No audio device...in control panel
I go into the control panel and then sounds, game controllers, etc.... in WinXP. It shows no audio device.
All the audio options in the bios are set to auto or enable. Its not detecting the integrated audio and I don't know how to fix it.
Please help..

*FIXED* No sound and 'No Audio Device' in Control Panel. *FIX
I?m having a problem with my sound. Basically all I get is a system sound, which means no sounds from itunes but the error prompt sounds still play. I?m tempted to say that this is a detection issue because of several things:
-First, when looking in the ?sounds and audio devices? in the control panel I get grayed out selections and a ?no audio device?.
-Secondly, when running the directX diagnostic tool (typing ?dxdiag? in the ?run? window) I get several troubling indications. First under device I have no manufacturer or product ID. Second under drivers I have (copied from dxdiag text file):
Driver Name: ctaud2k.sys
Driver Version: 5.2.000.96 (English)
Driver Attributes: Final Retail
WHQL Logo'd: Yes
Date and Size: 8//2006 4:45:38, 499584 bytes
Other Files:
Seems hunky-doorey but then I have a note at the bottom that reads:
Sound Test Result: Failure at step 3 (DirectSoundCreate): HRESULT = 0x88780078 (No driver)
I have seen another similar post that seemed to have the same problem, but they didn?t provide much information and the fix was to pull out the audio card, run start up, turn it off, and then put it back in and run start up. If this is what needs to be done, could I have a picture or something of what the sound card looks like?
This problem started when I tried to update my sound card and since then my sound has been? possessed? or prone to working at sometimes and then (most of the time)failing at others.
Here is the dxdiag.txt file without the lengthy directShow filters and directx components:

Message Edited by guru7892 on 05-24-200705:55 PMI found that once you reinstall your sound card you need to make sure you hook everything back up correctly.
basically all you need to do is run a start up with your sound card out ofyou computer and then re-run start up with the card back in. -

Are any of these yours ??
You may also try to restore your machine to a point before the trojan attack with Microsoft System restore.
Go to start > all programs > accessories > system tool > system restore.
If the trojan corrupted your system to the point where you can't fix it, then you may have to reload your OS using your HP recovery manager. Save all your personal info. before you do this, as it will be deleted. -
Jmf audio and video control panel not show up in netbeans
I am running AVReceive2 in netbeans. The control panel does not show up when I run this in Netbeans. When I run the same code in DOS I get the control panel. The core component to the panel has not been changed. Am I missing something. I just reinstalled everything and still have the same problem. I need to get this resolved ASAP. Thank you for all the help.

Can you send me an image of what you are talking about? I think I have it set but I am not 100% sure. No, I can't send you an image. You should consult with a Netbeans forum if you need help with Netbeans beyond what I've told you.
Also, I can't think of anything that would cause that problem other than library issues, because it sounds like you have JMF installed correctly if it works in a terminal, but Netbeans overrides your system settings to use its own. -
Firewire Audio Device Volume Control not Working
I have a Presonus Firebox which has served me well from 10.3.9 to 10.4.10.
I installed 10.4.11 last week, but after the reboot the Firebox would not sync with my G5. I switched Firewire ports and it synced back up. But now I cannot control the master volume on the Firebox using the MAC keyboard controls or the control in Audio Midi.
Next, frustrated, I upgraded to Leopard and have the same symptoms. Sound works and records and syncs, but I cannot control the volume via the OS or software (which worked fine from 10.3 to 10.4.10) I have a Lacie D2 connected via FW800 and a Lacie DVD burner connected via its own separate Fw400 port from the Firebox.
Any ideas?Try performing a system repair using PC Companion as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data so best to backup before you begin
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP -
Captivate 4 - Not detecting Audio Device in Windows 7
Hi Experts,
I have Windows 7 64 bit. I installed Captivate 4 tiral version. When I try to set the Audio Settings, I saw that Audio Device is not detected. I have enabled all the audio devices through Control Panel -> Sound. Speakers and In-built microphone are working fine on laptop.
Still Captivate is not detecting the audio device. I tried reinstallinig the application and installing the patch but no success.
Could you please help ? Thanks & Appreciation in advance.
Regards

As you are in the mode of installing a trial version, try uninstalling Captivate 4 and go get Captivate 5 instead. Captivate 4 wasn't built with Windows 7 in mind and many things are "iffy" at best. Captivate 5 is different and should work without issue on Windows 7.

