No audio alert on 5S calendar events

When I schedule a calendar event using my 5S the event is not alerting me and I'm not getting any audio alert at the time of the event. Why?

How? I doubleclick an empy space in the top area underneath the leather to make an appointment. This then becomes an All day event but when I edit it I see that the alarm is not set. I have to do this manually. Only hour based events will get the default alert set.

  • Why am I getting double popup alerts for Google Calendar events on iPhone?

This is happening on both mine and my wife's iPhones (mine is a 4 and hers is a 3GS) which are both on the latest iOS (6.0.1).  This is what I've figured out:
On iPhones: Default is to set no alerts/reminder for calendar events
On Google Calendar: Default is to set a popup alert 1 hour before event & email 1 hour before event
When I create a new event on my iPhone: It saves with no alerts set, then after uploading to google calendar it shows as having two alerts 1 hour before the event.  If I go into Google Calendar, it shows that 1 popup and 1 email are each set for 1 hour before the event.
When I create a new event on in Google Calendar: It saves with 1 popup and 1 email are each set for 1 hour before the event per the default settings.  If I go to my iPhone, it shows that I have 2 alerts, both for 1 hour before the event.
So it seems that the iPhone is seeing both the popup and email alerts and creating two popup alerts on my phone!
Is there anyway to fix this?  I've tried setting up the calendar on my iPhone through Gmail account, Exchange account and CalDav account and it's all the same.

I figured it out.  It has to do with which calendars you want displayed.  Duplications come from multiple calender selections.

  • How do I set up an email Alert for a Calendar event?

I can't figure out how to set up an email Alert for a Calendar event at icloud.com or on an iOS device.  Am I missing something?

  • IPhone adds unwanted alerts to iCloud calendar events

When I create an event on a calendar on the desktop (Mavericks) the event is getting an alert set on my iPhone (4S, iOS 7.04). There is no alert on the event when viewed via iCal on the desktop or through iCloud in the browser. This seems to be occuring on all calendars - whether shared or not.

    crbesq,
On your iPhone, go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Calendars...and make sure "New Invitation Alersts" is turned off.
Also check the settings for "Default Alert Times," and "Shared Calendar Alerts."

  • IPhone calendar alerts continue after calendar events are deleted

I had several recurring events in iCal on my iPhone which finally came to an end.  I deleted the events, but the alerts continue.  Every day I am receiving alerts for events which are no long occurring.  How can I delete these alerts.
I am using an iPhone 6 (iOS 8.1.2), but these events were created last year when I was still using an iPhone 4.  I sync my phone to a MacBook Pro (OS 10.7.5) over iCloud.

Just to add to Doug's post...
I'm on the same system - syncing between my iPhone (4) and iCal on my Mac via MobileMe.  Never had any problems when I was phone iPhone 3, and not sure when I started getting this problem with my iPhone 4 (may have been when upgrading to new MobileMe calendar), but I am not getting pop-up alerts which I have set up in iCal on my iPhone.  They do pop up on my Mac desktop, but not on the iPhone.  The thing is, when I go into Calendar on my iPhone, all the events that I created in iCal are there to be seen in Calendar on the iPhone, and when I select one of those events, all the correct information (including the alerts) are there to be seen.
So the information all appears to be correctly in the iPhone ... and hence I would not have thought it could be a syncing issue.
But come the time for that alert to pop-up on my phone and it just doesn't do it.
I have checked other issues mentioned, like the time zone.
... I've just applied the fix suggested by diana1953 (but in my case applying MobileMe where she has referred to Google Calendar / Gmail) and it seems to have worked on the test event I set.  Thanks.

  • No alerts/editing of Calendar events from e-Mail

My office uses lotus/imap which sends me invitations in the form of .ics files in mail on my Mac laptop.
I just noticed the other day that all meeting invites that come in through mail this way are un-editible both in ical and on the iphone. You can't set an alarm, add notes to the meeting...nothing.
This is really inconvenient, particularly not being able to set an alarm for 10 minutes before the meeting.
Have I got something setup wrong? Is there a way around this? Works fine on events I enter manually on the iphone or ical, just not these automatic ones.

I can understand not letting anyone but a meeting's organizer change details like time/date/location.....but the alarms and notes???
If my boss sends me an invite to a meeting I don't want to forget, where's the sense in me not being able to turn on a 10 minute warning alarm on my laptop/phone???
Not being able to add private notes to a meeting is also pretty bad....sometimes need to add notes to yourself on stuff you need to bring, how to get to a meeting room...etc.

