"No Audio Device Detected" Proble

Hello, hate to sound like a broken record but I've yet to find a solution to this problem that doesn't involve a re-format. So, here we go..
I have a Creative SB EMU0K soundcard installed on my computer (Intel P4, 3.0Ghz, 52mb RAM, XP-SP2 Home, yada yada yada) along with a RealTek onboard soundcard, and neither of them are detected by my computer. It's not a driver issue, all drivers have been up-dated and rolled back and re-downloaded and installed with the CD and so on. It's not the BIOS either (I know about turning the onboard off and so on). It's not the regedit, I've been through that process turning (something.. can't remember name at the moment) from manual to automatic, but it was already at automatic, so that's not the problem.
In summary, my soundcard (we'll focus on the Creative SB), or 'audio device', is installed properly and was working. I was hit with a virus of some kind that knocked my computer around a bit, and now I'm in a position where the devices are all installed correctly, and show up on the Device Manager, and even on my Sound and Audio Devices window, the 'Sound recording' and 'MIDI music playback' devices show up and work fine, but the 'Sound playback' and any button with 'Volume' on it are gray and un-clickable, and there is the stubborn message that says 'No Audio Device'. So how does one fix a problem when everything is installed and shown to be working fine, yet somehow the darn thing isn't detected?Message Edited by rk on 0-7-2006 04:25 PM

Hi there.
I'm having exactly the same problem.
i'm running XP pro/sp2...soundblaster li've..
Here's what happens...
First sign of trouble was "modem # line playback" or something or other, everything else in the control panel was greyed out.. so after reinstalling a few hundred times...nothing..
cleared the registry, uninstall, reinstall yadda yadda.. nothing....
so i uninstalled the "unimodem5"... (disabling it does nothing...) and that "option" went away..
then reinstall Sb... the software on the site.. the newsest software...and the patch...
i then reinstall the "windows media controllers" and that seems to let the sb diag find the wave, the mixer etc...
so now its up and working! i get my volume control, mixer etc...everything...
UNTIL I REBOOT OR SHUTDOWN
Xp sees my card, but the SB diagnostic gives me "fails" all across the board..
i used direct x diag and it sees my card but not in the "sound" tab....
so what is the conflict that it wont stay in the system after a reboot?
there doesnt seem to be any conflicts, it just seems the software wont stick..
Now this is not just my problem either.. this is all over the boards with stupid answers from stupid peole saying "reinstall and voila"...
well that doesn't work...
so what am i missing?
windows wont let me roll back or remove the complete set of codex and controllers so what to do?
i dont think i should have to reinstall my whole os because of a bug....
there must be an answer....
Lemme know..
in the meantime if i find a solution i wil post it here...
(i've done all the uninstalls even to the point of deleting registry entries so dont bother with that and i have been all over this board for the last two hours... there are no fixes here yet that work so....)
thanks everyone, happy hunting

  • No audio devices detected after upgrading to office 2013

    Hey everybody,
I have an employee that has done an upgrade from office 2010 to 2013 and now his Lync will not detect any audio devices. The devices are detected by windows and other programs like Skype and Webex but not Lync.
    Things we have tried:
    1. Restarting lync and the PC itself
    2. Unplugging and replugging the devices.
    3. reinstalling all USB drivers
    4. Made sure that the Windows audio and windows audio endpoint services were running
    5. Updating software
    6. turning off the power saving mode on the USB hubs
    7. Reinstalling Office
This has been a real annoyance. we are thinking of switching back to 2010 if we cant fix it soon. any thoughts? Any advice would be helpful.
    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hi,
Please try to remove the WiDi software/USB, restart Lync 2013 and then test the issue again.
Please also try to uninstall NVIDIA drivers and then reinstall them.
Here is a similar case below, and there are a lot of settings will cause this issue, you can check with it:

  • MY "No Audio device detected" Solut

Before I begin, I would like to say if this doesn't help you out I am sorry. My goal is for this method to at least help out one person, if so I would feel content in passing on what had worked for me to this community. I would like to also mention my card worked fine on my Win XP setup but after i switched back to XP i started getting errors such as "...audio device supported not detected..." whenever i would try to use the mediasource applications or even do the driver update for my Audigy 2 ZS card. Here is the method that finally worked for me, because there is no way i was going to go through the minatinous job of having to test different pci slots to get this card to work.
. I did a cleansweep of my audio drivers, directions for different operating systems can be found at this url ( http://ask.americas.creative.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=ww_english,Company={CEAE26D-879-4C00-AC9F-03BC258F7B70},VARSET=ws:http://us.creative.com,case=72 ) once you reboot your system after the end of the cleansweep it will locate your card automatically ignore the found new hardware prompts pertaining to your soundcard by pressing cancel on it (or them if you have more than one prompt) and go on to step 2.
    2. After that i did a normal cd installation for my audigy 2 zs card installing both regular drivers and the mediasource applications (just to make sure). After the installation finalized I was asked to reboot again which should be done at this point.
    3. Once windows loaded back up It located my soundcard and I was presented with the "Found New Hardware" prompts again. At this time for each prompt that came up I picked that I wanted to choose where to find the correct files which i believe is the Recommended choice by Windows which was one of two choices in this area. From there it takes you to another screen where there are checkboxes to choose where you want windows to search for the correct file(s). I chose for both of my found new hardware prompts (if you have more than one, they will show after you finish off the the first one...meaning you will do this procedure more than one time because they will only come up one at a time) for it to search my CD Dri've which still had my creative disc in it so it could search the CD for the correct files (and it should find them).
    Then
I proceeded to do a manual install of the drivers as well (yes im installing over an installation, it sounds stupid i know..but it worked for me) by exploring the CD and running the program located in the Audio/Drivers folder called CTZAPXX.exe (CDDRIVE:\Audio\Drivers\CTZAPXX.exe). Make sure the Update Option selected is Driver Installation and the Driver Type is WDM Drivers and also i checked "Overwrite existing shared Creative audio driver files". Then just click OK and click through any warnings that may come up telling the program you want to proceed still. Once that is done it will ask you to reboot again, at this time you may do so.
    4. After Windows loads up this time i have my driver update ready which is located here ( http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/ ) according to card type and operating system (since peoples configurations differ this is something that will have to be searched for independently). Normally when i would just click this file to update my drivers it would unpack and then give me the infamous "...audio device supported not detected..." error but after those steps i took, it actually worked for me and went into the installation. Then i believe it asks for another reboot i might be mistaken but after that good sign of it actually installing all my applications work without a problem now; and everything seems perfectly fine for the time being
Sorry for being long winded, but again if you are a person stuck in this rut or just now have encountered this problem and have tried almost everything, this could be worth a try. I am running win 2000 so there might be some discepancy but you never know until you try. If this doesnt help you all good luck in continuing to find answers hopefully something will come along.

<div class="lia">ReCogNeYez,<div class="lia">Might be a little late, but this worked perfectly for me. You can now?rest safe in the knowledge that your advice has helped someone out. Now I can finally get back to watching Red Dwarf : )<div class="lia">Cheers mate!<div class="lia">George

  • No Audio Device Detected (but it shows up correctly in device-manag

Well, I bought a new soundcard, since I was tired of my old integrated one, and wanted good surround-sound. The model is Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatalty, and my old integrated one is a Realtek-HD (doesn't say more than that).
Now to my problem, I removed the drivers from Realtek (even cleaned lots of it from the registry) and put in the new soundcard in a PCI-slot, as it's supposed to be done. I then started the computer, canceled the automatic installation and installed the drivers from the CD I got with the card (this is what it said I should do), now the card shows up in the device-manager as "Creative SB X-Fi" and it tells me it's working fine etc. The Creative-update software also detects it so that I can download the latest drivers.
However, I have no sound, and in the control-panel's "sound & sound devices" it says "No sound device" and I can't do anything. :/ (not sure if this is what it's called in english, I'm using the swedish version of Windows XP Professional), I can select the soundcard in creatives Volume Panel (where it says "select audio device") without any error-messages, but when I double click the application (to change the volume etc.) it says it can't find any supported soundcards.
I tried removing the drivers etc. for the SB-card and installed the Realtek ones again, but it's the same thing there, it shows up in the device manager (under sound - video & gaming-units) but windows still says it can't find an audio-device. My guess is that there's some kind of conflict between the Realtek-integrated card and the new one.
Anyone got any ideas of what to do? :/
Edit: Also, the computer keeps wanting to install the integrated soundcard, but I can't seem to find any way to turn it off in the BIOS :/ (I have an ABIT motherboard, don't know what type, can't seem to find the box for it). The BIOS is called "Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG"
I have ofcourse tried to fully remove and reinstall the SB-drivers aswell, but no luck there. :/