The audio device supported by this device was not detect
Ok, i'm having massi've problems with this card, i think it just hates me. I'm running Windows XP SP3 Home, SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum and it's not going too well. I have had it installed for a year now, Had to put up with EAX Console giving me a mediasource Error. Sound Mixer worked at this point. Then i decide to reinstall it, deleting all traces of it (installshield files too), i disabled my onboard sound (i had no idea it was enabled) called AC97 Audio or something in the bios. I restart and re-install. All seemed fine, until i double click the Creative Volume control and find the Error you see in the title now. I have a look on Sound and Audio Devices on Control Panel and it says 'No device found' on the first panel. On Recording and Audio the first 2 boxes are grayed out, but the Midi one has SB Audigy [0B00] or something similar. It's been plaguing me ever since i got it. Every application except diagnostics tool gives me the Error in the title. Also, instead of the classic Ping that windows gives through my speakers, i get a beep from inside my computer. It won't let me press the play button on the Sounds section of sounds and audio devices. I would deeply appreciate any help. Thanks
Any other info you need to know, just post here.
Heigou
UPDATE: I ran dxdiag and the sound section tells me that a sound card wasn't detected.
UPDATE: I changed PCI Slot, still same problem.

760GM-E51 No Sound & shows no audio devices installed-HELP
Friend put it together for me. MSI 760GM-E51 mobo, AMD/PH II X2 555 3.2G AM3 RT, PSU Antec BP550 Plus RT, Mem 4GB GSkill F3-10666CL9S-4GBRL-R. Everything seems to be fine except for no sound. Sound & audio devices in control panel show no device installed. Mobo is supposed to have Realtek HD, Installed software from MSI disk but still no recognition of device. Any help greatly appreciated.
Stand-offs are made of brass/copper/steel/plastic.
They are not rubber.
If there are some that have no matching hole in the motherboard, they short things.
You MUST use them, but only where the board has a hole to match it. -
Qosmio X770: 4 nVidia HD audio devices in device manager
So i have a few questions...
In my device manager i have [this (screenshot)|http://i.imgur.com/NfH5E7p.jpg].
So i have (!) 4 nvidia hd audio and 1 hd realtek audio.
I usually update my nvidia video driver and nvidia hd audio driver is updated every time with it.
But not long ago i decided to find any other updates to my drivers, cause bloody toshiba (we call it that way in Russia) is too lazy to support their laptops. And [found this:(realtek hd R2.70 codec driver )|http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level= 4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false].
Installed it, everything is working fine so far. It is for realtek alc269 (and also many other devices, but for us only alc269 matters) which is the real name of realtek hd audio device in x770 laptops (i checked in program aida64, previously known as everest).
So now i have [this (screenshot)|http://i.imgur.com/6HM5mLj.jpg]: version 6.0.1.6662 date 19.06.2012
The previous version that lazy toshiba was glad to provide us with - 6.0.1.6360 [(screenshot)|http://i.imgur.com/dUQiPA0.jpg]
So the questions are:
1. Why i have FOUR nvidia hd audio devices in device manager?
2. How can i make nvidia hd audio my primary audio device? Or maybe they are some kind of virtual devices or smth like that.
3. Do you think the idea of installing driver directly from realtek website was bad? There is a disclaimer on their site: To be sure you obtain the full features/customizations provided in your original audio product, please download the latest drivers from your system/motherboard manufacturer's website.
So i invite everyone to test this audio driver with me :)
And a few more things.
In one topic i found this info: moreover, myself and other users of this forum have overclocked their cards from 657/1300/1200 to 800/900/1600 and are very pleased with the results, so try not to overexaggerate
(it is a quote). So I will be happy if someone gives me link to some kind of manual about overclocking 560m gt from our beloved x770.
Also I found a lot of topics about nvidia drivers with angry customers. I don't remember when i first updated video drivers, but i've never had problems with them. When the situation changed? As far as i can understand in 2011 you could't install nvidia drivers directly from nvidia website.
P.S. sorry for my english, i'm from Russia. Also there is some russian on screenshots, hope it won't make your eyes bleed. At first i want to "thank" moderator about renaming my topic. Original name was: realtek vs nvidia hd audio x770 + update r2.70 question. Where is 2.70 part in the current name? Ok.
Second. To Tonny: I'm not lame user, no need to explain me obvious things).