  • Missing 2nd Alert on Calendar Events

Since the update to iOS 7.0.4, I have lost the ability to have a second alert on my calendar events. Is there anyway to get this back?

What are you syncing your calendar with? Not all services support the second alert.

  • On iOS 7, my wife receives alerts from my calendar even though she chose not to see my calendars on her iPhone (We have the same iCloud account). How can I turn off my alerts on her iPhone 5 but nor her alerts ?

My wife decided to use her calendar on her iPhone 5 via our iCloud account so that it will be synchronized with her iPad 3.
I have been using it for many years for leisure activities and for my work.
Althought she chose, in her calendar settings, to only see her calendar and not my calendars (I have many for leisure activities, for one of my job, for my other job etc...), she still gets alerts from my calendar events even thought she do not see the events on her iPhone nor on her iPad.
Has anyone a solution for this ?
I read many things on internet about this but found no solutions yet.

Well, let take the personal service point of view : let say, I had two calendars on my iCloud account : one for work, one for my leisure activities.
On my MacBook Pro that I use at home as well as at my office, I would want the two calendars to show and since I am alone in my office, I would want the alerts for both my work and my leisure activities to show (and make a sound at the same time).
But on my iPad that I only use at home, I would only want my leisure activities alerts to show (and make a sound) and on my iPhone that I only use for work, I would only want my work alerts to show (and make a sound).
That is a personal service that simply does not work.
Why would Apple give us the opportunity to hide some calendars on certain devices but not allow us, on these same devices, to switch off the alerts linked to these calendars that we have chosen to hide ? Why having alerts of calendars that do not even show on these devices ?
And I am an Apple fan since 1984, since the very first Mac. I still do believe Macs and Apple devices and/or software (iOS, OS X and others...) are much better and much more efficient than " Microsoft, Windows, Google and other Android devices and software.
But that does not mean everything's perfect (and I find that quite normal).
Nevertheless, in this case, letting alerts make a sound on a device where a specific calendar is not shown, that does not make any sense : when uncheking those calendars, the alerts linked to those calendars should be automatically switch off (but alerts should be able to work on the calendars that are shown.)

  • How do I get a "second alert" option in calendar  - using gmail w/ exchange

    Hi -
I am using gmail calendar and syncing it via "push" of microsoft exchange.
I am able to set a single "alert" for a calendar, but not a second alert (as the native iphone calendar will allow, as does gmail calendar").
How do I set a second alert for a calendar event (inside the iphone)?
Bonus question: there seems to be some nuances to how alerts are transferred between gmail calendar and the iphone - for instance where the event was originally entered, etc. Anyone have documentation on how that works???
    Thanks!!!

I am not aware of a setting in the phone for a second calendar alert, except if you try and snooze the original alert. However, I'm sure you are asking for it to alert until you acknowledge it, correct?

  • Have problem setting Email alerts for Calendar events. Warning message says I need to set up a card in Contacts with my email. I do but it doesn't recognize it. How do I indicate the email I want alerts sent to?

The system of setting up email alerts for Calendar events worked fine in Snow Leopard but since I upgraded to Mt. Lion Calendar won't let me set email alerts. When I try, I get an error message saying I need to set up a card in Contacts for my email. I have a card set up in Contacts for both of my email addresses but it doesn't recognize them. Perhaps the name I have on the card doesn't match a name that Calendar is looking for. Calendar doesn't seem to have a way in Preferences or elsewhere to indicate the email I want alerts sent to. Any ideas how I can get this system working again? Thanks for your help.

You might want to consider starting a new discussion. Since this one is marked solved, less people are likely to look at it. You can link to this one.
See if another contact is marked as this is my card.

  • On iPhone 5 (iOS 7), calendar alerts are 'deleted' after event occurs

This seems to be new(ish) behavior and is increasing in frequency.
I have an iPhone 5 and am on iOS7. Outlook is my default calendar. (I have already checked all my settings related to alerts; that isn't the issue.)
    What's happening is this:
I set a meeting or "event" -- with an alert -- in my calendar (Outlook) on the iPhone; there are no other attendees.
I get alerted at the appropriate time.
When I go back later to move it to later in the day or another day (let's say it's an errand I still need to run), the alert I set initially is no longer there, so I have to re-enter that. Almost every time.
(This doesn't seem to happen to iCloud events, of course. Thank you Apple.) Anyhooo.... this just doesn't seem like expected behavior and not something I used to experience. And it's not what I *want* to have happen. I want the original alert to still stay "embedded" in the original event.
    Help?
    thanks!

