track.
When I go to Audio Driver Setup and select Audition 3.0 windows sound, there is no input device installed.
I'm thinking of going back to a decent internal Soundblaster card like I have on my 8 year old machine I am replacing.

  • Blue Snowball USB microphone will not connect to audio hardware

My new Blue Snowball USB mic will not connect to the audio hardware in Premiere Pro. It connects well to my Mac but I cannot select it in Premiere Pro. Anyone know of a workaround or some help?

I was able to solve the problem by adding a Mono track first, then recording to that track.  It's strange I have to do this, I have a Windows laptop at home that I use with CC 2014 and a Blue Yeti and Premiere just "knows" that I'm trying to record and makes the change.

  • Audio Problems with connecting Macbook Pro to Tv

    Hello,
I connected my Macbook Pro to my 42 inch Vizio with a Mini DisplayPort Male to HDMI Male Cable with Audio Transmission.  The picture is set to Mirror image and the picture is fine but I can not get any sound to tranfer from my Macbook to my Vizio.  From my understanding of HDMI I shouldn't need a the standard RCA red/white audio cords to connect the sound from my Macbook to my tv.  I did hear that Macbooks made before April 2010 can not transmit audio without using the red/white audio cords.
I've looked into the sound output on my Macbook and I was assuming my Vizio would display on there to click on to convert audio transmission from my Mac to tv but I don't see anything.  If anyone could help me I would appreciate it greatly.

I fixed this on my HDTVs by simply turning off all automatic and post processing features.
    Color/brightness etc...
Put everything possible on manual and turn off any color corrections and such things.
There really should be a Computer mode on all the HDTVs.

  • Hi all, I'm trying to connect my macbook pro to Sony Bravia tv using Kanex Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable with Audio Support , when connected to the HDMI on tv I get a picture of the mac screen saver ( the starburst ) no video/audio,thanks, Derek

Dave I'm glad to say that it works perfectly but I'm embarrassed to say that my 12 year old nephew hooked it up in about 10 minutes.
If you have the Kanex Mini DisplayPort cable it will work, what confused me was changing the display settings in System Preferences,
and dragging the mac screen from the mac onto the tv. Sorry I cant be more helpful but you have the right cable now you need a 12 year old nephew.
    Good luck Derek

  • MSI 975X motherboard-how connect front audio and mic connection to mobo?

My case has separate connections (not a single molded) plug for Mic and Headset.
Can someone tell me the connections by colored wire perhaps to best connect the various leads to the JAUD1 connection?
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi Peter
You might be lucky and discover that someone has the exact same case as you, so they would then be able to tell you the wire colours (If you tell us the make and model of your case). Far as I know, there is no set rule to the colour coding, but you should see a label on the actual wire connector (yes, they are not exactly big, but they do have a label usually!) The manual tells you what each individual pin of JAUD1 is for. The negative wire of each set is usually slightly thicker than the positive. This is all similar to JFP1 and JFP2, for the power switch etc, so I assume you have already developed paper-thin fingers in order to handle these connections
Here is Intel's descriptions of the pins:-
For Intel High Definition Front Panel Audio
    Pin  Signal Name      Description
1    PORT 1L               Analog Port 1 - left channel (Microphone)
    2    GND                    Ground
3    PORT 1R              Analog Port 1 - right channel (Microphone)
4    PRESENCE#          Active low signal that signals BIOS that an Intel® HD Audio dongle is
connected to the analog header. PRESENCE# = 0 when an Intel
                                   HD Audio dongle is connected
5    PORT 2R               Analog Port 2 - right channel (Headphone)
6    SENSE1_RETURN    Jack detection return for front panel (JACK1)
7    SENSE_SEND         Jack detection sense line from the Intel HD Audio CODEC jack
                                    detection resistor network
    8    KEY                     Connector key
9    PORT 2L                Analog Port 2 - left channel (Headphone)
10   SENSE2_RETURN    Jack detection return for front panel (JACK2)