If there is nvidia hd audio device and it's not some kind of virtual device or controller, i want to test it like primary audio device. Simple curiosity. I love flac etc.,
So I always try to improve sound. And alc269 we have in x770 is also installed in my ANCIENT asus eee pc, so it's very depressing. Also your advice about control panel - sound is not working, i think you know why... There's only speaker device working on realtek hd audio.
> {quote:title=Tonny wrote:}{quote}
> You can use the driver from Realtek since the sound chip is from Realtek.
Yep, of course, but it's my 5th laptop and also i have 2 netbooks (i'm speaking only about portative devices, not pc). I tried to update drivers manually numerous times on my previous devices, and I learned a lesson, that if you install new driver (not from you laptop/whatever support page, but directly from device manufacter's website ) and even if you are absolutely sure that driver is compatible with you device there can be problems. For example, as i've already said realtek alc269 is installed in my qosmio x770 and in my super old asus eee pc. And driver is the same.
Also realtek driver support page has disclaimer: To be sure you obtain the full features/customizations provided in your original audio product, please download the latest drivers from your system/motherboard manufacturer's website. (already was in op-post).
So I only tried to hear from those who has already installed r2.70 realtek update or maybe tested it some way. But the moderator made it impossible renaming the topic. -
Lost Sound / No Audio Device
I have a k7n415 Pro Board using on-board audio. Updated NVIDIA drivers on Windows Update Site, then lost all sound. Tried rolling back driver and still no sound. Device (NVIDIA NFORCE MCP Audio Processing Unit and Audio Codec Interface) shows in control panel/system/hardward with no conflicts. However, sound and audio system devices in control panel says "no audio devices."
I also tried to go back a day using Windows Restore point, but got a message that Windows could not restore back to that point.
I'm stumped. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!I reinstalled drivers from disk that came with computer, but can still only connect at reduced speed settings.

Y50 Synaptic Control Panel Settings grayed out
I recently had my y50 sent to Lenovo to repair a faulty USB port. When the laptop returned, the hardware issue was resolved and Lenovo had also reflashed Windows. However, there was a new problem. I can't modify any settings in the synaptics control panel! Registry changes also appear to have no effect on these settings as well (unless there is a registry data value which corresponds to enabling and disabling the whole control panel). I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver numerous times (the Win8.1 x64 version provided on the Lenovo website) to no avail. I've attached some screenshots of device manager, control panel, mouse settings, and the synpatics control panel. Anyone know the issue? I know for sure that before I sent the kaptop to Lenovo, it had a different control panel installed. If someone has a copy of the older driver for this laptop, send it my way.
Dear theluketheory,
Welcome in lenovo Forums.
Please try to Uninstall Synaptics Touchpad drivers through Control Panel > Programs and Features , reboot the computer and install the below:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-y-series-laptops/y50-70-notebook-lenovo/downloads/DS100271
Make sure that the driver is also uninstalled from the Device manager.