  • Can I set individual alerts (tones) for each calendar events/ reminders

Can I set individual alerts (tones) for each calendar events/ reminders

Thanks On my phone, these are the options under Menu>Settings & Tools>Sound Settings>Alert Sounds: 1. TXT Message 2. Multimedia Message 3. Voicemail 4. Emergency Tone  5. Missed Call . And under Service Alerts: 1. ERI 2. Minute Beep 3. Call Connect 4. Charge Complete 5. Software Update. So nothing there for the calendar. And options from the calendar that I can see are Add (here you can change the tone for one event or recurring event, but not set a default tone for the event alarm), View (gives you the options of viewing an existing event in more detail, adding a new one, and the same choices from the Options list on the first screen where you are viewing the entire month), and Options (1. lets you view weekly/monthly,  2. Go To Today  3. Go To Date   4. Search   5. Erase All   6. Erase All Old   7. Send.  So as far as I can see, there's no way to do it. I have been through all the Settings and Tools menus... and the Events menu. But...I have just discovered that if I delete ALL my alarms and change the Ringtone for the first alarm I set, that ringtone becomes the default ringtone. I will try deleting ALL my events and starting fresh with a new tone and see if that works!

  • Deleted calendar event alert

    Hi all,
I deleted a calendar event from my iPhone 4S after the event but it keeps popping up on my phone as an alert every single day. I might have set it to recurring which I dont remember but even if I did I deleted the event itself. I sync my phone with my laptop everyday but I dont understand how I get an alert on my phone when I already deleted it.
The worse part is I cant find this event anywhere on my phone but it pops up before lunch time every single day and its so annoying now. Can someone please help me out here on what I should do to get rid of this recurring event that I already deleted. Please help me! I appreciate all your support.
    Thanks! Go Apple!
    Kash

If you are syncing your calendar to a supported application such as Outlook you should try replacing your iPhone calendar with your Outlook calendar using iTunes.  To do this, connect your phone to your computer, go to the Info tab of your iTunes sync settings and under Advanced>Replace information on this iPhone, check Calendars then Apply to sync your phone.

  • Additional Calendar Event Alert Options

For about 1/3 of the Calendar Events that I set, I am used to setting an alert for an event up to one week prior. Then, when the alert happens, I edit the Event and change the reminder to occur from 1 to 6 days before. Usually the day before I change the alert to happen a couple of hours before the actual time. I know this sounds a bit excessive, but I like to have a fine resolution when being reminded of an event, especially when it comes to things like Doctor appointments, Auto Repair appointments, etc. This allows me to plan my work week ahead of time.
With the latest Calendar app in IOS 5.0.1 the most I can set it for is 2 days. I spoke with support on the phone and they were very helpful to find a work around. Let's say I want to be alerted one week before the Calendar Event occurs. The work around is to create two Calendar Events with the first on the actual date of the Calendar Event and the second occuring one week before. The second Calendar Event should reference the date and time of the first alert (the real one).
I previously had a Blackberry Storm 2 (which in theory was a great phone but in practice has many, many quicks and bugs) and it allowed me to set the Alerts the way I am used to.
Does any one know of an app that will modify calendar settings without adding any (or adding minimal) UI changes to the existing Calendar App?
Also, I would like to suggest that Apple consider giving the users more options when it comes to setting these alerts. Is there a better forum or page on the Apple Web Site where suggestions are allowed? Please forgive me I am new to the Apple world and don't know these forums or the web site very well.
    Thanks,
    Paul

Thank you for your reply. I did see that you can set up to two reminders, and that is a fantastic UI feature. However my original question was how do you set an alert for greater than two days before the actual Calendar Event occurs? Please see my original message for clarification.
Also, I will use the link provided for feedback, thank you!

  • HT4528 How do I recover my calendar events?  How about downloading audio books?

Since the latest iOS 7 upgrade, I HATE my iPhone!  I was able to recover my contacts.  I was not able to recover my calendar events.
How do I recover my calendar events?
I have an appointment tomorrow & can't remember necessary info!
    How about downloading audio books?
I am not able to download an audio book, which I have done for a very long time w/o issues. Have any suggestions?

When I synced, & recovered the contacts, the calendar recovered events (as current) that I had deleted last winter.
I check out audiobooks from the local library & download them using OneClickDigital Media Manager.  It goes thorugh iTunes to get the book onto my phone.  It shows up pale in iTunes (All other items are in bold print.) & the book does not show up on my phone at all.