next time go into control panel click on sounds, click on record, right click any where in the record box and then put check marks in the boxes that say show disabled devices, and show disconnected devices. Those devices disappear when the boxes are not checked making your pc think there is no output sound.

  • No Audio Output Device is installed Windows 8 - no audio device detected in Device Manager

OS: Previously using Windows 8.1, now rolled back to Windows 8.
    HP Pavilion p7-1423w
    Product Number: H3Z92AA#ABA
This just seemed to happen on its own follwing a standard Microsoft Windows update. Suddenly, there is a red X on the speaker displayed down in the taskbar area, with the message: No Audio Output Device is installed. This originally happened using Windows 8.1. I tried numerous suggestions and nothing seemed to relate to my problem. Checking the Device Manager is Windows is useless, because no audio device is even detected. Drivers cannot be updated when no device is recognized as existing. I checked in the computer setup prior to booting to Windows and I cannot find anywhere to turn audio on. I thought that possibly audio had been disabled, at the source. Either that or the onboard audio on the motherboard has completely failed.
Hoping that a reset to factory settings would help, I backed up all of my data and proceeded with the reset. Now back to Windows 8, the same issue exists with the original factory settings. No audio output device detected.
Can onboard audio be enabled somewhere in the setup? OR is my motherboard's onboard audio fried?

Only option that I see in the BIOS is under Security.  Audio Device: Hidden or Available. It was set to available and I left it at that. Still no audio.
Really? Nothing? This computer is one year old. Absolutely no reason for this to be happening. What a joke.

  • XtremeMusic and MediaSource 5 - NO supported audio device detected? HE

I have had my X-Fi xtrememusic card for over a year now. no problems with it so far. runs great. BUT i installed a new motherboard and new cpu, etc.
Now when I open mediasource player... and click on the SVM buttom or the AudioClean up button, the timescale, or cross fade buttons (essentially all of the buttons on the bottom) it gives me the Error: "This feature is not available because no supported Audio Device is detected."
Mind you, the sound works.. i can play back music, it works great. AND via the console I CAN enable the SVM and it DOES work... but it seems like the media source player doesn't "see" that i have the xtrememusic card?
I am running the latest and SAME drivers and applications (mediasource 5) as before. WinXP Pro service pack 3. THere are NO conflicts with any devices in device manager....
Can someone help? I tried reinstalled the application, and driver... still same issue. I really like the audio cleanup when i listen to my recorded lectures and it takes away the hiss...
    Help?

  • No audio device detected - Lync 2013 Client

I have a brand new Dell Latitude E6430 laptop running Windows 7 x64 SP1.  I installed Office 2013, including the Lync 2013 client.  We are running Lync 2013 server as well.  I have connected three different audio devices.
    Polycom CX600 phone.
    Plantronics Bluetooth headset.
Logitech Video Camera  (The video on this works with Lync but no audio)
I cannot get Lync to recognize either of them.  I can see them as devices in Windows but within Lync I only get a screen that says "We didn't find an audio device, which you need for calling".  Does anyone have any idea on how to resolve this issue?
It is driving me crazy.  Especially since it worked perfectly on my old laptop that had the same OS and patches, etc...
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Jamie