Initial problem was Dell Webcam video recording records no sound.
In Control Panel, Device Manager, Sound Video and Game Controllers there are two High Definition Audio Devices listed: Location 1 (Internal High Definition Audio Bus) - I deduce this is the internal mic; and Location 2 (Internal High Definition Audio Bus) - I deduce this is external microphone jack. Both have the same driver version.
The Control Panel, Sound, Recordings Tab showed 2 devices that looked identical except the bars that show green with volume were only on the first one, which is also the default one, and would detect sound if you got real close to the webcam mic when talking. Both devices displayed as 'working'.
Accessories, Sound Recorder recordings are silent no matter how close you get to internal webcam mic.
Dell WebCam Audio Source tab has two selections, both reading Microphone (3 - High Definition Audio Device). Both selections record sound with the EXTERNAL MIC jack. There is no way to select the internal webcam mic, it is not an option.
Per instructions found on the web, I uninstalled the first device only in Device Manager and rebooted. The same driver version as before was installed. But now the settings have changed. Device Mgr still shows Loc 1 and Loc 2. However, under the Sound, Recordings tab there are still 2 devices, but the first one says 'currently unavailable' , is still the default, and the sound bars that go green for audio testing are on the SECOND device now instead of the first one. If you check the Properties for each device, they BOTH are showing the same location Location 2 (Internal High Definition Audio Bus), i.e., the external mic jack. Loc 1 device (built in mic) is not showing up!!
Accessories Sound Recorder works with the EXTERNAL mic. (How does it know which one to use, it's not giving me a choice?)
So the Location 1 device (internal mic) is not showing up anywhere besides the device manager. I want to use the internal mic for skype and webcam. Somehow I need to get the Loc 1 device to show up on the Sound - Recording tab and in the Webcam Audio Source list? What do I do?
Thank you in advance for your help.kestark
This is Vista.
Go to the Inspiron 1525 support page. Find the small blue "Change OS" and click on the arrow. Select Vista. Then download and install these 3 items with a restart between each one.
1. Dell System Software in the System Utilities category.
2. Intel Mobile Chipset in the Chipset category.
3. Sigmatel audio driver in the Audio category.
See if it works any better after you get the Sigmatel driver installed. -

Talk about picking the hardest solution to an easy problem. You guys were right, it wasn't driver related at all. It simply wasn't enabled in the system BIOS. I never imagined that it would be disabled as a default. I conceptualized this is Plug and Play (Which was wrong).
Thanks for the hand. BTW, MSI help desk was clueless about this (which was surprising).
Now where was I (Starting Warcraft III),

Audio device not detected in control panels
+Audio device not detected in control panelsa I've been using my X-Fi Platinum with Windows 7 64-bit fine for around a month now. Recently I encountered a problem where I couldn't record any sound including talking on Teamspeak. I decided to reinstall the drivers, so I cleaned them out with a driver cleaner tool, and reinstalled. Everything works fine again, but none of the applications will work anymore. They all give an error message about not being able to detect the device. This includes AutoUpdate, Creative Audio Control Panel, and Creative Console Launcher. The card appears to be working correctly everywhere else: Device manager, teamspeak works fine now, windows recorder, guitar rig (guitar amp emulator), dx diag, all working well.
I also tried installing Daniel_K's driver pack to no avail.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Audio device not detected by Creative Audio Control Panel
I cannot get creative audio control panel to work, I keep getting an error message saying the audio device supported by this application is not detected. I have had this problem using xp, vista and now windows 7. It seems to work after a reformat and clean install but will eventuslly stop working again for some reason.
I have read a few posts with people having the same problem but cannot find a solution.
It is getting quite annoying having to reformat all the time just to temporarily?fix this so if anyone can help it would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.Naamloos.jpg
I also looked at the details of the driver and it shows a whole buch of driver, even two unsigned. Are all these neccesary? Maybe I have to many old drivers conflicting?
Creative.jpg
Also the volume mixer seems empty, although it shows the playback device when pointing over the square, I can't select it.