  • Can I use the optical digital audio cable to connect INSTEAD of the hdmi?  My tv only has 2 hdmi ports, and they're both taken

Can I use the optical digital audio cable to connect INSTEAD of the hdmi?  My tv only has 2 hdmi ports, and they're both taken

I'm afraid that's very misleading and inaccurate.
Firstly an adapter won't work, it would need to be a converter and then if it's a compliant converter it won't let you watch HDCP protected content such as that from netflix or from the iTunes Store.
Secondly, whilst I'm not going to debate whether component or HDMI is better, component is certainly not better if it's been converted from an HDMI signal. You can't make anything better by simply converting it to another type of signal.

  • Keynote presentations when using wireless libratone zipp speaker there is a 2sec delay before any slide containing video/audio plays - tried connection through apple TV still the same. Any ideas?

Keynote presentations when using wireless libratone zipp speaker there is a 2sec delay before any slide containing video/audio plays - tried connection through apple TV still the same. Any ideas?

Thanks Gary, I think I should have mentioned that I have wired my other speakers and it works fine.
I just wanted to go wireless when presenting in front of class, simply to avoid trailing wires from the macbook which I position in front of me on a desk next to the projector and the speakers are behind me next to the screen.
I have struggled to find a solution, and reading through other discussions it is a problem that perhaps only Apple can solve.
I hope the new 'Yosemite' will resolve the problem.
Thank you once again for your reply.

  • 5.1 audio and Toslink connection.

Does the new iMac support 5.1 surround sound playback from DVD's played from the internal slot drive? When I connect my audio system I am getting a digital stereo only signal.

OK, I was able to find the answer elsewhere to my question. In the DVD player preferences there is an option that is available ONLY when a Toslink cable is connected to the iMac. Under Disc Setup there is a box for Audio Output that defaults to System Sound Output. When the digital audio cable is connected there will be a second (hidden) option that can be detected if you click on the arrows next to System Sound Output that lets you choose to pass through the actual Surround Sound information from the DVD. So the required sound preference is not in the OS X System Preference->Sound panel at all. And clicking on the preference on an actual DVD movie (as you would with a standalone DVD player) also does not turn on the surround sound.
Also, for people who like to use VLC there is an audio option there as well to pass through the DD Surround Sound data when you have a Toslink cable connected. Look in the audio menu.

  • E71 use bluetooth while audio jack,s connected

is it possible to use bluetooth headset while audio jack,s connected?
i listen a lot of internet radio on my e71 through car stereo by casette adapter(headphones enhancement).it's very arduous to plug off audio jack from the phone every time you want to answer a call and talk by bluetooth!
even if bluetooth heaset is connected i can't use him till i plug off audio jack.
if i answer a call when jack is connected i can hear the voice throough car speakers and i have to use phone mic.
    is there any solution ?
    please help!

I'm also having this problem. So are over 50 people to date, and I'm sure we're just the only ones who are active. http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s3/576056-can-not-use-bluetooth-when-audio-jack-plugged.html
Can this be fixed? This is extremely dangerous. I use my phone as an mp3 player and connect it through the audio jack in my car, and also want to use my bluetooth headset to make and receive calls. Instead the call comes through my speakers and there is no microphone, leaving me scrambling to unplug my audio cable while driving.
People say that the original firmware didn't have this problem. Samsung says it's Verizon, Verizon says its Samsung, I dont care who is liable as long as someone fixes it!
    Thanks

MY USB modem will not connect to the Internet. The modem appears active on either USB ports and an IP address is assigned. The interface between the modem appears to be the problem. Any ideas?

Update: I called my ISP (Verizon) and they were not much help.
What did have you do if anything?
I also tried to connect with an ethernet cord, and that too is not working.
What were the results from the Network Diagnostic test when connected by ethernet?
I've been searching online for hours and have found no solution that has worked.
What were those solutions that did not work other than what you already mentioned?