Had the same issue.  For me it required uninstalling the Intel Widi device from device manager.  I think it was titled "wiusb" or something similar.  It was in its own group in device manager.  After uninstalling that, Lync would then
    recognize my mic/speakers again.
I had the exact same problem as everyone else.  I purchased two Dell Latitude E6530 laptops with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.  Both laptops had the issue.  I uninstalled the WIUSB devices, restarted Lync, and Lync suddenly is able to detect devices...
I refreshed device manager to see if the devices would auto-install again... but there weren't detected again.
    William Christenson
This worked for me as well. Uninstalled the WIUSB and WIUSB Host Controller which was present under its own group, Exit Lync process and started again, it detected the Sound Devices again. Definitely a driver conflict but it was quick resolution to uninstall
and get it working. No other issues with user as far as another device stopped working due to uninstallation of the devices.
It does not look like any driver conflicts, all other software detects audio device perfectly (Skype, Recorder, softphone, Lync 2010 etc.), but only Lync 2013 client keeps saying ""we didn't find an audio device". it appears the faulty in Lync 2013 client

  • AuzenWDM Pack 1.0 and "No supported audio device detected"

    Hi there,
I installed the AuzenWDM pack and have the driver working properly, however when it comes to using the rest of the software in the pack none of it works, I get the same similar error of "No supported audio device" or similar. Now I know this driver pack works because thats what I used before reinstalling windows recently.
    My specs are:
    Win 7 64bit
    AMD 4400+
    4Gb DDR
    A8N SLI Deluxe (nforce 4)
EDIT: It might help to tell you that i have an XFi Fatality (launch model with the front bay)
Any help with is would be appreciated?
    Thanks

I noticed there was an?AuzenWDM .5 pack so I have tried that, but still the same problem none of the software will detect the audio device yet the driver installs fine.

  • Why are no audio devices detected? (may involve Cirrus Logic CS4206A (AB 11) )

this is the last problem i have with boot camp.  I finally managed to run the boot camp driver install thing, which fixed all the driver problems except that i still have no sound, i have tried the built in speakers, headphones, and some external speakers, but none of them are detected.  Also, the sound works fine in Mac OSX mode, just not in windows.
I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, so i would probably need the drivers for that OS

I solved this on my laptop just now, but not quite sure how.
I uninstalled the driver, and clicked the checkbox when uninstalling the driver to delete the files.
Then, after rebooting, it worked. I suspect it worked because I had earlier installed other drivers, which it then defaulted to. I installed the realtek audio drivers off the Mac OS X cd, but I suspect that wasn't it.
I installed cirrus logic drivers from here:
    http://www.cirrus.com/en/support/lic/lic3.html?uri=/en/pubs/software/CS4207WinVista_Win7_32-64-bit6-6001-1-21.zip
Or maybe it was the vista drivers I got from:
    http://www.stuffedcow.net/macbook_audio
Or maybe these two sources drivers' are the same - and I did just get it from the cirrus site
If you get it working, I recommend you reply here and state exactly what it was that got it working for you. Just make sure to uninstall the driver and in doing so delete the files too (there's a checkbox in vista). This way it will default to what appears to be older drivers if/when you install those.

  • HpG60-348CA laptop, no audio device detected.

(First time posting, so if I missed any critical information, please let me know! Bear with me)
My laptop is a hpG60-348CA, running windows vista.
The other day I was fooling around, and uninstalling some things I didn't need to help make laptop work faster. I had my girlfriend with me, who was telling what I should and shouldn't delete, since she's very, very computer friendly. Now, I didn't delete anything to do with the sound, and for the past couple days, everything was working as it should be, and my sound was working perfect.
Tonight, I tried to use my headphones, and the sound just wouldn't transfer to the headphones, they would keep coming out of my built-in speakers.Yes, I had them in the right port, and no, they weren't just broken. I tried two different sets of headphones, both of which worked perfectly fine in my ipod, so that wasn't an issue. Anyway, I was getting fed up, so I went to the hp site, tried to download the audio driver, thinking mine was maybe just outdated. I just checked, and I downloaded the only one for my laptop (Conexant High-Definition SmartAudio 221 Driver).
The first time I tried to download the driver, it asked to uninstall my previous sound driver, which I figured was necessary as it would clear the whole driver, and install the brand new one. Well, what it actually did, was say my installation failed, popped up a window which showed my speakers weren't plugged in. Much to my confusion, I looked down to my volume tab, and now there's a red circle with a white x in the middle. Needless to say, I have no more audio whatsoever! I tried to download the driver again, thinking it just didn't install correctly, and it did the exact same thing. I tried again, and again, no luck.
    Pleeease help me!

    Satellite A135-S4527
Won't hurt to reinstall the driver.

    Hi,
In addition, if it can be detected in Windows system, you could try setting it to the default device.
    Restart Lync and test.
And some related cases for your reference.

  • No audio capture device detected Osprey 240e

I have recently installed Adobe Flash Media Encoder (AFME).  I have installed the Osprey 240e video/audio capture card.  At first, the Osprey 240e was detected by the AFME.  Now AFME is telling me there is no audio device detected.  The video part seems to be fine.
    I have:
    1. Rebooted the computer AFME is installed on
    2. Reinstalled AFME
    3. Reinstalled the Osprey 240e drivers (reboot computer again).
When I start the AFME program, it still indicates not audio capture device detected.  Any ideas on how to resover the issue.

You may need to open a support case with Viewcast. They have always been very responsive when I have had problems/questions.

  • Lync 2013 - We didn't find an audio device

    Hi,
I have done all troubleshooting but while opening Lync 2013, it's showing no audio device is available.
Both speakers and mic are working fine in laptop.

    Hi Rahul Mallaiya,
This is a very common problem, and there're so many reasons can cause this problem.
    There are several common situations:
    1. Compatible problem
Try to use the qualified device for Lync.
    2. Drivers related problem
Try to update the drivers of your device(include BIOS)
    3. Software related problem
Maybe some similar software as Lync installed on your device, you could try to uninstall the software.
    4. other
     related problems
USB hub related problem, you could refer to the following thread.

  • Audio Crash - No Audio Output Device Detected

Since I installed the BOOM volume booster program, I experience crashes with the audio of my MacBook Pro. No Audio device is Detected, and there is no sound. i can only fix it by reinitializing the PRAM which fixes it temporarily. But it comes back more and more. I removed Boom. Yet, it still appears in my Audio preferences. My computer is seriously slowed down.

  • JMF-based applet can not detect audio devices on Vista (?)

    Hi,
As many people reported, I encountered the same issue - CaptureDeviceManager.getDeviceList does not detect any audio device on IE/Vista.
    Here is my testing environment:
HP XW4600, RealTek HD Audio onboard sound card,
Vista SP1 (Business, Home Premium, and Vista64)
    JRE1.5.0_16, JMF2.1.1e
A recording Applet runs in IE7 (which works fine on XP and its Java application version always works fine on Vista)
I have tried a number of things without success:
1)Use different audio formats as the input parameter for getDeviceList
    2)Try CaptureDeviceManager.getDevice(new String("DirectSoundCapture"))
    3)CaptureDeviceInfo info = new CaptureDeviceInfo(com.sun.media.protocol.dsound.DataSource.NAME,new MediaLocator("dsound://"),null);
    4) Vector devices = (Vector) CaptureDeviceManager.getDeviceList(null).clone();
    5)Uncheck UAC(Vista User Access Control)
    6)Set IE settings least restrictive
7)Try signed or unsigned recording Applet
8)Pack the recording Applet to a jar and deploy to JRE\lib\ext
9)Run JMFInit and copy the files in JMF\Lib to System32 folder
On a few occasions, audio devices can be detected. For examples,
10)Upgrading an HP XW4200 (XP machine with AC97 codecs driver) to Vista,
11)1/5 chance on the machines with both Sun JRE and MS Java SDK installed.
12)Trying Item # 9. it worked once on one machine, but after rebuilding the machine, the same trick does not play.
I am wondering if there is a way to let JMF-based applets detect audio devices on Vista or this is an inherent problem with JMF, IE and Vista.
I would appreciate it very much if youd kindly offer any help and suggestions.

I would appreciate it very much if you'd kindly offer any help and suggestions. >I suspect the basic problem here, is the installer that defaults to preventing the applet access to record sound (I am guessing that would 'spill over' into web-cam permissions). A quick test of that is to try the same code as an application.
If the application works, one possible fix is to launch the application using webstart. Webstart will work from a web page, and offers many other advantages over a standard applet.
